Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Safety trainings were held for the citizens of Kyiv with the participation of rescuers, sappers, doctors, and psychologists.

Kyiv Oblast

In the Kyiv Oblast, repair work is ongoing on damaged social infrastructure facilities.

Repair work has already been completed on 236 objects.

In the Kyiv Oblast, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service continue to work on demining territories. During the last day, there has been a prompt response to requests from the population to identify explosive ordnance in the Bucha, Brovary, Obukhiv, and Vyshhorod raions.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Medicine bags, lightweight plate carriers, t-shirts, underwear, kikimora camouflage suits and nets – all this is made by volunteers from the “Zhytomyr Kalynky” center. The center has been operating in Zhytomyr since the first days of the full-scale war. The coordinator says that the center is constantly in touch with the military. Therefore, the volunteers know all the needs and produce the necessary things on their own. For example, among other things, the girls sewed three thousand two hundred pairs of underwear.

Children of the Teterivka community in the Zhytomyr Oblast paint eco-bags for a charity auction. All funds received from the sale will be transferred to the needs of the military.

On August 5, Chudniv Raion said goodbye to the soldier Oleksandr Pohoretskyi, born in 1983, who was killed in the russian-Ukrainian war, fighting for the freedom and independence of his people.

The coordinator of the AUI “Active Community” established contacts with representatives of the authorities regarding internally displaced persons.

Chernihiv Oblast

Today, rescuers were disarming explosive ordnance near Shestovytsia.

In Chernihiv, a protest rally was held on Krasnaya Square due to the tragic events in Olenivka. The action was organized by the relatives of the fallen heroes of Mariupol and those who are currently in russian captivity. 

In Pryluky, an exposition on the Soviet propaganda items is being prepared for display. This is how museum workers want to show how someone else’s history and characters were artificially imposed on people. 

Sumy Oblast

Yesterday, 88 explosive items were found in the Sumy Oblast.

Yesterday, the russians shelled three communities of the Sumy Oblast. During the shelling of the Shostka Raion, the enemy hit the houses of civilians. A 52-year-old man was injured. He is currently in the hospital. The power grid was also damaged: 71 households in the raion were left without electricity. 

Yesterday, the enemy opened artillery fire 5 times on the territories of the Seredyna-Buda, Esman, and Hlukhiv communities. More than 60 hits in total.

The morning began with shelling in the Bilopillia community. Four times, from 4:30 a.m., the enemy opened fire on different territories of the community. In total, there were about 40 mortar and artillery attacks. 

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

The occupiers attacked Kharkiv. Rockets were fired from Belgorod. The target was civilian infrastructure.

At about one in the morning, the Sloboda district of Kharkiv was hit, the roof of a one-story non-residential building was on fire.

A missile hit was recorded on the territory of an infrastructure facility in the Industrialnyi district of the city.

The occupiers also attacked a settlement in the Kharkiv Raion with a rocket. In the nearby non-residential premises, near which the projectile fell, windows were blown out. There are no victims or injured persons.

In the oblast during the day, the russians inflicted repeated strikes on the Zolochiv community. Some private houses and outbuildings were damaged.

In addition, the occupiers shelled the Chuhuiv, Kharkiv, and Izium raions during the day.

During the day, 2 people were wounded and hospitalized in the oblast: a 41-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman in the Izium Raion.

Donetsk Oblast

The enemy is conducting an offensive operation in the Donetsk sector, concentrating its main efforts on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka areas. The russians use attack and army aviation.

In the Kramatorsk sector, shelling was recorded near Spirne and Ivano-Daryivka.

The russians conducted offensive combat operations in the directions of Yakovlivka – Vershyna and Kodema – Zaitseve; they did not succeed and retreated. In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy fired from tube and rocket artillery in the vicinity of New York, Pervomaiske, Vodiane, and Opytne. The invaders launched airstrikes near Novohorodske, Pavlivka, and Prechystivka. 

Druzhkivka came under russian shelling. As a result, 5 residential buildings were damaged, but there were no casualties.

On August 5, the russians killed 5 civilians of the Donetsk region: 2 in Opytne, 1 in Avdiivka, 1 in Soledar, and 1 in Pervomaiske. Another 14 people were wounded.

Kramatorsk

Last night, the russians carried out intensive shelling in the Donetsk sector and struck cities in the relative rear. The occupiers shelled Kostyantynivka twice. An entrance collapsed in one of the city’s high-rise buildings. Rescuers managed to pull out 7 people: 2 were pulled out from under the rubble and another 5 were lowered from the blocked apartments. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties as a result of the shelling. Most of the residents of the entrance were evacuated in time – otherwise the consequences could have been much worse. 

In Kramatorsk, an enemy rocket fell near a garage cooperative, causing no damage. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing fortifications at key points of the city.

The city authorities again urge residents not to delay until the last moment and take advantage of free evacuation to the Kirovohrad Oblast. More and more calls from citizens come to the evacuation hotline. Today, all those wishing to evacuate went to Pokrovsk with a subsequent departure to the Kirovohrad Oblast.

In general, the situation is alarming. Residents woke up at midnight to the sounds of explosions. In a part of the city, the light and the Internet disappeared. There were short-term water supply interruptions.

The coordinator of the AUI “Active Community” continues to work in the humanitarian center, which is entrusted with the issuance of the relief supplies, and coordinates the evacuation process.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to advance in the direction of the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, and Pisky.

The situation during the night was tense in the Avdiivka, Marinka and Ocheretyne communities of the Pokrovsk Raion. In Krasnohorivka, 5 private houses were damaged; in Pervomaiske, shells hit a shop next to it. There is no information about the victims yet. The russians launched a rocket attack on the Kurakhove community, hitting a school and residential buildings. Another school was damaged in the village of Kurakhivka.

The past day in the Pokrovsk community was relatively quiet. No facts about the victims have been recorded.

Pokrovsk received two water purification systems from French partners.

Bakhmut

In the Bakhmut sector, the enemy fired from tanks, tube and rocket artillery at the areas of the settlements of Bakhmutske, Toretsk, Bilohorivka, Krasnopolivka, Pivnichne, and Vershyna. The occupiers launched airstrikes near Zaitseve, Soledar, Bakhmut, and Berestove. They are conducting an offensive in the direction of Bakhmut; hostilities continue. 

The coordinator of the AUI “Active Community” conducted a master class for young people on counteracting psychological burnout in Cherkasy.

Mariupol

The occupiers in Mariupol plan to execute Ukrainian defenders.

Russian occupiers are collecting prison cells on the stage of the Mariupol Chamber Philharmonic. The diameter of the armature is 20 mm. In September, the invaders plan to hold a show trial of the defenders of Ukraine.

Luhansk Oblast

On August 5th, the enemy fired five rockets in the area of ​​the front line between the Luhansk region and the Donetsk region, and the occupier’s barrel and rocket artillery worked six more times.

Mortars were used three times, and russian assaults were supported by tank fire and aviation.

Southern regions

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Enemy artillery shelling was recorded in populated areas of Pologiv District. The occupiers carried out airstrikes in Orihiv, Gulyaipil areas, and Vasylivsky District. It is also known that the enemy conducted aerial reconnaissance with the help of a drone near the village of Tavriyske.

As a result of russian shelling, 70 hectares of wheat crops were destroyed in the Vasyliv district.

On August 5th, as a result of the shelling of the site of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, power lines were damaged, and one of the plant’s power units was disconnected from the power system and transferred to the reserve. Later, during repeated shelling, the nitrogen-oxygen station and the combined auxiliary building were damaged. Because of this, the Zaporizhzhya NPP is currently operating with the risk of violating radiation and fire safety regulations (possible leakage of radioactive substances). Currently, the consequences of damage to the nitrogen-oxygen station are being eliminated. The station staff found an opportunity to work in such conditions. The russian military occupied all the basements of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, where they are hiding from shelling. Ukrainian personnel currently do not have access to these premises, have no shelter, and are in potential danger.

The Insider suggested that the russian invaders probably mined the engine room of one of the plant’s power units and the area around it.

It is worth remembering that near the village of Vodyane, which is closest to the NPP, there are “Grad” batteries. Russian soldiers store ammunition in close proximity to power units, under overpasses. Part of the ammunition is inside the power unit.

For the third day in a row, the enemy is attacking the suburbs of Zaporizhzhia Oblast and the city itself. On the night of August 6th, the russian military struck one of the infrastructure facilities located in the Shevchenkiv district. According to preliminary information, there are no victims.

Mykolayivska Oblast

Yesterday afternoon, the russian occupiers shelled the residential quarters of the Korabelny district of Mykolaiv. It is known about 21 were wounded, including a 13-year-old teenager. One person died. 21 private houses were damaged. 17 of them have shrapnel hits on the roof, broken windows, and mutilated facades. Another 4 private houses caught fire as a result of shelling. 5 high-rise buildings have broken windows. The buildings of two private enterprises were also damaged.

Tonight, the enemy launched rocket attacks on the city. As a result, two people were seriously injured. Residential buildings were also damaged.

Yesterday, as a result of shelling, a conifer litter fire started twice in the territory of the Halytsyniv forest tract.

Yesterday, around 10:30 p.m., the village of Chervona Dolyna of the Shirokiv community came under fire. As a result, residential buildings and farm buildings in households were damaged. Hits were also on the roads. There was also shelling near Shiroki yesterday.

This morning, approximately at 04:30 a.m., there were shellings outside the villages of Polyana, Stepove, Shiroke, and Chervona Dolyna. As of now, shelling is also taking place with some frequency in Shirokivska hromada.

Central regions

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

At night, russian troops struck Nikopol again. 20 rockets were fired from Grad. A 58-year-old man is hospitalized. 3 more residents of Nikopol went to the hospital on their own. Children’s home of creativity and kindergarten came under fire. Fires broke out in the yards of two private houses. 11 five-story buildings, up to 40 private, 8 commercial buildings, and 4 cars were damaged. A low-pressure gas pipeline, water pipeline, and power lines were broken. Several thousand residents were left without electricity.

In the Kryvorizka district, the enemy targeted the Zelenodol community. The fire covered 4 hectares of fields. It is tamed by 10 firefighters.

A power line was cut in Maryanskyi. A part of the village without light.

Near Kryvyi Rih, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated almost fifty occupiers and seven units of armored vehicles advancing in the north of the Kherson region.

The play “Whistling Through a Hole in the Teeth” was shown in the “Evening Theater” shelter in Dnipro for displaced persons. For the first time, the play was shown back in 2015, and in 2020, an updated version was made. Already during the war, it was modified again by adding live music.

An immigrant from Mariupol opened her own business in Dnipro. With the beginning of a full-scale war, the woman moved to Dnipro, where she opened a small shop at her own expense. She sells dumplings, pelmeni, and other products of her own production.

Every evening at the Dnipro railway station, volunteers meet elderly people and people with disabilities who are leaving the burning regions in an evacuation train. 

In Kryvyi Rih, the support center for displaced persons “I am Mariupol” was opened. The information and cultural hub provides support to all immigrants from Mariupol. There are a psychologist, a medical worker, a lawyer, an employment manager, and a qualified teacher working in the children’s room.

Kirovohradsk Oblast

The day in the community passed calmly, without air raids. The situation in the communities is calm and under control.

Today, more than a hundred residents of Kropivnyc – adults and young people, professionals, and amateurs – took part in the bicycle race. The event is held throughout Ukraine under the auspices of “Ukravtodor”. The highlight of this driving event is charity. The collected funds will go to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the Oleksandriysk City Museum Center named after A.F. Khudyakova workshops on making jewelry from wax using a unique ancient technique are held.

All willing Alexandrians and guests of the city are taught the art of creating beautiful products by master Olga Mityurina. The other day, two master classes were held in the wax technique: decorating icons and making jewelry – flower brooches. The participants of the master class had the opportunity to learn about the traditions of creating and decorating icons, and try to create flowers with their own hands using ancient techniques.

The coordinator of the Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” took part in weaving camouflage nets.

Poltava Oblast 

The military men from Poltava Oblast – Oleksandr Krol, Denis Mykhaylov, Olga Taran, Oleksiy Skrypnyk, Vitalyi Potapenko, were posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” of the III degree by the President of Ukraine.

Poltava received humanitarian aid from the German city of Sindelfingen. Baby food, hygiene products, medicines, clothes, wheelchairs, food and drinking water – all this is very necessary for more than 50 thousand internally displaced persons in Poltava. First Deputy Mayor Valery Parkhomenko arrived for the shipment of aid. He emphasized the importance of the support provided by European cities to the cities of Ukraine thanks to the cities4cities platform.

In the Poltava Oblast, a trophy truck was handed over to the soldiers for use. The car was taken from the occupiers on the third day of the full-scale invasion, when they were 30 km from Lohvytsia. A large convoy of russian vehicles was moving in the Pryluky direction, heading for Kyiv. There, the Ukrainian military broke up the column. Now the truck will serve for the benefit of the soldiers of the Special Operations Forces.

In Kremenchuk, a memorial service was held for those killed in the “Amstor” shopping center. Today is forty days since the day of the russian terrorist act. Relatives of the victims, residents of Kremenchuk, priests gathered near the scene of the tragedy and remembered the victims in a joint prayer.

Denys Khilchenko and Valentyn Moskivets from Poltava Oblast died while defending Ukraine.

The team of AUI “Active Community” in Poltava joined the cultivation of the city garden, which is located next to the abandoned Singing Field named after Marusi Churai, on the territory of the greenhouses of the communal enterprise “Decorative Cultures”. This is a great opportunity to get to know the active people of the city and join the joint work.

Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion 

During the day, the air alarm sounded once.

The past day passed peacefully in the Khmilnyk community.

The sweets from home reminded Oleksandr of his native Nova Hrebla (Kalinivka community, Khmilnyk Raion) and touched the Hero. He thanked his compatriots for the help and support of the Ukrainian army.

Oleksandr Gotsulyak, the head of the Ulaniv сommunity (Khmilnyk Raion), informed the residents about the beginning of the school year and what it will be like for Ulaniv students. He also published photos from shelters.

The coordinator of AUI “Active Community” in Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion, talking with the internally displaced persons, told them about legal assistance, including support in courts (free of charge for IDPs).

Western Oblasts

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

The situation in the region is stable and under control.

On August 5, in Kolomyia and Tlumach in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, the last respects were paid to the fallen soldier, former mayor of the Tlumach community, Roman Kruhovsky. From the first days of the full-scale russian invasion, he became a volunteer soldier. He went to defend his native land in the ranks of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade. Roman Kruhovsky headed Tlumach from 2016 to 2020. He was 42 years old.

In Ivano-Frankivsk Memorial Park, National Guardsmen and residents of Prykarpattya honored fallen National Guardsmen. During the commemoration, the relatives of the three defenders were presented with posthumous awards.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, on Zaliznychnay Street, graffiti appeared in honor of the defenders of Mariupol. It was created by the creative team “zakladka01”. As one of the authors of this work said: “..it was made in memory of the Heroes of Mariupol, who, unfortunately, are in captivity and perishing”.

Volunteers and volunteer staffs continue their active work in the communities of Prykarpattya.

Rivne Oblast

The general situation is relatively calm, as of 13:10 there were no air alarms.

The teachers of the Khoriv school volunteer for the sake of victory. The staff of the institution, as well as residents of the village of Khoriv, which is not far from the city of Ostroh, have already made dozens of cans of currant jam. They also salted 28 buckets of cucumbers, baked 136 kilograms of cookies. Residents of the village send cutlets and self-baked buns to the military. All this is delivered to the areas where hostilities are taking place, as well as to the hospital in Khmelnytskyi. 

Chernivtsi Oblast

The situation in Chernivtsi Oblast is calm and under control.

Residents of Bukovina paid their last respects to senior lieutenants Serhiy Danilyuk and Oleksiy Tkach – courageous warriors who had gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.

22-year-old Valentyn Koval from Kelmentsi Raion was awarded the Order for Courage of the 2nd class: he commands the HIMARS multiple rocket launchers. 

Head of Chernivtsi Oblast Military Administration Ruslan Zaparanyuk, together with the commander of the Western Department of the National Guard of Ukraine Oleksandr Buravkov, presented a high state award – the Order For Courage (posthumously) to the family of the fallen Hero Oleksiy Mykolayovych Kuzmenko. 

A successful dojo operator from Chernivtsi, Oleksandr Lendel, changed his kimono to a set of cammies and volunteered for the front line. 

Houses with solar panels: a modular town for displaced people is being built in a village in Bukovyna. 

Zakarpattia Oblast
