Kyiv

About 70 police officers of the Kyiv Oblast donated blood for the needs of the military and civilians wounded in the war. The Donor Day was held at the Security Police Department. The on-site collection was organized by doctors from the Kyiv City Blood Center.
The Bucha community sent humanitarian aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Car tires, potbelly stoves and a generator went to the front line to the units where residents of Bucha and Vorzel serve.
More than a third of the facilities damaged by the russian attack on January 2 have been restored in the Kyiv Oblast. New windows are being installed in the houses, facades and roofs are being restored.
The Kyiv Oblast Mental Health Center plans to set up a training and practice center. It will be used to develop an organizational model for the provision of psychosocial services in health care institutions. This is a joint project of the oblast with the Israeli NGO IsraAID and the Communities Revival charitable organization.
Zhytomyr Oblast
In Zhytomyr, the police are checking information about the bomb threat to three lyceums. Students and staff were evacuated from the premises. Law enforcement officers did not find any suspicious explosive devices.
In Zhytomyr, the militant “Dembel”, a member of the illegal armed group that stormed Bakhmut, was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
He also specialized in organizing the activities of his subordinates related to the capture and retention of other Ukrainian settlements.
A social hostel for IDPs is to be built in Zhytomyr. It is planned to provide accommodation for seven families who were forced to move to the Zhytomyr Oblast due to the war. This project is financially supported by the German government company GIZ.
Chernihiv Oblast
The Russians shelled three border communities in the Chernihiv region with grenade launchers, barrel artillery, and mortars.

The project “Educational Security Officers” was launched in the Chernihiv Oblast. As early as in January, security officers will start working in 65 schools located close to combat zones or the border with russia and belarus. They will prevent unauthorized persons from entering schools, smuggling dangerous items, organize evacuation of students to a shelter during an air raid alert, and more.
Sumy Oblast
During the day, the russian army carried out 23 shelling attacks on the Sumy Oblast. 110 explosions were recorded. Six communities were shelled. Two private houses were damaged in the Novoslobidske community.
On January 16, the russian army shelled three communities. 14 explosions were recorded.
Eastern oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
On January 15, the russian federation hit Vovchansk twice in the evening, causing damage to the administrative building. As of January 2024, about 3,800 residents remain in the border town of Vovchansk; even due to intensified shelling, people do not want to leave. Now three protection structures are being installed in Vovchansk and another one in Vilcha.
Russians launched guided aerial bomb attacks on the village of Vesele in the Liptsy community, damaging a school and destroying a club.
Over the course of the day, settlements in the Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, and Kupiansk raions were bombarded by russian artillery and mortars.
Mandatory evacuation was announced for Kindrashivka and Kurylivka communities in the Kupiansk Rayon due to shelling. A total of 3,043 people are staying there, including 279 children.
The Ukrainian military repelled two russian attacks near Synkivka in the Kharkiv Oblast. The villages of Berestove and Vesele were targeted by air strikes.
Donetsk Oblast
On January 15, the russian military attacked the Donetsk Oblast 25 times, including 17 air strikes. Six settlements were under fire. 23 civilian structures and vehicles were damaged, including 15 residential buildings and 8 cars.
One person was killed and five wounded in the Donetsk Oblast as a result of shelling on January 15.
Ukrainian soldiers of the Luhansk border guard detachment in the Donetsk Oblast used small arms to shoot down an FPV drone of the russian military, causing it to explode in midair, and landed the UAV with ammunition using an anti-drone rifle.
Ukrainian fighters repelled 85 russian attacks in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Maryinka sectors on January 15.
Today, Ukraine honors the “Cyborgs” – the unyielding defenders of the Donetsk airport. The Donetsk airport has become one of the symbols of Ukrainian resistance to the russian occupiers. Beyond human limits, under constant shelling, the heroic defense of the airport lasted 242 days. The battle for the airport ended after the complete destruction of the old and new airport terminals. The Ukrainian defenders were called “cyborgs” for their resilience and invincibility. More than 200 soldiers were killed and 500 wounded while defending the Donetsk airport.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
The occupiers hit Avdiivka with 13 missiles and artillery. A person was injured, an apartment building was damaged.
During the attack on Krasnohorivka, the russian invaders killed a man who was a few days short of his 53rd birthday. Another civilian was injured.
The russians fired at Ptyche from the Smerch multiple launch rocket system, damaging three private homes.
Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
In the Donetsk Oblast, the russian army dropped two aerial bombs and hit the settlement of New York with a missile. 6 three-story buildings and 5 private houses were destroyed. Three people were injured, five may be under the rubble. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Mariupol
Group “Ї” of the Mariupol Resistance marked the locations of russian military bases in Mariupol. Thus, the partisans help the Armed Forces of Ukraine to destroy the bases of the occupiers.
Luhansk Oblast
For three days, russian troops have been storming Bilohorivka almost 24 hours a day. On January 15, they fired 14 missiles, including three guided air bombs on Nevske.
Southern Oblasts
Mukolaiv Oblast
During January 15, the russian army carried out artillery strikes on the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities. In the Kutsurub community, a house was damaged and three people were injured.
The former front-line village of Kotliareve is being restored in the Mykolayiv Oblast. Thanks to benefactors and the local budget, the kindergarten and village council were restored, business is gradually returning. Until February 24, 2022, 2,500 people lived in the Kotliareve headman county, now – 1,400.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Yesterday, the occupiers made 162 attacks on 24 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. A 32-year-old woman was injured as a result of the fall of a reconnaissance UAV in Zaporizhzhia. 25 reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.
Three russian attacks to the west of Verbove and Robotyne were repulsed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
The occupiers caused damages to the temporarily seized Zaporizhzhia NPP in the amount of UAH 30 billion. Enerhoatom’s unrealized profit amounts to more than UAH 167 billion.
Serviceman with the call sigh Hamlet from Zaporizhzhia received the Order “For Courage” of the 2nd degree. Under his command, the artillerymen of the battalion destroyed several russian warehouses with ammunition and almost two hundred infantrymen of the russian army.
Kherson Oblast
The russian army shelled the Kherson Oblast 99 times in the past day. The humanitarian headquarters, the point of invincibility in the Beryslav Raion, and the administration building in Kherson were hit. Two people were injured.
During the day, the russian military carried out two airstrikes in the Kherson Oblast. 13 guided aerial bombs were dropped on Kherson, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Respublikanets and Novoberyslav.
In Kherson, the russian military attacked the police administration building at night. The premises were destroyed. Two policemen were injured. Windows were damaged by the blast wave in the surrounding high-rise buildings, school and court buildings.
Also at night, the russian army attacked Bilozerka in the Kherson Oblast. Shells damaged private and apartment buildings. There were no casualties or injuries.
The occupiers also shelled the village of Tiahynka. A man and a woman were injured. They were taken to the hospital with shrapnel wounds.
During the day, russian troops attacked a residential building in Bilozerka. A 44-year-old man was diagnosed with an explosive injury and leg injury.
In the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson Oblast, the occupying “administration” continues to create a network of military committees and recruit personnel for them. In the temporarily occupied Henychesk, vacancies were opened for several departments of the pseudo military commissariat.
Central Oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
On the night of January 16, russian troops hit the Nikopol Raion with artillery. More than ten shells were fired at the raion center and the city of Marganets. The consequences of the attacks are being clarified. There were no casualties or injuries.
Kirovohrad Oblast
Air defense was working in the Kirovohrad Oblast, previously there were no injuries or damage.
In the Smoline settlement community of the Novoukrainka Raion, Inna Hryhorenko, the wife of the fallen defender Oleksandr Hryhorenko, was presented with an honorary state award – the Order “For Courage” III degree (posthumously). The defender died while performing a combat mission in October 2022 in the village of Novohrygorivka of the Kherson Oblast.
In the Kirovohrad Oblast, there are points of invinsibility that give residents the opportunity to overcome the cold weather. In some settlements of the oblast, there has been no electricity for more than a week. Thanks to unbreakable points, people can get in touch, recharge their gadgets. Almost 500 residents have already visited eight points of invincibility in the Ustynivka community. In the Ketrysanivka one 250 visitors used the services of seven institutions.
Vinnytsia Oblast
Military serviceman Oleksandr Mudryk from Vinnytsia was awarded the “Golden Cross”, which is an honorary award of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. The fighter is currently serving in the Sumy direction.
144 security police officers joined the “Educational Security Service Officers” project. Retraining of police officers will take place on the basis of the higher professional school of the Security Police Department.
Containers for plastic lids are installed in schools and kindergartens of the Vinnytsia community. By collecting them, children will not only take care of the environment, but also help the defenders. This plastic will be used in the manufacture of prostheses.
Western oblasts
Rivne Oblast
In the Rivne Oblast, volunteers from Dubno collected more than 300,000 hryvnias from waste processing. With the stolen money, they bought three drones for the military. To join the initiative, citizens are encouraged to bring recyclable materials to the volunteer team.
About 800,000 hryvnias have been collected by Rivne musician Maksym Prokopchenko for the Armed Forces since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation. He gives street concerts not only in the Rivne Oblast, but also in other regions of Ukraine. The musician organized one of the performances in Sarny.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
In 33 communities of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast, a safe educational space was opened during 2023. These are 45 security classes that operate in educational institutions or fire departments in the oblast. Children of all ages learn the basics of rescue, law enforcement and pre-medical activities there.
Kamianets-Podilskyi Raion
More than 5 million hryvnias were collected at a charity auction held in Kamianets-Podilskyi under the slogan “Air nightmare for the occupiers”. The event is organized by the “Protect Khmelnytskyi” charity organization.
Within the framework of the rehabilitation program of the Children of War project in Kamianets-Podilskyi, there are children from Blyzniuky and Chuhuiev of the Kharkiv Oblast.
Chernivtsi Oblast
The third day Romanian farmers are blocking the movement of trucks in front of the border for several hours. Similar protests are taking place all over Romania. They have several demands on the government, in particular, regarding grain prices and the cost of agricultural machinery insurance.
Representatives of the Territorial Center for Procurement and Social Support have been working at checkpoints in the oblast since the beginning of the year. They help border guards to determine whether a person is on military registration and whether military registration documents are valid and not forged.
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
Approximately 20 servicemen applied from January 1, 2024 to receive payments within the framework of the social project “ten thousand for the rehabilitation of defenders”, which was started in the communal institution “Warrior’s House” in Ivano-Frankivsk.
Ternopil Oblast
In the Ternopil Oblast, a robotic ground drone “Ant” was assembled, which can transport cargo three times heavier than itself. It can be used to remotely remove soldiers from the battlefield, deliver water and food.
Zakarpattia Oblast
A working meeting was held with representatives of the Hungarian community of the oblast in the premises of the Berehovo branch of the “Matias Corvinus Collegium” educational center. On the agenda is the issue of the functioning of the communities in the Berehovo Raion, in particular, regarding the implementation of state initiatives, the accommodation and integration of immigrants, the activities of entrepreneurs, the sphere of health care, education, infrastructure, etc.
The communities of Kamianske and Tiachivka will receive funds from the regional budget for the development of industrial park concepts. They will be able to use this money to develop a detailed plan of the territory, carry out a strategic environmental assessment and other necessary costs that are directly related to the creation of industrial parks.
In Uzhhorod, training for the heads of public and charitable organizations that provide multifaceted assistance to IDPs in the Zakarpattia Oblast has started. In general, the heads of 15 local and relocated organizations joined the project “Changing the thinking design of leaders in the public sector during the war”.
Residents of Uzhgorod are calling for the renaming of Bilorus street in honor of the soldier Sviatoslav Soika who died in the war. For this purpose, they initiated the signing of a petition so that it could be considered by the city council. The regional coordinator of “Active Community” in Uzhhorod took part in the dissemination of information.
