Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Kyiv experienced 865 air-raid alerts and surpassed the 1000-hour mark. The total duration of air alarms in the capital of Ukraine is 1001 hours and 50 minutes.

This week, the Kyiv Defenders project was launched in the capital. The initiative was implemented by ASD – Alpha Self Defense with the support of the Department of Youth and Sports. During five working days, for four weeks in a row, young patriots will have the opportunity to undergo free training in the following areas: tactical training, CQB (close quarters battle), CQB Intensive, and algorithms for planning a training-combat operation.

A mural in honor of Andriy “Ojos” Ohorodnyk was created in Kyiv. He took an active part in the defense of Kyiv at the beginning of the invasion and helped the Azov fighters in Mariupol. Unfortunately, on April 26, he died from a shrapnel wound.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr, the Transparent Office has registered more than a thousand appeals from veterans in six months. In March 2023, the Veteran administrative service resumed its work. Here veterans can get comprehensive information about their rights, benefits and guarantees.

In Zhytomyr, 60 rescuers of the first state fire and rescue unit received awards. The unit consists of 16 fire and rescue teams that eliminate the consequences of emergency events and situations in Zhytomyr and the Zhytomyr Raion.

Chernihiv Oblast

On September 16, russian troops shelled three border communities of the Chernihiv Oblast, namely Snovsk, Semenivka, and Novhorod-Siverskyi, using mortars, automatic mounted grenade launchers, and a helicopter.

Sumy Oblast

On September 16, russians shelled 9 communities of the Sumy Oblast. 217 explosions were recorded.

At night and in the morning of September 17, the russian military shelled the Seredyna-Buda, Yunakivka, Khotyn, and Krasnopillia communities in the Sumy Oblast. 28 explosions were recorded.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Last night, the enemy launched a missile attack on the city of Kharkiv. Four S300 guided missiles hit the building of a civilian enterprise. A fire broke out.

Yesterday, russians attacked Kharkiv with 5 cruise missiles of the Iskander K complex. Buildings of civilian enterprises and private houses were damaged, and fires broke out. Six civilians were injured. They were hospitalized in moderate condition.

Over the past day, the enemy shelled the settlements of the Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk, and Izium raions of the oblast.

The Russian occupiers hit a civilian car with a guided anti-tank missile in the area between the villages of Hlyboke and Strilecha in the Kharkiv Raion. A man and a woman in the car were killed on the spot. Another 72-year-old man, who also was in the car, was wounded. He was hospitalized in serious condition.

As a result of shelling of the village of Petropavlivka, Kupiansk Raion, a 23-year-old civilian was wounded.

During the day, the villages of Khatne and Podoly in the Kupiansk Raion, Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv Raion, Shyikivka in the Izium Raion, Ivashky in the Bohodukhiv Raion, Vovchansk in the Chuhuiv Raion, and other settlements were also under enemy fire. Private houses, outbuildings, and commercial premises were damaged, and fires broke out.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Over the past 24 hours, bomb squads of the State Emergency Service surveyed more than 3.7 hectares of territory and defused 84 explosive devices.

Donetsk Oblast

Over the past day, the russian army carried out 7 shelling attacks. The enemy used aviation, Smerch and Grad MLRS, and artillery. 4 settlements were under fire.

Buses and trucks are being seized from the areas of mines in the occupied territories of the Donetsk Oblast for the needs of the russian army.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

One civilian was wounded in Zarichne yesterday as a result of artillery attacks by the russian army.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

The Maryinka community came under hostile fire yesterday.

In the morning of September 17, the russian army massively shelled Avdiivka with artillery. As a result, a civilian born in 1958 was wounded. He was evacuated to Myrnohrad in moderate condition.

As of September 17, 1,654 people remain in Avdiivka. Five residents were evacuated from the city during the week. Avdiivka is preparing for the heating season. The community is waiting for the state subvention to buy firewood for critical infrastructure facilities and residents of vulnerable categories.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

Yesterday, the Chasiv Yar community came under fire from the russian army.

Active assault operations are underway in Klishchiivka. On September 16, the defense forces repelled 13 attacks by the russian army.

As of today, 52,000 russian troops are deployed in the Bakhmut sector, and a total of 150,000 russian servicemen are fighting on the eastern front.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

Vuhledar came under fire from the russian military yesterday. The village of Voskresenka was bombarded by the occupiers with Smerch MLRS.

Luhansk Oblast

Nevske and Bilohorivka suffered from artillery strikes. The so-called “government of the People’s Republic of Luhansk” has approved a program for the reconstruction of distribution networks until 2025, thanks to which it is allegedly planned to restore energy supply to populated areas affected by hostilities.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

On the night of September 17, four Shahed-136/131 type strike UAVs were destroyed by air defense forces and its means in the Mykolaiv Oblast.

On the night of September 17, a truck and dry grass caught fire outside the settlement of one of the communities as a result of falling fragments of a downed UAV, which was promptly extinguished. There are no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, the Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

100 strikes were carried out by the russian army on the cities and villages of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast last day, on September 16. Five airstrikes were recorded on Orikhiv and Preobrazhenka; anti-aircraft fire was used five times in Huliaipilske, Novodarivka, Chervone and Mali Shcherbaky. More than 10 settlements were shelled almost 90 times with artillery.

A woman died, and a boy is in the hospital as a result of a road accident involving the russian military in temporarily occupied Berdiansk. Russians hit people at a pedestrian crossing.

Odessa Oblast

At night, the enemy again attacked the Odesa Oblast. Air defense shot down five missiles and two drones over the Oblast.

russian missiles hit an agricultural enterprise in Odesa Oblast. An agricultural land and a grain storage are damaged in in the Berezivka Raion.

A memorial plaque to Mykhailo Marianych was unveiled at the Velyka Mykhailivka Lyceum in Odesa. The soldier died in April last year in the battle for Oleksandrivka in the Kherson Oblast.

A large city conference was held in Odesa regarding the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?” initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska. Representatives of the medical, educational, social spheres, city authorities, non-governmental organizations, volunteers and the public gathered to share experiences and join forces. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 90% of Ukrainians have experienced at least one symptom of anxiety, and about 50% of people are at risk of mental disorders.

Kherson Oblast

During September 16, the russian army attacked the Kherson Oblast 77 times with various types of weapons. It shelled residential quarters, hit an educational institution and two hydrotechnical structures in the Beryslav Raion. One person is injured.

At night, the russian army shelled a hospital in Mykilske of the Kherson Oblast. Shells damaged the paramedic-midwifery station. 

During the day, the russian army shelled Sadove of the Kherson Oblast. A policeman was injured in the back. He was taken to the hospital.

The russian army also attacked Tomyna Balka in the Kherson Oblast. A man who came under fire in his yard died.

A man was injured in Kherson due to shelling by the russian army. He was outside during the attack. Doctors provide him with medical care.

In the Kherson Oblast, in the village of Maksym Horky, a tractor driver was blown up by a russian mine. As a result of the detonation of the ammunition, he received shrapnel injuries to his hands, legs and burns. The man died on the way to the hospital. It also became known about one more person injured as a result of a mine detonation.

The mayor of Kherson Ihor Kolykhaiev has been in russian captivity for over a year. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, he has not left the city and continued his activities. He was captured in June last year. The International Committee of the Red Cross has confirmed the status of the captured Kherson Mayor Igor Kolyhaiev.

In the temporarily occupied lands of the Kherson Oblast, the fake “Military Commissariat” developed a mobilization plan and began issuing summonses to reserve officers.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On the night of September 17, the russian army shelled the Pokrovsk community of the Nikopol Raion of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. There are no dead or injured.

Over the Oblast at night, one of the cruise missiles that russia launched over Ukraine from the Tu-95ms, which took off from the “Olenia” airfield, was shot down.

Kirovohrad Oblast

The traditional charity evening “Hearts Burnt by War” was held in the Oleksandriyske Theater, dedicated to the memory of the fallen countryman Oleksandr Kozenko. During the charity concert, 14,500 hryvnias were collected, which will be transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A social dormitory for forced migrants was opened in Kropyvnytskyi. It was arranged in the premises of the former station of young technicians. With the funds of the city budget, all the conditions for a comfortable stay were created there.

In Kropyvnytskyi, 311 residents of Kropyvnytskyi participated in the “Save the life of a defender” donation campaign, which was organized for the City Day. In order to receive all those willing to help the Ukrainian military, the regional blood transfusion station worked on an extended schedule.

Poltava Oblast

A free laundry for internally displaced persons has been operating in Poltava for a year. To use the service, people only need a certificate of an internally displaced person.

Poltava volunteers sew pillows – “bones” for wounded soldiers. The request for them was received in the spring. Pillows are needed in the hospital, where defenders, bedridden for several months after being wounded, put them under their arms and legs to ease their condition.

Cherkasy Oblast

An increased missile threat was announced in the Cherkasy Oblast in the morning. According to the Air Force, the cruise missiles were headed for Uman. However, the tragedy was avoided.

The divers-sappers from Chercasy clean the Dnipro from explosive objects. In particular, they examine the bottom of the water area of the river in the Kyiv Oblast.

In Cherkasy, the internally displaced people received food from volunteers. Over 600 sets were distributed within two hours.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

A night vision device was purchased through the joint efforts of the Kamianets-Podilskyi community. It was handed over to a compatriot soldier who protects the borders of Ukraine as part of the 36th separate rifle battalion of the 3rd company.

More than 1,800 children from the frontline and de-occupied territories underwent psychological and medical rehabilitation in Kamianets-Podilskyi. They recovered during the summer, and at the beginning of autumn new groups began to gather. Children from Chornobaivka were the first to arrive. The little Ukrainians will be in a safe place for four weeks.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Chernivtsi bomb technicians have returned from the hot spot in the Donetsk Oblast: they have been working in the de-occupied territories for almost 2 years.

Andrii Sihitov, director of the Chernivtsi Philosophical and Legal Lyceum No. 2, was awarded a certificate from Valerii Zaluzhnyi for his active civic stance, patriotism and assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleg Reveha is a soldier of the Armed Forces who is currently defending Ukraine from the russian aggressor. Since 2015, he has served in the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) and JFO (Joint Forces Operation), so he knows well how important a full rest is for soldiers. For this purpose, the man built the “Hutsula Dome” – a rehabilitation center for military personnel in the mountains of Bukovyna.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

Mykhailo Vaskul, a combat medic from the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, received the Golden Cross medal from Valerii Zaluzhnyi. On June 12, 2023, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine signed the order awarding this award.

Ternopil Oblast

Zakarpattia Oblast

The second round of consultations between Ukraine and Hungary on education of representatives of national communities is underway in Uzhhorod.

Zakarpattia Oblast Military Administration presented to the Ministry of Health a regional project for the development of evidence-based medicine within the hospital district.
