Northern oblasts

Kyiv

The SBU detained in Kyiv the owner of an agricultural holding supplying food products to the enemy on the left bank of the Kherson Oblast. According to the investigation, the food company controlled by the suspect is located on the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson Oblast and works in the interests of russia.

The points of invincibility will work around the clock in Kyiv. This is due to recent missile attacks by the russian federation and a sharp cold snap down to -20 °C.

UAH 1 billion 167 million has been allocated for the reconstruction of housing in the Irpin community under the state eRecovery program. 392 applications have been approved for major repairs worth up to UAH 500,000, and 206 certificates have been allocated for the purchase of a new housing instead of a completely destroyed one.

This year, more than 100 shelters are planned to be built in educational institutions in the Kyiv Oblast.

Zhytomyr Oblast

A teacher of one of Zhytomyr’s city lyceums will be tried for supporting russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine – the woman publicly admired putin’s regime and denied russian crimes in Bucha.

In Zhytomyr, in order to save budget funds, it is planned to lay off employees of public utilities and city council members.

Chernihiv Oblast

Yesterday, russians shelled the Snovsk and Semenivka communities in the Chernihiv Oblast with mortars.

Educational institutions in Chernihiv received assistance worth over UAH 15 million from Latvia. This includes furniture for kindergartens and playgrounds. This happened thanks to the agreement between the Chernihiv City Council and the Ministry of Economy of Latvia for pre-school education institutions.

Sumy Oblast

During the day, on January 4, the russian army attacked five communities in the Sumy Oblast. 38 explosions were recorded.

At night, the russian army shelled five communities. 20 explosions were recorded.

Comprehensive counter-sabotage measures are underway in the Sumy Oblast. They are aimed at preventing and neutralizing threats of reconnaissance and subversive activities.

On January 5, the Points of Invincibility began operating around the clock in the Sumy Oblast.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

More than 15 settlements in the Kharkiv Oblast were shelled by russian forces on January 4.

At least four S-300 missiles launched by russian troops hit the territories near Lyptsi. Houses were destroyed, and roads, outbuildings, and cars were damaged.

Over the past day, the russian military fired cluster munitions at the population of the Kupiansk community and launched artillery attacks on Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk sector, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled four russian attacks near Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka.

According to intelligence, russia is planning to attack the energy and critical infrastructure of the Kharkiv Oblast. At the meeting of the Defense Council, they considered the readiness of the invincibility points and the coordination of the actions of all emergency services.

The first chimpanzees returned from the evacuation to the eco-park near Kharkiv – they had been living in the Kharkiv Zoo since spring 2022.

Donetsk Oblast

Over the past day, russians bombarded the Donetsk region24 times. Two people were killed in Katerynivka and Krasnohorivka, and two other residents were wounded.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

On January 4, the russian army hit Kurakhove with five S-300 missiles. They fired six more S-300 missiles at Myrnohrad. As a result of shelling, the mine in Myrnohrad was de-energized, in which there were 17 miners. The rescue operation is ongoing.

On January 4, the russian military shelled Krasnohorivka. Enemy shells hit a private house. A 73-year-old woman died.

Katerynivka was shelled by russian troops with artillery. A 68-year-old man was killed, another civilian was injured. Two private houses were destroyed.

Avdiivka continues to suffer from massive attacks. A 55-year-old woman was injured as a result of Grad attacks. Today, 1,169 residents remain in Avdiivka. On January 4, four more people left during the evacuation.

On the morning of January 5, russian troops fired at Ukrainians in the Donetsk Oblast. The school and multi-story residential buildings were damaged by shelling. There are no dead or injured civilians.

The Ukrainian military repelled 32 attacks by the russian occupying troops in the Avdiivka direction.

A resident of the Pokrovsk Raion was sentenced to 12 years in prison for passing on data to an FSB agent about the armed forces in the Avdiivka Raion and the placement of infrastructure and strategic objects in the Donetsk Oblast.

Luhansk Oblast

The occupiers owed 400 million rubles in salary to the miners of “Skhidvuhillia” (EsaternCoal) in the occupied Luhansk region.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

On January 4, in the Mykolaiv Oblast, in one of the populated areas of the Bashtanka Raion, a fire broke out as a result of a “Shahed 131/136” type drone hit, and houses and infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled eight enemy attacks in the Robotyne Raion and north-west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Odesa Oblast

In the Black Sea, the russian army keeps two frigates on combat duty with a total salvo of up to 16 Kalibr-type missiles. The withdrawal of the missile carriers may indicate the preparation of the next missile strike.

Kherson Oblast

As a result of russian shelling yesterday in the Kherson Oblast, one person died and seven were injured. The army of the russian federation fought on the territory of the oblast 125 times with various types of weapons. Critical infrastructure facilities and a warehouse of humanitarian aid were damaged.

At night, the russian army struck Vysoke in the Tiahynka community in the Kherson Oblast with three “Shahed” type drones. They hit the modular town and the administration building. Two people are injured. Five, in particular, a 14-year-old child, have a contusion and an acute reaction to stress.

Today, the russian army shelled the Dnipro District of Kherson. Three people were injured. They were diagnosed with mine-explosive injuries. After a russian projectile hit, a fire broke out in a warehouse where humanitarian aid was stored.

The army of the russian federation launched a missile attack on an agricultural enterprise in the village of Ingulets in the Kherson Oblast. One man was killed, another was wounded.

In Kherson, 364 subscribers were connected to the electricity supply during the day. In total, more than 13,000 metering points remain without power in the city due to hostilities.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Six drones destroyed air defense forces on the night of January 5. All of them are in the Kryvyi Rih Raion.

Debris fell on the territory of the non-working enterprise. russian troops also shelled the Nikopol Raion. Heavy artillery hit the raion center, the Marganets and Chervonohryhorivka communities three times. There are no dead or injured.

In Novomoskovsk of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, assistance is being provided to residents whose homes were damaged by a missile attack on December 29, 2023. Currently, public utilities are restoring the damaged roofs.

Kirovohrad Oblast

On the night of January 5, air defense forces shot down one drone in the Kirovohrad Oblast.

During the exchange of prisoners, five military personnel from the Kirovohrad Oblast returned to Ukraine.

The Svitlovodsk community, the Oleksandria Raion, handed over 12 Mavic 3T quadcopters and equipment for them to the military, as well as 10 attack boats for a total of UAH 1 million. In addition, for 2024, the Svitlovodsk City Council has planned UAH 10 million to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Central Ukrainian Higher Vocational School named after Mykola Fedorovskyi in Kropyvnytskyi manufactures “burzhuika” stoves for the military. Materials are received from locals in cooperation with the volunteer organization Krop:Hub. The stoves are produced by masters of industrial training together with students in lessons. Last year, they made about 500 stoves.

Cherkasy Oblast

In the Cherkasy Oblast, air defense forces destroyed 5 “Shahed” drones at night. There is damage to power lines as a result of falling fragments of unmanned aerial vehicles. There were no victims.

Memorial plaques will be installed in Cherkasy to the fallen defender Vitalii Sahaidak and political figure Viacheslav Chornovil. This decision was made by the Toponyms Commission on January 5, 2024.

Poltava Oblast

Since June 2022, the resident of the Poltava Oblast has cooperated with a russian analytical portal, where he published articles with anti-Ukrainian propaganda upon request. The man wrote more than 60 publications for the russian online media “Odna Rodina” and “Strategic Culture Foundation”. He is suspected of cooperation with the russian special services.

Vinnytsia Oblast

Vinnytsia medical facilities are installing solar panels to save electricity. They are doing this within the framework of the municipal program that was approved last year. In just one week, the Vinnytsia Mother and Child Center saved UAH 8,000 thanks to the solar power plant built on the roof of the obstetrics department.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

This morning, during an air alert, 3 “Shahed” drones were neutralized in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast by the air defense forces. The population was not injured, there was no damage to infrastructure facilities.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Kostiantyn Lytvynov, a university teacher evacuated to Kamianets-Podilskyi from the Luhansk Oblast, is among those returned from captivity as part of the exchange. He is an associate professor of the Department of Computer-Integrated Management Systems of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Electronics. He was captured in March 2022, when the fighting for the Luhansk Oblast began.

Chernivtsi Oblast

A hub was opened in Chernivtsi where military personnel can stay overnight free of charge while they undergo medical examinations or examinations at local hospitals. Fighters from other cities or regions can spend the night.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi awarded the Golden Cross to senior sergeant Ihor Kozun from the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.

In Burshtyn, the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, it is planned to build a Heroes’ Memorial. Commemorative plaques with brief references and images of community soldiers who died in the russian-Ukrainian war will be installed in it.

Zakarpattia Oblast

Almost 31,000 residents of locals and IDPs received psychosocial support from the Red Cross of the Zakarpattia Oblast during the past year. This year, the organization plans to expand the network of centers in the territorial communities of the oblast to include as many veterans, their family members, families of wounded, captured, missing and fallen defenders as possible.
