Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Yoko Kamikawa arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit. This is her first visit abroad this year. She held talks with government officials, including Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. In particular, during the press conference, Minister Kamikawa announced that Japan will contribute 37 million US dollars to the NATO trust fund for the UAV detection systems in Ukraine.

A rally “Don’t be silent! Captivity Kills!” was organized by relatives and friends of captured Ukrainian soldiers. In particular, the relatives of captured Azov fighters, who were taken prisoner during the defense of Mariupol, came to take part in the rally.

Kyiv Oblast

Installation of windows in apartment buildings has begun in the town of Vyshneve. 11 high-rise buildings were damaged there. The homes of more than 700 residents were affected. The Global Empowerment Mission international foundation will replace all damaged windows in the oblast. The first batch of 127 window structures, which are being installed today, was manufactured in a record-breaking short time – 4 days. There are more than 400 applications from the residents of one of the most affected buildings.

Chernihiv Oblast

On January 6, the russian army shelled three border communities in the Chernihiv Oblast. 

In the Chernihiv Oblast, border guards discovered a pontoon bridge that had floated from russia to Ukraine via the Desna River. It served as a russian military crossing. The sappers established that the discovered metal structure posed no threat.

Sumy Oblast

Over the past day, the russian army carried out 21 shelling attacks on the Sumy Oblast. 138 explosions were recorded. Five communities came under shelling.

The russian army attacked the Khotyn and Bilopillia communities in the Sumy Oblast on the night of January 7. 10 explosions were recorded. Two private houses were damaged as a result of the shelling of Seredyna-Buda.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

On January 6, the russian army shelled more than 15 towns, villages and settlements in four raions of the Kharkiv Oblast with mortars and artillery. In Vovchansk and Kupiansk, private houses were damaged or destroyed as a result of the shelling, and a kindergarten was also destroyed in the latter.

Eight settlements in the Kharkiv Oblast were exposed to airstrikes over the day.

In the Kupiansk sector, the russian army attacked three times during January 6 in the area of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Ivanivka.

For more than two hours, russia bombarded the outskirts of four villages in the Kharkiv Oblast. A private house and a shop were damaged. There is currently no information about the casualties.

Donetsk Oblast

The police in the Donetsk Oblast documented 18 war crimes over the day. The russian army shelled 10 localities. The enemy attacked civilians with guided aerial bombs, S-300 missiles, Uragan and Grad MLRS, and artillery. 51 civilian facilities were damaged.

Currently, three civilians have been reported dead, among them a child. Another 9 people are under the rubble, including 4 children. Another 9 people were wounded.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 2 attacks of the russian army in the Bakhmut sector, and 24 more in the Avdiivka sector.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

The russian occupiers hit Pokrovsk and the neighboring village of Rivne with eight S-300 missiles. Two families were trapped under the rubble.

Today in Pokrovsk, rescuers retrieved the body of a woman from under the rubble. As of this morning, 12 people were killed and 10 wounded as a result of yesterday’s missile attack.

The body of another child was recovered from under the rubble of a destroyed house in Rivne of the Myrnohrad community, which was hit by a russian army missile on January 6. A grandmother and her grandson, whose father fought at the front, lived in the building, which was directly hit. Her another son came to visit them with his wife and two children. At the time of the attack, six people were gathered around a festive table.

Last night a resident of the village of Zhelanne was wounded as a result of hostile fire.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

The russian invaders dropped two KAB-500 guided bombs on Pivnichne, killing one person and wounding another. Five apartment buildings were damaged.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

During January 6, russian troops struck two communities in the Mykolaiv Oblast. As a result of the hit, a fire broke out in the recreation area. There are no casualties or injuries.

In addition, on the night of January 7, air defense forces destroyed five attack drones over the Mykolaiv Oblast.

Mykolaiv pyrotechnics help demining the territories of the Kherson Oblast. Tasks are performed using the MV-10 special vehicle.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Yesterday, the enemy made 169 strikes on 22 settlements. Six reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings. Civilians were not injured.

A russian drone was destroyed this night in the Zaporizhzhia Raion as a result of combat operations.

Odessa Oblast

Yesterday, the russian aviation launched four cruise missiles in the direction of Odesa. They lost combat capability in the air.

This night, air defense forces shot down two russian attack drones over the Odesa Oblast.

Schools and kindergartens in Odesa are preparing to switch to remote learning in case of bad weather, which is forecast for January 7-9.

Kherson Oblast

The russian military shelled the Kherson Oblast 89 times during the day. Residential blocks, critical infrastructure facilities and factories were targeted. Five people were injured.

Over the course of a day, the russian army dropped six guided aerial bombs on Zmiivka of the Kherson Oblast. There were no casualties or injuries as a result of the attack.

Today, the russian army shelled the central part of Kherson. A 62-year-old man died of his injuries. It is known about two wounded. Civil infrastructure objects were damaged.

In the afternoon, the russian army attacked Kherson again, targeting a residential building. A woman died, another one was injured.

The enemy fired at the church in the village of Sadove in the Kherson Oblast. A man is wounded . He was diagnosed with an explosive injury and a shrapnel wound.

An exhibition was set up in the regional children’s hospital in Kherson. It collected fragments of russian shells, photographs, stories of wounded children and employees.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Yesterday evening, russian troops attacked a residential building in Dnipro with drones. Six people were saved.

In the evening of the previous day, the russian army shelled Nikopol: one person was killed, two others were wounded.

On the evening of January 6, seven russian drones were destroyed by air defense forces in the Dnipro and Nikopol raions. As a result of the drone attack, an educational institution and its dormitory, 2 high-rise buildings and an administrative building were damaged. 4 cars burned, and 12 more were damaged.

On the night of January 7, the russian army fired half a dozen shells from the artillery at the Chervonohryhorivka community, the Nikopol Raion. An enemy drone was also sent to the area. It was destroyed by the Ukrainian military. There were no dead or injured. The consequences of the attacks are being investigated.

Two russian drones were also shot down over the Kryvyi Rih Raion on the night of January 7. In the sky over the Dnipro Raion, the air defense forces destroyed the russian Kh-59 air missile.

Kirovohrad Oblast

In the Kropyvnytskyi Raion, fragments of an enemy drone damaged a private house and a power line. Previously, there were no casualties.

Taking into account the predicted worsening of weather conditions and a drop in temperature, rescuers of the State Emergency Service in the Kirovohrad Oblast installed mobile heating points, in particular, in the cities of Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandria and at the exits from the oblast center in the direction of Znamianka and Uman.

Cherkasy Oblast

In the Cherkasy Oblast, one attack drone was destroyed in the sky over the Zvenyhorod Raion at night. There were no casualties or damage.

Vinnytsia Oblast

A kamikaze drone was shot down in Vinnytsia on the night of January 7. Consequences are established. 

Western Oblasts

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

As a result of worsening weather conditions, 26 settlements were cut off (17 of them partially). 4131 consumers are without electricity.

Chernivtsi Oblast

National Guard soldier Andrii Mesiuk was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” of the III degree. In March 2023, the soldier died near Kreminna in the Luhansk Oblast.

Chief Sergeant Oleksandr Chebanik of the National Guard was awarded the medal “For Military Service to Ukraine” by the President of Ukraine. He took part in combat operations near Kyiv, in the Chernihiv Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, a peaceful action “Don’t be silent. Captivity kills!” was held. in support of prisoners of war, and in particular, defenders of “Azovstal”.

73-year-old Hanna Mykytiuk from the village of Piadyky, the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, purchased a drone for the military of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade “Edelweiss”.

Zakarpattia Oblast

In Uzhhorod, a meeting of employees of the Chop city council, entrepreneurs, heads of public organizations and IDPs took place. They were told about changes to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On the border regime”, according to which a special border regime and restrictions were established.
