Northern oblasts
Kyiv
On the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, almost a hundred soldiers from territorial defense units were awarded the “Honor. Glory. State” medals. The awards were presented by Mayor Vitalii Klitschko.
Kyiv received a new batch of aid from German partners. In particular, new modern ambulances, a fire engine, utility vehicles, a minibus, and a 20-ton humanitarian aid truck. Starting next week, the vehicles will operate in the city.
An exposition dedicated to the Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Matsiyevskyi was opened in Kyiv. The soldier was shot by russians when he said “Glory to Ukraine”. The monument is located on the territory of the National Historical and Architectural Museum “Kyiv Fortress”.
A photo exhibition dedicated to volunteers and their activities was opened on the Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge in Kyiv. The exhibition includes 100 photos of volunteers and volunteer organizations. The photos will be on display for a month.
On St. Nicholas Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited children who are being treated for injuries at the Okhmatdyt Maternal and Child Health Hospital.
Kyiv Oblast
In Irpin, on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the local community delivered aid to the military. 4 million hryvnias were raised for the needs of the army. These funds were used to purchase more than 15 vehicles, about 40 drones, Starlink and other equipment.
In the village of Myrotske, at gymnasium No. 12, benefactors helped equip the shelter. Soft sofas, ottomans, tables, and a projection screen were installed there. Currently, the gymnasium has announced the “Paint the shelter” project, which everyone can join.
Residents of the modular towns of the Bucha community received humanitarian aid from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The IDP families were provided with warm clothes, household appliances and kitchenware. Soon, the residents of the modular town in Vorzel will also receive relief supplies.
A two-day emergency first aid training was held for residents of the Irpin community. The participants practiced various scenarios. After the first attempt, mistakes were discussed with the instructors, after which the training was repeated.
Zhytomyr Oblast
On the night of December 6, the air defense forces destroyed Shahed drones over the Zhytomyr Oblast. Their number has not yet been reported.
On December 6, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and St. Nicholas Day together for the first time. On this day, Zhytomyr schoolchildren presented the wounded defenders who undergo treatment in the hospital, with “St. Nicholas” cookies, some of which they made with their own hands.
Chernihiv Oblast
Russian troops attacked five villages in the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast with air launched missiles, grenade launchers, and mortars.
On December 6, russians hit the car of the starosta of one of the villages of the Novhorod-Siversk community in the Chernihiv Oblast with an attack drone. On that day, he was helping to restore the power grid damaged by shelling. The enemy struck from a drone when the man got out of the car. The civilian car exploded and burned to the ground.
The President of Ukraine presented certificates for apartments to the mother of Oleksandr Matsiyevskyi, who was shot by russians after saying “Glory to Ukraine,” and to Leonid Khoda, the commander of the 1st Tank Brigade.
In Chernihiv, St. Nicholas treated trolleybus passengers to sweets, and they took selfies with him. At bus stops he took time to greet those waiting for their transport to arrive.
Sumy Oblast
At night, the russian army shelled 5 border communities in the Sumy Oblast. 17 explosions were recorded.
Two private houses were damaged by russian army shelling of Seredyna-Buda in the Sumy Oblast.
During the day, the russian military shelled Seredyna-Buda in the Shostka Raion. A 72-year-old and a 47-year-old local residents were injured. Apartment buildings, an educational institution, a medical institution, and an administrative building were also damaged, and a local hotel caught fire.
Eastern regions
Kharkiv Oblast
At least 18 settlements in the Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, and Kupiansk raions came under artillery and mortar fire over the course of the day.
Two women were wounded in Podoly, Kupiansk Raion, as a result of shelling. One of them was hospitalized, the other received medical aid on the spot.
Twice during the night, russians attacked the village of Lyptsi with drones, destroying a residential building and damaging infrastructure.
After yesterday’s strikes on Kozacha Lopan, 1,442 subscribers remain without electricity. In total, 254 subscribers in the Kharkiv Raion are temporarily without gas as a result of russian shelling.
The Zolochiv Agricultural Machinery enterprise was destroyed as a result of a russian airstrike on the village on the afternoon of December 6.
In the Kupiansk sector, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled eight russian attacks in the areas of Synkivka, Kharkiv Oblast, and Novoselivske, Luhansk Oblast.
Power engineers restored power supply to all consumers in the village of Topolske, Izium Raion. More than 100 households have electricity now. The power supply in the village disappeared in the first days of the russian invasion.
This morning, the lights of Kharkiv’s main Christmas tree were lit at the Universytet metro station. For the second year in a row, it has been placed in the subway for safety reasons. There was no official opening ceremony this year.
Donetsk Oblast
Yesterday, the occupiers shelled 13 settlements in the Donetsk Oblast 21 times.
One resident of the Donetsk Oblast died during the day. Another seven people in the Oblast were injured during the day.
Since February 24, 2022, the russians have killed 1,786 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, wounded another 4,369. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Eight energy workers have been injured since the beginning of a full-scale invasion during work in Donetsk region.
The Ukrainian military repelled 80 russian attacks in the Shakhtar, Marinka, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Lyman directions during December 5. Most of the assaults took place in the Lyman and Avdiivka directions.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
In Kramatorsk, the process of establishing the Council for Internally Displaced Persons is underway. Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
One woman died in the city of Chasiv Yar, and six other residents of the city were wounded by shelling on December 5. Also, one person was injured in Torsk yesterday.
Luhansk Oblast
The Security Service of Ukraine liquidated Popov, a member of the so-called “people’s council of the people’s republic of luhansk (lnr)”. His car exploded in temporarily occupied Luhansk.
The indictment against the so-called senator from the “lnr” in the federation council of the federal assembly of the russian federation was sent to the court. A woman from the Luhansk Oblast faces up to 15 years in prison.

Mykolaiv Oblast
Seven russian Shahed-136/131 drones were shot down in the Mykolaiv Oblast on the night of December 6. Falling debris damaged infrastructure in the Snihurivka and Ochakiv communities. The russian military also struck the town of Ochakiv.

Yesterday, russian military personnel struck 151 strikes on 24 populated areas. Nine reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.
A 62-year-old resident of Orikhove was injured as a result of artillery shelling by the russian army yesterday, December 5.
In the temporarily occupied Berdiansk, residents of several neighborhoods heard a powerful explosion. Descent from the mountain through Zahidny Avenue is completely blocked. A large number of russian military personnel are stationed in this area.
As of December 1, 2023, the total amount of losses in the Zaporizhia Oblast as a result of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation reached more than 14 billion 928 million 845 thousand hryvnias.
Today in Zaporizhzhia, 20 more prisms with portraits and biographies of fallen soldiers were installed on Heroes’ Alley.
Odesa Oblast
On the night of December 6, air defense forces shot down nine drones over Odesa.
The Ukrainian military destroyed a russian Su-24M bomber. It tried to launch a missile-bomb attack in the south of Odesa under the cover of a Su-30SM fighter in the area of Zmiiny Island.
During the day, the russian army dropped explosives three times along the probable route of civilian ships in the Black Sea.
Hero of Ukraine, deputy battalion commander of the Odesa Brigade, Serhiy Dudin, received a certificate for housing. The soldier took part in the battles near Lozove, freed from the occupation of the village of Sukhy Stavok in the Kherson Oblast, and since November 2022 has been fighting in the Donetsk direction.
Odesa maternity hospital No. 5 was visited by a delegation of the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine with the aim of expanding cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The foundation donated the latest transport incubator for babies. Also this year, maternity hospital No. 5 received medicines for the total amount of almost UAH 800,000 from UNFPA.
A Christmas tree of unity appeared in the city garden. For the Armed Forces Day and St. Nicholas Day, members of the Parliament of high school students decorated several Christmas trees. The students made the toys themselves.
Kherson Oblast
russian troops shelled the Kherson Oblast 101 times during the day. They targeted a medical institution in Kherson, another one in the Beryslav Raion. Three people died, seven were injured.
At night, the russian military shelled Kherson several times. There is a wounded person. As a result of the attack, a car caught fire, three more were damaged by debris. A medical facility and houses were also damaged.
In the sky over the Kherson Oblast, Ukrainian defenders shot down three russian Shahed-136/131 drones at night. Five more, including two Merlin-VR, two ZALA and one Lancet, were destroyed on December 5.
Today in Kherson, on the occasion of Armed Forces Day, the Lesia Ukrainka Central Library opened a photo exhibition “Length in War”. The exposition has more than 100 photos, which are constantly updated. They depict the crimes of the russian army, portraits of Ukrainian defenders who defend Ukraine in various directions and sections of the front.
Central Oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
Four drones were destroyed by air defense forces in the sky over the Kamianske, Dnipro and Pavlohrad raions. Also, on the night of December 6, the russian army shelled Nikopol. Four private houses and the same number of commercial buildings were damaged. The gas pipeline was also damaged. There were no casualties or injuries.

This night in the Kirovohrad Oblast, anti-aircraft defense destroyed 7 drones. There were hits. Two buildings were damaged. No one was injured.
Cherkasy Oblast
In the Zolotonosha community that night, air defense forces destroyed the enemy’s “Shahed” drone. People were not injured. There is minor damage to several buildings.
Today, servicemen of the 118th Territorial Defense Brigade were awarded. State awards and honors of the Cherkasy Oblast Council were presented to the defenders. Military personnel were honored on the occasion of the anniversary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A memorial plaque to the deceased police captain Ihor Melnyk was opened in Smila. It was installed on the facade of the police station building, where the man worked for more than nine years. Ihor Melnyk, a senior inspector of the explosives department of the police of the Cherkasy Oblast, died after being blown up by enemy mines in the Kherson Oblast. Then three more of his colleagues died together with him.
The famous Kherson volunteer Hryhorii Yanchenko, known as “Uncle Hrisha”, lived in Cherkasy for a week and collected money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The man is an honorary citizen of Kherson, one of the symbols of the Ukrainian resistance, the winner of the national competition “Benefactor of the Year”, the winner of the honorary award “Amber Angel of Good”. He has been volunteering to support the soldiers of Ukraine since 2014. Even during the occupation of Kherson, risking his life, he appeared in crowded places in a vyshyvanka [embroidered shirt], turned on the national anthem of Ukraine and collected funds.
Poltava Oblast
The President of Ukraine awarded the “Golden Heart” award to three volunteers from the Poltava Oblast. And four Poltava doctors were awarded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi. Doctors of the Sklifosovskyii oblast hospital received the “For the assistance of the army” badge.
Valerii Zaluzhnyi awarded Serhii Fedorets from the Poltava Oblast with the Silver Cross. He has combat missions near Avdiivka and Novobakhmutivka. The defender serves in the ranks of the 45th separate rifle battalion.
Pushkin Street will be renamed in honor of Yulian Matviichuk, a knight of the Order “For Courage” who fell at the front.
Today, new pickup trucks were handed over to soldiers defending Ukraine from the enemy. Five cars were purchased at the expense of the Lanna community budget. In total, over UAH 6 million were directed.
Western Oblast
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
Air defense was working in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast tonight. As a result of the air defense work, there were no injuries or damage in the area.
Chernivtsi Oblast
The mayor of Chernivtsi, Roman Klichuk, posthumously awarded the orders “For Courage” of the 3rd degree to seven fallen soldiers. Also, 19 more residents of the Chernivtsi Oblast received medals “To the Glory of Chernivtsi”.
In Vyzhnytsia, an Alley of memory of the Heroes of Vyzhnytsia was opened: in the center of the city, photos of Heroes who gave their lives for the Motherland were placed.
In Chernivtsi, students and teachers of the Chernivtsi Higher Vocational School of Radio Electronics No. 15 have been volunteering in the technology hub “Tech Hub Bukovyna” since the beginning of this year. They make up power banks of various capacities for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
In Ivano-Frankivsk, memorial plaques were opened to Andrii Kliuba and Taras Batoryk, soldiers of the 102nd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Hero of Ukraine from Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Roman Hlomba and the mother of the fallen Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Kotsiubailo, nicknamed Da Vinci, received housing certificates from President Zelenskyi on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In Ivano-Frankivsk, volunteers are taught to sew adaptive clothing and pajamas for wounded servicemen for free. The “Warmth of the House” initiative is implemented by representatives of the sewing co-working space “Klaptyk” within the framework of the “Young Ambassador(s) of Diversity” program. The training was organized for Volunteer Day, which is celebrated on December 5.
Ternopil Oblast
Gifts from St. Nicholas were handed over by the military to the children of fallen comrades. For the second year in a row, soldiers of the 105th Territorial Defence brigade visit the families of fallen soldiers from the Ternopil Oblast to congratulate the children on the holiday.
Zakarpattia Oblast
Traffic for trucks through the Vyshnie-Niemetske checkpoint on the border with Slovakia is unblocked. The action of the Association of Transporters of Slovakia ended the night before. As of this morning, there are 625 cargo vehicles in the queue on the territory of Slovakia in the direction of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of this year, in the Zakarpattia Oblast, about 50 orphans and children deprived of parental care have been adopted by family-type children’s homes and foster families. This indicator has doubled compared to 2022.
Basic social services for persons with disabilities were discussed at a round table held by the charitable organization “Caritas-Zakarpattia”. The participants got to know young people with disabilities, attended social workshops of “Caritas-Zakarpattia”, and social service providers shared their experience.
The weaving of nets for the military continued in the Chop City Council. In total, the craftsmen already have 11 ten-meter nets.
Kindergarten “Kazka” in Chop participated in the All-Ukrainian Game Week as part of the project “Ensuring the continuity of education and development of preschool children in crisis conditions in Ukraine”. 12 age groups, 28 teachers, and 160 children took part in the event.
