Ukraine in brief:
46th day of the heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the russian military invasion.
In the north of Ukraine, there are no significant changes in the position and activities of russian occupation troops. The occupiers continue to block Kharkiv partially. The russians are abandoning attempts to break through the defenses of Ukrainian soldiers in the area of the city of Izyum, conducting reconnaissance of possible directions for further action.
In the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, russian occupation troops are concentrating their primary efforts on taking control of the settlements of Popasna, Rubizhne, Nyzhne, and Novobakhmutivka. The occupiers do not stop trying to take complete control of Mariupol.
In the Kherson Oblast, the enemy tried to restore its position – to take up lost positions in the settlement of Osokorivka. Russian occupiers will probably try to attempt to reach the administrative borders of the Kherson Oblast.
In the temporarily occupied territories, the occupying forces continue to restrict the rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens. Robberies and killings of civilians continue.
Northern Oblasts
Kyiv
In Kyiv, activists removed the names of belarusian and russian cities from the stelae of memory and replaced them with Ukrainian ones.
Kyiv Oblast
As of April 10th, 1222 people died during the war in Kyiv Oblast, Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova said.
An eco-park in Motyzhyn, near Kyiv, has been turned into a torture chamber by russian troops. People were brought here to be slaughtered and killed.
The road service built a drawbridge across the Irpin River near the village of Romanivka. It will unload the flow of cars going to Irpin and neighboring cities. Demining work in Kyiv Oblast continues.
Zhytomyr Oblast
On April 9th and 10th, Zhytomyr paratroopers destroyed two russian Orlan-10 drones from a British-made Starstreak anti-aircraft missile system. The Security Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr Oblast has detained a woman suspected of collaborationism. She openly supported the kremlin’s aggressive policy on her social networks.
Chernihiv Oblast
During the day, there was an air alarm. In Chernihiv, roads are being repaired, and electricity and water supply are being restored. The mayor comments that during the siege, russian occupation troops destroyed the city by 70 percent. On the city beach “Zolotyi Bereh,” rescuers retrieved six missiles from the rocket system of volley fire “Urahan.” Some were in the water, others – were on the beach. Another rocket was found near the culture and recreation city park in the woods.
Near the Snov and Zamglai rivers near Chernihiv, residents of surrounding villages have begun rebuilding bridges to the Oblast center. They knock down wooden boards, fill in the ground, and make masonry. The bridges were blown up on the first day of the war, and there was no connection to the city. Through these wooden masonries, the cars return to the city.
The exchange of prisoners continues. As a result of the exchange on April 9th, Gremyach village head Anna Gavrilin returned home.
Sumy Oblast
There were some air alarms. The threat of the return of the russian occupation troops remains serious. There is a large concentration of russian occupation troops near the border with Ukraine in Sumy Oblast.
The torture of people by russian occupation troops is being investigated in Trostyanets. Seven 200-220 mm shells were found in the village of Rudneve. In Konotop Raion, the police and military found and confiscated russian machine guns, ammunition, and equipment.
The curfew in the Oblast has been changed, and it will last from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Operation of suburban trains is being resumed.
Eastern oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
Satellite images analyzed by Maxar Technologies showed a massive column of russian military equipment near Kharkiv with a length of 12.8 km. Over the past day, russian occupation troops shelled Kharkiv 66 times. Nine people were injured. Derhachi and the Raion also were shelled. Two people were killed, and some more were injured.
Donetsk Oblast
Kramatorsk
No military action was observed in the city, but the situation is extremely alarming. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are getting ready to meet the enemy. The mayor provides information to the residents on social media about the available evacuation routes from the city. At the moment, it is possible to evacuate by rail from Slovyansk and Pokrovsk. There is a possibility to reach these destinations by organized buses. There is also a possibility to leave the city by bus.
Volunteers from the association “Everything will be Fine” (“Vse bude dobre”) continue to help evacuate residents by buses. There are several locations in the city from where transport departs. Free meals are also provided for the convenience of people leaving the city. Evacuation of people with limited mobility is also being organized.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Region
Russian occupation troops were shelling the settlements along the entire frontier line. During the past day, the hottest spots in Donetsk Oblast were Maryanka, Krasnohorivka, Kostyantynivka, Novomykhaylivka, Heorgiyivka. At least seven civil facilities were destroyed, including residential buildings and power lines. There are dead and injured because of strikes, including a child.
The AFU were fighting back against the enemy. Representatives of the Territorial Defense Forces and the police were on duty.
Two train cars with food were delivered to Pokrovsk by the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration. Food was supplied to residents and hospitals. Part of the humanitarian aid is planned to be supplied to shelters.
Humanitarian aid from AHED INTERNATIONAL LLC in the form of medicines was also received in Pokrovsk. Humanitarian assistance is arriving from other foundations that provide medications to the hospitals of Avdiyivka, Myrnohrad, and Pokrovsk.
Bakhmut
Air alarms were heard during the day. Police officers are conducting intensified patrolling of the streets of the community. The State Emergency Services are also working in a heightened mode. Private trade facilities operate in a limited way.
Mariupol
In penza oblast of russia, a camp was set up for forcibly deported Mariupol residents. According to Ms. Denisova, the Commissioner for Human Rights, more than 400 Ukrainian citizens are currently held there.
Kadyrov troops have installed a mine thrower among residential buildings and are firing in the direction of the residential areas of Mariupol.
A Ukrainian border guard, surrounded by russians, blew himself up along with a radio station so that the occupiers would not seize it.
Luhansk Oblast
In the Luhansk Oblast, border guards repulsed the russian occupation troops’ attack and took a prisoner.
In Severodonetsk, the russians hit two houses and a private clinic. In the morning, homes in the new part of the city were on fire. In the afternoon, the russian army opened fire all over Severodonetsk. The city’s social and critical infrastructure has been almost destroyed.
The kremlin military administration plans a large evacuation with the support of charities on Wednesday, April 13th. In Luhansk Oblast, the power grid is being restored where it is possible. Another 30 000 subscribers are back in the light.
Southern oblasts
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
The situation is tense and alarming. On April 10th (as of 5 pm), the air alarm sounded nine times. Yesterday, on April 9th, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) struck at the airfield in Melitopol, where russian military units were concentrated. Ukrainian defenders are putting up a decent resistance along the entire line of hostilities.
The russian occupiers continue to carry out terror and looting. In addition to agricultural machinery transported to the occupied Crimea, 4 trucks with saltpeter were stolen. The occupiers continue to shell settlements, civilian infrastructure, and residential areas.
The city of Huliaipole is one of those that suffers from constant shelling. There is no electricity in the town. Residents gather, live in basements, and prepare food on the street.
In Enerhodar, the occupiers set up a radio station, radio russia, which spreads hostile propaganda. In the Vasylivskyi Raion, russians continue to search for and abduct men, accusing them of fabricated charges of murder and terrorism. The russian military is blocking the delivery of humanitarian aid and the departure of residents from the temporarily occupied territories.
Kherson Oblast
The russian military has not given up trying to hold an illegal referendum on the so-called People’s Republic of Kherson. At present, Nova Kakhovka produces propaganda materials and forms.
In Nova Kakhovka, the russian occupiers staged a fake rally to show on television that locals allegedly supported the occupation. 30 people with russian flags were placed on the square. Instead, the russian military dispersed peaceful rallies by locals against the occupation.
The russian military also dispersed a peaceful rally in Kherson. Journalists from the Ukrainian Public Broadcaster News “Suspilne” reported the shots, but there is no information about the injured or detained.
Skadovsk
In Skadovsk, there has been no contact with local businessman Oleksandr Goryainov for five days, who was detained by the russian occupiers and taken away in an unknown direction.
Odesa Oblast
An extended curfew for one and a half days continues in Odesa. No serious violations were recorded during this time. The situation in the Black Sea has not changed significantly. Russian ships and cutters continue to block the respective territories. The probability of a missile strike remains to be high.
Central oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
In all, ten missile strikes were carried out on the Dnipro airport. There is practically nothing left of the airport, as well as of the infrastructure facilities nearby. Six people were injured, and one of the rescuers is in grave condition.
Missiles destroyed an industrial facility in Pavlohrad. A rocket was fired at an infrastructure facility in the village of Zvonetske. A civilian was killed in Novopavlivka when he picked up a cluster munition. Today, the air defense units of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast shot down two russian uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV), a rocket and a plane. In the urban-type settlement of Solone, wreckage fragments of missiles fell on the farm.
Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov and Mayor of Zhytomyr Serhiy Sukhomlin are working out the logistics of providing material support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) units in eastern Ukraine.
British business people delivered new thermal imagers worth more than 10 thousand euros. Dnipro will provide this much-needed assistance to soldiers of the AFU and the Territorial Defense and National Guard units.
Kamenske received more than 5 tons of humanitarian aid for IDPs.
Kirovohrad Oblast
Kropyvnytskyi
There was a threat of a missile strike today. Air raid alerts sounded several times during the day. The AFU defend the borders of the Oblast and guard military facilities. The Territorial Defense Forces keep watch at checkpoints and patrol the city with the police.
Older people are invited to the Age of Happiness club in Kropyvnytskyi to maintain their physical and psychological health in difficult times of war.
Until the end of the martial law, the Donetsk National Medical University and its separate division – the Lyman Medical Vocational College, are temporarily operating in Kropyvnytskyi.
Poltava Oblast
Air raid alerts were triggered in Poltava and the Oblast.
Volunteers collect, pack and dispatch humanitarian aid to hotspots. The collection of relief supplies for the residents of the destroyed cities of Okhtyrka, Trostyanets, and Kharkiv continues. Volunteers and social services also receive IDPs and provide them with meals, clothes, and required support. Besides, they assist military personnel.
De-russification of Ukrainian cities is in progress. Thus, the Premier Palazzo Hotel owner plans to replace the sculpture of Alexander Pushkin with that of Ivan Kotlyarevsky.
The Poltava Ensemble’s song “Oy, u luzi chervona kalyna” (“Oh, red viburnum is in the meadow”) was performed by the Dmytro Akhsharumov Chamber Orchestra and the Live Drums group on Theater Square in Poltava.
Poltava residents raised more than 160 000 hryvnias for a drone muffler for the Territorial Defense Forces. In total, they collected 212 thousand hryvnias.
The charity event Food Regiment takes place in the city until the end of April. Seventeen eateries from Poltava and Myrhorod have already joined the initiative. Visitors can suspend any drink from the menu for the military or Territorial Defense Forces fighters in the cafe battalions. The drink will be taken by the soldier to whom it is intended, and the money will go to the needs of the Ukrainian defenders.
Western oblasts
Lviv Oblast
There have been no air raid alerts in the past 24 hours, and the situation has been calm. Volunteers and welfare services have accommodated more than 2000 IDPs. The total number of IDPs received since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion stands at 300 thousand. Some 21 thousand have left the country via border checkpoints in the Oblast within the past 24 h.
Rivne Oblast
Rivne
There have been no air raid alerts during the day. The situation is generally calm. AFU military is patrolling the border with belarus. Territorial Defense Forces representatives are patrolling and operating the checkpoints.
The Head of the Rivne Oblast Military Administration has some 1018 suspects, 833 curfew violators, and 400 individuals suspected of collaboration with the enemy have been detained by Rivne Oblast police since the beginning of the martial law.
The Oblast has welcomed 737 IDPs in the past 24 hours. Teenager clubs in Rivne offer art therapy sessions for children who arrive from the war zone to the city. Art therapy helps them cope with hardships, emotional pain, and disquiet.
The residents are united and readily assist volunteer centers in cash and in-kind.
Zdovbytsia
The situation in the community is calm overall. Territorial Defence Forces representatives are patrolling the area and operating the checkpoints. Local government officials proactively assist IDPs by providing them with clothes and foodstuffs. A village council deputy supported by residents sent aid of first-aid kits, medicines, bandages, power banks, and electrical and technical appliances to an AFU unit. The vehicle dispatching the assistance will also remain with the military. The community is currently proactively engaged in volunteer activities making camouflage nets. Internally displaced schoolchildren are learning in the Zdovbytsia Lyceum.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
Khmelnytskyi
It is calm in the city. A memorial service for a fallen hero of Ukraine was held in Khmelnytskyi.
A Cookies for Kiddies community action kicked off in the Youth Centre is a chance for everyone concerned to either make or buy pastries for IDPs and donate them to charitable foundations. A master class in military and sports all-round for children was arranged in Khmelnytskyi. The kids practiced movements and learned how to ‘take the punch”.
Chernivtsi Oblast (Bukovyna)
The situation in Oblast is calm. Recruitment to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continues. Bukovyna pays last respect to the heroes who died during the war.
Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University held a scientific picnic for internally displaced children, where they tried themselves in the role of ecologists, chemists, and philosophers. Chernivtsi library holds master classes on sandplay therapy, canine and felinotherapy for children. More than 30 disabled IDPs were taken to the geriatric boarding house in Chernivtsi.
Children and teachers will bake Easter bread (Paska) for defenders on the premises of Chernivtsi schools.
Zakarpatska Oblast
A joint concert of the Cantus Choir with internally displaced musicians supporting the 128th Brigade of the AFU took place in Uzhhorod. A similar show is to be held in Mukachevo.
In Uzhhorod, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has opened a playground for children on the historical and cultural complex “Sovyne Hnizdo” territory. Volunteers play with children, and parents can get background information.
During the meeting with entrepreneurs who came from war zones to Mukachevo, the city’s mayor, Andriy Baloha, said that Mukachevo will have a coworking center for internally displaced entrepreneurs.
