Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Today, May 9, Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, arrived in Kyiv. The European Parliament was the first EU institution to advocate for granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership.

Also, German Development Minister Svenja Schulze arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit to prepare for a conference on the recovery process to be held in Berlin.

Chernihiv Oblast

On May 8, russian troops shelled three border communities in the Chernihiv Oblast in the course of the day. They fired mortars and tube artillery.

This afternoon, an explosion sounded during an air raid in Pryluky. The consequences are being established.

Sumy Oblast

The russian army attacked 9 border communities in the Sumy Oblast on May 8. They used mortars and artillery. Also, hits by guided aerial bombs and kamikaze drones were recorded in the oblast. Three private households and a school building were damaged, while a former agricultural company building was destroyed.

On May 9, russian soldiers shelled five communities in the Sumy Oblast. As many as 46 explosions were recorded.

Eastern regions

Kharkiv Oblast

The shelling of Lyptsi, Baranivka, Staryi Saltiv, and Bilyi Kolodiaz by the russian federation damaged private houses, a hospital, a car, power lines, and a garage.

Three of the four children who were wounded in the attack on the Saltivskyi district on May 8 are now in the intensive care unit. The two boys are in serious condition, and the 8-year-old girl will be treated in an outpatient clinic.

Kupiansk was attacked by the enemy. One man was killed and a woman was wounded.

In Derhachi, the enemy hit an out-of-service gas station with a Lancet drone. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

This morning, russian drones attacked the village of Ivashky. Two hits caused damage to two private houses and outbuildings. No casualties were reported.

The Ukrainian defense forces repelled 16 russian attacks in the Kupiansk sector.

A total of 113 children and their families were evacuated from some localities in the Bohodukhiv, Izium, and Kharkiv raions.

Donetsk Oblast

Three people were injured due to russian shelling in the Donetsk Oblast on May 8. Two people were wounded in Krasnohorivka, another one in the village of Petrivka.

During the day, the Ukrainian military repelled 128 russian attacks in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. 45 times the russian army stormed the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Avdiivka direction, 26 attacks were repelled by the Ukrainian military in the Bakhmut direction.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

On the night of May 9, the russian army shelled Lyman. Enemies destroyed 5 private houses, damaged the fire station.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

The russian units broke into Krasnohorivka and established themselves on the territory of the refractory plant, the Ukrainian military blocked the occupiers at the enterprise. Currently, the enemy is averse to supply. Fighting continues.

Mariupol

In the temporarily occupied Mariupol, the russians are forming a register of people who are forbidden to live in the city due to fear of the return of “agents of the Defense Forces”.

Southern Oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

On the night of May 9, an unmanned aerial vehicle of the “Shahed 136/131” type hit the building of the former cultural center in the village of Pervomaiske, the Mykolaiv Oblast. The building was damaged, no one was injured. Also, during the day, the russian army attacked the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities.

A 65-year-old woman was wounded during russian shelling of the village of Mahdalynivka, the Zaporizhzhia Raion. The russian army hit residential buildings at night, the houses were damaged.

Odesa Oblast

At night, air defense forces shot down 17 out of 20 russian “Shahed” drones in Odesa.

Kherson Oblast

Yesterday, russian troops shelled 14 settlements in the Kherson Oblast. 12 high-rise buildings and 54 private houses, objects of critical and transport infrastructure, industry, as well as an administrative building, a post office and gas pipelines were damaged. One person is injured.

The russian military shelled Oleksandrivka of the Stanislav community. They hit the house. A 74-year-old man was injured.

At night, the russian air force dropped two guided aerial bombs on Beryslav. The local school was destroyed. There are no casualties or injuries.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The russian army struck Nikopol three times on the evening of May 8. First, with FPV drones, then the Grad MLRS was used. A private house is damaged . There are no casualties or injuries.

A 62-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were killed as a result of shelling in Nikopol in the morning of May 9. Two more men are wounded. As a result of the attack, a private house was occupied. High-rise buildings, a shop, two trade pavilions, farm buildings and a gas pipeline were demolished.

Energy workers continue restoration work at energy facilities in the Kirovohrad Oblast after the russian missile attack. The main objects of the enterprise “Dnipro-Kirovohrad” have been de-energized since 5:00.

Lviv Oblast

Lviv neurosurgeons removed a mine fragment from the brain of a 9-year-old boy from Kherson. On December 31, 2023, Mykhailo Volovykov was wounded in the head during a mortar shelling of the city, his 11-year-old friend died on the spot. An operation to remove fragments of the child’s crushed skull was performed in Mykolaiv. After a long rehabilitation, the boy began to have seizures and his parents turned to the Lviv Children’s Hospital of St. Nicholas.
