Northern oblasts

Kyiv

As of January 3, 2024, in Kyiv, 54 people have been injured and 2 killed. Most of the victims have mine-blast injuries.  

In the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, the elimination of the consequences of the russian shelling continues. In a high-rise building, 7 apartments completely burned down after the attack on January 2, and another 321 apartments in two buildings were damaged. About 250 owners of the damaged apartments have applied for financial assistance.

The SBU detained an ex-official in Kyiv who was an FSB agent and proposed to annex the eastern regions of Ukraine to the rostov region of the russian federation. He turned out to be a former Ukrainian official who, in previous years, had worked in the Ministry of Fuel and Energy, the State Committee for Reserve, and the Ministry of Coal Industry. The perpetrator faces up to 15 years in prison.

Kyiv Oblast

Residents of the Kyiv Oblast could hear the sounds of explosions on January 3 when sappers were busy destroying explosive devices in the Bila Tserkva Raion.

In Brovary, citizens who were mobilized starting December 1, 2023, will be paid UAH 10,000 in financial aid. The application can be submitted by the mobilized themselves or their relatives.

Construction of radiation shelters for educational institutions continues in the Kyiv Oblast. In particular, in Uzyn, Bila Tserkva Raion. The construction is being carried out at the expense of the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Residents of the village of Koroshchyne in the Zhytomyr Oblast launched a volunteer campaign to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They took the initiative to raise 100 hryvnias from each household. Those who used to live in Koroshchyne but moved away also joined the campaign. In total, they managed to raise 26 thousand hryvnias. These funds were transferred to the needs of the defenders of Ukraine.

Chernihiv Oblast

Russian troops shelled the Snovsk community in the Chernihiv Oblast with a mortar.

In 2023, 24 civilians were killed in the Chernihiv Oblast as a result of russian shelling.

The Chernihiv Oblast is now home to about 50,000 fewer people than before russia’s full-scale invasion.

Sumy Oblast

On the night of January 3, the russian army shelled the Svesa community in the Sumy Oblast. Four mortar shell explosions were recorded. Four communities came under fire.

The russian military used MLRS to shell the Yunakivka community in the Sumy Oblast, damaging five houses, a car, and a power line.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

More than 15 settlements in the region were shelled with artillery or mortars in the Chuhuiv, Kupiansk, and Kharkiv raions over the course of the day. 

On the afternoon of January 2, russians attacked Vovchansk. There, a 65-year-old woman was wounded, and two houses were damaged and destroyed.

School No. 35 in Kharkiv is half-ruined: On January 2, it was hit for the second time during the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.

A russian missile hit one of the schools in the Osnovianskyi district in the evening of January 2, and part of the two-story building collapsed. At the site of the explosion, a crater about ten meters in diameter was formed and filled with water. Rescuers assume that the missile strike damaged an underground water supply system. At least three private houses nearby had their windows smashed.

Near Synkivka and Petropavlivka, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukrainian forces repelled seven russian attacks over the past day.

Donetsk Oblast

The russian army carried out ten artillery attacks on the civilian population of the Donetsk Oblast. On January 2, six settlements were shelled. Two residential buildings, a hospital, and a power line were damaged.

In the Donetsk Oblast, on January 2, two residents were injured in Avdiivka and one in Krasnohorivka. In addition, it was possible to establish information about two people who died earlier in Chasiv Yar, and one more who was wounded earlier in Avdiivka.

The Armed Forces southeast of Novobakhmutivka improved their tactical position and repelled 24 attacks in the Avdiivka direction.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

On the morning of January 3, the russian army shelled the city of Girnyk in the Donetsk Oblast, wounding a 16-year-old teenager. Enemies hit the city with artillery, targeting a private home.

From morning to night, the russians fought in Avdiivka, wounding two civilians. Apartment buildings and private houses, a medical facility were destroyed. Another person was injured as a result of the hit on Krasnohorivka.

From the front-line village of Novoselivka Persha in the Donetsk Oblast, it is proposed to introduce a forced evacuation of children due to the escalation at the front and constant russian shelling of the settlement.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

russian troops are trying to advance on Chasiv Yar. In particular, the enemy has increased the number of equipment in the east and is transferring reserves from other directions. The russian occupiers involve former prisoners in the assaults.

Mariupol

Another teenager, illegally deported by the occupying russian authorities from Mariupol, was returned to Ukraine. In April 2022, 17-year-old Oleksandr was taken to Moscow as part of a group of 31 children. These were mostly orphans or children deprived of parental care. In two years, the young man managed to reach adulthood, all this time he sought to return to Ukraine.

Luhansk Oblast

President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a certificate for the Hero of Ukraine from the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Kovalenko from Sievierodonetsk to receive an apartment. 

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

During the second of January, russian troops once again attacked the Mykolaiv Oblast. The oblast was hit by artillery fire and a missile attack.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

The occupiers struck 23 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast – 134 strikes were recorded.

There were two reports of damage to residential buildings.

A 54-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were killed as a result of russian artillery shelling of the village of Plavni in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, yesterday. They were riding a bicycle in the village, a fragment hit the woman in the head, and the man in the chest.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces advanced in the Verbove direction, forcing the occupiers to abandon some positions. And near Robotyne, the Defense Forces repelled an attack by the russian military.

Melitopol is waiting for liberation from occupation. The “Yellow Ribbon” resistance movement is growing in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Thus, 4,700 activists have already joined public resistance in the region.

Kherson Oblast

Russian troops shelled the Kherson Oblast 121 times last day. They hit medical institutions, administrative buildings, educational institutions, a library and a station in the Kherson Raion, as well as a factory in the Beryslav Raion. One person was injured.

Today, russian troops shelled a village in the Kherson community with artillery. One of the shells hit a private house where a man was staying. His body was found by a neighbor.

The russian army shelled Novotiahynka of the Kherson Oblast. A woman died.

During December, 1,050 explosive objects were defused and more than seven thousand hectares were demined in the Kherson Oblast.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Russian troops shelled Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on the night of January 3 with heavy artillery. There were no casualties or injuries. The consequences of the attack are established.

Today, air defense forces destroyed an Kh-59 guided air missile over the Dnipro river.

11 people who were injured as a result of the missile attack on Dnipro on December 29, 2023 remain in the city hospitals. Their condition is satisfactory.

Kirovohrad Oblast

During yesterday’s air raids, air defense forces destroyed two unmanned aerial vehicles – in the Novoukrainka and Kropyvnytskyi raions.

Cherkasy Oblast

More than 100 FPV drones, thermal drones to see the enemy at night, EW stations, gasoline units, medical supplies, two four-wheel drive cars were handed over to the defenders from Cherkasy. Everything was purchased at the expense of the oblast budget.

The musical group from Cherkasy “Spiv Brativ” held 30 concerts in 2023, including more than 20 charity ones. As a result, more than UAH 3,2 million were collected. They are aimed at helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Poltava Oblast

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in the Mariinskyi Palace presented certificates for obtaining apartments to the Heroes of Ukraine and the families of the fallen soldiers. Among them are the families of Vitalii Hrytsaenko and Vitalii Koval from the Poltava Oblast.

Vinnytsia Oblast

In Vinnytsia, two anti-radiation shelters are being built on the territory of kindergartens. Currently, builders are laying engineering networks and preparing the foundation for pouring a monolithic slab.

A man who set off fireworks on January 1 was detained in Vinnytsia. He turned out to be a previously convicted resident of the oblast center. He faces up to 5 years of imprisonment.

The students of the gymnasium in the Vinnytsia Oblast collected more than UAH 58,000 to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The children managed to collect such an amount for the New Year’s holidays in the villages of Soshanske and Zozulyntsi.

Western Oblasts

Lviv Oblast

As of January 3, Lviv residents submitted about 50 claims for compensation for damaged property after the missile attack.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, presented two apartment certificates to residents of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast. Hero of Ukraine Andrii Kruhlov received one. The other was handed over for the family of the fallen soldier Denys Richter.

Liudmyla Rembach, the mother of a fallen serviceman from Khmelnytskyi, donated UAH 20,000 to purchase drones. Her son Ihor Rembach served as a scout in the Third Separate Tank Iron Brigade, died in March 2022 in the Izium direction.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

During 2023, volunteers of the Kamianets-Podilskyi charity organization “DobroMobil” handed over more than 100 cars to the front lines. So far, the military has submitted more than 30 requests for cars to the fund.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Clinical Hospital collected UAH 346,210 and USD 1,950 to help the units where their employees work. The money was collected during the New Year charity auction and will be used to purchase drones. Currently, 32 employees of the medical facility are on the front line and in front-line hospitals.

A monument to the corporal general of the Ukrainian insurgent army was found under the rubble of the museum, which burned down as a result of falling fragments of enemy drones. Now the bust is in the funds of the Lviv Historical Museum.
