Northern oblasts
Kyiv
The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has imposed pre-trial restraints on all five officials of the State Emergency Service in the case of the helicopter crash in Brovary that killed the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The court sentenced four of the defendants to two months in custody without bail. The head of the flight security service will be under house arrest around the clock for two months.
Kyiv is preparing for a difficult heating season taking care of repairing networks and stocking up on fuel. The number of “invincibility points” will also be increased. More than 400 million hryvnias have been allocated from the capital’s budget for this purpose.
A trident for the Motherland monument has been delivered to the territory of the Glory Park. Today, it will be installed instead of the Soviet coat of arms on the monument’s shield at a height of almost 90 meters. All works are scheduled to be completed by August 23.
The presentation of the book Eyes of Mariupol. Ukrainian superheroes. Azovstal took place in the capital. The book contains excerpts from correspondence of and calls from the defenders of the Ukrainian outpost city. It also contains photos and stories of the heroic defenders, drawings dedicated to them by their loved ones and artists from all over the country, and poems.
Kyiv Oblast
Funds have been allocated from the fund for the elimination of the consequences of the armed aggression to restore 38 housing facilities in the Kyiv Oblast. This was announced at a briefing by Mykola Boyko, Deputy Head of the Kyiv Oblast State Administration. These are apartment buildings in Irpin, Makariv, Piskivka, Bucha, Vasylkiv, Vyshhorod, and other settlements.
In the Kyiv Oblast, they want to provide comprehensive support to wounded soldiers during their treatment. In particular, they will help with paperwork, find the right specialists, and provide psychological support to the soldier and his family.
Chernihiv Oblast
On the morning of August 5, russian troops shelled two villages in the border area. The Novhorod-Siversk community came under fire. Yesterday, the Semenivka community came under massive fire from the occupiers. Russians shelled the village of Yanzhulivka with mortars, 40 hits were recorded. The village of Bleshnia was also hit, there were 10 explosions there. In the Snovsk community, the occupiers fired mortars and artillery at the villages of Khrinivka and Kliusy.
Sumy Oblast
At night and in the morning, the russian military shelled the territory of the Sumy Oblast five times. Three territorial communities came under fire: Khotyn, Seredyna-Buda, and Shalyhyne. There were no casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure.
As a result of the shelling of the Sumy Oblast on August 4, two civilians were wounded, nine residential buildings, an agricultural company building, a car, a tractor, and power lines were damaged.
Eastern oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is preparing to deliver two subway rolling stocks to Kharkiv, following the meeting between the mayor of Kharkiv and the vice mayor of the Polish twin city, Michał Olszewski, and the head of the Warsaw metro, Jerzy Lejk.
Employees of one of the city’s kindergartens weave camouflage nets for the needs of Ukrainian defenders. This year they have already made more than 150 nets. The volunteers send the finished products to the front line, to the checkpoints of the territorial defense forces, and to the volunteer organization “Berehyni Kharkova” (Guardians of Kharkiv).
Donetsk Oblast
On August 4, russians wounded one resident of the Donetsk Oblast.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the russians have killed 1,642 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 3,930 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Forced evacuation of children was announced in nine more settlements of the Donetsk Oblast located near the front line. They plan to take away 130 children.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
The day before, russians fired a missile at the area near Kramatorsk, setting dry grass on fire, but causing no casualties.
In the Lysychansk sector, one house was damaged in Siversk and another one in Zvanivka. 19 shelling attacks on the Lyman community were recorded.
A mobile medical team of local doctors works in the Kostiantynivka community in the Donetsk Oblast. The vehicle, medicines and equipment for doctors were provided by benefactors. Every day, the team travels to districts of the city remote from the hospital, and to the villages of the community: Ivanopillia, Novodmytrivka, and Stinky.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
On the Donetsk side, in the evening, Avdiivka was subjected to massive artillery shelling. One person was injured. In the Kurakhove community, Kurakhove, Kurakhivka and Dalnie were shelled. Krasnohorivka and Kostiantynivka of the Marinka community were shelled during the day.
Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
Five buildings in New York were damaged by an aerial bomb in the Horlivka direction. One house was damaged in the Chasiv Yar community.
Mariupol
Under the guise of “renovation”, the russian occupiers are robbing the apartments of Mariupol residents. People are evicted during the works, and when the residents returned to their own apartments, they were looted.
LEGO has released four more figures of defenders of Mariupol. Now the collection was replenished by “Azov” Valery Petrenko “Teivaz”, as well as his friends – “Stix”, “Alligator” and “Islam”. All of them died defending Mariupol from the russian invaders. Valery himself was in captivity for 354 days. When he returned, on his 27th birthday, his wife Kateryna presented him with figurines named after him.
Luhansk Oblast
On the night of August 5, the russian military shelled Nevske in the Luhansk Oblast with Grad MLRS, and in the evening of August 4, they hit the village with phosphorus shells. As a result of shelling, a house was destroyed, a farm was damaged, and cattle died from the fire.
People can go to Luhansk on business if they have a russian passport. Local registration or a pass is not required, unlike cities closer to the front line.
Southern oblasts
Mukolaiv Oblast
The anti-aircraft defense forces in the Mykolaiv Oblast destroyed the reconnaissance drone “Merlin”.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
During the past day, August 4, the russian military shelled 24 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. There were no casualties or injuries.
About 100 russian servicemen are stationed on the territory of the school in the temporarily occupied Mykhailivka, the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Odesa Oblast
Odesa Deputy Mayor Oleh Bryndak met with the founder of the Canadian NGO “Fire Aid to Ukraine” Mr. Kevin Royle and the head of the Chamber of Commerce “Alberta-Ukraine” Mr. Vitaly Milentiev. Since 2014, the non-governmental organization has transferred to Ukraine about 250 tons of fire, medical, and rescue equipment. During the meeting, the parties discussed further cooperation.
The rehabilitation center for military personnel will be expanded in Odesa. The institution for wounded fighters opened in June is still under construction, but most of it is already operational. Work is also underway to open a second center.
For the first time in Odesa, the campaign in support of prisoners of war “Bringing the heroes home” is being held. About 100 people took part in it.
Kherson Oblast
Yesterday, the russian army carried out airstrikes near Odradokamianka. Two men and one woman were injured, houses were destroyed.
The enemy attacked more than 25 settlements in the oblast with artillery. There were four injured. A gap formed on the road, houses and cars were destroyed. Over the past day, the police received 377 statements and reports from residents of Kherson and Beryslav raions.
Today at around 9 a.m., russian troops shelled the village of Veletenske in the Kherson Raion with artillery. A man received shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized. Houses were also damaged.
On the right bank of the Kherson Oblast, due to the proximity to the front line, 31 settlements remain without electricity. The authorities are considering the possibility of delivering mobile transformer substations there.
On the island of Dzharylhach, the most valuable steppe area has been burning for the fifth day. The main part of the steppe ecosystems of the island and the population of all rare steppe animals that are in the national park are concentrated here. Due to the occupation of the island by russian troops, the fire is not extinguished.
Central Oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
Russian troops attacked Nikopol and the Marganets community on the night of August 5 with heavy artillery. There were no casualties or injuries.
During the war, Kryvyi Rih became a refuge for more than 80,000 residents of 15 oblasts of Ukraine. Humanitarian hubs were also opened to support people in the city. In partnership with the Bakhmut Raion, a consultation and coordination center was created.
The relocation of the monument to Leonid Brezhnev was completed in Kamianske (former Dniprodzerzhinsk). Now it is located in the alley next to the Museum of the history of the city.
Kirovohrad Oblast
The Southern Regional Coordination Center for the Treatment of Prisoners of War was opened in Kropyvnytskyi. It covers four oblasts: Kirovohrad, Odesa, Kherson, and Mykolaiv. Here, specialists provide psychological and legal assistance to the families of soldiers who were captured or disappeared, as well as to Ukrainian defenders who returned from captivity.
Poltava Oblast
The widow and daughter of a soldier from the Poltava Oblast received his posthumous award. The family of defender Serhiy Skrybchenko was handed his Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree. The soldier was seriously wounded in battle last year and died in the hospital after 6 days of fighting for his life.
22 Administration Services Centres in the Poltava Oblast received 150 card readers for reading information from ID cards. These devices will help to quickly process documents during the war during the provision of administrative services. The equipment was provided by UNDP within the framework of the project “EU4Recovery – Empowerment of communities in Ukraine” with the financial support of the EU.
For the first time, a charity flea market in support of rescuers will be held in Poltava. Residents of Poltava can sell their things – new or used, but in perfect condition. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a DJI Mavic 3 drone for the State Emergency Service in the neighboring Kharkiv Oblast.
Western oblasts
Rivne Oblast
A car, quadcopters, thermal imagers, collimator sights and laser pointers – all this was purchased at the expense of Rivne NPP employees, who deduct 3% from their salaries every month. This time, aid will go to Zaporizhzhia, the Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts to carry out combat missions.
85 young residents from the Rivne Oblast are vacationing in Poland. These are children from families of military personnel and immigrants. The summer camp was organized for them thanks to the partnership with the Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships.
Volyn Oblast
The soldier of the Volyn 14th OMBr (separate mechanized brigade) named after Prince Roman the Great Vladyslav Kirichenko was personally awarded by the President of Ukraine with the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree. 8-year-old Markiian Skorin from Lviv collected money for the video game “Roblox”, but together with his mother, he decided to transfer it to a drone for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The drone is already used by 47 military brigades. It is engraved in honor of the boy’s favorite game hero.
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, posthumously awarded soldier Ihor Semian from the Verkhovyna Raion of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast with the Order of Courage, III degree.
The 21st rehabilitation center started working in Prykarpattia. Ukrainian wounded defenders, neurological patients with lesions of the musculoskeletal system will be treated there. The government plans to increase the network of rehabilitation institutions in the oblast, because the need for them is growing.
Zakarpattia Oblast
The first course of the Zakarpattia Regional Center for Training the Population for National Resistance continues its work. Classes on tactical medicine and disaster medicine were held for his students. Upon completion of training, they will be ready to respond to freelance and critical situations on the territory of the oblast, to join the security forces and rescuers.
Tetiana Lomakina, an adviser to the President of Ukraine on barrier-free issues, paid a working visit to Zakarpattia. Together with the leadership of the Oblast, she discussed the implementation in the Oblast of the National Strategy for the creation of a barrier-free space in Ukraine.
