Ukraine in brief:
88th day of the heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the russian military invasion continues.
The enemy does not stop conducting offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone and launching missile and air strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
In the north of Ukraine without significant changes. The enemy continues to fire on settlements and civilian infrastructure in Sumy and Chernihiv Oblasts.
The enemy did not take any active action in the Kharkiv direction during the day. Strengthened the police and administrative regime in the temporarily occupied territories.
In the Donetsk direction, the enemy is trying to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops and reach the administrative borders of Luhansk Oblast. In the Lyman direction, the enemy fired on the settlements of Lyman, Zakitne, Ozerne and Dibrova. He continued to fire on the positions of units of the Defense Forces. In the Bakhmut direction, with the support of artillery, the occupiers tried to improve the tactical position of their units. They fought in the settlements of Toshkivka, Komyshuvakha, Trypillya and Vasylivka.
In the Severodonetsk direction, the enemy fought in the area of the settlement of Prudivka. The occupying forces also tried to launch an offensive to capture the village of Oleksandrivka, but were unsuccessful. From mortars and artillery, the enemy continued to shell the positions of the Defense Forces along the line of contact in this direction.
In the Avdiivka, Kurakhiv, Novopavliv and Zaporizhia directions, a decrease in the intensity of hostilities is recorded. The enemy regroups to strengthen certain areas.
In the Kherson and Mykolaiv Oblasts the enemy didn’t carry out active military operations. Continues to build a second line of defense. Strengthens the artillery group and increases the air defense system.
In the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, enemy naval groups continue to carry out tasks to isolate combat areas and block civilian shipping.
Northern Oblasts
Kyiv Oblast
Polish President Andrzej Duda addressed the Verkhovna Rada. He noted that Poland will do everything possible to help Ukraine become a member of the European Union.
Kyiv
An enemy missile was shot down over the Fastiv district by air defense forces today.
Two more civilians killed by the russian occupiers have been identified in the village of Buzova in the Kyiv Oblast.
211 explosive devices were neutralized in Kyiv Oblast. For the whole time – 34,866.
Deoccupied settlements are coming back to life. Businesses are resuming their work, more and more locals are returning home.
Zhytomyr Oblast
There was an air alarm.
In Zhytomyr, in the garrison house of officers, they said goodbye to Vyacheslav Mishchenko, a serviceman of the First Special Brigade named after Ivan Bohun.
In the Zhytomyr Oblast, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a russian agent who was going to call up a combat unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and spy there in favor of russia.
Chernihiv Oblast
There was an air alarm.
Repair works are underway in the region. Yesterday, power lines continued to be restored in the Bobrovytsia district of Chernihiv.
Demining of the territory of the region continues. Groups of pyrotechnic works and underwater demining were involved in the disposal of explosive devices 25 times, 304 such items were found and neutralized.
Sumy Oblast
Russia continues to fire on the region along the border, using artillery, mortars, small arms, missiles and air strikes. The russians fired in the areas of the settlements of Boyaro-Lezhachi, Ulytsia, Bunyakine, and Hirky in the Sumy Oblast.
During the day of pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service, 133 explosive devices were found, 130 of which were destroyed.
Eastern Oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
Over the past 24 hours, russian troops have continued shelling the city of Kharkiv and settlements in the Oblast.
As a result of the shelling of Saltivka, 5 civilians were injured. The occupiers also fired on Loziv district, the village of Shevchenkove and Chuguiv districts – 3 wounded. 3 more wounded in the city of Dergachi.
Fighting continues in the region. In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy, as in previous days, is focused on maintaining the occupied borders and preventing further advance of the Armed Forces.
In the Izyum region, the russian occupiers are preparing to resume the offensive and are shelling the settlements of Vernopil, Dibrivne and Dovgenke.
Donetsk Oblast
In the past 24hrs, nine enemy attacks have been repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions, five tanks, four artillery systems, ten units of armored combat vehicles and two enemy vehicles have been destroyed. Air defense units hit one Orlan-10 UAV.
Since the beginning of the large-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, 407 civilians have been killed and 1,128 wounded in shelling and bombing in the Donetsk Oblast.
On May 21, the russians killed seven civilians in the Donetsk Oblast: 3 in the Lyman, 2 in Mykolaivka, 1 in Avdiivka, and 1 in Sviatohirsk. Another 10 people were injured.
In addition, one person was registered in Kostiantynivka, who was wounded by russians in Luhansk Oblast.
Kramatorsk
The situation is alarming. No enemy action was recorded. The Armed Forces together with the local Territorial Defense units are preparing to meet the enemy. Residents are asking for help in transporting things left in their homes.
The coordinator of AUI”Active Community” sought and found an opportunity to provide colleagues with electric stoves.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
The enemy tried to breakthrough in the Avdiivka and Mariinka directions. As a result of enemy fire on Avdiivka, one person was mortally wounded.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) soldiers resisted the enemy. The local Territorial Defense Forces units patrolled the territory of the community.
Yesterday, the situation in the Pokrovsk community was relatively calm. There is no information about the victims or destroyed buildings. The city and all its infrastructure are functioning properly.
The Czech Open Poomsae competition was held this week in Havířov, Czechia. Young Myrnohrad athletes from Myrnohrad Territorial Community of Pokrovsk Raion took part in this competition. Hlushko David was the winner among boys, Hlushko Damir won a silver medal among younger boys and Shut Anna won a bronze medal among cadet girls. Myrnohrad athletes took first place among all teams.
Municipal Enterprise “Zelenbud” donated more than 3,000 saplings of white, red, pink and burgundy petunias to some districts of the Pokrovsk community. During this week, starostas (community elders) and active residents took part in decorating flower beds and lawns in the community with flowers.
Bakhmut
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy tried to improve their tactical situation in the areas of Trypillya, Lypove and Vasylivka with artillery. Hostilities continue:

Volnovakha
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched a counterattack against the russists in Volnovakha.
In Volnovakha houses are on fire again. There are dead and wounded people. There is no electricity and gas supply again.
Vuhledar is completely destroyed like many other cities in Ukraine. Almost 2,000 residents, who refused to leave, remain in the city.
The AUI “Active Community” coordinator was preparing for events that will take place in Uman next week. It is an art therapy for women and drawing classes for children.
Mariupol
Yesterday, the russians deported 313 people, including 55 children, from Mariupol to a filtration camp in the village of Bezimyane. People are being deported to russia from these camps in Bezimyane and Nikolske. Yesterday, 245 people, including 29 children, were deported.
The mayor said that spontaneous burials in yards and unsanitary conditions in Mariupol could lead to an epidemic.
In addition, Mariupol residents are forced to collect technical water in underground utility vaults and use it for drinking and cooking food.
The occupying authorities cannot restore the water supply in the city. Their failed attempts caused flooding of the streets.
Luhansk Oblast
The russians damaged a bridge used for the delivery of humanitarian goods to Oblast and evacuation. It cannot be restored until active hostilities stop. The russian army attacks Severodonetsk from the Rubizhne direction. The occupiers tried to enter Severodonetsk from two directions at once but were repulsed.
The russians are deliberately destroying the Severodonetsk Multidisciplinary Hospital.
The Red Cross of Ukraine has set up a temporary medical center in Lysychansk. A doctor and nurse began to treat sick patients in a sheltered basement.
Southern Oblasts
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the fiercest fighting continues on the Huliaipole-Orikhiv line of collision. The situation remains tense and dangerous.
On the night of May 22nd, russian occupation troops launched missiles at the civilian infrastructure of a village near Vilnyansk (Zaporizhzhia Raion). The sounds of explosions could have been heard in Zaporizhzhia. According to preliminary information, there are victims. Relevant services are working.
There was an explosion on Kurchatova Street in Enerhodar in the morning. As a result of the explosion, the self-proclaimed head of the “people’s administration”, collaborator Andriy Shevchyk, was injured. No one else was injured.
Near Vasylivka, the russian occupiers still do not allow hundreds of cars with people into the territory controlled by Ukraine. Most of them have been staying there for 4 days.
The AUI “Active Community” team continues to hold classes on art therapy for internally displaced children and negotiates with foreign partners concerning humanitarian and financial aid.
Kherson Oblast
There were big explosions in Oblast. russia is pulling up its troops, preparing to capture the entire territory on the border of Kherson and Mykolaiv Oblasts.
In the village of Bilozirka, Kherson Oblast, 3 people, including teenagers and a teacher, died. As a result of two failed missile strikes, gas pipelines are broken, the number of the injured is unknown. People cannot leave occupied territories. Roads and exits from the city are mined.
Skadovsk
The situation is getting worse every day. A new self-proclaimed military authority is ruling Skadovsk.
The mayor continues his work remotely. There is no information from him.
Photojournalist Olexandr Kharchikov was taken hostage again.
People are tired and in a panic, but stand together. The russians satisfy people’s food and household needs with products imported from Crimea. People can exchange the medicines. The pharmacies are closed.
The AUI “Active Community” coordinator joined the volunteering. The volunteers gathered information on the needs of medicines for the elderly.
Central Oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the occupiers launched a missile strike on the Pavlohrad Raion. The rocket hit the Samara River.
Due to the war, Dnipro’s budget lost 60% of its revenues. Budget workers continue to receive their salaries and social benefits in full. Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov calls on foreign politicians to provide funds to support Ukraine.
TAPS-Ukraine and the Dnipro Volunteer Coordination Headquarters handed over the humanitarian cargo to the Ukrainian military. This time the volunteers went to Bakhmut, where active hostilities occur. They handed over Kikimora camouflage suits, sleeping bags, hygiene products and food to the soldiers.
Also, the volunteers received another cargo of ground pads, sleeping bags and mattresses, sent from Germany. 3396 sets of the new uniform were sewn for the military.
The Dnipro Volunteer Coordination Headquarters prepared a large cargo with about 360 shampoos and shower gels for the defenders. Doctors together with volunteers have to distribute humanitarian aid from Poland, namely medicines and hygiene products.
In the UK, volunteers have united to help the defenders of Ukraine. The Never Surrender community has sent aid in the amount of $300,000 to Ukrainian defenders. It includes helmets and body armor, range settings, thermographic cameras, pickup trucks, and tactical medicine.

Today Ukraine celebrates the 182nd anniversary of the birth of Mark Lukych Kropyvnytsky, the founder of the Ukrainian Professional Theater. On July 14, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a decision to rename the city of Kirovohrad to the city of Kropyvnytskyi.

Poltava oblast

Khmilnytskyi Raion

The Ukrainian military received another car from the Kalynivka community of Khmilnytskyi raion. This is the twelfth car to be donated to the military units with the assistance of the Kalinov City Council.
A new park was laid out in Berezhany, Khmilnytskyi raion, and more than a hundred seedlings of ornamental trees were planted.
The coordinator of AUI “Active Community” of Khmilnyk and Khmilnytskyi raion met with Yevhen Bolyubash, Deputy Head of the Khmilnytskyi Raion Council and parents of children living in martial law in the sanatorium “Podillya”. Western Oblasts
Rivne Oblast
The area was relatively calm, there was an air alarm.
