Northern oblasts

Kyiv

In the National Palace of Arts “Ukraine” restoration work has begun, rescuers of Kyiv municipal emergency and rescue service are dismantling the damaged windows. It will be recalled that on December 31, a blast wave blew out hundreds of windows in the institution, and an employee suffered minor injuries. A charity account was opened for the restoration of the Palace.

Kyiv received three passenger buses from the Finnish city of Tampere. They also delivered humanitarian aid, which was collected for the people of Kyiv by the authorities of Tampere together with the citizens of Finland. Currently, buses run on all trolleybus and tram routes of the capital of Ukraine.

Christmas trees recycling points have started operating in Kyiv. They will work until January 31 inclusive. In total, there are 17 such points in the city.

The Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra were returned to the state from the use of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. The Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko said that Metropolitan Pavlo of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate did not come to the last meeting of the commission to sign the relevant act, but this will not prevent the return of state property.

Kyiv Oblast

Law enforcement officers identified the Russian soldiers who shot at 10 civilian cars on the Zhytomyr highway in the Kyiv Oblast in March, as a result of which 13 people died and 6 were injured. Currently, most of the personnel of the 5th detached tank brigade of the 36th combined arms army of the eastern military district of the russian federation armed forces are known. Residents of the Vyshhorod Raion have been warned that the sounds of explosions may be heard in some communities, which means that training of deminers is in progress. The purpose is to practice the skills of removing and eliminating explosive devices.

In the Kyiv Oblast, 5,630 buildings and structures have already been fully restored, and another 3,473 have been partially restored. The video shows how the renovated educational institutions and residential houses look like. These are Lyceum No. 1 in Hostomel, the “New York Towers” residential complex, and the “Bdzhilka” (Bee) kindergarten in Irpin, and the Borodianka Agrarian Lyceum. At these locations, the facade and roofs were restored, new windows were installed, and heating systems were repaired.

Registration of the Irpin community residents for receiving financial assistance from the Right to Protection Charitable Foundation has been extended until January 13. The following persons are eligible to receive assistance: IDPs who arrived here within the last 30 days; persons who moved more than 30 days ago, have an income of less than 5400 UAH per person per month; affected households that lost their livelihood as a result of hostilities.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Hero Anatoliy Havryliuk returned home on the shield. He was killed in the Kharkiv Oblast while performing a combat mission. Eternal Glory to the Hero.

Nine thousand trench candles since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion have been transferred to the military by women volunteers from the village of Novoguyvynske in the Zhytomyr Oblast. The women also make camouflage nets and fire starters, cook food and deliver all this to the frontline fighters.

Chernihiv Oblast

On January 4, the russians shelled the border area of the Novhorod-Siversk community. The village of Kamianska Sloboda came under fire. Observers counted three hits. There were no losses among personnel and equipment. No information is available about the casualties among the local population or damage done to civil infrastructure. The village of Mikhalchyna Sloboda was also shelled. There have been no reports of damage or casualties.

A list of repair works and environmental protection measures was approved in Chernihiv. It was determined by the Executive Committee of the Chernihiv City Council. Current, major repairs, reconstruction, construction of housing and public utilities, and other infrastructure facilities, as well as implementation of environmental protection measures will cost 934 million 193 thousand hryvnias. These funds have not yet been allocated.

The Chernihiv Oblast received 75 50-liter boilers for educational institutions of the oblast. This is the first batch of aid from the International Organization for Migration Mission in Ukraine. More than 200 more are expected to come.

30 “Kobzars” by Taras Shevchenko were delivered to the Chernihiv military. They were sent for the defenders by the Kyiv publishing house “Dukh i Litera” (“Spirit and Letter”). The publishing house specially made books for military personnel, and therefore the publication has a special design, is very convenient and does not differ from the pixel uniform.

Sumy Oblast

During December 4, the russian military struck 55 attacks on the border communities of Sumy region. They shelled the Krasnopillia, Shalyhyne, Bilopillia, Znob-Novhorodske, and Seredyna-Buda communities. Information about damages and casualties is being clarified.

Andriy Dmitriev, a well-known athlete from Sumy, powerlifter and strongman, was killed in action near Bakhmut.

Eastern oblast

Kharkiv Oblast

In the evening of January 4, the occupants carried out about 10 artillery strikes on the outskirts of Zolochiv. Three houses and power lines were damaged as a result of the shelling.

The russian military tried to conduct offensive actions in the Kupiansk sector, but were unsuccessful, the General Staff reported on January 5. During the day, the occupiers shelled at least 14 settlements of the Kharkiv Oblast.

Oleksiy Shytyk, a gunner of an air mobile battalion from Kharkiv, was killed in the Donetsk Oblast. Eternal glory to the Hero.

The body of a 6-year-old boy was exhumed in Izium: he was killed on March 22 in his yard during the shelling. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, as of January 5, 268 cases of children killed or wounded as a result of the armed aggression by the russian federation have been reported in the Kharkiv Oblast.

In the building damaged by russian aerial bombs on Novobavarskyi Prospect in Kharkiv, construction workers restored walls, replaced windows and installed the heat supply system. Restoration works are still ongoing, but residents can already start repairs in their apartments.

Donetsk Oblast

Today, the Donetsk Oblast received 70 generators from the Mkrtchan Foundation. The devices with a capacity of 8 to 33 kW will be distributed among the communities of the oblast depending on the urgent needs. This is not the first such assistance provided by the Foundation: last year it donated 120 generators and 1980 stoves to the oblast.

On January 4, the russians killed 2 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast — in Bakhmut.

3 more people in the oblast were wounded.

As of today, since February 24, the russians have taken the lives of 1,289 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 2,813 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the Donetsk direction, Kurakhove was the most affected. The city was hit several times. Six private houses, two shops and equipment at an infrastructure facility were damaged. Marinka was subjected to intense shelling, and in the morning isolated airstrikes were recorded in the old part of Avdiivka. There were without casualties.

The mine “Ukraine” in the town of Selydovo in the Pokrovsk Raion was flooded.

The management of the “Ukraine ” mine explained it by the fact that the power grid was damaged due to shelling: the city of Ukrainsk and two mines of the SE “Selydivvuhillia” were cut off. The mines “Ukraine” and “Kotliarevska” stopped coal mining and mining operations. After long shutdowns, an accident elimination plan was put into effect with emergency and rescue operations to bring workers from the mines to the surface.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

Two people died in the Horlivka direction and one person was injured in Bakhmut. In Chasiv Yar, a high-rise building was destroyed, four more houses and a hospital building were damaged. In Soledar, a 5-story building was damaged. No one was injured.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

In the Lysychansk direction, the russians fired S-300 missiles at Lyman, and on the territory of the community they shelled Torske and Zarichne, damaging a house. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Residents of Kramatorsk, whose houses were damaged by shelling, continue to receive construction materials to restore their property.

Blue fuel is gradually returning to the city. Soon some of the houses will be connected to the gas supply.

The coordinators of “Active Community” continue to organize art therapy classes for young residents of Kramators. With the help of artists, they make products on a New Year’s theme, in particular, Christmas trees made of foamiran.

Mariupol

Mariupol residents hang signs against the demolition of buildings. Residents are left without apartments, and new housing is not provided. The occupiers continue to demolish whole blocks of the city. The Livoberezhny district and Cheremushki have almost been erased from the city map. The historical center is also being destroyed. The people of Mariupol have no choice but to protest against the destruction of the city through signs. 

 The defender of Mariupol Mykhailo Dianov donated more than 2 million hryvnias for bionic prostheses for soldier Roman Grigorian. They are prescribed to the defender by American doctors. In July, the fighter came under fire with cluster munitions in Bakhmut. He lost his right arm and right leg. Mykhailo Dianov learned the defender’s story when he was undergoing surgery in the USA. 

Luhansk Oblast

The russians are pulling even more newly mobilized and convicts of the Wagner troops in the direction of Kreminna.

In addition to Polovynkyne, the russian military “closed” another settlement -the village of Titarivka. They are repressing the population, looking for those who cooperate with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Southern oblasts

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

A day before the russians shelled Orihiv and Stepnohirsk again.

As a result of the shelling of the village of Primorske in the Stepnohirsk community, two people were killed and three others were injured. One killed and one injured persons were employees of the village council, who were on their way to deliver firewood to local residents.

In addition, enemy fire was recorded yesterday in the areas of Poltavka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka and Stepove. During the past 24 hours, the National Police received 16 reports about the destruction of buildings and civil infrastructure as a result of enemy attacks.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained a traitor who dreamed of occupying Zaporizhzhia. The accomplice of the enemy turned out to be an engineer of one of the state-owned enterprises located in the east of Ukraine. The traitor collected information about the placement of strategic objects in the southeastern regions of Ukraine. Under the guise of a business trip, the agent traveled to Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia to identify energy and railway infrastructure facilities, which were targeted by enemy rocket attacks. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail.

Residents of the temporarily occupied Pology community have not been allowed to enter the territory controlled by Ukraine for two months, and are forced to make passes to pass through checkpoints.

Mykolaiv Oblast

In the morning, the russian army shelled Chornobaivka and Komyshany. Houses, cars, agricultural premises, power lines and gas pipelines are damaged. Four people were injured. 

Sappers of the Mykolaiv 123rd Territorial Defense Brigade are working on the territory of the village of Oleksandrivka in the Kherson Oblast, which was deoccupied in November. Specialists are clearing fields, roads and houses. 

Kherson Oblast

The russians shelled Beryslav again. The projectile hit the house. The family consisting of a husband, a wife and their 12-year-old son died.

On January 5, the russian army shelled the fire department in Kherson. There are no casualties or injuries.

The russian army fired about 7 artillery shells and the Grad multiple rocket launchers at Chornobaivka. At the place of the explosions, the roofs of the houses were blown off. Two people were injured, one of them was taken to the hospital.

Today, the russian occupiers shelled the central part of Kherson. They hit a house. A 20-year-old man died of his injuries.

 The military of the russian federation is trying to test the strength of the Defense Forces and is sending sabotage and reconnaissance groups to the islands near Kherson. Not a single attempt by the russians to move through the Dnieper was successful.

In the left-bank part of the Kherson Oblast, the occupation authorities banned the circulation of the hryvnia from the beginning of 2023. Local residents exchange reserves of hryvnias for rubles, or look for points where they can withdraw cash from the card of Ukrainian banks.

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces made 20 strikes on the concentration areas of the occupying forces, as well as five strikes on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems.

A warehouse with Ukrainian symbols was discovered in one of the de-occupied settlements of the Kherson Oblast. It was deliberately collected by the russian military and sent home as trophies of a “special military operation”.

Coordinators of “Active Community” in Skadovsk create initiative groups to solve social problems of internally displaced persons.

Central Oblasts

Vinnytsia Oblast

The war took the lives of three residents of the Khmilnyk community. Dmytro Zaruba, a resident of Khmilnyk, and Serhii Loik, a resident of Velykyi Mytnyk village, were brought home “on the shield”. Kalynivka (Khmilnyk Raion) mourns Bohdan Pustovalov, who died on December 30, defending the integrity and independence of Ukraine. Eternal memory to Heroes.

Cherkasy Oblast

The first evacuation train arrived in Zvenyhorodka (Cherkasy Oblast). The region received fifty people from the hot spot of the country, from Donetsk Oblast. IDPs are provided with housing, money and necessary assistance.

Kirovohrad Oblast

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Kirovohrad Oblast has accepted 49 relocated enterprises from Luhansk, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Odesa, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts. 35 of them are already fully operational. The rest are completing the installation of capacities. Enterprises of various industries received registration in the communities of the oblast: garment production, machine building, food industry, manufacturing of polymer, chemical and jewelry products, trade, creation of film, television and media content, etc.

Employees of schools, kindergartens and extra-curricular institutions of the Oleksandria community collected 418 thousand hryvnias for rehabilitation equipment for Ukrainian defenders. This made it possible to purchase three special electromyostimulators for the oblast clinical hospital for war veterans in Kropyvnytskyi.

Poltava Oblast

Poltava Oblast held a solemn farewell to the fallen sons. Six fighters returned home dead: Oleksii Kuts from Kremenchuk, Eduard Tsvitchenko from the village of Drabynivka, Mykola Babenko from Poltava, Ruslan Onikienko from Sukhynivka (Kobeliaky Raion), Ihor “Horets” Leshchyn from Poltava, Vladyslav Lisovyi from Kremenchuk Raion. They died for each of us. Eternal glory to the Heroes.

Poltava Oblast is at the top in terms of involvement in the “Army of Reconstruction” program. 772 people have already performed socially useful works. A total of 38 communities of Poltava Oblast have participated.

Western Oblasts

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

Today, the Hero of Ukraine, the famous centurion of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army [UPA] from Prykarpattia, Myroslav Simchych, nicknamed “Kryvonis”, turns 100 years old. A member of the Ukrainian liberation movement of the last century spent more than 30 years in forced labor camps due to his activities in the UPA. But even there he waged an active underground struggle against the soviet system. By presidential decree dated October 14, 2022, Myroslav Simchych was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star Order for heroism shown in the struggle for Ukraine’s independence. The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk personally congratulated the jubilee.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Bukovyna paid the last respects to the servicemen who died for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. A solemn farewell to soldiers Mykola Solovan and Vadym Hulevatyi took place today on the Alley of Glory of the Central Cemetery of Chernivtsi.

Storozhynets Lyceum purchased a car for defenders. In order to contribute to the victory of the Ukrainian people over the aggressor, students, parents and teachers held fairs, charity events, participated in the initiatives of the National Bank of Ukraine and attracted funds from patrons. As a result, it was possible to collect 1500 euros and 5000 hryvnias. Therefore, the soldiers of military unit A2582, including the father of a lyceum student, received a gift from the educational institution, which was already sent to the front.

Residents of the village of Vasyliv (Kadubivtsi community) actively help the front, collect food, medicine and join the campaign “Warm up the warrior”. Together, they managed to collect 400 euros and purchase a generator for the defenders. They also bought 150 tourniquet harnesses.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

39 families of internally displaced persons in the Kamianets-Podilskyi community received assistance from the International Organization for Migration, cooperation with which began in December last year.

At the city hospital, current repairs have been completed at the institution’s expense. Almost 40 windows were replaced in the therapeutic and infectious departments and in the food block. From now on, the room will retain heat better, which will improve the living conditions of patients.

The tournament “Christmas Ring” was held in Moldova. Among the 157 participants, young boxers of the Children’s and Youth Sports School №2 of Kamianets-Podilskyi were represented there. Oleksandr Henzerovskyi (weight category – 40 kg) won all three matches and received a gold medal. Taras Korniychuk (weight category – 66 kg) competed twice and won twice.

Rivne Oblast

In the Rivne Oblast, soldiers began to be treated to free lunches in a roadside cafe. Such a volunteer project is implemented in the village of Sytne (Krupets community). It was initiated by the owners of the cafe. The defenders are offered both first courses and second courses, compote and fruit. Local residents have already started helping with volunteer lunches for the military.

Zakarpattia Oblast

In Uzhhorod, the city program of medical rehabilitation of military personnel who took direct part in hostilities will operate. The corresponding program for 2023-2025 was approved at the first meeting of the executive committee of the Uzhhorod City Council in 2023. It is about physical and psychological rehabilitation. Rehabilitation treatment is designed for at least 12 days.

Financial support of the Program for 3 years is 16 million 80 thousand hryvnias.

A master class on painting gingerbread in the shape of Christmas stars is held at the Zakarpattia Museum of Folk Architecture and Life. Both children and adults can take part in it. Among the participants are IDPs and children whose parents are defending Ukraine.
