Ukraine marks the Day of Struggle for the Rights of the Crimean Tatar People and commemorates the victims of the Crimean Tatar genocide on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of their mass deportation.
NORTHERN OBLASTS
Kyiv
On the Maidan in Kyiv, another action of family members of servicemen in support of the law on demobilization took place. This is already the 11th picket. Similar actions were held in many other Ukrainian cities.
Zhytomyr Oblast
A rehabilitation department is being prepared for opening at the Berdychiv City Hospital. 5 million hryvnias were allocated for the repair of the premises and the purchase of equipment at the session of the city council.
Chernihiv Oblast
The russian army shelled four villages in four border communities of the region during the day on May 17. The fire was conducted from mortars and barrel artillery. Border guards recorded 38 explosions.
Sumy Oblast
The russian army bombarded Sumy Oblast with unguided rockets, drones, and mortars – 183 explosions were recorded during the day.
On the night and morning of May 18, the russian military carried out 15 attacks on the Sumy Oblast. 62 explosions were recorded.
A 40-year-old man was injured as a result of mortar fire in the Esman community. He received shrapnel wounds in his yard and was hospitalized.
EASTERN OBLASTS
Kharkiv Oblast
35 people were injured as a result of an attack on Kharkiv on May 17. Four people died.
A 53-year-old man was injured as a result of the shelling of Lyptsi with an anti-aircraft missile.
As a result of the strikes in Cherkassy Tyshki, Zemlyany Yar, Bily Kolodyaz, and Podolih, residential buildings, farm buildings, and garages were damaged.
As of the morning of May 18, 9,907 people were evacuated in Kharkiv Oblast, 2,726 local residents were evacuated from Chuguyiv raion of the region. Currently, about 100 people remain in Vovchansk. From the Lipetsk direction, from the southern part of Vovchansk, evacuation continues under fire.
On the night of May 18, drones attacked energy facilities in the Kharkiv Oblast. There are no injuries, but there is damage to the equipment, the consequences are being clarified.
A 47-year-old man was injured as a result of an explosive device detonation in Vesely.
A car with residents of Vovchansk during the evacuation came under fire from russia, the 70-year-old driver of the car and the 83-year-old female passenger died on the spot. The driver’s wife and a passenger were injured.
The russian military targeted the residential sector in Kharkiv, there are 6 wounded, of which three are children. Several private houses were destroyed. Among the injured is a family whose yard was hit by a guided aerial bomb.
As a result of russian shelling in Vovchansk on May 18, a 60-year-old woman died, four more people were injured in the town.
A 59-year-old civilian was injured as a result of russian strikes on the village of Ukrainskyi in the Vovchan community.
Kharkiv direction as of 5:00 p.m.: the russian army, supported by aviation, attacked in the areas of Liptsi and north-west of Zeleny. The number of clashes in the direction reached 10. Russian planes dropped three more guided aerial bombs near Zeleny.
The Kupyansk direction — the russians made seven assault attempts, in particular, in the Sinkivka area. The Defense Forces are carrying out a counterattack in another area.
Donetsk Oblast
Ten localities came under fire yesterday.
In Donetsk Oblast, three people were killed by russian federation shelling on 17 May in Chasiv Yar and Krasnohorivka. Five more residents were wounded yesterday.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion
Russian army shelled Kurakhivka with artillery this morning, and a man was killed.
On 18 May, russian troops shelled Vesele village in Pokrovsk raion with artillery, wounding a 43-year-old man.
In the Lyman direction, russian troops tried three times to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces units near Novosadove, Torske and Hryhorivka, but failed, while Ukrainian troops improved their tactical position.
Volnovakha and Volnovakha raion
On 17 May, the russian military dropped three KAB-100 bombs on Bahatyr, damaging the house of culture, private houses, service stations, and cars.
Luhansk Oblast
On 17 May, the russian army shelled Nevske in the Luhansk Oblast during the distribution of humanitarian aid to residents. This happened for the second time in a row. No one was killed or injured in the shelling.
SOUTHERN OBLASTS
Mykolayiv Oblast
On the night of 18 May, the Air Defence Forces in Mykolayiv Oblast destroyed one Shahed 131/136 drone. Also on 17 May, russian troops attacked the town of Ochakiv with artillery. No one was killed or injured.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
The russian army carried out 452 attacks on seven towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia Oblast yesterday, 17 May. A woman was injured today as a result of russian shelling of Stepnohirsk.
Odesa Oblast
In the morning, Odesa Oblast was attacked by a ballistic missile, probably an Iskander-M. An Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone was also destroyed over the region.
The russian military dropped explosives from a drone on two residents of Stanislav in Kherson Oblast. One man was killed and a woman was injured.
A performance event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people was held at the Odesa railway station. A railroad car was set up on the tracks, where actors reenacted the events that took place from May 18 to 20, 1944.
Kherson Oblast
Russian troops shelled 18 settlements in Kherson Oblast yesterday. An educational institution, agricultural enterprises, a shop, gas pipelines, two high-rise buildings, and 14 private houses were damaged. Five people were wounded.
Explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Skadovsk.
In the morning in Kherson, a russian shell damaged the roof of a private house and caused a fire.
The russian army fired from a tank at a village in Beryslav Raion, Kherson Oblast. A 67-year-old man was killed.
The russian military dropped explosives from a drone on two residents of Stanislav. One man was killed and a woman was injured.
CENTRAL OBLASTS
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
At night on May 18, military air defense destroyed a “Shahed” in Pavlohrad Raion, and during the day, a SuperCam was probably shot down in Novomoskovsk district.
Poltava Oblast
At night, russian UAVs damaged energy infrastructure in one of the Raions of Poltava Oblast. No one was killed or injured.
In Poltava Oblast, volunteers are making remote-controlled platforms for soldiers. They are needed to transport the wounded, deliver cargo, or, if necessary, to use them for demining. The cost of one platform is about 200 thousand hryvnias.
60 people from Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Kryvyi Rih arrived in Poltava on May 17. They are families of prisoners of war and missing persons during the russian-Ukrainian war. The families are participating in a program run by the International Committee of the “Red Cross”, which aims to provide psychological relief to the families.
WESTERN OBLASTS
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
A race in memory of prisoners of war and missing defenders of Ukraine took place in Khmelnytskyi today. The participants of the race covered a distance of one kilometer.
