Northern oblasts
Kyiv
Melanie Joly, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit. At a press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, she said that Canada had provided $9.5 billion worth of aid, including $2.4 billion in military aid. The process of drafting a free trade agreement between Canada and Ukraine is also nearing completion.
Kyiv Oblast
The Security Service of Ukraine has identified four russian servicemen who took part in repressions against civilians during the occupation of the Kyiv Oblast. They were involved in abductions, brutal beatings and torture of civilians in the Bucha and Brovary raions. They will be tried in absentia for war crimes.
In Irpin, 31 houses in the private sector, where hostilities took place at the beginning of the invasion, have been overhauled. Another 30 houses are currently being rebuilt.
Irpin will receive more than 800 Wi-Fi access points and software from the Americans. The equipment can automatically switch to the offline mode in case of a sudden loss of connection. It is planned to be installed in schools and kindergartens. In particular, shelters for educational institutions will be outfitted.
Zhytomyr Oblast
In Zhytomyr, the families of eight fallen soldiers who were killed in action defending Ukraine were presented with posthumous state awards – the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky and Orders for Courage.
In Zhytomyr, police are checking the information about mining of all colleges, institutes and universities in the city. The police received a report about this from the director of one of the lyceums.
In the village of Vakulenchuk, Zhytomyr Oblast, adaptive clothing is being made for Ukrainian soldiers undergoing treatment in hospitals. About ten local women design the patterns and sew the ready-made clothes on their own.
Another religious community in the Zhytomyr Oblast joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The rector of the church remained in the Ukrainian Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Chernihiv Oblast
Russians shelled the border areas of the Snovsk and Semenivka communities in the Chernihiv Oblast with mortars. No casualties have been reported.
Sumy Oblast
Over the past day, the russian army fired 23 times at the territory of the Sumy Oblast. 107 explosions were recorded. Five communities came under shelling.
At night, the russian army attacked the Khotyn and Krasnopillia communities in the Sumy Oblast. 30 explosions were recorded. The shelling of the Khotyn community resulted in damages to private houses, apartment buildings and a local agricultural company. Livestock was also affected.
Eastern oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
About 17 settlements in the Kharkiv Oblast were shelled by the russian forces over the last day. In particular, Vovchansk came under fire, with at least four buildings damaged.
In the afternoon, russia attacked Vilkhuvatka in Kupiansk Raion with three guided aerial bombs. The bombing destroyed the buildings of an agricultural enterprise, and damaged some structures on nine private territories, as well as power lines. According to preliminary reports, no one was injured.
In the Izium Raion, unmanned aerial vehicles twice hit the territory of the gas processing plant in the village of Andriivtsi. According to preliminary data, there was no gas leak and no one was injured.
Over the last day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled five russian troops’ assaults near Ivanivka in the Kupiansk sector.
Donetsk Oblast
Yesterday, the russian army carried out air strikes on 14 settlements in the Donetsk Oblast , including Avdiivka, Ocheretyne, and Vuhledar.
Ukrainian troops repelled 36 assaults by the russian occupation forces in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Most of the hostilities took place in the Avdiivka sector.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
On February 1, the russian army attacked Myrnohrad with a Grom-E1 missile.
The russian invaders shelled Avdiivka with missiles and artillery. A civilian was wounded, while two nine-story buildings and two private houses were destroyed.
The russian forces dropped a KAB-500 bomb on Hirnyk. Two private and 17 apartment houses, a kindergarten and two educational institutions were damaged. There has been no reports of casualties.
The occupiers hit a company in Tsukuryne with two S-300 missiles.
The village of Veselyi Hai was attacked by Uragan MLRS, as a result of which six private houses were damaged.
Luhansk Oblast
The russian army carried out air strikes on Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast yesterday.
The court sentenced in absentia a female resident of the Luhansk Oblast, who headed a school in Stanytsia Luhanska under the occupation authorities and was promoting the adoption of the russian education standards, to three years in prison.
Southern oblasts
Mykolaiv Oblast
Over the past day, russian troops fired artillery at communities in Mykolaiv region six times. There were no casualties.
In the Mykolaiv Oblast, the Security Service detained a man suspected of collaborating with the russian troops. The resident of Snihurivka Raion was “ratting out” Ukrainians who tried to leave through checkpoints during the occupation.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Over the past day, russian troops conducted 153 attacks on 25 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Thirteen reports of the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were received.
A 40-year-old resident of Mala Tokmachka and a 33-year-old resident of Preobrazhenka were wounded as a result of shelling by the russian army on February 1.
On February 1, 2024, employees of the Ukrainian “Energoatom” who did not sign contracts with “Rosatom” were prohibited from entering the ZNPP at the temporarily seized Zaporizhzhya NPP. The IAEA reported that the director general of the agency, Raphael Grossi, will visit the Zaporizhzhia NPP next week.
Odessa Oblast
Environmentalists calculated the damage from the russian drone attack on Odessa on the night of January 17. The amount came to more than 30 million hryvnias.
Kherson Oblast
Over the past day, the russian military shelled the Kherson Oblast 279 times. 1,606 shells were fired from artillery, mortars, anti-aircraft guns, tanks, UAVs and aviation. They attacked residential quarters of settlements in the Oblast. There are dead and wounded.
In Beryslav of the Kherson Oblast, as a result of shelling by the russian federation, two French volunteers were killed and three more were wounded. Among the wounded is also an activist of the organization’s Ukrainian representative office.
As a result of the russian shelling of Bilozerka with artillery and Grad MLRS, more than ten buildings were damaged. Some are significantly destroyed. There are no casualties or injuries.
At night, the russian army attacked the southern regions of Ukraine with “Shahed-131/136” kamikaze drones. Fighters destroyed two drones in the Kherson Oblast. Combat work of air defense units lasted about six hours.
During the day, the russian army attacked Ingulets in the Kherson Oblast twice. A woman was injured during the first shelling. Later, the russian military attacked the settlement for the second time. The injured man was hospitalized with an explosive injury and shrapnel wounds to his legs.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
As a result of the February 1 attack on the Pokrovsk community, a 37-year-old man received shrapnel wounds and a fracture. The victim was hospitalized in a moderate condition.
On the night of February 2, the russian army attacked Kryvyi Rih with drones. There was a hit, which led to the blackout of more than 40 thousand subscribers. As of 17:00, all consumers have electricity. More than 100 workers of two mines also found themselves underground. They have already been brought to the surface.
The occupiers hit the Nikopol Raion with artillery. They aimed at Marhanets and Myrove communities. There are no dead or injured.
Air defense forces shot down three “shaheds” over the Oblast.
Kirovohrad Oblast
That night, three russian drones were destroyed by air defense forces on the territory of Kirovohrad Oblast. The russian army targeted an infrastructure facility in the Kirovohrad Oblast. People were not injured.
Volodymyr Buksha, a military man from Kirovohrad Oblast, continued his walking marathon today, February 2, with a prosthesis and crutches. In this way, he collects money to support his brothers from the 56th brigade. He started the marathon on January 22 from his native village of Zlinka. During the first stage of the marathon, Volodymyr collected 67,000 hryvnias, which he used to order spare parts for the 37th battalion.
Vinnytsia Oblast
In Vinnytsia, 12 families of veterans completed a course of a new social service within seven days. Specialists conducted both group and individual sessions with families, taught self-regulation skills, and worked with the personal needs and problems of each participant.
Western Oblasts
Khmelnytsyi Oblast
Volodymyr Zelensky presented the award of the President of Ukraine “Cross of Combat Merit” to 22-year-old lieutenant Vadym Tymoshchuk from Khmelnytskyi. Currently, the soldier is serving in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
In Khmelnytskyi Oblast, the executive committee of the Krasyliv city council decided to provide free travel in city transport for local residents on Saturdays and Sundays from February 1, during the period of martial law in Ukraine.
Chernivtsi Oblast
Four servicemen from the Chernivtsi Oblast were awarded the “Golden Cross” badge of honor by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny for the successful performance of combat tasks and high indicators of combat training. Another soldier was awarded the “Silver Cross”.
Chernivtsi became the second city in Ukraine to implement an innovative practice of communicating with the authorities: Chernivtsi City Council opened a digital reception desk through the E-cab.city.cv.ua platform. Now every resident can easily contact deputies using a personal office, which replaces traditional reception rooms.
The Novoselytsia City Council signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Kupyansk Military Administration. Therefore, teachers, parents and students of Novoselytskyi Lyceum No. 3 organized an action during which they collected what was necessary for the hospital in Kupyansk and handed over bed linen and clothes for wounded soldiers.
Zakarpattia Oblast
According to the results of the meeting of the Ukrainian and Hungarian delegations in Zakarpattia, the participants reached an understanding and agreements regarding the development and expansion of the network of checkpoints in order to increase their throughput.
In 2023, the Uzhhorod City Territorial Community continued to support the Program for Strengthening the Social Protection of Uzhhorod Residents “Good Deed”. Thanks to this, 1,350 residents of Uzhhorod received financial assistance in the total amount of over 5 million hryvnias.
The collection of project ideas for the development of Zakarpattia has started: you can submit your proposals until February 29. The main condition is that the idea must meet the goals of the Oblast Development Strategy for the period until 2027: human-oriented development; increasing the competitiveness of the Oblast; environmental protection and balanced development of mountainous and rural areas of the Oblast.
Since February 5, a quarantine has been introduced in general secondary education institutions of Uzhhorod. This is due to a sharp increase in morbidity among children.
