Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

A plan for the mass construction of shelters is being developed in Kyiv. The plan provides for the construction and arrangement of parking lots, protected lounges and halls in kindergartens and schools, as well as underground passages. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, this project is financed from the city budget, and 10 million hryvnias have been allocated to each district of Kyiv.

Kyiv Oblast

Kyiv Oblast will receive million-dollar windows to install in buildings damaged during the full-scale invasion. Such assistance will be provided to the Oblast by the Global Empowerment Mission international organization in partnership with the Howard Buffett Foundation. The corresponding memorandum of cooperation was signed by the founder of GEM, Mike Capponi, and the head of KOMA, Ruslan Kravchenko.

A Literary Lane will appear on Slovyanska Street in Irpin. There they will create the largest literary mural in Ukraine with images of famous Ukrainian writers.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Chernihiv Oblast

On May 20, the russians fired artillery and mines at the border area of ​​Chernihiv Oblast, namely, the Semenivka community. The villages of Zarichchia, Galaganivka, and Mykolaivka came under fire.

In Novgorod-Siverskyi community, the fight against a forest fire, which started as a result of russian shelling, continues.

Sumy Oblast

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Yesterday, the occupiers massively shelled settlements in the Kharkiv, Kupyansk, and Chuguyiv raions with artillery, mortars, and aircraft.

Yesterday afternoon, the enemy attacked Kharkiv with a kamikaze drone. The infrastructure facility was damaged. There were no casualties.

As a result of shelling in Kupyansk, buildings of a civilian enterprise and a private residential building were damaged, and fires broke out. A 44-year-old man was hospitalized with injuries.

In Vovchansk, Chuguyiv raion, shelling damaged private houses, farm buildings, garages, and destroyed 2 cars.

Civil infrastructure objects were damaged as a result of the shelling from the MLRS of the village of Lyman Pershyi in the Kupyansk raion.

Mine danger remains high in the Oblast. Yesterday evening, a 39-year-old man was injured and hospitalized in the village of Nova Husarivka, Izyum raion, as a result of a «Pelyustka» mine explosion.

Demining continues. Over the past day, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service inspected more than 8 hectares of territory and neutralized 137 explosive objects.

Donetsk Oblast

In the de-occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast, during the entire search period, law enforcement officers recorded 171 individual and three mass burials. 282 dead people were identified. 77 people remain unidentified, including 35 civilians and 42 servicemen of the Armed Forces.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the east of Pokrovsk Raion, 2 houses were damaged in Vovchenka of the Kurakhivka community. Sporadic russian shelling of Avdiivka was recorded, as well as shelling of the Ocheretyne community.

From May 25 to June 2, the director of the Pokrovsk Historical Museum, Angelina Rozhkova, will visit the School of Modern Languages at the University of St. Andrews as part of the Donbas in Focus project. During her stay in the UK, the museum director will make a presentation on the digitization of photographs and video materials of the historical museum in cooperation with the Center for Urban History of Southeast Europe (Lviv) at the final seminar of the project and will talk about the industrial heritage of Pokrovsk. This cooperation lays a solid foundation for establishing ties with international partners.

In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy conducted offensives in the areas of Novokalynove, Avdiivka, and Sievernohl, but were unsuccessful. Yesterday, it conducted an air strike near Avdiivka and fired artillery in the areas of Novokalynove, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Pervomayske, Karlivka and Nevelske in Donetsk Oblast.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

The enemy continues to conduct offensive actions in the Bakhmut sector. Fighting for the town of Bakhmut continues.

Luhansk Oblast

A woman was killed in the village of Nevske in Luhansk Oblast by russian artillery shelling. Currently, about 60 local residents remain in the village.

Mykolaiv Oblast

On May 20, hostile shelling was recorded on the territory of the Kutsurub community. As a result, a private house was damaged. There were no casualties.

Also, on May 20, the enemy attacked the coastline and water area of Ochakiv in the Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Bashtanka, and Voznesensk Raions, the day and night were relatively calm.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Over the past day, on May 20, the russian military shelled 18 localities in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. They used aviation, artillery, MLRS, UAVs, and prohibited incendiary munitions. Over the day, 100 reports were received about the destruction of civilian homes and infrastructure as a result of shelling by russian military personnel. Odesa Oblast

The Pivdennyi port has been shut down due to russia’s actions, which have been blocking the entry of ships for almost a month, the USPA said. The port currently holds 1.5 million tons of agricultural products for 10 countries.

Kherson Oblast

During the past day, russian troops carried out an airstrike on Berislav and Kindiitsa. Zolota Balka, Vesele, Lviv, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Veletenske and Kherson also came under fire.

On the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression, which is celebrated on the third Sunday of May, in Ivano-Frankivsk, people who suffered from the Great Terror in 1937-1938, as well as those who died in the russian-Ukrainian war, were honored.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

In Khmelnytskyi, citizens laid flowers at the monuments to the victims of political repressions, at the Military Cemetery and “Angel of Sorrows” in the center of the city. The residents of Khmelnytskyi honored the memory of repressed Ukrainians with a moment of silence.

Zakarpattia Oblast

In Uzhgorod, the memory of the victims of political repressions committed by the soviet totalitarian regime was commemorated. Representatives of the regional and city authorities, the regional organization of the All-Ukrainian Society of Political Prisoners and the Repressed, clergymen, and townspeople laid flowers and lighted lamps at the memorial to the victims of political repressions in Heroiv Maidan Square.

Activities within the framework of the “West 2023” project are actively ongoing in Transcarpathia. It was organized at the initiative of the State Border Service with the aim of counteracting the intensification of illegal activities at the state border, increasing efforts in the protection of the state border, strengthening control over compliance with the state border regime and the border regime.

The interaction of the security services at the border areas has been going on for about 3 weeks. For the first time, cadets of the National Academy of Internal Affairs were involved in such events. Familiarization meetings were held with the young men, the situation at the border was explained and the specifics of the service were explained.
