Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

Yesterday evening, the enemy launched unmanned aerial vehicles over Kyiv. The object was shot down by anti-aircraft defense forces and means. The wreckage of the UAV hit a four-story building in the Solomyanskyi raion. A fire broke out. As a result of the fall of the UAV debris, the structures of the building on an area of ​​150 square meters were destroyed.

A fire also broke out in a small area in the Pecherskyi raion. Due to the fall of UAV debris. The buildings are intact. There are no victims.

Kyiv Oblast

Explosive objects were liquidated in Bucha, Vyshgorod and Boryspil raions today.

The German fund «Ambulance for Ukraine» and the community of the German city of Neuss will cover the debts for the education of students of the State Tax University in Irpin, whose families suffered great losses due to the war. According to the STU, a student can receive assistance from the fund in three formats – one-time, during the year and before the end of the study period. This was agreed upon by acting university rector Dmytro Serebryansky with representatives of the foundation, with the head of the city administration Noys Gins Jürgen and the Consul General of Ukraine in Dusseldorf Aryna Shum. The meeting took place during Dmytro Serebryanskyi’s working visit to Germany.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr, an employee of the military commissariat and his accomplice were exposed for illegally selling ammunition. The perpetrators were detained during the sale of hand grenade launchers and cartridges for automatic weapons for 100,000 hryvnias. The men’s residence was searched and evidence was seized. Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for them is being resolved.

In three months, the taxpayers of Zhytomyr Oblast allocated more than 3 million hryvnias of military tax to the budget to support the Armed Forces. This year’s revenue compared to the corresponding period of 2022 increased by 67%.

Zhytomyr Oblast will receive 45 million hryvnias from the state budget for bomb shelters for educational institutions.

In Zhytomyr Oblast, restoration of artificial structures that were destroyed at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia into Ukraine is underway. Currently, the bridge over the Dubovets River is being overhauled on the Kyiv-Chop highway.

The Zvyagel community received three diesel generators for critical enterprises. Thanks to these alternative sources of energy, local utilities will be able to provide utility services to the population in extreme conditions.

In Zhytomyr, children of fallen servicemen will be congratulated with gifts on Heroes’ Day, May 23. This decision was agreed upon during a meeting of the executive committee.

Chernihiv Oblast

On the morning of May 5, russian troops shelled the border areas of Chernihiv Oblast. The Novgorod-Siversk community in the area of ​​the village of Buchky came under fire. The military recorded four hits. They were probably unguided air missiles launched from a rotorcraft. In the afternoon, an airstrike was recorded on a border village in Chernihiv Oblast. The russians dropped a guided aerial bomb from an SU-35 aircraft in the area of ​​the village of Ivanivka in the Semenivka community. Residents of Ivanivka reported that residential buildings in the village were damaged by the airstrike: the roof of one house was seriously damaged, and the windows of another house were blown out. Several farm buildings were also destroyed.

Sumy Oblast

During the day of May 4, the russian military shelled the border communities of Sumy Oblast 14 times. About 90 explosions were recorded. Settlements of Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Khotin, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Shalygyne, Nova Sloboda, and Velyka Pysarivka communities were shelled. One private household was damaged as a result of shelling of the Yunakivka community. Two private households were damaged in the Bilopillia community. As a result of shelling of the Khotin community, the cultural center and two residential buildings were damaged. In the Nova Sloboda community, a local resident was injured as a result of one of the shellings.

On the morning of May 5, the russians shelled the village of Tovstodubove in the Esman community. As a result, a civilian house and yard were damaged.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

During the past day, the enemy fired artillery, mortars and other weapons at the border and front-line settlements of the Kharkiv, Chuguyiv, Izyum and Kupyansk raions of the Oblast. In particular, Chervona Zoria, Hlyboke, Lyptsi, Vesele, Ohirtseve, Vovchanski Khutory, Veterynarne, Novomlynsk, Kamianka, Dvorichna, Vilkhuvatka, Zapadne, Lyman Pershyi, Izyumske and other settlements were under enemy fire.

Shelling damaged private residential buildings, farm buildings, and caused fires. There were no casualties among the civilian population.

Demining works continue in the Oblast. Over the past day, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service inspected more than 12.5 hectares of territory and neutralized 83 explosive objects.

Donetsk Oblast

On May 4, two people died in New York and Bakhmut. Three residents of New York and one resident each of Toretsk and the village of Mykolayivka of the Kostyantynivka community were injured.

Since February 24, 2022, the russians have killed 1,491 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, wounded another 3,474. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Law enforcement officers removed all children from 16 front-line settlements in the Donetsk Oblast.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion

On May 4, the russian military shelled the Kostyantynivka community four times – the Mykolayivka and Predtechyne starosta`s districts, as well as the outskirts of Kostyantynivka.

On the night of May 5, Kostyantynivka came under artillery fire. As a result of shelling, administrative buildings, residential buildings and the power grid were damaged.

Today, the russian military shelled the industrial zone of Kramatorsk, aimed at the main building of the city-forming enterprise – there were no casualties or injuries.

A 16-year-old girl, who was wounded as a result of the shelling of Kramatorsk by the russian military on April 29, died in the hospital. At that time, two people were injured – a woman and a child born in 2006, who were taken to the hospital in serious condition with burns.

In the Lysychansk direction, 2 houses were damaged in Zvanivka, 1 in Siversk and 1 in Zarichne of the Lyman community.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

The enemy did not conduct any offensive in the Avdiivka sector. They fired at Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Netaylove and Karlivka.

In the Mariinka sector, the enemy is trying to improve the tactical situation. Numerous enemy attacks in Maryinka were repelled over the day. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, and Heorhiivka came under enemy fire.

In the Donetsk sector, the Kurakhove community came under fire 8 times – 2 houses were damaged: in Hannivka and Uspenivka.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

Russia is deploying additional forces to “take Bakhmut” by May 9, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said. Fighters of the terrorist organization “Wagner” are being transferred from other areas to the Bakhmut area, and are being replaced by assault units of russian paratroopers.

The Toretsk community was under fire all day long – 16 houses were damaged. Another 1 house was damaged in Chasiv Yar.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

In the Volnovakha sector, a house in Maksymivka was destroyed, and Novoukrainka and Vuhledar came under fire.

Luhansk Oblast

On May 4, russians once again launched an offensive against Bilohorivka, but were forced to return to their previously occupied positions. Facing return fire, the enemy stops these attempts. For a considerable period of time, he has not had any success in this section of the front. In addition, Ukrainian defenders are reducing the enemy’s equipment reserves almost daily.

Teachers in the occupied territories are forcing children to participate in public propaganda events until May 9.

The occupiers have stated that all residents of the temporarily occupied territories at the age of 14 are obliged to obtain a russian passport. Otherwise, their parents will pay a fine and may be deprived of parental rights in the future.

Southern Oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

As of 07:30 a.m. on May 5, no hostile attacks were registered in Mykolaiv Oblast.

Zaporizhzhya Oblast

Over the past day, russian troops shelled 18 localities in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. In particular, they carried out three air strikes, attacked three times with drones, attacked twice with MLRS, and used artillery 84 times.

On May 4, in the evening, the russian military conducted another air strike on the town of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. There were no reports of casualties or injuries.

As of today, May 5, the sale of alcohol has been banned in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. A similar “decree” was issued by Governor Balytskyi.

Ukrainian defense forces destroyed a russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system in the Tavriya sector.

Odesa Oblast

A seminar of educators from all over the country was held in Odesa as part of the educational section of the Association of Ukrainian Cities. The event discussed the problems of local self-government in the field of education, ways to address crisis issues, and the functioning of the education system in emergency situations.

Alternative vacation spots are being prepared in Odesa and the region. They will not be located on the coast, as it can be dangerous there.

Kherson Oblast

On May 4, russian troops fired 95 times at Kherson Oblast with heavy artillery, “Grad” rockets, tanks, drones, and aircraft, and five times at Kherson. The shells hit residential areas, the territory, and buildings of a plant in Beryslav. Two people were wounded.

At night, russian troops shelled Kherson with artillery. In total, 10 attacks on the territory of the Kherson community were recorded over the past day. There were hits in the Korabelnyi district of the city, in Molodizhne, Sadove, Blahovishchenske, and Zymivnyk.

Today, russian troops shelled Beryslav. They also dropped bombs near the village of Vesele, wounding a 70-year-old woman who was in her yard. Also, a church building was destroyed in Vesele after the shelling, and people’s houses were damaged. In addition, the russian army attacked Kozatske. In total, about 20 houses in the settlements were damaged by russian air strikes.

A russian guard unit arrived in the temporarily occupied Oleshky, Kherson Oblast. The soldiers settled in the homes of the town’s forcibly evacuated residents.

During the day, sappers neutralized explosive devices in the de-occupied settlements of Kherson Oblast. Pyrotechnics inspected more than eight hectares of territory and about five kilometers of power lines.

Ukrainian defense forces attacked russian troop concentrations on the left bank of the Kherson Oblast twice yesterday. They destroyed 25 pieces of equipment: 15 armored vehicles, two large-caliber cannons, and eight drones.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On the night of May 5, russian army shelled Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Ten houses, fences, and outbuildings were damaged. A power line and two gas pipelines were cut. Earlier, a farm building was damaged by shelling – the roof and windows were damaged. Moreover, 2 more drones were shot down by air defense forces over the region.

American politician Hillary Clinton was presented with a painting depicting a Ukrainian bandura player. The work was painted by a young artist from Kryvyi Rih, Yelyzaveta Levchenko. The painting depicts a Ukrainian Cossack with a mustache, bangs, and bandura. The 16-year-old from Kryvyi Rih was presented at the Art Showcase exhibition in winter, after which it was bought by volunteers and presented to the former US Secretary of State.

Kirovohrad Oblast

The head of the Kirovohrad OMA signed the Declaration of Support for the National Strategy for the Creation of a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine by 2030. To date, the regional plan of activities for the 23rd and 24th years has been approved. It contains almost fifty goals and 80 corresponding measures.

Mr. Etienne de Ponsin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine, arrived in Kirovohrad Oblast for the first time. Together with representatives of the regional authorities, he discussed the current situation in the region. They agreed on the activation and further development of Ukrainian-French relations at the regional level.

Cherkasy Oblast

The algorithm of actions during the liquidation of the consequences of an emergency situation was worked out in Cherkasy. For the first time, the training of emergency and law enforcement services was conducted at night, in order to bring them as close as possible to real events. Specialists practiced their skills in rescuing victims of road accidents and from damaged buildings, took a bus out of a ditch, dismantled debris, and built trenches to rescue people from basements. In the future, similar trainings will be held once every two months.

In Uman, they continue to overcome the consequences of a russian missile hitting a house. The international charitable foundation Global Empowerment Mission has already delivered the windows. From now on, repairmen are starting to install them in damaged houses. In total, 2 houses were destroyed. Another 25 damage. The special commission has already inspected 490 residential premises.

In the Uman raion, a charity auction collected almost 300,000 hryvnias to support the victims of the russian rocket in Uman. The art exhibition project “This is my war” was presented in Babanka. The lots of the charity auction were paintings.

“Sweet nuts for strong “nuts”: under this motto, the women of Cherkasy have been preparing sweets for the soldiers on different front lines for a year. The volunteers called themselves “Cherkaski lysychky” [Cherkasy foxes] and, despite the fact that each of them has a main job, every week they send hundreds of kilograms of treats to the defenders of Ukraine Now the Cherkasy Foxes team has 22 volunteers. 

Poltava Oblast

The profit from the sale at the charity event “Orchids for Mom” ​​will go towards the purchase of an SUV for the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade, where Poltava citizens serve, in particular. The total amount of collection and the cost of the Mitsubishi Pajero car is UAH 110,000. Part of the funds were collected by the military themselves, the other part is planned to be collected by volunteers during the five days of the sale.

In April, the Civilian Preparedness Center held 25 trainings attended by 301 participants to deepen their knowledge in various areas and be prepared for possible emergency situations.

Poltava Oblast is one of the leaders in the number of institutions that provide psychological assistance. The most of them are in Kharkiv Oblast – 31, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – 26. Poltava Oblast – 22.

For this, at the end of 2022, a new package was created in Poltava within the framework of the medical guarantee program. Primary care facilities provide support and treatment for adults and children with mental disorders.

A prayer breakfast was held in Poltava. The event was attended by representatives of Christian denominations, the public, regional authorities, soldiers, relatives of fallen soldiers, chaplains, as well as the head of the organizing committee of the National Prayer Breakfast of Ukraine Pavlo Unguryan, a member of the organizing committee of the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington Doug Bjorli and others.

Western Oblasts

Lviv Oblast

At the beginning of 2023, a DNA laboratory was opened in Lviv. The equipment for it was purchased in Germany and the USA. 38 million hryvnias were allocated for this from the regional budget. Here they help to establish persons during the war.

After-school centers for high school students will be created in Lviv. The centers will operate on the basis of several Lviv schools. They are created for the qualitative study of military affairs and pre-medical care.

Rivne Oblast

In the Rivne Oblast, servicemen of one of the military units began to take a leadership course under the sergeant’s program. In a “short period of time”, course participants study in depth tactical, tactical-special, fire training, psychology of military teams and undergo combat coordination. According to a separate plan, each of these servicemen-leaders conducts classes with his department. In this way, it was possible to achieve continuous training of all categories of servicemen.

Representatives of the veteran organization of police officers from the city of Eibergen (Kingdom of the Netherlands) brought more than 4 tons of humanitarian aid to the Rivne Oblast. In particular, medical equipment, hygiene products, necessary household items and food products. Support for the Klevan hospital for war veterans was discussed during the meeting.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Today, twenty-five citizens took part in the 38th action “Bring the heroes home” in Khmelnytskyi. With flags and placards in their hands, they marched peacefully in support of Ukrainians who are in russian captivity.

The sixth aid was sent to the residents of the village of Virnopillya, in the Kharkiv region, by volunteers of the public organization “Artistic Hundred of Haidamaki”. The village was almost destroyed during the hostilities, and now people are returning there to rebuild their homes.

In Khmelnytskyi, they started working on the implementation of the pilot video project “Paths of Khmelnytskyi”. It was started by specialists of the local tourist information center. The videos will show the history of the ancient buildings of the regional center.

Chernivtsi Oblast

The Department of Social Protection of the Population together with the head of the Chernivtsi Regional Organization of People with Disabilities “Leader” public organization Valentina Dobridina held a flash mob. Officials of the regional military administration moved to wheelchairs and verified from their own experience whether the city is suitable for moving around in wheelchairs. 

Two modern kitchens with the necessary equipment and renovated toilets appeared in the Chernivtsi Oblast Center of social and psychological assistance thanks to benefactors. The establishment was supported by the German humanitarian organization SAP ANAMUR, whose representative office was located in Novoselytsa.

Residents of Sadhora received humanitarian aid from European benefactors. Volunteers and entrepreneurs came to the “Sadhora” primary health care center with food packages, hygiene products and goodies. 

Automatic defibrillators were installed in 11 locations in Chernivtsi. They will come in handy if a person’s heart stops and it is necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation urgently.

More than 300,000 russian-language books have been seized from the libraries of the Chernivtsi Oblast since the beginning of the full-scale invasion – the most in the Chernivtsi Oblast. In general, approximately 60% of library collections in the region need to be written off.

Zakarpattia Oblast

Deputies of the Uzhhorod City Council voted for the Support Program for one of the military units for 2023-2024. Yes, the financial support of the Program is planned in the amount of 30 million hryvnias for 2 years, of which 20 million hryvnias are for 2023. The goal is to ensure the readiness of the military unit to perform tasks, provide assistance to the military unit, etc.

New services have appeared on the regional portal “Help Transcarpathia”, which can replace a visit to the military commissariat. The deputy head of the Transcarpathian Oblast Military Administration presented the modern online service to representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A rehabilitation department will be opened for military personnel in Mukachevo. 50 defenders will be able to undergo rehabilitation here every day, this will be the first specialized rehabilitation department in the Transcarpathian Oblast, where they will provide comprehensive assistance to military personnel in recovery after severe injuries.

More than four dozen students of the Uzhgorod National University are interning at the Uzhhorod City Council – they get practical experience in teamwork, organization and planning. Interns of senior years of higher education have the opportunity to prove themselves well and be enrolled in the personnel reserve of the Uzhhorod City Council.
