Northern oblasts

Kyiv

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, arrived in the capital today to meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Today, explosive ordnance disposal took place in the Vyshhorod Raion.

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Latvia, Ināra Mūrniece, came to Ukraine for the first time and visited Irpin. The minister assured that Latvia would continue to help Ukraine.

According to the project to rebuild the “Radist” (Joy) kindergarten in Irpin, one more floor will be added to the institution and it will be brought in line with modern standards. The premises of the “Radist” kindergarten were damaged during the hostilities in Irpin. A large part of the building burned out and is beyond repair. The Lithuanian government undertook to help Irpin restore the preschool. The design and estimate documentation is ready, contractors have been selected, and construction work will begin in the near future.

Bohuslav

The Bohuslav Volunteer Center has transferred almost 8,000 hryvnias to Valentyna Mashchenko, the mother of a wounded paratrooper. Her son Vitaliy Mashchenko served in the 95th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but during the fighting to liberate the Donetsk Oblast from the russian invaders he was seriously wounded and lost part of his right leg. Volunteers note that the family has not yet received support from the state, and frequent trips to the hospital in Kyiv require quite considerable weekly expenses. Currently, Vitaliy has already completed the first stages of treatment and is waiting for prostheses to be made for him to walk. He has a long rehabilitation period ahead of him.

A volunteer theater group, organized by the Active Community team in Bohuslav, performed a charity documentary play “Normal Guys Can Find a Place to Stay Here, Too” in the Myronivka community. This is the first screening outside of Bohuslav, and the fourth in total. These are 10 real stories of women whose lives were changed by the war. Each viewer had the opportunity to join in raising funds for a vehicle for the 3rd Mechanized Battalion of the 28th Detached Mechanized Brigade “South”. Myronivka residents donated over 5,300 hryvnias. In total, the volunteer theater group raised more than 32 thousand hryvnias.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In the Zhytomyr Oblast, border guard Denys Zubriychuk, who was killed in the battles for Soledar, was laid to rest. In 2017-18, this young soldier who took the call sign Greek defended Ukraine as part of a border guard unit in Donbas. Then he returned to the Zhytomyr border guard detachment. His border guard unit was among the first to face the full-scale invasion of the russian army into Ukraine.

Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue the interaction of the defense headquarters at all levels. The border with belarus in the Zhytomyr Oblast is being trenched and filled with concrete. Brigadier General Vasyl Zubanych, deputy commander of the Volyn Operational Grouping of Troops, inspected the north of the oblast.  

Two quadcopters for the soldiers defending Ukraine’s borders were delivered today by Zhytomyr educators. The action was initiated by the director of Lyceum No. 23 Ihor Baranov and the Department of Education of the Zhytomyr City Council. The drones were purchased with the funds raised during the Charity Hryvnia campaign. In total, over 370 thousand hryvnias were collected during the month of the campaign.

Chernihiv Oblast

Five powerful generators worth more than 130 thousand US dollars were delivered to the Chernihiv Oblast the other day. All of them are intended for heat supply facilities in the oblast. Three generators were delivered to Pryluky and two were left in Chernihiv.

The Chernihiv light industry enterprise continued to work during the russian offensive on Chernihiv. Under shelling, the employees sewed knee pads for the Territorial Defense fighters. They sew more than 100 jackets for the military a day.

Sumy Oblast

Yesterday, russians shelled two communities in the Sumy Oblast. They opened fire on the Krasnopillia and Shalyhyne communities. There were four mortars hits in the Krasnopillia community. The Shalyhyne community was hit by 15 mortar shells.

The night in the Sumy Oblast passed without shelling by the russians.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

This morning, the occupiers shelled the village of Tymofiivka, Bohodukhiv Raion, with artillery for an hour. About 20 hits were registered. Four private houses and some outbuildings were damaged.

Kupiansk, Dvorichna, Vovchansk, Krasne, Kamianka, Chuhunivka, Tabaivka and other towns and villages of the oblast came under hostile artillery and mortar fire over the past day.

In Kupiansk, a residential building and a private enterprise were damaged as a result of shelling. A private house was damaged in the village of Dvorichna in the Kupiansk Raion, and several outbuildings were on fire.

In Vovchansk, Chuhuiv district, the enemy shelled two two-story apartment buildings: windows were shattered and the roof was destroyed. Also, an outpatient clinic was hit. 

In the village of Vilcha, 5 private houses were damaged by occupiers’ shelling. The Vovchansk geriatric nursing home was hit, the windows of the building were damaged. Enemy shells also hit the kindergarten there.

Donetsk Oblast

In the Donetsk Oblast, on January 18, four civilians were injured during shelling by the russian army. These are people from Avdiivka, Khromove, Ivanivske and Chasiv Yar.

Since February 24, the russians have killed 1,309 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, wounded another 2,863. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

To the east of the Pokrovsk Raion, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Nevelske, Pervomaiske, Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk Oblast came under enemy fire.

Intense shelling took place in the Ocheretyne community: the night before, the russians targeted a kindergarten in Orlivka, and in the morning they shelled Vesele and Krasnohorivka.

The night and morning passed loudly in Avdiivka: the city was hit by four artillery shells and two shells from Grad multiple rocket launchers. The extent of destruction is established.

Starosta districts of the community received humanitarian cargo thanks to the financial support of Howard G. Buffett Foundation (HGBF) with the assistance of the American organization Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) and with the participation of volunteers from the NGO “Quality of Life”. This time it is two thousand hygiene and food kits. One box with hygiene is enough for a family of four per month. Such sets have already been received by the benefactors of the residents of Pershotravneve and Pishchanske Starostya Districts.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

In the Horlivka direction, one person was injured in Ivanivske of the Bakhmut community. Two houses and an administration building were damaged in the community. One more house was damaged in Pleschiivka of the Kostiantynivka community. Paraskoviivka, Rozdolivka, Fedorivka and the outskirts of Soledar suffer from constant shelling in the Soledar community. Three houses were damaged in Vasiukivka.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

In the Volnovakha direction the russians continuously shelled Vuhledar during the day. Six houses were damaged. Bohoyavlenka was also fired upon twice in the community. There are no casualties.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

Shelling of Siversk and Lyman communities was recorded in the Lysychansk direction. Four houses were damaged in Zakitne, more than 30 shells hit Torsk and Zarichne.

Mariupol

Doctors in occupied Mariupol are not employed and receive almost no salary. There is no otolaryngologist in hospitals at all, and there is only one endocrinologist in the whole city. People have been waiting in lines since 5 in the morning. And they cannot get normal aid. Therefore, the death rate in the city is increasing.

Luhansk Oblast

In the occupied part of the Luhansk Oblast, measures aimed at forced “love of family” are ongoing. Residents of the Novopskov community complain about threats from the russians for refusing to send their children to school. If the collaborators find out that a boy or girl is not participating in the educational process according to the program of the russian federation, representatives of the occupiers immediately come home and threaten to deprive them of parental rights.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday, the enemy carried out artillery strikes on the water area and coastal strip of the Ochakov community. There are no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, Pervomaiske, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Yesterday, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaly Kim, took part online in a discussion panel about the liberated territories of the Ukraine is You project. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The walls, roof and windows were destroyed by enemy shells. In the Marganets community, the consequences of the shelling are being established.

Maksym Spyrydonov died on January 8 near Avdiivka. The soldier was mobilized on November 3, served as a sniper and had the rank of senior soldier. The defender was buried today in Kremenchuk.

Andrii Lutsai was from Velyki Budyshcha. A 37-year-old soldier died on January 14 as a result of artillery shelling near Soledar (Donetsk Oblast).

Fallen soldiers were buried in Poltava. The families and brothers in arms of Viktor Koniushenko and Serhiy Pochep honored the heroes’ exploits together with the residents of Poltava. Defenders died in battles for Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast.

The court sentenced a teacher from Poltava to 4 years of suspended sentence for telling students about “Azov” crimes” and “the correct position of the russian federation in relation to the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics”. The collaborating teacher taught chemistry and biology at school №4. In her lessons, she spread Russian propaganda, justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and recognizing the legitimate occupation of part of Ukrainian territory. The woman did this before and after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Tetiana Shapoval was found guilty and sentenced to 4 years of conditional imprisonment with a probationary period of 1 year.

Western Oblasts

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Since the beginning of the war, 60 enterprises have moved their production facilities to Khmelnytskyi Oblast.

The largest number of enterprises moved to the cities of Khmelnytskyi, Kamianets-Podilskyi and Shepetivka.

These enterprises were relocated from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kramatorsk and other cities of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. To date, 76% have already started operations at a new location.

The mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi reported that 1 million hryvnias have been allocated from the city budget to help Kherson.    

Children from the front-line territories of Kherson and Kharkiv oblasts, who are currently undergoing psychological rehabilitation under the “Children of War” program in Kamianets-Podilskyi, are going to school for the first time in almost 11 months – to Kamianets-Podilskyi Lyceum №5.

Last week, the public organization “Women’s Hundred” wove about 100 square meters of camouflage netting and knitted 42 pairs of warm socks. 

Rivne Oblast 

Rivne Oblast received 35 “Starlink” for temporary free use. They are for “Points of Invincibility”. This became possible as part of the cooperation of the Rivne Oblast State Administration with the “+380” charity fund. Starlink satellite equipment sets were provided by the Institute of Telecommunications – National Research Institute, located in Warsaw (Poland). 10 Starlink sets went to Rivne Raion, 9 to Varash Raion, 8 to Dubno and Sarny raions.

The community in the Rivne Oblast launched the campaign “Give russians to waste paper” in order to purchase a car for a special unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is an initiative of the department of education, culture, youth, sports and tourism of the Goshcha settlement council. Residents of the community are urged to audit home books and hand over unnecessary soviet, russian-language editions to libraries.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Bukovyna mourns the soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. A solemn farewell was held for senior sergeant Oleksandr Byzyna in the city of Kitsman, sergeant Yurii Mozhar – in the city of Storozhynets, soldiers Volodymyr Orshevskyi – in the village of Prosykuriany, and Dmytro Skrypei – in the village of Perebykivtsi.

Volunteers of the Nedoboivtsi community once again went to the east of the country to deliver humanitarian aid to the military: trench candles, a generator, military ammunition, food, warm clothes and hygiene products. These things were collected by local residents, entrepreneurs, farmers, workers and students of kindergartens and schools, religious organizations, public figures. 

The family of fallen soldier Ruslan Marusyk from the village of Kadubivtsi sheltered the dog that he and his comrades found at the front. The defender’s daughter, Antonina, decided to leave the animal as a memory of her father.

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet paid a working visit to Chernivtsi Oblast. In particular, he got acquainted with the peculiarities of the provision of educational services in Bukovyna under martial law. 

In Chernivtsi Oblast, a Coordination Council for Internally Displaced Persons was established under the oblast military administration. It will deal with issues related to the implementation of the state policy on the protection of the rights and interests of IDPs.

Zakarpattia Oblast

20 generators were purchased for the oblast center of Zakarpattia in the sister city of Uzhhorod, Corvallis (Benton County, Oregon, USA).

In Uzhhorod, public hearings were held regarding the renaming of Lermontov, Tolstoy, Nekrasov, Radishchev, Donskoy streets and Peoples’ Friendship Square. According to the results, it was decided to support the renaming of all the streets.
