Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Kyiv has returned to The Economist’s ranking of the most comfortable cities. The capital was ranked 165th out of 173 positions, while last year it was not included in the ranking at all because of the war. 

In the Holosiivskyi district, gymnasium No. 236 reopened after repairs. The premises needed repairs due to damage done by enemy shell fragments. Part of the building’s facade was insulated and painted, old windows were replaced, the entrance area was converted into the simplest shelter, and the bathrooms were overhauled: the water supply system and sewage system were completely replaced.

Zhytomyr Oblast

As of September 1, residents of the Zhytomyr Oblast have filed 31 applications for compensation for destroyed housing. Most of the applications came from representatives of the Zhytomyr community. Payments for damaged housing are ongoing.

Oleksandr Shvetsov, a veteran of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) from Zhytomyr, together with his four sworn brothers went hiking in the Carpathians. After being wounded, all of them are using prosthetic limbs. The goal of the hike is to raise 10 million hryvnias for two brigades from the Zhytomyr Oblast, a tank unit and two border guard detachments.

Chernihiv Oblast

On September 2, Russians fired 12 times at the border of Chernihiv region. The Novhorod-Siversk, Snovsk, and Semenivka communities came under fire. In total, more than 100 explosions were recorded.

Sumy Oblast

On September 2, the russian military shelled the border areas of the Sumy Oblast 19 times, 105 explosions were recorded. In the Seredyna-Buda community, the house of culture, private households, and the premises of a former utility company were damaged. A power line and a gas pipeline were damaged in the Krasnopillia community.

As a result of russian shelling on September 2 in Seredyna-Buda, Sumy Oblast, one person was killed and four others were wounded.

On the night of September 3, the russian army shelled the Svesa community in the Sumy Oblast, 2 explosions were recorded. 

In the morning of September 3, russians shelled Vorozhba in the Sumy Oblast. Eight residential buildings were damaged, and windows and doors were smashed. Fences, private vehicles, and garages were also damaged.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Yesterday, a number of settlements of the Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk, and Izium raions of the oblast came under fire from the russian occupiers. In particular, the enemy fired at Kozacha Lopan, Ohirtseve, Vovchanski Khutory, Varvarivka, Kamianka and other localities with artillery and mortars, and also used aviation.

Russians attacked the villages of Cherneshchyna and Shyikivka in the Izium Raion with guided aerial bombs. In Cherneshchyna, a bomb hit close to the local school. In Shyikivka, a private house and outbuildings were damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Mine clearance continues. Over the past day, bomb techs of the State Emergency Service surveyed more than 4.5 hectares of territory and neutralized 55 explosive devices.

Donetsk Oblast

The russian invaders attacked six towns in the Donetsk Oblast over the past 24 hours, using Smerch and Grad MLRS, as well as tube artillery.

On September 2, shelling by the russian army in the Donetsk Oblast killed two people and injured two others in Vuhledar.

Since February 24, 2022, the russians have killed 1,679 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 4,066 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

The night before, russians shelled Kramatorsk with Smerch MLRS, damaging 4 houses and more than 20 graves at the local cemetery.

Russian troops shelled Pivnichne in the Toretsk community and Tykhonivka in the Kramatorsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast. As a result, a man was killed and a woman was wounded in Pivnichne, and also four people were wounded in Tykhonivka.

In the Lysychansk sector, one house in Zvanivka and another house in Vasiukivka were destroyed. In total, 20 shelling attacks of the Lyman community were recorded.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy fired artillery at populated areas, including Nevelske, Severne, Novooleksandrivka, Keramik, and Berdychi in the Donetsk Oblast.

In the Maryinka sector, the enemy fired artillery at more than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, and Katerynivka in the Donetsk Oblast.

In the Donetsk sector, in the morning, russians shelled the outskirts of Kurakhove. Sporadic attacks were recorded in Avdiivka.

There are still 116 children remaining in the Ocheretyne community. The russian military is constantly shelling the community’s settlements with all available weapons, in particular heavy artillery and MLRS.

BlueCheck Ukraine delivered humanitarian aid to the residents of the Pokrovsk Raion, who evacuated to Chernivtsi. They received 150 personal hygiene kits. Internally displaced persons in Bukovyna have been receiving such aid since March 2022.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

In the Horlivka sector, a residential building, a shop and power lines were damaged in the Toretsk community.

In the Soledar community, Rozdolivka and Vasiukivka are under fire.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

In the Volnovakha sector, 2 people were killed and 2 wounded in Vuhledar, a house was partially destroyed. A cultural institution was damaged in Novoukrainka.

Luhansk Oblast

After a short pause, the invaders became active again near Novoyehorivka. It took them some time to recover from significant losses in personnel and equipment. In particular, several enemy tanks were burned over the last week. There, as well as in the area of Bilohorivka and Myasozharivka, russians also carried out airstrikes.

Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka were hit by enemy artillery.

In the villages around Svatove, russians also failed to passport the local population in time for their September elections. In order to increase the voter turnout, they continue to issue russia-approved documents in the course of the election days. They threaten elderly people with deprivation of social benefits, inability to use administrative services, and denial of access to doctors.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

During the day of September 2, the enemy attacked the waters of the Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, as well as in the Pervomaisk, Voznesensk, and Bashtanka raions, the day and night were relatively quiet.

On September 3, a 36-year-old resident of the village of Chornomorka, Mykolaiv Oblast, hit a mine in the water. The mine detonated and killed the man.

The impact of hostilities on the environment is being studied in the Mykolaiv Oblast as part of the project “Assessment of the Environmental Implications of the War for Communities”. Experts have analyzed the quality of drinking water, organized a survey of local residents, and obtained data on environmental problems caused by the russian invasion.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

The russian army fired 120 times at the towns and villages of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast yesterday. Russia shelled almost 20 settlements, including frontline ones, with multiple rocket launchers. The enemy also used drones and carried out air and artillery strikes.

Six fires broke out in the town of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, as a result of heavy shelling by russians on September 2. Rescuers extinguished the fires. No one was killed or wounded.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine broke through russia’s first line of defense near Zaporizhzhia after weeks of demining. A “faster offensive” is expected, as the second line of defense of the russians is weaker.

Odesa Oblast

The enemy has once again attacked the civilian infrastructure of the Danube area in the Odesa Oblast. The massive drone attack lasted over 3.5 hours. 22 Shahed-136 drones were destroyed by air defense forces. Unfortunately, there was a hit to the port infrastructure, which resulted in a fire, which firefighters promptly extinguished. According to preliminary information, 2 civilians were injured. They were provided with medical assistance.

The Army of the Russian Federation has put a small missile ship of the Buyan-M project, armed with eight Kalibr missiles, on combat duty.

The mayor of Odesa met with a delegation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The delegation includes members of parliament, members of city councils, and heads of British charities. The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, twinning relations with Liverpool, and increasing the assistance to Ukraine and, in particular, to Odesa.

Kherson Oblast

Last day, the russian army shelled the Kherson Oblast 79 times. They fired 510 shells at the oblast. Residential areas and a religious building in Kherson were hit. One person was killed and six were wounded.

Yesterday, the russian army shelled a kindergarten in Bilozerka, Kherson Oblast. They attacked with rocket artillery, damaging the roof and smashing a dozen windows.

Today, the russian army dropped four aerial bombs on the village of Burhunka, Kherson Oblast. Information on casualties and damage is being clarified.

Police canine experts from the Rivne Oblast together with bomb techs from the Kherson Oblast found a part of a soviet-style russian missile Tochka-U with a warhead in the form of a modified aerial bomb. It was found in a field near one of the settlements of the Chornobaivka community. The missile was defused.

In the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson Oblast, the russian military confiscates people’s property in order to force them to participate in pseudo-elections. In particular, LED TVs and a microwave oven were taken from three residents of Henichesk. Also, 200 kg of pork and a ton of grain were stolen from one of the farmers under the pretext of non-compliance with the “sanitary standards”.

In the Kherson Oblast, the Defense Forces eliminated 95 russian soldiers, and destroyed five armored vehicles and three boats over the past day.

The special emergency rescue squad of the Kherson Oblast State Emergency Service received new special vehicles. Two minibuses were donated by the Ukrainian FireFighters Foundation. The vehicles were purchased by volunteers in Poland, and Ukrainian philanthropists also joined the fundraising.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Five high-rise buildings, a civilian infrastructure facility and cars were damaged as a result of the shelling of the Pokrovsk community in the Nikopol Raion at dawn on September 3. The russian army used heavy artillery and Grad MLRS. In total, more than 30 projectiles were fired. No one was killed or injured.

Kirovohrad Oblast

A rock-climbing wall was opened in Svitlovodsk, Oleksandria Raion, at the oblast center of tourism and local history. The idea for the climbing wall was implemented by the team “Conquerors of the peaks”, and the project was created under the UPSHIFT program with the support of UNICEF.

Poltava Oblast

The title of Hero of Ukraine is going to be awarded to the fallen soldier Vitaly Dudko from the Poltava Oblast. He defended the country from the invaders and died during a combat mission in July of this year in the Luhansk Oblast. For this, the townspeople created a petition.

The Poltava Oblast Military Administration and the public organization “Kharkiv IT Cluster” are connected by joint projects. During another meeting, they discussed new opportunities for cooperation. In particular, they considered the prospects of involving war veterans in the IT field. This will help them realize themselves, master a new profession, and socialize. The plan is to create an information platform for the military with data on support at the state and regional levels.

The villages of Pershotravneve, Chkalove and Pidmoskovske should be renamed within the limits of the Law of Ukraine on the Decommunization of Toponyms. According to it, by January 27, 2024, local authorities must submit their proposals for new names for these settlements to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The regional coordinator of “Active Community” in Poltava told the citizens about this during the information time.

Cherkasy Oblast

Viktor Tsarenko, the commander of the volunteer formation of Moshny Territorial Defense, was awarded the “For the Defense of Ukraine” award. The soldier voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in October 2022.

The Uman city government cannot guarantee the safety of Hasidim who will come to celebrate Rosh Hashanah in 2023. They are warned that there are only 24 shelters on the territory that can accommodate 12,500 people. And usually more than 30 thousand pilgrims come to Uman.

Western oblasts

Rivne Oblast

In the Rivne Oblast, Security Service of Ukraine employees exposed a woman who justified russian aggression on the Internet and distributed pro-russian materials.

Lviv Oblast

Wounded servicemen and civilians who are currently undergoing rehabilitation and treatment in Lviv took part in the Lviv Invincibility Half Marathon. They managed to run a distance of 70 meters. In particular, 12-year-old Yana Stepanenko, who lost her legs during the shelling of the station in Kramatorsk by the russians. In total, about 1,700 participants took part in the races. 

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Another vehicle was presented to the military unit stationed in the city. The SUV was presented to the military by the head-director of the Podillia Homemade Bread Consumer Society. In addition, the bakery staff gave the soldiers bakery products and goodies of their own production.

Yesterday, a patriotic charity run in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was held in Kamianka. It was initiated by the VAV Better Future charity fund with the aim of raising funds for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Armed Forces. The military band inspired the runners and maintained high morale.

Chernivtsi Oblast

On the occasion of the day of the creation of the military unit, the soldiers of the Chernivtsi 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Brigade received state awards, departmental awards and valuable gifts.

Yuri Kulichevsky from Chernivtsi manages a number of enterprises that work in the field of engineering, as well as restoring energy after enemy attacks. With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the man actively supports the military with transport and equipment that saves the lives of fighters at the front. The total amount of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the benefactor already amounted to more than six million hryvnias.

Kherson borscht and oven-baked Bukovyna cabbage rolls were prepared by the participants of the charity talk in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The event was held in the Velykyi Kuchuriv community in the recently opened museum-manor house named after Anna Dushchak. Here they organized an exhibition of works by masters of folk art, a photo exhibition “My Kherson Oblast”, a joint concert with the participation of bands from the Kherson Oblast.

Ternopil Oblast

In the Chortkiv community in the Ternopil Oblast, a memorial plaque was opened to the members of the Rosokhach group. It was installed on the facade of the gymnasium in the village of Rosokhach, where members of the patriotic organization studied. It is engraved with the names of people who hung Ukrainian flags in Chortkiv 50 years ago as a sign of protest against the repressions of the communist dictatorship.

Zakarpattia Oblast

American microsurgeons operated on wounded soldiers who are being treated in Uzhgorod. This is the second visit of specialists from the USA to the medical facility.

The cities of Tiachiv in the Zakarpattia Oblast and Lyman in the Donetsk Oblast are planning to become sister cities.
