Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

During the dismantling of destroyed building structures in a warehouse in the Shevchenkivsky district of Kyiv, signs of another dead person were discovered. As of today, russian missiles killed 33 people in Kyiv on December 29.

The Kyiv military administration calls on the citizens of Kyiv to return to the mask regime and get vaccinated: in the first week of this year, more than 10,000 new cases of influenza and SARS, in particular, of COVID-19, were registered in the capital. In general, 1.9 million people in Ukraine fell ill with SARS, flu and COVID-19 over the past 3 months.

Kyiv Oblast

A delegation from Germany visited Irpin. Deputies of the German Bundestag from various parliamentary factions, referents on international issues, security and defense policy visited the destroyed Romanivsky bridge and the cemetery of shot cars, and examined photo evidence of russian war crimes. They also honored the memory of innocent people killed near the installation of the 501st dead Bucha residents.

Capital repairs of a 70-apartment residential building in Bucha are underway at the expense of the Fund for the Liquidation of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. The building was significantly damaged as a result of russian armed aggression. Restoration work began in the fall of 2023.

In 2023, 1.8 thousand migrants will be employed in Kyiv Oblast. More than 130 people learned new professions, more than 700 people were involved in socially useful works of the “Recovery Army” project for the production of camouflage nets, repair of military clothing, etc. Almost 70 migrants received a micro-grant for the creation or development of their own business.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In the communities of Zhytomyr Oblast, in case of worsening weather conditions, 704 “Points of Invincibility” were opened, which work around the clock.

Chernihiv Oblast

The military of the russian federation fired mortars and tube artillery at three communities in the bordering Chernihiv Oblast.

As of January 9, more than four thousand subscribers in 19 settlements of the Oblast are without electricity due to low temperatures.

On January 9, the 119th Territorial Defense Brigade presented a ribbon “For Participation in the Defense of Ukraine” to the Battle Flag of the unit. The award was handed over personally by the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Sumy Oblast

During the past 24 hours, the russian army carried out 18 shellings of Sumy Oblast. 61 explosions were recorded. 8 communities were shelled.

4 communities of Sumy Oblast were under russian fire on the night of January 9. 24 explosions were recorded. 4 communities were shelled.

In Sumy Oblast, on January 8, territorial defense together with border guards destroyed two russian small-arms kamikaze drones.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

More than 15 settlements in the Oblast were attacked by russian artillery and mortars. Velikyi Burluk was shelled three times a day, and warehouses, a cultural center, and an elevator were damaged there. Vovchansk was under attack around 21:00, a house and farm buildings were damaged by shelling.

A 57-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were injured during the shelling of Dvorichna on January 8, and were hospitalized in a moderate condition. A house was damaged in the village.

In the Kupyansk direction, the Ukrainian military repelled five russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv Oblast.

Donetsk Oblast

Six settlements in Donetsk Oblast were shelled during the day. The occupying forces inflicted 10 strikes – rocket, artillery and tank. Previously, there were no casualties.

On January 8, the Ukrainian military repelled 34 attacks by russian troops in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. Most of the battles took place in the Avdiyivka and Maryinka directions.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

Yesterday, during the shelling, russian troops targeted a private house in Siversk. The information is being clarified.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

Search and rescue operations at the sites of the January 6 shelling have been completed in Pokrovsk Raion. The victims were searched for with the help of dogs trained to find human remains. About a hundred body fragments were found. Police are currently examining them. So far, 5 victims have been identified. Three victims from the village of Rivne have been identified – a three-year-old girl, her father, and mother. In Pokrovsk, a 34-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman have been identified. Preliminary, 11 people and their families were killed in the russian strike.

On January 8, russian occupation forces fired three missiles at Pokrovsk. There was damage to an industrial facility. No civilians were killed or injured.

It was noisy in the towns of Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Siversk, the village of Horoste and the village of Berdychi. A private house, an administrative building, and a workshop were damaged. 

Mariupol 

Residents of Mariupol complain about so-called “repairs” by russians. Emergency buildings are being “restored” for show. They make a beautiful facade, but behind it are ruins. Citizens complain to the local pseudo-administration, but receive no response.

In Mariupol, passers-by are handed out campaign ads with the image of dictator putin. Citizens throw them in the trash.

Luhansk Oblast

The enemy became more active around Nevske village. As a result, two explosions occurred on the outskirts of the liberated settlement. Russians also attacked Bilohorivka. They used aircraft to hit Serebryanskyi forest.

A russian aerial projectile landed in occupied Rubizhne yesterday. The invaders hit a residential area of the city with an FAB-250 bomb. There are injured and dead. The bomb has not yet been defused. The occupiers’ pyrotechnics refused to work in the 17-degree cold. People are being evicted from the surrounding neighborhoods, but not allowed to leave Rubizhne. Entry and exit from the city are closed.

There is no centralized heating in Lysychansk. There is no water in the taps even in the city center. Residents are waiting for water to be delivered when the temperature is down to -10 degrees.

Southern Oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

During the day on January 8 and at night on January 9, russian troops shelled the coastline of Ochakiv and the village of Kutsurub community. There were no casualties.

In Mykolaiv Oblast, there is no electricity again due to bad weather, with kilometers of power lines covered in ice. As of 14:00, 5.2 thousand families have been restored to electricity. Currently, 143 settlements are without power and 31 more are partially without it. 

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Russian troops shelled 13 settlements, 54 attacks were recorded. There were 77 reports of destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.

According to updated data, yesterday, January 8, 19 apartment buildings, 14 private sector buildings, and two educational institutions were damaged as a result of russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia.

Six attacks by the russian army near Chervone, Verbove, and Novoprokopivka were repelled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

Kherson Oblast

Russian troops shelled Kherson with artillery twice during the day, shelling Zmiyivka and Antonivka. In Kherson’s Shumenskyi district, 13 garages and communications were damaged. A communication cable was damaged on the territory of a garage cooperative. Russian troops also shelled an administrative building in the coastal zone of the Central District and the premises of an educational institution.

Today the russian army struck again in Kherson. The building of a medical institution was damaged. No one was killed or injured.

In Kherson Oblast, 14 settlements are without electricity supply due to squally winds and icy power lines.

In Antonivka, generators used to supply water failed due to bad weather. Emergency crews of the water utility are working to fix the problem.

Central regions

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On the night of January 9, 5 high-rise buildings and two cars were damaged due to the shelling of Marganets in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. There are no casualties or injuries.

The number of injured due to a massive rocket attack on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on January 8 has increased to 33, including five children. One person died.

Cherkasy Oblast

In Smila, as of January 9, all eight buildings that cannot be restored after the russian missile attack on December 29, 2023 were dismantled. Most of the 40 or so destroyed roofs were covered by the work crews before the onset of bad weather.

At one of the Cherkasy maintenance stations, co-owners of the station, brothers Artur and Yaroslav Shpaky, repair five military vehicles each week. They specialize in straightening and painting cars. They do everything for free.

Poltava Oblast

In the village of Sary of the Hadyach community, the houses that were damaged in December 2023 by the wreckage of an unmanned aerial vehicle of the russian army were repaired. In particular, the windows were glazed. The house, which is the most damaged, is being examined by experts. They have to find out if the farm is recoverable.

Western Oblasts

Lviv Oblast

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is terminating all contracts concluded by companies associated with Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynkevich. One of the largest suppliers of the Ministry of Defense is suspected of schemes involving the purchase of clothing and underwear for the Armed Forces, which caused losses to the state of more than a billion hryvnias.

Maksym Zarechyny is a 12-year-old immigrant from Kherson Oblast. The boy and his family live in a village in the Lviv Oblast, do vocals and raise money for the army. During the Christmas and New Year holidays, Maxim collected money for a drone for the Armed Forces.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

In the Khmelnytskyi Oblast, the number of dead has increased due to yesterday’s russian attack. In total, as a result of the shelling, three people were killed and two more were injured.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

From January 7 to 10, a delegation from Kamianets-Podilskyi, headed by the mayor, along with members of the city council, is on a business trip to the city of Esslingen an der Neckar (Germany). During the trip, it is expected to work out a road map for cooperation in the fields of medicine, psychological rehabilitation of children and assistance to community rescuers, as well as find out about deepening cooperation between public organizations, investments of German business in the economy of Kamianets-Podilskyi.

The Kamianets-Podilskyi community handed over thermal imagers and charging stations worth almost half a million hryvnias to the volunteer battalion “Karpatska Sich”, in which the people of Kamianets serve.

Ternopil Oblast

During the year, residents of Luhansk Oblast received more than five thousand food packages at the hub in Ternopil. Also, during the year, they had the opportunity to receive medical, legal, pension and career counseling.

Zakarpattia Oblast

30 school buses, including four for children with disabilities, were purchased for almost 90 million hryvnias by Zakarpattia Oblast Government together with territorial communities. On January 9, six buses were handed over to communities.
