Northern regions

Kyiv Oblast

Today, in the Bucha Raion, units of the State Emergency Service were busy destroying explosive devices.

The Bucha community in the Kyiv Oblast will allocate 20 million hryvnias from the local budget to support the families of the fallen defenders. Social protection includes assistance in rebuilding housing and erecting monuments to soldiers.

In the Kyiv Oblast, almost all energy facilities damaged by russian shelling have been restored. According to the State Energy Supervision Inspectorate, the shelling caused varying degrees of damage to the heating and electricity infrastructure, kilometers of power lines, and hundreds of substations and boiler houses. Thanks to the specialists, about 85% of the damaged electric power infrastructure and almost all boiler houses have already been restored in the oblast.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Four servicemen were awarded in Zhytomyr. Major Volodymyr Klymenko received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, Class 3. Soldiers Vasyl Makarchuk, Oleksandr Melnychenko, and Dmytro Humeniuk were awarded the medal “Defender of the Fatherland”.

The military from Zhytomyr, with the assistance of volunteers and philanthropists, developed two their own models of drones: reconnaissance and attack ones. Their goal was to produce an analog of the Chinese reconnaissance drone adapted for combat operations, which would be cheaper than the Chinese models.

The initiators of the art project “Both with Shots and Paints” handed over sets of demining equipment worth almost 65 thousand hryvnias to servicemen of one of the units of the airborne assault troops. In total, since the project’s inception in June 2022, the citizens of Zhytomyr have managed to raise 100 thousand hryvnias for the equipment.

Chernihiv Oblast

On April 9, russian troops shelled the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast. The Semenivka community came under fire. Three explosions of mortar shells were recorded in the territory of the Zarichchia settlement and one more in the direction of the village of Karpovychi.

On April 10, russian troops once again shelled the Novhorod-Siversk community with artillery. The border guards recorded five hits, from tube artillery, in the area of the village of Kamianska Sloboda. No information was reported about casualties among the local population or damage to civilian infrastructure.

The Chernihiv Oblast ranks third among the oblasts where medical institutions have been most affected. The damage caused is estimated at 259 million US dollars. In the oblast, 28 medical facilities were damaged during active hostilities.

Sumy Oblast

On April 9, russians shelled the territories of the Nova Sloboda and Bilopillia communities in the Sumy Oblast. As a result of the shelling, two private houses and power lines were damaged in the Bilopillia community.

On the night of April 9-10, russians shelled the Seredyna-Buda community. 20 hits were recorded. Preliminarily, there were no consequences.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Over the past day, the enemy fired at the border and frontline settlements in the Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, and Kupiansk raions of the oblast.

At least 15 private houses were damaged by shelling in the village of Kurylivka, Kupiansk Raion. Also, a residential building in the village of Petropavlivka was destroyed.

A 36-year-old civilian man was wounded as a result of mortar shelling of the village of Karaichne in the Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv Raion. He was hospitalized in a serious condition.

A fire broke out in the forest near the village of Podoly in the Kupiansk Raion due to a hit from a Grad MLRS.

In general, mine danger remains high in the Kharkiv Oblast. In the village of Snizhkivka, Izium Raion, a 38-year-old civilian man hit an anti-personnel “butterfly” mine in his garden. He was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds.

Over the past day, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service inspected more than 4 hectares of territory and deactivated 99 explosive devices.

Donetsk Oblast

Near Donetsk, the Ukrainian military destroyed a russian D20 gun-howitzer position with ammunition. It was discovered during aerial reconnaissance of the area.

Over the past day, the russians wounded 4 residents of the Donetsk Oblast. In total, since the onset of the full-scale war on February 24, 2022, the russian army has killed 1,463 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 3,367 people.

There is still no way to establish the exact number of the dead in Volnovakha and Mariupol.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

The day before, the russians attacked Druzhkivka with Smerch MLRS, wounding 2 people and damaging 10 houses. The enemy also fired two S-300 missiles at Kramatorsk, causing no casualties.

On April 9, the russian troops fired five times at the Kostiantynivka community, using artillery, S-300s, and launching a missile strike. One person was wounded in the shelling of Kostiantynivka. The Novodmytrivka, Predtechyne and Mykolaivka starosta districts also came under fire.

On the night of April 10, the russian aggressor shelled Kramatorsk and hit the cemetery. The consequences of destruction are being established.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

Over the last day, in the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled thirty attacks and stopped the offensive of the occupation forces near Bohdanivka and Khromove.

Shelling was recorded in the villages of the Soledar community and on the outskirts of the Toretsk and Chasiv Yar communities.

Periodic shelling took place in Zvanivka, Pereizne, and Verkhniokamianske of the Zvanivka community, several houses were damaged in Siversk.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

Over the past day, the enemy hit the cities of Avdiivka, Kurakhove, the villages of Kamianka, Lastochkyne, and Mykolaivka. The occupiers fought with aircraft, S-300 air defense systems, Grad, Smerch, artillery, mortars.

So, the russian military destroyed two entrances of an apartment building in Avdiivka in the evening of April 9. 

One person was injured in Kurakhovo. The city was hit by “Hurricanes”, seven two-apartment buildings and the territory of the enterprise were damaged. Another 11 houses were damaged in Dachne. 

Marinka, Krasnohorivka and Maksymilianivka were shelled during the day. In the morning, the russians shelled Ocheretyne and Avdiivka. A house was damaged.

Today, Avdiivka suffered another airstrike. Another high-rise building was destroyed. Fortunately, there were no casualties, as all residents of the building evacuated in time. In total, about 1,800 people remain in Avdiivka. All of them risk their lives every day. 

On April 10, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed a russian Mi-24 helicopter in the Avdiivka direction, reported the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after Colonel-General Mark Bezruchka.

Five alternative power sources arrived in Pokrovsk from caring residents of the Georgian city of Zugdidi. There, everyone collected funds for the purchase of generators and their delivery. The parcel also contained a flag with the signatures of people who joined the charity.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

No one was injured in the Volnovakha direction under fire from Ugledar and Bohoyavlenka.

Mariupol

The occupiers are evicting an entire village of the Mariupol Raion in order to house their troops. Near the village of Nikolske in the middle of the forest is the village of Lisne. Such accommodation is convenient, therefore, with the help of a local collaborator Mukha Natalia, the occupiers began to evict the residents.

In occupied Mariupol, russians painted over a mural against violence. This project was implemented by the UN Human Rights Mission in Ukraine. The mural depicted a Rubik’s cube. It symbolized the ideas of diversity and equality.

Luhansk Oblast

Novoselivske, Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka were subjected to artillery shelling by the invaders over the past day.

In the Luhansk Oblast, over the course of two days, Ukrainian border guards shot down two reconnaissance UAVs of the occupiers. One was landed with the help of EW, and the other was shot with small arms.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday, April 9, the enemy attacked the settlement of the Kutsurub community with anti-aircraft missiles. There were no injuries or damage.

In Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

During the past day, April 9, the russian military shelled civilian infrastructure in the vicinity of 15 settlements of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast: three times they attacked from aviation, once they used a drone and 58 times artillery. Houses of civilians, farm buildings and a modern educational institution in a small village were destroyed.

The russian military carried out another air attack on the cities of Orihiv and Huliaipole of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. There have been no casualties or injuries. The territory of a farm and a bakery in the city of Orihiv was destroyed. 

Today, April 10, in Zaporizhzhia, specialists of the city’s specialized emergency rescue service “Cobra”, volunteers, citizens and utility workers continue to eliminate the consequences of missile fire, which the russian army inflicted on April 9. 

In Zaporizhzhia and on the territory of territorial communities that are part of the Zaporizhia Raion, the curfew has been shortened from 00:00 to 05:00. The curfew lasts from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in the rest of the Zaporizhzhya Oblast, except for the territories of the oblast temporarily occupied by the russian federation.

Odesa Oblast

The Security Service of Ukraine detained a conscript of the Naval Forces in Odesa, who, according to the investigation, worked for the russian special services, handed over the location of headquarters, military equipment and ammunition depots to the russian military. Tried to find where the HIMARS installations are placed. 

Today, April 10, is the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the hero city of Odessa from the Nazi invaders. The authorities and the community honored the memory of the liberators and laid flowers at the “Wings of Victory” memorial and at the monument to the Unknown Sailor. 

Kherson Oblast

During the day of April 9, russian troops shelled the Kherson Oblast 78 times, firing 360 shells on its territory. 17 shells hit residential quarters in Kherson, as well as garages in Korabelny district. There are no casualties or injuries.

In the morning, the russian military shelled a hospital in the Suvorovsky district of Kherson. There were no serious damages or casualties. The art museum building was destroyed by shelling. There are no casualties.

The police evacuated two more families from Kozatske of the Nova Kakhovka community: an eight-year-old boy with his mother, a 13-year-old teenager with his mother and grandmother. They were taken to Kherson, where they were handed over to volunteers.

Another 24 children who were taken away by the russian military during the occupation were returned to the Kherson Oblast. It was one of the most difficult missions carried out by the volunteers of the “Save Ukraine” Charitable Foundation. Before releasing the children, the russians interrogated them for 13 hours and forced them to participate in a propaganda report. 

Central oblasts

Kirovohrad Oblast

In the Kirovohrad Oblast, social passports will be developed for four communities: the Velyka Severynka, Popelnaste, Petrove and Novoukrainka communities. This will be done within the framework of the project “Supporting the capacity of the social protection system of the population regarding the registration of internally displaced persons”. It is expected that this tool of public management of local development will make it possible to assess the community’s potential, expand the range of social services, and make life in the community more comfortable.

In Kropyvnytskyi, the military-patriotic competition “Young defender” was held. As part of the event, the instructors of the 121st Brigade conducted classes on tactical medicine and fire training. The students got acquainted with various types of weapons, their technical characteristics, and also learned how to provide first aid to themselves and their comrades.

Students in the premises of the Central Ukrainian State University depicted ethnic Ukrainian ornaments and motifs on the walls. With their drawings, the students reflected the experiences of youth during the war. In this way, they strive to modernize and give bright colors to the walls of the soviet shelter.

Cherkasy Oblast

In Cherkasy, citizens can learn to pilot combat drones. The training course lasts at least three weeks, after which the student receives a corresponding certificate. The plans include the mass production of drones for the military.

The military handed over a part of the turret from the knocked-out enemy tank to the Cherkasy Oblast Museum of Local Lore. On a piece of destroyed armored vehicles remained the sign “Z” drawn by the russian occupiers. The exhibit was brought by volunteers of “Our Battalion” from the Donetsk Oblast. The fighters also handed over a russian-made gas grenade. This is a prohibited weapon that the enemy uses against Ukrainian fighters. It can serve as evidence of russian war crimes during the proceedings at the Hague Tribunal.

Poltava Oblast

The Poltava Oblast is the leader among the regions that issued the most vouchers. Such documents make it possible to undergo additional training paid for by the state and, as a result, to master a new profession or improve qualifications. Since the beginning of the year, the oblast employment service has issued 344 vouchers.

22 safety classes have been created in educational institutions of the Poltava Oblast. During classes, children and young people are told about the rules of fire safety, mine safety, civil defense and self-defense skills. The goal is to teach the youth to react correctly in critical situations.

The “white on white” embroidery has a chance to be added to the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine submitted the nomination files of three elements for inclusion in this list. In particular, the “white on white” embroidery technology from Reshetylivka.

Western Oblasts

Lviv Oblast

Car mechanics and students of the Lviv School of Computer Technologies and Construction developed “Gurkit” buggies for the military. It is designed for a crew of three people – machine gunners and one driver. The car also has a place for evacuating the wounded and placing ammunition. The buggy is equipped with a night vision camera and special mounts for machine guns.

A teenager from Bakhmut was saved in Lviv Children’s Hospital. He and his mother did not leave the city until the boy received numerous injuries due to a mine explosion. One of the fragments got stuck near the heart. Lviv surgeons performed several operations on him.

Rivne Oblast

The formation of “Offensive Guard” brigades continues in the Rivne Oblast. Currently, there are already 1,153 volunteers in the oblast who want to join its ranks. Of them, 714 are already at the stage of enrollment in the respective brigades.

The Rivne Oblast Council decided to ban the Ukrainian orthodox church of the moscow patriarchate on the territory of the region. They also appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with a request to terminate the lease agreements with religious organizations that do not fulfill the requirements of Ukrainian legislation.

114 craftswomen from all over Ukraine have joined the project #сорочкадлязахисника [#shirt_for_defender]. These are volunteers who want to support soldiers. Among them is Myroslava Horobets, a resident of Rivne. She is already working on her seventh embroidered shirt. In total, the project participants created and handed over 150 shirts for the military, and they continue to work.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Last year, the Kharkiv enterprise “Green Plastic” was evacuated to Chernivtsi. There, the waste is processed into pellets, which are later used to make common household items. In Chernivtsi, the enterprise started another business – processing of rubber tires and plastic into eco-fuel.

Part of the modular boiler houses from UNICEF Ukraine arrived in Chernivtsi. In addition to high power and mobility, their main advantage is work on alternative fuel sources. Schools will be equipped with these boiler rooms. In case of an emergency, they will be used for heating points.

The Kitzman primary medical care center received a humanitarian cargo – a modern hematology analyzer. It will help to conduct clinical and laboratory analysis of more patients, in particular, internally displaced persons. The equipment arrived thanks to cooperation with the international organization “Doctors of the World”.

Shelters for women and mothers with children who suffered from domestic violence began operating in the Mamaivtsi community. It was arranged by the village council together with the “Eleos-Ukraine” network. The shelter has all the necessary conditions for a comfortable stay. In addition to housing, shelter residents have the opportunity to receive social, psychological and legal services.

Educational institutions of the Chernivtsi Oblast organized the #Marathon_of_Unity_of_Bukovyna. Its members united to prepare goodies for the warriors.

200 cherry blossoms were planted in Novodnistrovsk. “Victory Alley” – this is the name of the new vibrant decoration of the city. Trees were planted by educators, employees of culture, sports, the city council, utility workers and other services.

Zakarpattia Oblast

Border guards discovered two ancient books in the trunk of a car headed for Slovakia. These are “Lives of the Saints” 1906 edition and “Rules for Holy Communion” 1900 edition. Customs officials seized antiques. Experts will soon determine their historical and cultural value.

A photo exhibition about the life of Zakarpattia Roma is open in the Uzhgorod castle. Roma are the fifth largest nationality in the Zakarpattia Oblast. They began to appear in this region at the beginning of the 15th century. A temporary photo exhibition was opened in the Uzhgorod castle for International Roma Day.
