Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Yesterday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani. The President of Ukraine expressed hope that during the Macedonian presidency, the OSCE would use all possible means to exert pressure on the aggressor, primarily to stop human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Two high-rise buildings on Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Street, which were damaged by missile attacks in March, have been fully restored. The residents will be able to return to their apartments in the near future.

The street named after Ukrainian astronomer Klym Churiumov appeared in Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. Previously, the street was called Yasnopolianska, but was renamed as part of de-russification measures.

Kyiv Oblast

Roads and forest belts in the north of the Kyiv Oblast are almost completely mined. This was reported by the Deputy Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Pavlyuk.

Today, the destruction of explosive ordnance was carried out in the Vyshhorod Raion. 

From now on, the citizens of Irpin will be supported by the Spanish charitable organization “Remar S.O.S”. As part of the cooperation, residents of the Dubky sanatorium have already received food packages. Soon, thanks to “Remar S.O.S”, a meal center will be organized in the city, where citizens will be able to eat three times a day for free.

Three “Safety Classes” were opened in the Brovary Territorial Community. Here, children will learn the rules of fire and mine safety and civil defense. It is important that children will be told about the procedure to be followed in cases of air raid alerts or shelling. New classrooms were equipped in Brovary lyceums No. 5 and No. 7, and the Trebukhiv Lyceum. They are provided with the necessary materials and equipment, including computers, projectors, and interactive whiteboards.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr, two soldiers were taken on their final journey: Mykola Kondratiuk and Andriy Zabrodskyi. Both servicemen laid down their lives for Ukraine in the eastern parts of the country

Four electric generators, 20 wood-burning stoves and five tons of cereals were donated by benefactors to the Zhytomyr “Points of Invincibility”, educational institutions, and the utility company “Zhytomyrteplokomunenergo”.

“Grandmothers Battalion” from Zhytomyr sewed 55 pillows for the defenders of Bakhmut. The NGO plans to make even more such pillows and clothes for our servicemen.

In Zhytomyr, near the “Zhovten” cinema and the Administrative Service Center on Polyova Street, people are collecting embossed cardboard, wax and cans to make trench candles. Such candles can illuminate and heat a small room, heat water, food and even dry clothes.

Chernihiv Oblast

Today, russians shelled the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast, namely the Semenivka community. The military recorded seven 120 mm mortar shell hits near the village of Mykolaivka.

Today, in the Chernihiv Oblast, they said goodbye to servicemen Andriy Mishchanyn, Yaroslav Klyuchovyi and Anatoliy Chyrva. They were killed in action in the Donetsk Oblast.

On January 17, 116 low-power generators from the United Arab Emirates were delivered to the Chernihiv Oblast. They are planned to be installed in “Points of Invincibility” in different communities of the Chernihiv Oblast, in particular, in 28 new points that are being prepared for opening.

Sumy Oblast

In Sumy OVA, they showed photos of the consequences of yesterday’s shelling by the Russians. A kindergarten, a school and a stadium, as well as two houses in Kindrativka of the Khotyn community, became targets for the Russians. In the school and kindergarten, 26 windows were shattered by shrapnel. Communications were also damaged: gas and water pipes were broken.

Today, pyrotechnicians were destroying explosive ordnance near the village of Yasenove of the Chernechchyna community in the Sumy Oblast.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Today, the occupiers shelled the town of Kupiansk again. An enemy missile hit the Kupiansk Motor Transport Vocational College.

Last day, the enemy continued to terrorize the civilian population of the frontline settlements of the Kupiansk, Chuhuiv, and Kharkiv raions of the oblast.

In Kupiansk, 2 five-storey apartment buildings and 7 private households were damaged by shelling. A 41-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were wounded.

In Vovchansk, Chuhuiv Raion, shelling damaged the building of the Central Raion Hospital, and damaged 7 private houses.

In the urban-type settlement of Bilyi Kolodiaz of the Vovchansk community, 3 private houses and a civil industry facility were damaged.

Donetsk Oblast

During the day, the russian army shelled 13 settlements in the Donetsk Oblast: Avdiivka, Bakhmut, Kramatorsk, Chasiv Yar, Velyka Novosilka, Komyshivka, Berdychi, Krasnohorivka, Vesele, Yahidne, Vremivka, Karlivka, Severne. They enemy fired the Grad MLRS, artillery, and tanks.

On January 16, the russians killed 2 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast: in Bakhmut and Severne. 1 more person in the oblast was wounded.

Since February 24, the russians have killed 1,309 civilians in the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 2,857. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the east of the Pokrovsk Raion, one person died in Sievierne of the Ocheretyne community. Isolated shelling of Avdiivka, Marinka and the outskirts of the Kurakhove community was recorded, and in the morning Kurakhove was shelled with multiple rocket launchers.

Avdiivka withstood the most hits of 21. Russian troops destroyed the settlement with Grad multiple rocket launcher, artillery and tanks. A hospital and an apartment building were destroyed. According to preliminary information, no one was injured.

The community continues to supply city hospitals with consumables and medical remedies. This time help came from the LifeChangerUA fund together with the Public Organization “Women and Children of Ukraine – Our Future”.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

On the Horlivka direction, one person died in Bakhmut. In the city, two private houses and a high-rise building were damaged. A house was damaged in Kalynove ​​of the Illinivka community. The tense situation is in the Soledar community. Soledar, Paraskoviivka, Rozdolivka and Fedorivka are under fire.

On January 16, Ukrainian border guards repelled the assault of the russian army on one of the forward strongholds of the occupiers near Bakhmut. The military hit the russian attack aircraft with small arms, mortars and grenade launchers from drones.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

On the Volnovakha direction, five houses were damaged in Vugledar. Novoukrainka also came under fire. There are no casualties.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

Around midnight, the enemy shelled Kramatorsk. They aimed at an industrial enterprise. A large area was damaged. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

A house in Lyman was damaged in the Lysychansk direction, and Siversk was also under fire.

18 gas heaters will be installed in Points of Invincibility in Sloviansk. They were given by benefactors. The equipment was divided into nine Points of Invincibility in the amount of two in each.

Luhansk Oblast

In Novopskov of the Starobilsk Raion in the Luhansk Oblast, on January 15, during the use of the S-300 complex by the enemy, one missile fell on a residential building. Two civilians were killed.

During the years of occupation, Khrustalny turned from a well-known mining town into a ghost one with a zero level of industry. All mines in the settlement were preserved.

Southern oblasts

Odesa Oblast

Six russian missile carriers are on combat duty in the Black Sea, with a total salvo of up to 44 missiles. This may indicate the continuation of missile attacks.

Two FSB agents, who were handing over Ukrainian military personnel to the russians, were detained in Odesa and Kherson. One of them was a contract worker of the Armed Forces, the man turned in his own brother- the commander of his combat group.

Representatives of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) visited the city medical institutions of Odesa.

The purpose of the visit was to determine the needs of medical facilities that carry out vaccinations in additional equipment for storing vaccines.

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday, the enemy carried out artillery strikes on the settlement of the Ochakove community. As a result, one person died. An object of social infrastructure and residential buildings were damaged.

In Mykolaiv, the Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanka raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Volunteers collect aid for the Defense Forces in Veselynovo. Food parcels are formed with dumplings, pies, meat, stewed meat, etc. Other residents of the village raise money and buy what volunteers and soldiers ask for.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The russian army struck the Nikopol Raion of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast three times at night. The Pokrovsk, Nikopol and Chervonohrihorivka communities came under fire.

In Dnipro, rescue operations have been completed at the site of a missile attack on a high-rise building. As a result of the attack, 45 people died, 79 were injured, the bodies of 15 people who died as a result of the missile strike remain unidentified. 20 people are considered missing, four of them are children. Five children remained orphans. Three of them will be cared for by relatives. Two children are under the care of the state, as they have no relatives who could take care of them. 

Residents of a house destroyed by a missile in Dnipro held a picket and called for more air defense systems to be provided to Ukraine. People from neighboring high-rise buildings also joined the action.

Monobank allocated 5 million hryvnias, and Ukrainian citizens donated another 94 million hryvnias to help the residents of Dnipro affected by the missile attack.

In the fight for Ukraine, 48-year-old Andrii Vasylchenko from Kamianets Raion, 55-year-old Volodymyr Lepekha from Kamianske, Maksym Linik from Kryvyi Rih died. Eternal glory to the Heroes!

Kirovohrad Oblast

Today, the townspeople said goodbye to the Hero-defender Lieutenant Serhiy Dovhenko, who gave his life for Ukraine.

The soldier was buried on the Alley of Honorable Military Burials of the Far Eastern Cemetery.

Kropyvnytskyi volunteers took 14 homeless animals from near Bakhmut. The rescue operation was led by Kateryna Dorosh, the head of the animal protection organization “Bim”. Together with volunteers, the woman took cargo for the military, fodder for the animals that remain in the territories where hostilities are taking place, and delivered the abandoned animals to Kropyvnytskyi.

Poltava Oblast

Poltava Oblast lost six more defenders in the war. Valerii Vasylenko died on January 13 near Kupiansk (Kharkiv Oblast) under artillery fire. At the front, he served as a gunner-paramedic. He came from Velyki Budyshchi. Serhii Ponomarenko was a tank gunner during the war. A 42-year-old military man lived in Poltava. He fell in Donetsk Oblast on January 3, when he was repairing tank damage.

On January 12, 23-year-old Yevhen “Lys” [“Fox”] Kulyk died during a shooting battle. The man served in the airborne assault troops and the French Foreign Legion. After the full-scale russian invasion, he fought as part of the “Centuria” unit. The military man comes from Zinkiv by birth.

Artem “Ozzie” Osin died on January 12 in battle as a result of artillery fire. The military man was from Poltava. He also served in the “Centuria” unit.

Ivan Kirkush from Myrhorod died on the battlefield. He was an anti-aircraft gunner of one of the military units. A soldier died on January 12 while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk Oblast. He will be 26 forever.

In Kremenchuk, a solemn farewell was held for defender Maksym Kagal. As a part of the “Azov” Special Detachment, he stood in the defense of Mariupol. Hero’s life ended on March 25. His body was returned only after a certain period during one of the exchanges. Maksym was identified by DNA examination. The soldier has been defending Ukraine since 2015. For his heroism and loyalty to the military oath, by decree of the President of Ukraine on April 5, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the “Golden Star” order.

240 modules were delivered to Poltava to build a “modular town” for internally displaced persons. By the end of January, the procedure for resettling people should be developed. 528 people will live there. Currently, water supply and sewerage networks are being laid. The modules will be installed free of charge by Polish specialists.

In the schools of Poltava, wooden toilets are made and installed for use during blackouts. This idea has become the only option that will be relevant in the event of a long-term blackout, according to the city authorities. It is planned that an individual approach will be applied to each of the educational institutions. In most cases, they will try to place toilets with collectors, but this is not possible everywhere, so cesspools will be dug under the latrines.

Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

The henchman of the russian federation, who directed enemy missiles at Rivne, will be put on trial. It was established that a resident of Rivne collected data on the location of critical infrastructure facilities in the regional center and called on russia to launch a missile attack on the city. The man also gave the enemy information about the location and movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region. The criminal sent the obtained coordinates to the enemy through his own Twitter channel, where he also published posts in support of the russian invaders and justified their crimes.  

A third-grader from the Rivne Oblast collected 7.5 thousand hryvnias for cartridges for the Armed Forces of Ukraine by singing carols. Mark Osypchuk, an 8-year-old student of the Korets Lyceum, decided that the main goal of this year’s caroling would be to buy ammunition for the military. Volunteers promised to help the boy.   

Chernivtsi Oblast

11 communities of the oblast received family tents with stoves, insulation kits and blankets. They were handed over as part of the implementation of the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Charity Fund “Volunteer Movement of Bukovyna” and the Chernivtsi Oblast Council. Tents will be used to set up “Points of Invincibility” and will also be set up at border crossings so that people can stay warm and wait out bad weather. Some communities will transfer the received aid to the front.

Food, sweets, games, and warm things were received by the Magala boarding house, the Orshivtsi sanatorium-type children’s house, the Karapchiv general boarding school and the oblast center of social and psychological assistance “Pryhystok”. Children from internally displaced families, children with disabilities and low-income families of Bukovyna were not left without gifts. The help was given to them by the students of the Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovich with the financial support of the charitable organization “Schüler Helfen Leben” (Germany). Volunteers will deliver another part of the humanitarian cargo to our military in Bakhmut, Soledar and Avdiivka.

A museum commemorating the russian-Ukrainian war is being created in the city of Sokyriany (Chernivtsi Oblast). Three rooms in the historical museum were allocated for this purpose. Exhibits dedicated to community residents who died at the front and elements of military paraphernalia will be placed there.

Zakarpattia Oblast

On January 17, a passenger train made a test run on the section “Rakhiv – Dilove – Valea-Viseului”, which connects Ukraine with Romania. The first departure with passengers will take place on January 18.

In Zakarpattia Oblast, in the city of Irshava, 40 thouthands hryvnias were collected for 128 brigades at the charity run “Warm up the Hero”.
