Kyiv Oblast
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Ukraine today. He met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. At a joint press conference, Stoltenberg stated that “Ukraine’s rightful place is in NATO” and supported Zelenskyi’s peace plan.

Polish voivodships provide Ukraine and Zhytomyr Oblast with humanitarian aid on an ongoing basis, providing generators, medicines, tactical equipment, food kits, hygiene products, as well as providing passenger buses and special equipment for rescuers and medics of Zhytomyr Oblast.
Chernihiv Oblast
Yesterday, April 19, border guards found a downed drone belonging to the occupiers in a forest strip near the border of Chernihiv region with Russia.
On April 20, russian troops shelled the border areas of Chernihiv Oblast. Two villages in the Semenivka community came under fire. The military recorded two hits, probably from a 120-mm mortar, in the area of the village of Gremyachka and four hits, probably from a 120-mm mortar, in the village of Galaganivka. As a result of the shelling, three local residents were wounded. One of the injured received shrapnel wounds to the head and died in hospital.
Sumy Oblast
During yesterday’s day, the russians shelled the border communities of the Sumy Oblast: Yunakivka, Bilopillya, Shalygine, Novo Sloboda and Khotyn. A total of 52 hits from mortars, artillery and grenade launchers were recorded.
At night and in the morning of April 20, russian forces twice shelled the territory of the Bilopillya community with mortars. 12 hits were recorded. There are no consequences.
Eastern Oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
Last day, the enemy continued to attack the civilian infrastructure and civilians of the Kharkiv, Kupyansk and Chuguyiv raions.
In particular, Strelecha, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Petropavlivka, Kupyansk, Dvorichna and other settlements were under enemy fire.
In Kupyansk, as a result of enemy shelling, a private residential building was damaged and a fire broke out. There were no casualties during the day.
Demining works are ongoing. Over the past day, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service inspected more than 15 hectares of territory and neutralized 283 explosive objects.
Donetsk Oblast
Over the past day, the occupiers shelled 10 settlements in Donetsk Oblast. Private and high-rise buildings, a hospital and a kindergarten were damaged.
On April 19, the russians killed 1 resident of Donetsk Oblast— in Kostyantynivka. 2 more people in the region were injured.
Since February 24, 2022, russian weapons have killed 1,477 civilians in Donetsk Oblast, and another 3,414 have been injured. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion
Last night, the russians fired several shots at Kostyantynivka and the surrounding communities. One person died as a result of the shelling. In the city, 2 two-story buildings, 8 private houses, 8 cars, as well as a school in Virolyubivka were damaged.
Isolated shelling of Siversk and the community was recorded in the Lysychansk direction.
Another 15 people were evacuated from the Kostyantynivka community. Among them are 2 children. They were taken out under artillery fire.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion
In the Avdiyivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the areas of Avdiyivka, Vodiane and Pervomaiske, without success.
Kurakhove and Hirnyk of the Kurakhove community, Novooleksandrivka of the Grodivka community, Maryinka, Avdiyivka and the outskirts of the Ocheretyne community came under fire. There was no information about the victims.
In the Maryinka direction, our defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Pobieda settlements yesterday.
The Pokrovsk community received 11 generators from the International Organization for Migration for starosta`s districts. They will be placed in administrative buildings and social infrastructure facilities of the starosta`s districts.
The «Proliska» humanitarian mission launched a free bus through the villages of the Pokrovsk community for local residents. 33 passengers have already used it. He takes local residents to hospitals, banks and administrative offices. Due to the infrastructure destroyed by the russians, people are unable to receive services in their villages, near the front line.
Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion
The enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Heavy fighting continues for the city of Bakhmut. During the past day, our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the area of the Khromove settlement.
As a result of shelling by the russian army, 2 houses were damaged in the Toretsk community, and the surroundings of the Chasiv Yar and Soledar communities were shelled.
Volnovakha and Volnovakha raion
More than 30 shellings of Vugledar were recorded in the Volnovakha direction – we are establishing the consequences. Novoukrayinka also came under the fire of Grads — without casualties.
Luhansk Oblast
Yesterday, the enemy tried to improve the tactical position, conducting unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of the southern outskirts of Kreminna and Serebrianka forestry.
Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Dibrova, Kuzmine and Bilogorivka were subjected to artillery fire.
Southern Oblasts
Mykolayiv Oblast
On the night of April 20, the enemy attacked Ochakiv with anti-aircraft guns. Residential buildings, vehicles and objects of civil infrastructure were damaged.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
During the past day, April 19, the russian military shelled 13 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. They struck 86 blows from various types of weapons. There are no casualties or injuries.
The russian army once again shelled the city of Gulyaipole, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. As a result of shelling, a private residential building was completely destroyed. There was no information about the dead or injured.
In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, Viktor Savchenko, Andriy Rybnytskyi, Dmytro Hassai, Dmytro Hlek and Roman Dzyuba lost their sports titles due to cooperation with the russians. Until recently, they were famous for their sports achievements. Now – sold themselves to the enemy for rubles.
Odesa Oblast
On April 19, Odesa was shelled by kamikaze drones from a new batch received by the russian army. For some time, this type of weapon was not used, as it was expected to arrive.
In Odesa, work on the Strategy for the Recovery and Development of the Oblast has started. It will take place taking into account the opinion of the public, business, educational institutions, local self-government bodies and interested persons.
Kherson Oblast
Yesterday, more than 35 settlements were under fire from russian troops in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia areas.
The enemy shelled Kherson 5 times. Shells hit the building of the critical infrastructure enterprise, the territory of the auto enterprise and the dispensary. Six people were injured.
And at night, the Oblast center came under fire again.
Today, russian troops shelled the village of Kizomys, probably with guided aerial bombs. Civil infrastructure objects, residential buildings, commercial premises and motor vehicles were damaged. Currently, it is known about the death of a 59-year-old man, the number of injured is being specified.
In total, since the beginning of the de-occupation of Kherson and the settlements of the community, 310 people have died as a result of russian shelling, including one child, and another 312 people have been injured, including eight children.
Over the course of a day, sappers defused 85 explosive items in the de-occupied part of Kherson Oblast. More than five and a half hectares of territory were surveyed.
Central Oblasts
Kirovohrad Oblast
A business accelerator, an environment for supporting startups, is starting to operate in the Novoukrainsky district of Kirovohrad Oblast. Residents of all 13 communities will be able to use it. This was made possible by signing a grant agreement to allocate two million hryvnias. The money is provided by the German government and the European Union.
In Kropyvnytskyi, 150 food packages were distributed to IDPs. This is charitable aid raised by the faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Australia and New Zealand. The cost of one charity food package is 800 hryvnias. It is planned to distribute 520 more sets for IDPs by April 21.
Farmers in Kirovograd Oblast are increasing their capacity to complete the sowing season in a timely manner. Early spring grains and pulses have already been sown on an area of over 49 thousand hectares, which is more than 60% of the planned amount. We have also started sowing grain corn.
Cherkasy Oblast
Cherkasy deminers are clearing mines in the de-occupied Kharkiv Oblast. The most difficulties for the sappers are caused by “surprises” from the occupiers, made with their own hands. They significantly slow down the demining process because they vary in size and weight, which poses a particular danger.
Cherkasy students collect old computers and phones and recycle them for the needs of the Armed Forces. They are trying to give modern models a second life, while old ones are disassembled into spare parts that are used for the military.
Spring flooding continues in Cherkasy Oblast. 162 households have been flooded. Twenty-one people have been evacuated from the flooded areas. Mobile control points have been deployed in Cherkasy and Zolotonosha Raions, and mobile patrols are operating.
Poltava Oblast
Foreign delegations from the twin cities of Myrhorod visited Poltava. These are from Polish Zgorzelec and from Bulgaria’s Gorna Oryahovitsa. They visited Kremenchuk, which suffered the most from russian missile strikes in Poltava Oblast. They inspected the site of an enemy missile hit on the Amstor shopping center. We honored the memory of the 22 people innocently killed. During the meeting on the eve of the International Summit of Cities and Oblasts “Partnership for Victory”, the parties discussed further cooperation to restore Ukrainian settlements.
For the first time, Poltava hosts a free “Festival of Opportunities” organized by the Center for Culture and Leisure. The event was created to support modern mothers and at the same time help with the rehabilitation of Andriana Susak, an injured Aidar defender.
One of the streets in Poltava is proposed to be renamed in honor of the fallen countryman Yevhen Brakh. The working group will receive a recommendation to rename Pushkin Street in honor of the Hero.
Western Oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
The posthumous award, the Order “For Courage” of the III degree, was handed over to the family of the fallen soldier from Prykarpattia, Viktor Chernov. He was killed on April 23, 2022, as a result of a military engagement and massive artillery shelling near the village of Katerynivka in Luhansk Oblast.
Mykhailo Grabar, a blogger from Ivano-Frankivsk, raised more than UAH 9 million for the Armed Forces. The money was used to buy cars, nine drones, four thermal imagers, and hundreds of turnstiles to form tactical first aid kits. On April 20, Volunteer Appreciation Day, he received the Pride of Ivano-Frankivsk Territorial Community award.
Students of Ivano-Frankivsk Higher Art Vocational School No. 3, together with craftsmen and teachers, are making beds for Ukrainian soldiers. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they have made several hundred beds.
In Kolomyia in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, charity concerts raised 92,696 UAH, 10 dollars, and 10 euros for the Armed Forces. On April 23, another charity concert will be held by the combined Edelweiss and Big Band Kolomya orchestras.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
In Shepetivka, the Order “For Courage” of the III degree (posthumously), a distinction of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, was presented to the young son of the soldier Yurii Kasymov. The soldier was killed on October 9, 2022, during an artillery attack in Donetsk Oblast.
In Khmelnytskyi, 200 border guards donated 450 milliliters of blood each as part of the “Give Blood to Save Lives” campaign.
Chernivtsi Oblast
A safety class has been opened in Chernivtsi at the SES. There, rescuers and psychologists teach children how to properly deal with explosive devices and act in emergency situations. During the lesson, students put on rescuers’ uniforms and helmets, sit on poufs and watch educational videos with the dog Patron.
A century-old keptar (short sleeveless fur coat) from the village of Shyshkivtsi in the Kitsman Raion was purchased for the collection of the Ivan Honchar Museum in Kyiv. The keptar became the first purchase for the Common Heritage project to replenish museum collections. This keptar was made in the first half of the twentieth century.
