Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

Kyiv is ready for winter. The experience of last winter was taken into account in the capital. In particular, 150 pumping stations are equipped with generators in case of water supply problems. 23 mobile boiler houses were purchased, which will be able to provide more than 100 objects of critical infrastructure (hospitals, maternity homes and educational institutions). More than 1,000 “Points of Invincibility” were also prepared.

Kyiv Oblast

In a pond near the village of Lytvynivka, Vyshgorod raion, pyrotechnic divers discovered and brought to the surface 11 units of 30 mm artillery shells. Local residents asked to examine the reservoir. 

In Makarov, a dispensary that was completely destroyed by russian troops was rebuilt. Currently, 9 family doctors, a therapist and 3 pediatricians work here. More than 19,000 residents of Kyiv Oblast will receive primary medical care at the outpatient clinic. 

The reconstruction of Lyceum No. 3 is being completed in Irpin. The institution suffered the greatest destruction among the educational institutions of the city during the invasion of the russian troops. The lyceum is preparing to accept almost one and a half thousand students from September 1.

Almost 60 million hryvnias were paid to agriculturists of the Kyiv Oblast for the development of horticulture, viticulture and greenhouses under the government program eRobota. During the year of the program, 100 agricultural producers of the oblast received financial support for the cultivation of fruits and vegetables.

The writer and philanthropist from the USA, Mitzi Perdue, came to the Kyiv Oblast to talk with canine experts and their canine partners. Police officers explained how dogs are trained and how their aptitude for a certain field is determined.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr Oblast, a resettled woman from Donetsk Oblast who cooperated with the russian military was taken into custody. The woman gave them information that russian intelligence used for missile attacks.

Wi-Fi routers will appear in the shelters of 163 social institutions in more than forty territorial communities of Zhytomyr Oblast. Among them are 86 educational institutions, 59 hospitals and dispensaries, as well as 18 geriatric and psychoneurological institutions.

After the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, volunteers evacuated several cats and dogs to the Zhytomyr “Animal Protection Center”. Most of them found new homes.

The 15-year-old artist presented an exhibition called “Destroyed Cities of Ukraine” at the Zhytomyr Literary Museum. The exhibition features 14 drawings in the style of graphics, which depict the destroyed cities of Ukraine, Crimea and the Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Matsievskyi.

Chernihiv Oblast

During August 8, the russians massively shelled the border of the Chernihiv Oblast with rockets from helicopters, barrel artillery and mortars from their territory. 40 explosions were recorded. The communities of Novgorod-Siversk, Horodnyansk, Semenivsk and Snovsk came under fire. There are no injured.

On the morning of August 9, the russians shelled the communities of Novgorod-Siversk and Snovska. So, explosions rang out near the villages of Horodyshche and Klyusy.

In Chernihiv Oblast, more than 1,000 children received the status of victims of war.

A residential building for more than nine thousand people, a school and two kindergartens with a swimming pool – a public discussion of the project “Detailed plan of the territory of the second residential district “Masany”” took place in Chernihiv. This urban planning document determines exactly what and in what quantity should be built on this or that plot.

Sumy Oblast 

During the day of August 8, the russian army shelled 7 communities of Sumy Oblast. 76 explosions were recorded.

During the night and morning of August 9, the russian army struck three communities in the Sumy Oblast. According to preliminary information, there were no victims or destruction of civil infrastructure.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

The number of shelling in the direction of Kupyansk has increased over the past month: the russians are shelling populated areas of the Kupyansk raion every day, and there are wounded and dead.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers are holding the defense and repelled enemy attacks in the Sinkivka district of the Kharkiv Oblast.

The regional administration plans to intensify the evacuation from the Kupyansk raion.

Donetsk Oblast

Over the past day, the number of russian victims in Donetsk Oblast has increased by 2 dead and 13 wounded.

Since February 24, 2022, the russians have killed 1,651 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, wounded another 3,975. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion

Two people were injured in Yampil and Mykolaivka in the Lyman community on August 8 from shelling by the russian army.

In Kramatorsk, the police found a metal door lying on the roadside in the grass. Law enforcement officers inspected the area and determined that they belonged to a mobile concrete shelter located nearby. Inspectors soon found 5 suspicious persons.

For young residents of Kramatorsk, law enforcement officers and rescuers conducted mine safety training in the format of a board game with obstacles.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion

On August 8, the russian military fired Tornado-S at Uspenivka of the Kurakhove community, artillery hit Pleshchiivka, and a FAB-250 guided aerial bomb was dropped on the village of Shcherbynivka, damaging houses, warehouses, and power lines. 

On the Donetsk side, shelling of Krasnohorivka and Katerynivka of the Maryinka community was recorded.

Yesterday, it was possible to establish information about 2 more dead and 11 wounded as a result of the attack on Pokrovsk on August 7.

In the Avdiyivka direction, under heavy enemy aircraft and artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks by russian troops in the Novokalynove, Avdiyivka, and Severne Oblasts of the Donetsk Oblast.

In the Maryinka direction, defense forces continue to hold back the advance of russian troops in the Maryinka and Novomykhailivka raions of the Donetsk Oblast.

More than 60 streets were renamed in the Selydove community. In particular, new names appeared in Selydovo, Tsukuryne and Ukrainsk.

 

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

In the Horlivka direction, 1 person was injured in Mykolaivka of the Kostyantynivka community. 5 houses and a warehouse were damaged in Pleschiivka of the Illinivka community.

Ukrainian soldiers are on the defensive in the Bakhmut direction, they repelled enemy attacks on the outskirts of Klishchiivka and in the Zaytsevo areas of Donetsk Oblast.

A resident of Bakhmut was sentenced for spreading information about the location of the Armed Forces in the city. The court found the woman guilty of the fact that she passed on information about the location of the Ukrainian military to an FSB agent of the russian federation. For this information, the woman from Bakhmut received a reward – about a thousand hryvnias.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha raion 

In the direction of Volnovakha, the russians shelled the Bogoyavlenka of the Vugledar community using Hrads — without casualties.

 

Mariupol

Occupied Mariupol and Grozny became sister cities. They are united by the fact that both were destroyed by the russians. Thus, during the blockade of Mariupol, the aggressors damaged 90% of the city’s infrastructure and destroyed 50% of the entire housing stock. According to preliminary data, more than 22 thousand civilians were killed. Grozny suffered a lot during the two Chechen wars (in 1994-1996 and 1999-2000). Hundreds of houses were also destroyed there and thousands of people were killed.

Defenders of Mariupol, released from russian captivity, received smart sets. They were handed over by the mayor of Mariupol at the YaMariupol center in Khmelnytskyi. Smart sets include a tablet, a smartphone, and wireless headphones. These are necessary things that are needed to communicate with relatives.

Luhansk Oblast

Residents of Luhansk Oblast in Cherkasy received mattresses, pillows, bed linen, blankets, and dishes. Immigrants from the Luhansk Oblast are cared for here by the Right to Protection Charitable Foundation.

Southern Oblasts

Mykolayiv Oblast

On the night of August 9, the troops of the russian federation shelled the Ochakiv community with artillery. And on August 8, they struck the Kutsurub community and the town of Ochakiv. Two teenagers were injured. 

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service have destroyed more than 18,000 units of ammunition in the Mykolayiv Oblast.

The collection of the Ochakiv Museum of Marine Painting is being digitized in Mykolayiv. These are more than 300 evacuated paintings, including paintings by Ukrainian artists Rufim Sudkovskyi, Ivan Aivazovskyi, as well as Tetyana Yablonska. 

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

A 63-year-old man was wounded as a result of shelling by the russian military in the town of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. He has now been taken to a medical facility.

The russian army attacked the Zaporizhzhia raion. People were not injured.

In Zaporizhzhia, the SSU reported the suspicion of an employee of Ukrposhta who went to cooperate with the russians. The woman also handed over the company’s material assets and resources, including premises, computer equipment and equipment, to the russian military.

Odesa Oblast 

An enemy missile carrier has again been deployed for combat duty in the Black Sea. The submarine of the «Varshavyanka» project can be equipped with 4 missiles of the «Calibre» type.

«Ukrzaliznytsia» appointed an additional train Odesa — Lviv. The reason is high demand.

The terrorist attack by the russians at the Kakhovska HPP interrupted the beginning of the beach season in Odesa. However, as of today, the quality of water in the Black Sea has stabilized and meets all sanitary standards. For the purpose of safety, the beaches are equipped with protective nets that make it impossible for mines to enter; observation and rescue posts; buoys; means of loud broadcasting; nearby shelters.

Kherson Oblast

Over the past day, the russian army attacked the Kherson Oblast 66 times, fired 365 shells from mortars, artillery, «Grads», tanks, drones and aviation. Two people were injured.

Russian troops shelled a kindergarten in Kherson with artillery. A 75-year-old man is injured, he is being treated.

An energy facility was damaged as a result of the shelling of Bilozerka community of Kherson Oblast. As a result, six settlements were left without electricity.

The defense forces hit the command post of the russian troops in the temporarily occupied Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson Oblast.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

An 18-year-old boy died as a result of shelling in Nikopol Raion of Dnipropetrovsk at night on August 9. Three other men were wounded. They have mine-blast traumas and shrapnel wounds. The attack damaged a church, 5 private houses, 2 outbuildings, a car, and power lines. 

11-year-old wounded Mykyta from Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, is being treated in a medical facility in Dnipropetrovsk. The boy was injured as a result of a missile attack by кussian troops on August 7. He was hospitalized in serious condition with fractures and burns. He is currently in intensive care and his condition has been stabilized.

In Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a building collapsed after being hit by a russian missile on July 31. No one was injured.

More than 84 thousand IDPs live in Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Of these, more than 22,500 are children, more than 16,000 are pensioners, and more than three thousand are people with disabilities.

On August 8, an accident occurred in Kirovohrad Oblast, killing a volunteer of a Dnipro charity foundation. He was transporting the bodies of defenders. Pavlo Belkov was one day short of his 33rd birthday.

Dmytro Chernyshov and Maksym Krasikov, coordinators of the Active Community in Dnipro, organized a fair of volunteer initiatives. Youth centers and public organizations of the region presented their activities there. Maksym Krasikov was awarded a letter of appreciation from the head of the Dnipro Regional State Administration. The fair was attended by Vladyslav Yatsuk, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, and representatives of city and regional authorities.

Kirovohrad Oblast

Among the 22 Ukrainian defenders who were met by the state, two are from Kirovohrad Oblast. They are Ruslan Kolesnik and Vitaliy Shkryabin.

In Kropyvnytskyi, a man who helped fugitives go abroad for money will be tried. The accused organized a scheme to smuggle people of military age across the state border. In exchange for money, he promised to provide documents that would allow them to leave under martial law. The man faces 7 to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

A shelter for 400 people is being repaired in Dolyna Lyceum with the support of UNICEF. The repairs are being carried out with the needs of people with disabilities in mind.

In the Oleksandrivka community of Kropyvnytskyi Raion, displaced artist Oleksandr Britsev created a new mural. He combined the images of a traveling whale and worker space bees. The idea is to show that Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes demonstrate to the world their education, hard work, and ability to learn.

Vinnytsia Oblast

They are plastering walls, laying tiles, and equipping the kitchen and assembly hall. Volunteers from the NGO Building Ukraine Together are renovating an inclusive resource center in the town of Bar, Vinnytsia Oblast. The center is attended by 403 children, including 240 with disabilities.  

A 3D graphics and animation course for displaced children from Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv Oblasts has started in Vinnytsia. The students will create an augmented reality mobile app for nature books by Vinnytsia writer Daria Palamarchuk. The classes are free and will last for 3 months.

Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

Three more evacuated animals from Kherson Oblast are currently staying at the Hope for Home animal adaptation center in Zdolbuniv, Rivne Oblast. They are looking for owners. In total, volunteers rescued and brought four dogs and seven kittens after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion. 

Lviv Oblast

In Lviv, two residents of Luhansk Oblast who joined the “people’s militia of the Luhansk people’s republic” and fought against the Ukrainian military at the beginning of the full-scale war were sentenced. They were sentenced to 15 and 13 years in prison. 

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

The region continues to receive and accommodate IDPs from Kherson Oblast. Over the past week, 37 people arrived in Khmelnytskyi Oblast by evacuation trains, 24 of them were accommodated in the region.

The Khmelnytskyi City Council has allocated UAH 6 million to repair and equip the simplest community shelters.

In Khmelnytskyi, the company’s automatic start-up siren and the control panel of the regional military administration’s emergency crisis center were serviced and restored to full operation.

A phototherapy course was launched in Khmelnytskyi for the first time. Over the course of eleven weeks, the students will learn about photography theory, attend creative meetings, psychological movie nights, field photo shoots, and museum tours. In addition, each participant will receive a certificate. Currently, local photographers and psychologists attend the courses. Upon completion, they plan to organize a joint exhibition of photographs.

Chernivtsi Oblast 

Chernivtsi is 69% ready for the heating season. Utilities have replaced 1200 meters of pipes, carried out preventive maintenance of boiler houses, and prepared stocks of alternative energy sources. In addition, additional modular boiler houses are being installed.

Another 14 entrepreneurs from Bukovyna will receive funding to start/scale their own businesses (microgrants) under the intergovernmental program ”eRobota”.

The combat buggy for the defenders was constructed at the service station of a private entrepreneur from Sokyriany, Ihor Serebryansky.

 “And the sunflower is blooming…”: An art event in memory of the Ukrainian defenders killed in Ilovaisk was held in an open-air museum in Chernivtsi. Visitors could donate to the rehabilitation of cultural figures who fought and were wounded. 

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

A monument was unveiled at the site of the death of the Hero of Ukraine, attack pilot Oleksandr Kukurba from the village of Verkhniy Verbizh, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The pilot fell near the village of Andronivka, Dnipro Oblast.
