Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

The heating points are planned to be put into standby mode. The corresponding decision will be made at a meeting of the Defense Council of the city of Kyiv. 2 points in each district will remain in working condition, and the rest will be put into standby mode. In the event of a mass power outage, all 767 points will resume work within 3 hours.

A separate rifle battalion was formed in Kyiv, which conducts training according to NATO standards. During the classes, fighters improve not only their own physical training but also master both theoretically and practically all types of small arms.

A charity run will be held in Kyiv on March 26 to collect funds for the purchase of a car for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There will be two races to choose from – 5 and 10 kilometers. With the collected money, they want to buy a pickup truck for the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which participated in the liberation of Kherson and is now working in the direction of Bakhmut. Kyiv Oblast

At night, the enemy carried out a drone attack on the Kyiv Oblast. In the city of Rzhyshchiv, the 4th and 5th floors of two five-story dormitories and a three-story educational building of a professional lyceum were destroyed, followed by burning. Debris clearance and search and rescue operations are ongoing. It is known about 7 dead.

Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida visited Buchi. Together with the Acting Director of the head of the Kyiv Oblast State Administration Dmytro Nazarenko and the city mayor Anatoly Fedoruk, they visited the territory of the Church named after Andrew the First-Called. The memory of Ukrainians who died at the hands of the occupiers in Bucha was honored with the laying of flowers. Next, the delegation inspected the infrastructure objects, the restoration and repair of which are taken care of by Japanese funds. Japan significantly helped Ukrainians survive the winter by providing powerful generators.

Irpin was visited by representatives of youth organizations of political parties in Germany: conservative – “Youth Union” and liberal – “Young Liberals”. After what they saw in the Kyiv Oblast, they said they would demand more help from their government in Ukraine.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr Oblast, a residential building and production equipment of a vital infrastructure object were damaged as a result of a night attack by kamikaze drones.

Disabled citizens with reduced mobility from Kharkiv Oblast were evacuated to Zhytomyr Oblast. To date, the oblast has already accepted more than 111,000 people who have changed their place of residence from Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Kyiv Oblasts. There are 296 internally displaced persons in 12 residential institutions.

Two more “Valkyrie” complexes were handed over to one of the Zhytomyr brigades.

Unmanned aerial vehicles were purchased at the expense of the local budget.

In Zhytomyr, a car for the military is being bought with the funds from the sold keychains made from the wreckage of the russian Su-25 plane. 300,000 hryvnias were transferred to the account of the Zhytomyr Community Fund by the team of the company that manufactures keychains for the purchase of a car for the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade.

Chernihiv Oblast

In Chernihiv Oblast, the defense forces destroyed an enemy UAV, previously “Orlan-10”.

Yesterday afternoon, border guards recorded 27 enemy attacks, probably from barrel artillery, in the area of the road near the villages of Khrinivka and Senkivka. There are no losses among personnel and equipment. No information was received about losses among the local population or damage to civil infrastructure.

The commander of the Central Military District of the russian, Colonel-General Oleksandr Lapin, will be tried in absentia at the Chernihiv District Court. He led the invasion of the territory, including the Chernihiv Oblast.

The first modular bridge on the road P-69 Vyshhorod — Desna — Chernihiv, handed over by France, was opened for traffic in Chernihiv Oblast.

Sumy Oblast

On March 21, the russian army shelled the territories of Yunakive, Nova Sloboda, Bilopillya, Velikopysarivka, Svesk, Esman, and Seredino-Buda communities of Sumy Oblast.

The night from March 21 to 22 passed without enemy shelling.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

The enemy continues to terrorize the civilian population of Kharkiv Oblast and destroy civilian infrastructure.

Last day, Kupyansk, Vovchansk, Velikiy Burluk, Strelecha, Dvorichna, and other border settlements of Kupyansk, Chuguyiv, and Kharkiv raion were under the fire of barrel artillery, MLRS, tanks, and mortars of the occupiers.

As a result of the shelling in Kupyansk, the buildings of the fire and rescue department and at least 3 residential buildings were damaged.

Demining is ongoing in the oblast. Over the past day, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service inspected more than 5 hectares of territory and neutralized 47 explosive objects.

Donetsk Oblast

On March 21, russian troops shelled Donetsk Oblast 44 times. They fired from “Hrads”, “Smerchs” and artillery.

On March 21, the russians killed 4 residents of Donetsk Oblast: 2 in Chasiv Yar, 1 in Krasnohorivka, and 1 in Bakhmut. Another 5 people in the oblast were injured.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the russians have killed 1,424 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 3,249. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

President Zelensky came to the front line in Donetsk Oblast and presented state awards to the defenders of Bakhmut. He also visited the hospital where wounded Ukrainian servicemen are being treated, in particular, defenders of Bakhmut. He awarded wounded fighters, military medics and inspected the medical facility.

Ten groups of paramedics work in Donetsk Oblast, providing medical aid to residents of the oblast injured by shelling. During the day, police officers go to calls from 5 to 13 times. 37 people were rescued in the last week. Residents of Kostyantynivka and Chasiv Yar suffer the most from shelling.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion

In the Kostyantynivka community, 3 houses were damaged in Predtechyne and 1 house in Stinky. No casualties have been reported.

A local resident of Kramatorsk, a factory worker, began working with the russian occupiers in early March. According to the SSU, on his «tip-off» on March 5, russian troops shelled Kramatorsk and destroyed the school. The man was informed of the suspicion and taken into custody.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion

On the Avdiyivka and Maryinka directions, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, Novokalynove, Krasnohorivka, Stepove, Berdychiv, Avdiyivka, Severne, Vodiane, Pervomaisk, Maryinka – without success.

The cities of Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, the villages of Severne, Tonenke, and Netaylove were targeted by the russian army.

One person died and one was injured in Krasnohorivka of the Maryinka community. In the Ocheretyne community, one person was injured in Stepove, 1 house was damaged in Lastochkyne and 1 in Netaylovo. In the Kurakhove community, 6 houses were damaged in Ostrivske and 2 in Hirnik.

Nine thousand pine seedlings were planted in the Lyman community on the site of a forest destroyed as a result of hostilities, which were grown in the Lviv Forest Seed and Breeding Center from seeds collected by foresters of the Lyman Forest Farm. 

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

In the Chasiv Yar community, 2 people died, 1 was injured. Four high-rise buildings, 12 private residences, and infrastructure facilities were destroyed.

1 more person died in Bakhmut. Shelling of Minkivka, Vasyukivka and Rozdolivka of the Soledar community was recorded.

In Siversk, the administrative and industrial building of the enterprise was damaged – there were no casualties.

Southern Oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

As of 07:30 on the morning of March 22, no enemy shelling was recorded on the territory of the Mykolaiv Oblast.

As of March 21, specialists are working on the restoration of gas supply in the village of Prybuzke of the Halytsynove community, which has been missing since the spring of 2022. The gas control point, completely destroyed by shelling, will be replaced with a cabinet. At the same time, «Mykolaivgaz» workers are checking intra-village aerial and underground networks.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Today, March 22, around 12:00 a.m., the russian army fired six rockets at Zaporizhzhia. One of them hit between two high-rise buildings, in which apartments, balconies, roofs and broken windows were partially destroyed. Nearby residential buildings, cars and other objects of the city’s civil infrastructure were also damaged by the blast wave and debris. As of 18:00, 31 people are known to have been injured by the missile strike: 27 of them, including three children, were hospitalized. Previously, the russian military struck Zaporizhzhia with a long-range salvo rocket system.

Odesa Oblast

The prosecutor’s office started an investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war due to yesterday’s missile strike on Odesa. As a result of the impact, the roof and floor coverings of the three-story dormitory building on the territory of the St. Iver Monastery were damaged. Windows were broken in several nearby houses and the monastery. Three people were injured, one of them was hospitalized. 

Kherson Oblast

During March 21, the russian army shelled Kherson Oblast 47 times, firing 248 shells from heavy artillery and «Hrads» on its territory. It hit Kherson eight times. Two people are injured.

In the Kherson Oblast, four residents of Beryslav raion were convicted for participating in and organizing a fake referendum during the occupation of the Oblast. They were sentenced to 5 years in prison. They were also deprived of the right to hold positions in government bodies and to engage in activities related to the election process for 10 years.

The law enforcement officers informed two so-called «principals» of Kherson schools about the suspicion of collaborationism. The former head teacher and teacher of a vocational school voluntarily headed the educational institutions captured by the occupiers and persuaded other employees to cooperate.

In Kherson Oblast, since the de-occupation, 24 cases of injuries to the population with explosive objects have been recorded. 16 of them died, 20 people were injured.

In the Kherson Oblast, 40 agricultural enterprises have started sowing on demined fields. Currently, agricultural work can be carried out on 50 thousand hectares, another 450 thousand are mined.

In the Kherson Oblast, the prosecutor’s office is trying to return ownership of 100 hectares of agricultural land inherited by citizens of russia and belarus. Their cost is 20 million hryvnias. So far, the courts have opened proceedings on six lawsuits, the cases have been assigned for consideration.

On March 21, the defense forces destroyed an observation post of russian troops, a tank, two units of armored vehicles, two reconnaissance drones and an ammunition depot on the Kinburn spit on the left bank of the Kherson Oblast.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The russians shelled the Marganets and Myrove communities of the Nikopol raion from tube artillery. Enemy shells damaged a private residential building, farm buildings, power lines and motor vehicles.

In the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, during a full-scale invasion of pyrotechnics, almost 6,000 explosive objects were discovered and defused. Currently, agricultural land is being actively demined. 500 hectares have already been surveyed.

Large-scale training for civilians and military took place at the training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The training was organized by the 1st mechanized battalion of the 3rd assault brigade and the patriotic youth public organization «Centuria». At various locations, volunteers could learn the rules of handling weapons, shooting, tactics of movement in small groups, and medicine. The school’s instructors are military personnel with combat experience.

Almost a week ago, fighters of the 93rd brigade from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast near Bakhmut

shot down an enemy Su-24. The shot tube «Igla-1» was put up for auction. With the money from the sale of commemorative weapons with the autograph of a serviceman who shot down a russian bomber, a drone with a thermal imager will be purchased.

A photo exhibition “Stories from the Occupied Crimea” is open in Dnipro. The exhibition features the works of Ukrainian reporters who documented the life of the peninsula in 2014-2019.

Residents of Solone community in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast received a specialized car for transportation of people with limited mobility. This became possible thanks to the Right to Protection charitable foundation with the support of the USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance.

Kirovohrad Oblast

The SBU in Kirovohrad Oblast established that a resident of Znamianka is fighting on the side of the militants of the illegal armed group “DNR”. He serves in the “people’s police of the dnr” as an artillery fire spotter. The militant was awarded the medal “For Military Merit” for outstanding services in the war against his own people. The man was served a notice of suspicion. Under martial law, high treason is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 15 years or life imprisonment.

Selling household items, 82-year-old Lidiya Domrova from Kropyvnytskyi has already raised more than 30 thousand hryvnias. She donated the money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for which the Orthodox Church of Ukraine awarded her the Cross of Freedom.

Cherkasy Oblast

Last night, drone activity was recorded in Cherkasy Oblast. But there were no consequences.

An evacuation train with displaced people arrived in Cherkasy Oblast last night. The evacuees are from the cities of Kramatorsk, Bakhmut, Kostiantynivka, and Chasiv Yar. 33 people were met and provided with accommodation in Uman Raion and food. In addition, the IDPs received basic necessities.

Poltava Oblast

The Poltava Oblast is getting rid of russian communist symbols. Illegal symbols, flags, and other symbols of the ussr have been removed from Poltava Oblast, including the soviet coat of arms from the facade of the Poltava-Pivdenna railway station.

A rehabilitation center for the military is to be set up in Poltava’s sports complex. Deputies at the regional council’s standing committee supported the proposal.

Near Poltava, military personnel, youth, and foresters planted a new forest as part of the President’s Green Country program.

Western Oblasts

Lviv Oblast

Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation served a notice of suspicion to the former commander of the Berkut special police battalion of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for participation in the premeditated murders of Maidan activists. In particular, as a result of the actions of the Lviv Berkut commander, 3 people were killed and about 200 were injured.

A solar power plant will be installed on the roofs of St. Luke’s Hospital of the First Medical District of Lviv. The equipment was donated by the German company GIZ. This is part of the assistance from philanthropists.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Khmelnytskyi received two modular boiler houses as part of the USAID Energy Security Project. Each of them can fully provide heat to a school or hospital. The Khmelnytskyi City Council signed a cooperation agreement with the United States Agency for International Development in 2021. During the year of full-scale war, this is not the first time Khmelnytskyi heating specialists have received assistance.

The sappers of Khmelnytskyi conducted a mine safety lesson for students of the Mariupol Construction College, which was relocated to Khmelnytskyi during the war. The purpose of the lesson was to explain the dangers of modern munitions and those still present on the territory of Ukraine since the Second World War.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

The head of the Avanhard Charitable Foundation, Serhiy Vavrynchuk, visited Kamianets-Podilskyi with a humanitarian cargo – food for children undergoing psychological rehabilitation as part of the Children of War project. In the six months of its existence, the project has received more than 700 children from the frontline and liberated territories. For them, participation in the project is completely free, so only the help of philanthropists allows the project to exist and return childhood to children of war.

The Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council has announced the selection of candidates for awards among gifted children, children’s, and youth creative teams of municipal institutions of the community.

The coordinator of the Active Community in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Slavko Poliatynchuk, took part in the Council of Volunteer Organizations of the city, which operates under the city council. The meeting addressed issues of cooperation between the city’s volunteer organizations.

Chernivtsi Oblast

This year, the regional budget and 19 communities in Bukovyna have allocated UAH 141 million to finance local programs to support the territorial defense of Chernivtsi Oblast and the Armed Forces. In two months, UAH 87 million has already been financed. These funds were used to provide logistical support for military units, purchase fuel and lubricants, spare parts and equipment repair, purchase vehicles, backup power supplies, generators, etc.

An off-road vehicle worth almost UAH 130 thousand was purchased for the Chernivtsi Regional Clinical Cardiology Center. The cardiac center’s staff raised the required amount in three days. The SUV was handed over to Walter Schaeffer, a representative of the newly created separate airborne assault brigade, who will deliver it to his unit.

Bukovyna Gas Company, together with the Joint Efforts charity fund, donated another vehicle to the military. To perform transportation tasks, the company repaired and equipped the vehicle with a 20-foot shipping container and repainted it. In addition to the vehicle, the company provided the guys with fuel and other necessary items.

Heaters, surge protectors, and humidifiers were donated by Save the Children to the Chernivtsi Regional Library for Children. In addition, its specialists provide psychosocial support to children of IDPs and local residents. Save the Children specialists regularly conduct classes aimed at improving their emotional state in the library’s reading room.

An initiative group based on the Active Community of Chernivtsi organized a meeting with poet, writer, literary critic, and ethnographer Ivanna Stefiuk called ‘Bo Vesna’ (“Because of Spring”). The purpose of the event was to relieve the participants’ emotional stress through joint acquaintance with the author’s work, socialize the IDPs, and establish networking among the participants.
