Northern Oblasts
Kyiv
The Government of Ukraine has appointed a new head of the Kyiv Military Administration. He became the prosecutor of the Bucha raion prosecutor’s office Ruslan Kravchenko.
The former abbot of the capital’s church, archpriest of the russian Orthodox Church Andrii Tkachev, who called for the killing of Ukrainians, was informed of the suspicion. In social networks, the suspect supported and popularized the actions of the occupying country, spreading russian narratives about secret biolaboratories and «Ukrainian Nazis». Now Tkachev faces up to 5 years in prison.
In Kyiv, on Sofia Square, as part of a meeting of the families of captured and missing Ukrainians, a street exhibition of drawings by children from these families «I’m waiting for you…» was opened. 85 drawings by children from all over Ukraine were presented there. They are planned to be exhibited in other cities of the country and abroad.
Cultural values saved by customs officials from illegal export from Ukraine were presented in Kyiv. Among the 469 exhibits are ancient coins, various orders and medals, items of cold weapons and military equipment from the Bronze Age to the 19th century.
Kyiv Oblast
April 8 is a day of mourning and remembrance in the Bucha community. A year ago on this day, the exhumation of the Mass grave began on the territory of the Church of Andrew the First-Called. Here, on the territory of the temple, 116 bodies were found. In particular, 30 women and two children. Most of them were shot, burned or otherwise killed by the invaders. These were mainly civilians, in particular, hospital patients who could not be buried after February 24, 2022 – the russians did not allow the ritual service to the cemetery.
Representatives of the Oblast government and the mayor of Brovary brought aid to the fighters of the 72nd brigade. A minibus, two pickup trucks, two jeeps, an ambulance, medical supplies and more than 30 Mavik drones were handed over to defenders defending the country in Donetsk Oblast.
In the Boryspil raion near the village of Voronkiv, the remains of an unexploded combat unit of a russian drone shot down earlier were found. Sappers carried out controlled destruction of an explosive object.
Zhytomyr Oblast
In Zhytomyr, two officials and a businessman are suspected of embezzling almost one million hryvnias during the renovation of the barracks of the Zhytomyr Military Institute named after S.P. Korolev.
Residents of the dormitory on Korbutivka in Zhytomyr are looking for ways to compensate for the cost of the housing destroyed by russian airstrikes.
Chernihiv Oblast
Yesterday, russian troops shelled the Novgorod-Siversk community ten times a day in the area of the village of Gremyach. Civilian infrastructure and private households were damaged.
Russian troops launched an airstrike on the border of Chernihiv Oblast. The military recorded two explosions within two settlements of the Semenivka community. They were caused by two guided aerial bombs launched from a russian Su-35 fighter jet from the territory of the russian federation. Houses are damaged.
Sumy Oblast
On the night and morning of April 8, there were 6 shellings from the territory of russia on the border communities of Sumy Oblast – Krasnopillia, Seredyna-Buda, and Velyka Pysarivka. As a result of the shelling, there are no damage losses.
A year ago, on April 8, Sumy Oblast was completely freed from russian terrorists.
Eastern Oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
The russian military attacked Velykyi Burluk. Previously, it was a S-300 missile. Four houses were damaged. There are no injured.
The russian army hit the territory of the hotel and restaurant complex in the Dergachi community with an air-launched Kh-59 missile on the night of April 8. Details are set.
Two people blew themselves up with explosive devices in the Kharkiv Oblast. A woman stepped on a «petal» mine at the cemetery in Izyum, and a man from Slobozhanske was injured while disassembling an unknown explosive object.
Three people were blown up by an unknown explosive device in a field near the village of Mykolaivka. People received injuries of various degrees of severity. During their rescue, another mine detonated. A 51-year-old employee of the State Emergency Service received an explosive facial injury.
The Pechenigy community received almost 50 tons of fodder for chickens and pigs. They were provided to people by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. The bags are delivered to residents of remote villages by public transport.
Donetsk Oblast
The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka and Maryinka directions. Over the past day, Ukrainian soldiers repelled more than 60 attacks.
The russian occupiers announced the shelling of Donetsk in the area of the Covered Market. One person died, 13 were injured.
On April 7, the russians killed 1 resident of Donetsk Oblast — in Torske. In addition, the bodies of 3 people who died earlier were exhumed in Bogorodychne. 1 more person in the Oblast was injured.
Since February 24, 2022, the russians have taken the lives of 1,463 civilians of Donetsk Oblast and injured another 3,361 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
Over the past day, russians attacked Kostyantynivka with artillery and S-300 missiles.
One person died in Torske of the Lyman community. In the Zvanivka community, Zvanivka, Pereizne, and Verkhnekamianske came under fire, without any casualties.
A year ago, on the morning of April 8, 2022, about four thousand people were waiting for an evacuation train at the Kramatorsk railway station. At about 10:30 a.m., russian troops attacked the train station with a “Tochka U” with cluster munitions. A rocket with the inscription “For Children” killed 61 people and injured 121 others.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
One house was damaged in the Toretsk community. In Bakhmut, 2 multi-storey buildings and a kindergarten are known to have been destroyed.
Mariupol
In the temporarily occupied village of Rozivka, 40 kilometers from Mariupol, the occupiers have set up fortifications at a checkpoint, fearing a Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Russians destroyed educational institutions in occupied Mariupol. According to preliminary data, russians damaged 90% of all schools in the city – 54 educational institutions. Of these, 19 have critical damage. 8 schools were completely destroyed.
“Meanwhile in Mariupol”: a photo exhibition of a Mariupol journalist was presented in Sweden. It features photographs by journalist Viacheslav Tverdokhlib. During the blockade, he lived in the basement and documented the events until he left the city on foot. Visitors can also read the diary of eight-year-old Yehor. The boy wrote it during the blockade.
Luhansk Oblast
In temporarily occupied Starobilsk Raion of Luhansk Oblast, where locals resisted the russians at the beginning of the occupation, they began issuing summonses on the streets. For example, in Novopskov, men are being sent for a medical examination. Now, another wave of mobilization has spread to Starobilsk, where the call-ups are being found on the streets.
As of today, less than 10% of the residents of Severodonetsk remain in the city, compared to the number of people who lived there before February 24, 2022.
Another humanitarian hub for internally displaced persons from Luhansk Oblast has been opened in Kharkiv. The hub is run by the Nizhnia Duvanka settlement military administration. It will provide humanitarian aid and organize the reception of specialists to address social issues of IDPs from Luhansk Oblast.
Southern Oblasts
Mykolaiv Oblast
On the night of April 7, the russian army attacked the waters of the Ochakiv community in Mykolaiv Raion.
A court found a resident of Mykolaiv guilty of disseminating information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and adjusting fire on educational buildings. The man was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Community police officers in Mykolaiv Oblast have been involved in the evacuation of residents of frontline areas since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In total, as of April 2023, law enforcement officers have evacuated 2,500 people. Police also deliver food, medicine and other essentials to communities.
In Mykolaiv, as of April 8, 2023, 660 internally displaced persons were registered with the Employment Center. IDPs must register where they are registered, and must also obtain a certificate from the migration service or social security department.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Over the past day, April 7, the russian army fired 65 times at Zaporizhzhia Oblast. 16 settlements came under fire. 23 new destructions were recorded.
In the morning, the russian army shelled Orikhiv, including four air strikes and the use of “Grad” rockets. An elderly man was wounded.
Russians are preparing to evacuate the population of the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast to Crimea. Thus, in Melitopol, they are conducting a survey on possible evacuation. First of all, they check the presence of a russian passport, residence, and education degree.
The russians are installing an additional fence to protect the entrances to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. From now on, ZNPP employees will not be able to drive to the plant but will have to walk part of the way.
Odesa Oblast
In the Black Sea, the russian army replaced a surface missile carrier on duty with an underwater missile carrier, the total volley of which can be up to four “Kalibr”.
In Odesa Oblast, border guards detained a Moldovan citizen who was trying to smuggle out 80 relics of saints, an icon, and a table used during worship.
Footballers of Odesa’s Chornomorets with their head coach Roman Hryhorchuk visited and supported the defenders of Ukraine who are undergoing rehabilitation in a medical facility in Odesa. The institution received a ball signed by the athletes and team symbols as a souvenir. In turn, the military signed and handed over the flag of Ukraine to the players.
Kherson Oblast
During the day of April 7, russian troops shelled the Kherson Oblast 71 times, firing 397 shells, 17 of which hit Kherson. Shells also hit residential quarters, the territory and building of a kindergarten in the Bilozerka community, and a store in Beryslav. Eight people were injured, including two children.
As a result of shelling by russian troops in the village of Stanislav, Kherson Oblast, two children aged three and ten were injured. A total of 94 children have been injured during the full-scale russian invasion in the Kherson Oblast. In Ukraine, 467 children were killed, and more than 946 were injured.
On the evening of April 7, the russian army shelled the center of Beryslav. There were no injured or killed, but the vocational education institution in Beryslav was destroyed after being hit by aerial bombs. The facade and roof of the building were damaged, the windows were broken.
Gas supply has been restored to more than 13,000 objects in the Vysokopillia, Velyka Oleksandrivka communities and the Kherson Raion.
40 tons of humanitarian aid was delivered to Vysokopillia and Velyka Oleksandrivka. Vegetables, stew, cereals, oil, baby food were provided by benefactors from the Cherkasy Oblast.
Central Oblasts
Kirovohrad Oblast
In the Kirovohrad Oblast, social workers of the Red Cross have taken care of more than 350 people. They are participants in the “Care at Home” project. Social workers clean the apartment, cook food and pay for utilities. They provide support to those who are not supported by state social service centers.
The Oblast museum of local history in Kropyvnytskyi presented a photo exhibition of Oleksandr Tkachenko, a soldier from the Rivne community, Novoukrainka Raion, who died near Bakhmut. The exhibition contains 32 photos taken by a serviceman. In total, there are more than 2,500 photos made by Oleksandr. The exhibition was organized by the soldier’s brother Stanislav Prokopchuk.
Cherkasy Oblast
From now on, family members of deceased war veterans and fallen defenders of Ukraine can ride Cherkasy electric transport for free. The right to free travel on trolleybuses will be granted to these categories of citizens in the presence of a certificate of “Member of the family of a deceased war veteran”, “Member of the family of a fallen Defender of Ukraine.”
Within the framework of the “Books for Heroes” project, the law enforcement officers handed over several dozen books to the local hospital, where defenders of Ukraine are currently being treated and undergoing rehabilitation. These are modern Ukrainian literature, fiction and non-fiction books. They will replenish the library of the medical institution and help maintain the fighting spirit of the soldiers.
The non-governmental organization “Unity of the World” handed over a quadcopter to the rescuers of the Cherkasy Oblast. It will help in the fight against fires in the spring and summer period.
Western Oblasts
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, 185 people have been employed at the enterprises relocated to the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. 41 of them are internally displaced persons.
In Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, children’s and adult teams collected approximately 70,000 hryvnias during charity concerts in churches to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
Kamianets-Podilskyi
A dormitory with 3,200 square meters of living space has been restored in the village of Zinkivtsi. 14 residential blocks with two or three rooms, laundry rooms, kitchens, common spaces and an inclusive first floor were created. This makes it possible to accommodate 250 internally displaced persons. Almost 25 million hryvnias of grant funds were used for this.
Activists gathered near the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Kamianets-Podilskyi to collect signatures for the transition of the cathedral to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. 1,385 citizens of the Kamianets-Podilskyi community were registered at the meeting.
Rivne Oblast
More than 1,130 residents of the Rivne Oblast expressed their desire to join the “Offensive Guard”. Of them, 620 volunteers are already at the stage of enrollment in the respective brigades. Some are still passing the military medical commission and participating in training. The recruitment of up to eight assault brigades of the National Guard, the National Police and the State Border Guard Service is ongoing.
There will be no relaxation of the curfew on Easter in the Rivne Oblast. Churches will be closed after 11 p.m. Where possible, services will be held online. The safety of citizens will be a priority.
Chernivtsi Oblast
Servicemen of the 93rd and 94th battalions of the 107th separate brigade of the Bukovyna Territorial Defense Forces have completed courses in tactical medicine and first aid in emergency situations. The soldiers received the rank of “sergeant” and can take the position of combat medic. In the near future, they will return to their units on the front line.
In Chernivtsi, the “One Family” charity fund transports minibuses, jeeps and pickup trucks from Romania. This is done at the request of the leaders of military units, relatives or the military themselves. Also, a fund with several service stations repairs these cars free of charge and buys spare parts for them.
Residents of the Banyliv community collected money and purchased a car and a thermal imager for the needs of the Ukrainian army. The equipment is already on the front line, helping the defenders to bring victory closer.
