Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

Units of the grouping of forces and means of defense of Kyiv continue to improve the engineering equipment of the defense lines of the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv Oblast. The installation of long-term fortifications at the strongholds of the units of the forces and means of defense of Kyiv is underway. Engineering works are carried out in cooperation with the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration. The installation and arrangement of fire structures on the likely paths of the enemy’s advance continues. In addition, the process of equipping shelters for personnel protection is ongoing.

Yesterday, on the Day of the National Assembly of Ukraine, a meeting of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and former Prime Minister of Great Britain, member of the British Parliament Boris Johnson with students and teachers of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University took place.

Kyivvodokanal received powerful generators from UNICEF. It is noted that the generators will provide Kyivvodokanal facilities with autonomous power sources. The resulting generators have already been distributed to water pumping stations in large residential areas of the capital. The equipment will help ensure the operation of water supply facilities in the event of a possible blackout and power outages.

 

Kyiv Oblast

During January, rescuers made 17 trips to calls related to the detection of explosive objects in the Bucha raion.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Zhytomyr says goodbye to Andriy Rohalskyi. With the beginning of the full-scale aggression of russia, he volunteered to defend Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces. He gave his life on January 12, 2023 in Donetsk Oblast.

Another collaborator was convicted in Zhytomyr: in the courtyard of the house, he urged not to resist the russian troops and assured that «Putin’s policy» should be implemented. The man had to answer in court for his collaborative activities. The court found the citizen guilty of a criminal misdemeanor and sentenced him to 14 years and 6 months of disqualification from holding positions related to the performance of state and local self-government functions.

About 200 athletes organized a patriotic flash mob for the Unity Day at the central stadium «Polissia» in Zhytomyr. The children, together with the coaches, unfurled the 25-meter flag of Ukraine, and also united with the help of a blue-yellow ribbon of unity.

Chernihiv Oblast

Today, the russians shelled the border areas of Chernihiv Oblast, namely, the Novgorod-Siversk community. The military recorded 19 hits, probably from self-propelled guns, in the area of ​​Mykhalchyna Sloboda village and 12 hits, probably from a 120 mm mortar, in the area of ​​Buchky village.

Soldier Oleksandr Belyakov, who died in Donetsk Oblast, was buried in Chernihiv Oblast.

Today, near Shestovytsa, ammunition was destroyed by detonation.

Chernihiv Oblast received 11 generators and 10 electric heaters for the Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine of the Oblast. The generators were handed over to units in: Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Pryluky, Semenivka, Novgorod-Siversky, Ripky, Kozelets, Snovsk, Ichnia, Mykhailo-Kotsyubynske, and Berezna.

Sumy Oblast

On January 22, the russian military shelled two communities in Sumy Oblast. The fire was carried out in the Nova Sloboda and Shalygyne communities.

Today, around 2 p.m., the russians shelled residential buildings and the railway in Vorozhba, Sumy Oblast. Shots were fired from barrel artillery – 10 shells actually exploded in the center of the city. A direct hit to an apartment building was recorded. One of the apartments was completely destroyed by a russian shell. Three more residences have extensive damage. 

Yesterday in Sumy they said goodbye to Oleksandr Vasylenko, the commander of the helicopter that crashed in Brovary on January 18. It was sung in the Resurrection Cathedral.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Last day, the enemy continued shelling the peaceful settlements of Kupyansk, Kharkiv, Bogodukhiv and Chuguiv raions.

In Kupyansk, an enemy projectile hit the yard of a residential building, and in Vovchansk, a private house was also hit. A 49-year-old man was injured.

A 67-year-old woman was killed by enemy artillery fire in the village of Petrivka, Zolochiv community.

Also, around 10:00 p.m., the enemy launched a missile strike, previously from the S-300 air defense system, on the village of Pisochyn, Kharkiv raion. The farm building was destroyed. No casualties.

Donetsk Oblast

On January 22, the russians injured 4 residents of Donetsk Oblast: three in Bakhmut and one person in Avdiivka.

On January 23, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down two russian planes, one helicopter and other aerial targets. In total, as of 5 p.m., 6 targets of the occupiers were hit.

Since February 24, the russians have killed 1,316 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, another 2,876 people have been injured. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is still unknown.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion

On the Donetsk side, the enemy was actively hitting Avdiivka: late in the evening, there were shellings from artillery and “Hrads” with the use of cluster shells, at night there was massive artillery shelling, and in the morning – shelling from “Hrads”. The consequences are being investigated.

In the Vodyan region, the enemy had partial success in the south, which cost him losses in equipment and personnel. A difficult situation persists in Krasnohorivka, where certain landings change hands.

The Pokrovsk city military administration, together with representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), concluded a memorandum of cooperation under which a local hospital and a residential building in the city of Fastiv, in the Kyiv Oblast, will be equipped for the needs of displaced persons from the Pokrovsk community.

Cosmetic repairs have already been made in the building of the Fastov medical facility. Up to 200 people can be accommodated here.

In Pokrovsk, on the basis of the territorial center, a salt room was opened, repairs were made, new furniture, sports equipment, simulators were brought in. It was possible to expand social services and conduct halotherapy for the residents of the community as part of the GIZ international project. The salt room, which has been open for a week, is built at the highest technological level with audio and light therapy. In addition, it is equipped with a halogen generator that acts like a salt spray.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

On the Horlivka direction, 3 people were injured in Bakhmut; 3 private houses were damaged in the city. A tense situation in the Soledar community: Paraskoviivka, Rozdolivka, Fedorivka, Vasyukivka and the outskirts of Soledar came under fire. Chasiv Yar came under fire – 3 houses were damaged, no one was injured.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha raion

In the Volnovakha direction, Vuhledar and the outskirts of Novoukrainka and Bogoyavlenka came under fire — without casualties.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion

In the Lysychansk direction, there was a lot of noise in Siversk and in Torsk and Zarichny of the Lymansk community – no information about the victims was received.

Today, the occupiers launched a rocket attack on Kramatorsk. The authorities are currently determining the consequences.

Luhansk Oblast

The forests around Kreminnaya are densely mined by the occupiers, but despite this, the Armed Forces are moving forward every day.

As of the end of last year, the average consumer prices for food products in the communities of the Luhansk Oblast under occupation were significantly higher than in the territory under the control of the Government of Ukraine. Some products cost more than twice the price. These are, in particular, potatoes and beets.

Southern Oblasts

Odesa Oblast

There are 11 russian ships in the Black Sea. Among them are three Kalibr cruise missile carriers.

During the attempt of the enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group to land on one of the so-called Potemkin Islands on the Dnieper, the Defense Forces hit a light civilian boat that the occupiers appropriated and equipped for military purposes.

Monuments to Suvorov, Gastello and Kotovsky were dismantled in Odesa.

Mykolayiv Oblast

As of 08:00 on the morning of January 23, no enemy shelling was recorded on the territory of the Mykolayiv Oblast.

Kherson Oblast

During the day of January 22, russian troops shelled the territory of the Kherson Oblast 25 times with artillery, anti-aircraft guns, mortars and tanks. In Kherson, a shipbuilding plant and residential buildings were targeted. Three people were injured.

Today, the russian army shelled Antonivka, at least six explosions rang out. A projectile hit a building in the yard, and a person died.

The russian army shelled the temporarily occupied Oleshki. As a result of shelling, the school and houses were damaged.

The troops of the russian struck the population centers of Beryslav raion. Houses and farm buildings were damaged there. As a result of detonation on russian mines, two people were injured.

The russian military ransacked the Skadovsk Central District Hospital and took away all the equipment in trucks. A civilian medical facility is being converted into a military hospital.

In the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson Oblast, the russian occupiers are trying to create a database of the places of residence of local residents. They threaten to cut off the electricity. In this way, locals are forced to sign the “act on confirmation of the citizen’s actual place of residence”.

According to the information of the General Staff, from January 18 to 21, reinforcements of russian occupiers arrived in Vynohradovo and Brylivka of the Kherson Oblast. The personnel is armed only with small arms, units in body armor. Military equipment was not imported.

The court handed down the first sentence for organizing a pseudo-referendum in the south of Ukraine. A collaborator from Novooleksandrivka, Beryslav raion, was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Yesterday, 110 people were evacuated from Kherson Oblast In particular, 36 people were taken by motor vehicle to Odesa, 27 people from Kherson by train to Khmelnytskyi, and 20 residents of Berislav were evacuated to Kyiv.

Central Oblasts 

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

An employee of the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plant, Serhii Stepanov, was killed in the battle for freedom and independence of Ukraine. It happened in Zaporizhzhia’s direction on January 16. The defender is survived by his daughter and wife.

A soldier from Kamianske, Vladyslav Duplii, died in a military hospital from wounds received in a battle near the village of Bohdanivka, Donetsk oblast. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a brother. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero.

18 injured people remain in Dnipro hospitals as a result of a russian missile attack on a high-rise building on January 14, including one child. The total number of injured is over 80 people, including 16 children. An instrumental examination is being conducted in the apartment building itself. This is necessary to understand the condition of the building for further work. At the same time, double-glazed windows are being installed in the neighboring entrances.

A book about the Petrykivka oblast was presented in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The book contains 600 dates and events from the history of Petrykivka. The publication is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the village. Its author, journalist, and local historian Mykola Chaban, has been collecting chronicles for years. The information is from rare sources and from the mouths of the locals.  

Kirovohrad Oblast

Soldiers of the 39th Battalion asked the Znamiansk City Council’s executive committee to help them get Starlink systems. Employees of the executive committee, deputies of the Znamiansk City Council, and heads of municipal enterprises of the city council joined forces and raised more than 38 thousand hryvnias. They also raised UAH 4,800 during the city’s Christmas Arrangement contest. And during the charity performance “The Mouse King and the Stolen Gifts” – more than UAH 4,200. As a result, 2 Starlink satellite Internet stations were bought.

Poltava Oblast

A presentation of the documentary film “Shchedryk Against the russian world” was held in Poltava. The creators of the film, Tina Peresunko, Natalka Ponomariv, and Viacheslav Ponomariov, came to the city. The film tells the story of the world tour of the UPR Choir and conductor Oleksandr Koshytsia in 1919-1924. The events of that period resonate with the present. It deals with counteracting russian cultural expansion and propaganda, the issues of Ukraine’s cultural diplomacy, the place of Ukrainian cultural products in the world, and its struggle for itself.

On the Day of Unity in Kremenchuk, the community of the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov decided to move from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. 

Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

The SBU announced the exposure of a channel for trafficking men from Rivne oblast to EU countries. According to the investigation, a person was registered as a volunteer driver, which cost up to four thousand dollars.

In order not to lose historical moments, the museum in Rivne oblast began collecting photos and videos of the struggle of residents of several communities against the russian aggressor. They announced the collection of materials about how fellow countrymen are fighting, volunteering, donating to the Armed Forces, or hosting IDPs. Everything collected will first be saved to a Google disk, and then an archive site will be created, accessible to all.

Chernivtsi Oblast

A worker of Chernivtsioblenergo was injured in Kherson oblast when he was repairing the power grids, and his foot was blown off. The man is 26 years old, underwent surgery in Kryvyi Rih, and is under medical supervision.

A hostel for IDPs with 40 beds has been set up in Khotyn. People will be able to live there temporarily until they find a place to live. The accommodation is free of charge, but with utility bills. They will begin to host those who wish to live there when the regulations on accommodation are approved. 

Zakarpattia Oblast

On January 21, in the village of Ardanovo, Berehovo кфшщт, the funeral of Ivan Feier, who died in the war, was held. The resident of Ardanovo defended Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale russian invasion. On December 18, the soldier was wounded near Bakhmut and died on January 18, 2023. 

The Mukachevo City Council will pay two wounded servicemen of the Mukachevo community 50 thousand hryvnias of financial assistance. Two families of the fallen soldiers will receive 100 thousand hryvnias each.

Zakarpattia filmmaker Dmytro Hreshko presented a teaser for the Divia project. According to him, this is a documentary about the impact of russian aggression on the nature of Ukraine. The teaser was filmed in Kyiv, Donetsk, and Kharkiv oblasts.
