Ukraine in brief:

The 49th day of the heroic defense of the Ukrainian people against the russian military invasion continues.

The enemy continues to launch the systematic missile and bomb strikes on infrastructure in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

In the north, enemy units did not take active action. The russian occupiers are moving individual units in certain directions.

The partial blockade of Kharkiv by the enemy continues. Due to the impossibility of capturing it, the armed forces of russia continue to destroy the city’s infrastructure with artillery.

According to available information, in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson oblasts that the enemy is ready for offensive action. The russians continue to focus their efforts on capturing parts of Mariupol and launching airstrikes. The enemy is trying to carry out assault operations in Severodonetsk, Rubizhne, and Popasna.

In Mykolaiv Oblast, the enemy carries out air surveillance to identify divisions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The enemy continues illegal actions against the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territories. The russians are checking documents, personal belongings, and mobile phones. The occupiers are also carrying out forced inspections of apartments and homes.

In some occupied territories of Kharkiv Oblast, the enemy has disrupted the cellular network. The russian occupiers exert an aggressive informational and psychological influence on the population.

Northern oblasts

Kyiv

In recent days, the situation in Kyiv has stabilized. The russian occupiers are not attacking the capital and Kyiv Oblast from the air, and there are no street fights. But the Ukrainian government does not deny the possibility of another russian attack. The presidents of Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, and Estonia arrived in Kyiv today.

Kyiv Oblast

In Kyiv Oblast, more and more evidence of the genocide of the Ukrainian people by the russian army is being uncovered. In the morning in Bucha, police began exhuming the second part of the burial of victims of massacres committed by the russian military. According to the police, there are 65 innocent victims in the mass grave. They were shot, burned, and crushed by machinery.

In the village of Korolivtsi, service members of the National Guard of Ukraine discovered a place where russian occupation forces had set up an ammunition depot. About 100 boxes of 125-caliber shells were found there.

In Chornobyl, the russian military lived in houses abandoned in 1986 and ate in the infected areas.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Chernihiv Oblast

The situation in the Oblast is stable. Demining of the territory continues: 885 explosive devices were found per day.

Sumy Oblast

The situation in the Oblast is stable. Local authorities are working with the military to strengthen the Oblast. During the invasion of Sumy Oblast, russian troops caused damage to more than 10 billion hryvnias.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are defending Kharkiv and the Oblast. There are successes of the Ukrainian army in the Rohan and Dergachiv directions. Fierce fighting continues in the Izium direction, where the AFU are making every effort to prevent the enemy from passing to Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Russians continue to terrorize civilians. Over the past 24 hours, the occupying forces have struck approximately 53 artillery and MLRS strikes. As a result of the occupiers’ shelling, 22 civilians were injured, including three children. Seven people died.

The occupiers continue to shell residential areas in the North Saltivka, the 602nd micro-district, and the village of Zhukovsky. A large-scale fire broke out in the area of Kharkiv Tractor Plant today; locals report a column of black smoke.

Donetsk Oblast

The occupiers wounded seven people in a rocket attack on the village of Cherkaske. The mobilized residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts are being thrown into the forefront by the russians as “cannon fodder” without training and proper equipment. The death of the musician of the Donetsk Philharmonic, Mykola Zvyagintsev, who was thrown to fight in Mariupol without appropriate exercise, is reported.

Kramatorsk

The situation in the community remains alarming. No action by russian troops has been recorded. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the Territorial Defense Forces are preparing to meet the enemy. Utilities operate on a full-time basis. The evacuation of civilians continues. Volunteers help the AFU and Territorial Defense Forces.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsky Raion

The regrouping and relocation of russian troops to the areas of concentration on the line of demarcation of the Pokrovsky Raion in the Donetsk direction continued. The military of the AFU repulsed the enemy. Territorial Defense Forces patrol the community. The police department organized measures to check the documents of the population. It is almost impossible to withdraw cash in frontline Avdiivka. ATMs do not work due to a lack of internet. Residents of the city go to Pokrovsk for cash.

There are only five shops in Pokrovsk. Russian troops occupy the city. There is constant shelling. The AFU, together with the Territorial Defense Forces, maintains the defense. The Donetsk-Volnovakha bus was launched today. People are in harsh conditions; they have received “humanitarian aid” from russia – food and chemicals. One of the largest stone mining companies has been shut down. A similar story was with the company in Dokuchaevsk, and its russians simply cut it into scrap metal. As a consequence of unemployment in three communities.

Mariupol

According to preliminary estimates, up to 22000 people died in the blocked Mariupol. The Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko reported about it. There are also 13 russian mobile crematoria in the city to clean the streets of the dead bodies. The occupiers are trying to identify and destroy potential witnesses.

Currently, 33.5 thousand people from Mariupol are known to have been illegally deported by the occupiers to russia or the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR). The russian authorities decided to retrain Ukrainian children who speak only Ukrainian to russian. It is a fact of the purposeful destruction of the Ukrainian people. In Mariupol, Ukrainian Marines managed to break out of the enemy’s encirclement and join the Azov Regiment.

Luhansk Oblast

Due to yesterday’s shelling by the russians in Rubizhne, a residential neighborhood burned down. Ukrainian rescuers rescued ten people from the flames. A building of a medical institution was on fire in Severodonetsk.

Despite constant shelling, Ukrainian authorities are trying to evacuate civilians from the war zone. 15000 families from three settlements are back with electricity thanks to the victories of Ukrainian public utilities. Currently, there are 33 settlements without electricity. A total of 131152 consumers were cut off from electricity. Without gas – 38 settlements (130071 subscribers).

Southern oblasts

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Today, there is a high threat of the russian occupiers using missile bombing of military and civilian infrastructure throughout the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. There is also a possibility of intensifying the enemy’s actions to advance to the city of Zaporizhzhia.

In the Polohy direction, the enemy is trying to hold the occupied territory, conduct air reconnaissance with uncrewed aerial vehicles, and fire at the Ukrainian military and the local population from multiple rocket launchers. Last night, as a result of shelling, residential buildings in the town of Orikhiv and the village of Novoyakovlivka were damaged again. Information on the number of houses and damage is being clarified. Criminal proceedings were instituted yesterday, on April 12th, over the fact that the russian military violated the laws and customs of war, namely the shelling of the village of Novoyakovlivka by phosphorous bombs.

In Dniprorudny, the russian occupiers occupied a local police station, based on which an alternative “militia” was opened in the city. Similar processes are trying to reproduce in the village of Yakymivka.

In Melitopol, the occupying forces withdrew pension funds. Due to now, the payment of pensions and subsidies for April in the temporarily occupied territory is in question. In addition, there are many reports of theft by cars and even minibusses.

The russian military again blocked the columns of evacuation vehicles that were to take people to Zaporizhzhia, particularly from Berdyansk, Tokmak, and Energodar. The blockade is taking place in the same city – at the russian checkpoint in Vasylivka. Therefore, the “green corridors” for today, April 13th, were not planned and open.

800 bulletproof vests and 3000 Kevlar helmets made in Italy, France, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Germany, Japan, and the United States were handed over to service members in the Zaporizhia Oblast and the Zaporizhia Territorial Defense Forces Battalion.

Kherson Oblast

Skadovsk

Skadovsk and Kherson Oblast remain occupied. The russian military continues to check citizens at checkpoints and in the city. Territorial Defense Forces continue to patrol towns and villages.

Local authorities work remotely. The mayor said that the city and the community continue to operate a public patrol, ensuring law and order, monitoring curfew, and preventing crime. People stick together, but the panic begins to gain momentum. Many people, especially young people, are leaving the city and the country.

People volunteer and help as much as they can. PrivatBank has started working, and people can get a little cash and conduct card transactions. Pharmacies are still closed. Food is imported in limited quantities and, therefore, not enough for everyone. There is a delay with social benefits, and they promise to make all payments by the end of the week.

Odesa Oblast

The threat of missile attacks remains quite likely. However, the situation in the Oblast is under control. The military defends the territory of the Oblast. Territorial Defense Forces protect the Oblast and strengthens positions. People are active and join volunteer movements.

Central oblasts

According to Ukrzaliznytsia chief Oleksandr Kamyshin, during nighttime, the russian military fired on a railway station in central Ukraine. Passengers and railway workers were not injured. 17 passenger trains changed their routes and schedules. The exact location of the shelling was not reported for security reasons.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have full control of the entrances to Oblast. As of April 13th, rescuers found and destroyed 403 explosive devices in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Five russian citizens were detained on the territory of the Yurivka community. One man had a carbine and 74 rounds of ammunition. They may be involved in sabotage.

At the initiative of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast prosecutors, 2.5 million hryvnias were transferred to a special account of the AFU. These were bail amounts received as a result of criminal proceedings. In addition to the money, the regional prosecutor’s office donated 52 cars, a backhoe loader, and 130 tons of timber, fuel, and other logistics seized during the pre-trial investigation into criminal proceedings in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Volunteers from the Dnipro Charitable Foundation “International Center for Support of Ukraine” make bulletproof vests with protection classes III and IV for the AFU soldiers. Their quality is checked at military training grounds. Initially, they bought the metal at their own expense. Now other volunteers and people send money to help.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast received 20 tons of humanitarian aid from the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Council for IDPs. The cargo contains food, medicine, hygiene products, household chemicals, and baby food.

Kirovohrad Oblast

The situation in Oblast is calm. There were no air-raid warnings. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) protect the borders of Oblast and military facilities. The Territorial Defense Forces stand guard at checkpoints and patrol the city with the police. Kirovohrad Oblast continues to host migrants from other oblasts every day.

Almost a thousand Oblast residents sheltered 3,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in March. More than 40000 migrants have stayed in Oblast. More than 32000 people have asked for detailed information.

Andriy Raikovych, the head of the Kirovohrad Oblast Military Administration, asked local authorities to speed up the deployment of basic social housing for IDPs. The international organization of emergency medical care, «Medecins Sans Frontiers»/«Doctors Without Borders,» have begun its work in Oblast.

Kropyvnytskyi

A citywide Clean Day will take place in Kropyvnytskyi with the participation of all interested residents of the city. Volunteers of the Oblast Art Museum sent more than three hundred talismans of an angel to the defenders.

Psychologists of the Pryiutivka community communal establishments help children and adults. Kropyvnytskyi is preparing to participate in the State Housing Construction Program for migrants. The City Council has already decided on three territories for construction.

In Kropyvnytskyi, all local Children and Youth Sports Schools have resumed their training and educational processes since April, while other Children and Youth Clubs are still partially operational. It was announced on April 12th by the head of the Department of Youth and Sports of Kropyvnytskyi City Council, Vyacheslav Hurskyi.

Poltava Oblast

In Poltava Oblast, law enforcement officers, together with the Cossack organization members (Sirozhupannyky), stand guard at the checkpoint.

Law enforcement officers are checking 14 people for their involvement in cooperation with the enemy. A total of 1075 vehicles and 2089 suspects were inspected last night. Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Hutzayt visited Oblast. A meeting was organized with Oblast coaches and students in the newly built sports complex “Aquarena”.

The situation in Poltava is quiet. There was one air-raid warning. The mayor, Oleksandr Mamai, noted that he and his family are staying in Poltava and will not leave it. Poltava hosts IDPs and provides them with jobs. Experienced doctors and qualified nurses have already started their work. Internally displaced medical staff work in almost all hospitals in the city. In total, nine new doctors and ten nurses work in the community.

“Доброго вечора, ми з України” (“Good evening, we are from Ukraine”) author, Artem Tkachenko, known as DJ PROBASS, created a help center for migrants in Kremenchuk and volunteers in his free time. In Kremenchuk, there is a Recovery Center for families who fled the war. Teachers, students, and graduates of “Polit” Lyceum organize master classes, language intensives, sports classes, and competitions for IDPs at the local pedagogical college.

Vinnytsia Oblast

Zhmerynka

Territorial Defense Forces patrol the city and checkpoints. Local authorities announced a change in the bus schedule. People react to the events in the country calmly, and the situation is stable. The infrastructure is working, and so is the volunteer corps. Residents are actively involved in the volunteer movement and help the military and people in need.

Western oblasts

Lviv Oblast 

Over the past day, an air-raid warning went off once in Oblast. The Head of the Lviv Oblast Administration said that the Oblast farmers received 95 tons of seed potatoes from France, and Lviv Oblast became the first Oblast of Ukraine to receive such humanitarian aid.

Today in Lviv, the construction of the second modular town for IDPs has started. It is to consist of 120 houses.

In Lviv Oblast, two more Orthodox communities are leaving the moscow patriarchate. It’s the parish of the Holy Prophet Elijah Church in Truskavets and the village of Pidmonastyrok, Drohobych Raion.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

At the regular session of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, the deputies decided to rename the streets named after russian personalities. The list includes more than two dozen streets and alleys. True, there were no public hearings and discussions on this issue. The deputies also voted for an appeal to the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to terminate the activities of the russian Orthodox Church of the moscow patriarchate in Ukraine.

In the Oblast, they daily measure the radiation background and conduct tests on drinking water safety. Currently, all indicators are normal.

Ivano-Frankivsk continues to receive IDPs, and many people are currently coming from the Donetsk Oblast. While some of the IDPs, such as residents of Kyiv, started to return home. Volunteers work as usual.

Rivne Oblast

Rivne

There were no air raid alerts during the day. The situation is quiet. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) patrol the border with belarus. The Territorial Defense Forces fighters patrol the streets and keep watch at checkpoints.

In Rivne, a man who earlier had been detained by patrol officers with russian documents and explosives was notified of suspicion. It was reported by the press service of the patrol police of the Rivne Oblast. They clarified that he could not explain what he was doing in the city during the check procedure and could not pronounce or explain the meaning of the Ukrainian word “palianytsia”.

The Oblast Defense Council granted six more permits for blasting in the quarries of Rivne Oblast. Citizens living in the settlements where such licenses were granted asked not to be frightened when they hear explosions.

15 enterprises from the affected oblasts moved to the Rivne Oblast. More than 400 boarding wards from the Kyiv and Donetsk oblasts were evacuated to the Rivne Oblast. These are people who used to stay in social institutions around the clock. In particular, they include the evacuated residents of geriatric boarding houses, nursing homes for persons with disabilities, psycho-neurological boarding houses, etc. Rivne citizens are united, and they provide the volunteer centers with financial and non-financial assistance.

Zdovbytsia community

The general situation here is quiet. There was one air-raid alert during the last day. The AFU control the borders with belarus. The Territorial Defense Forces fighters patrol the streets and keep watch at checkpoints. Representatives of the local authorities work as normal and help IDPs financially. The residents weave nets at the school. With the support of residents, volunteers purchase tactical equipment for the AFU in the Czech Republic.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Khmelnytskyi

The situation in the city and oblast is under control. During the full-scale offensive of the russian federation in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast, 311 thousand IDPs arrived here, of which almost 139 thousand people were given temporary accommodation in the oblast. 57 thousand IDPs have registered with the social security authorities of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast to receive financial assistance for living.

In the Khmelnytskyi Oblast, 32 medical workers from among the IDPs found a job. In particular, the team of surgeons of the Oblast was strengthened by specialists from the capital, specifically from the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology and the Bogomolets National Medical University.

The City Center for Social Services for Families, Children, and Youth provides psychological support to little ones. Classes started three weeks ago. And during this time, they were visited by more than a hundred young Khmelnytskyi residents and IDPs. They talk to children on various topics, play games, and give them the opportunity to get rid of fears and negative emotions.

Free Ukrainian language courses continue to be held in Khmelnytskyi. Classroom lessons take place twice a week at Lyceum №17. Both Khmelnytskyi residents and IDPs can visit them. The other day, humanitarian aid was dispatched from Khmelnytskyi to one of the military units in Vyshhorod, Kyiv Oblast. The relief supplies have already been delivered.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

The Territorial Defense Forces units guard the strategic facilities of the community. The mayor held a meeting to support relocated businesses and ensure the interaction of all respective structures in this matter.

The city continues to receive humanitarian aid shipments, prepare them for transfers to the most in need areas, and accommodate IDPs and evacuees. Yesterday, the community officially sheltered 172 people. Since February 24th, the total number of such people has reached 21718.

The city provides two meals a day to IDPs who have officially registered in the community as IDPs. In total, the chefs cooked 62283 servings. Clothes and bed linen are repaired and washed for IDPs. During the war period, more than 3.5 tons of personal clothing of IDPs and 2.7 tons of bed linen were washed.

Since March 17th, pedagogical teams of out-of-school institutions have been working with the children of IDPs every day. To date, more than 40 events have been held. They were attended by more than 400 school students of all ages.

Every Tuesday and Thursday, the city holds hours of communication in Ukrainian for adults and children, “With Ukraine in the heart”. So far, five meetings have been held for IDPs. 74 adults and 34 children showed interest. As part of the action “Ukrainian books for Ukrainian children”, launched by the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting together with the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture, the internally displaced children living in this community received 233 copies of educational and fiction literature.

Kamianets-Podilskyi residents planted about a hundred oak and rowan saplings in the Euromaidan Heroes Park at the initiative of the Council of the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Veterans Organization. Veterans, city officials, volunteers, students, and schoolchildren joined the planting of trees. The oldest participant was 98 years old, and the youngest was 14.

Chernivtsi Oblast (Bukovyna)

The situation in the Oblast is quiet and under control. At the same time, Bukovynians are urged not to neglect measures to blackout their houses.

The Chernivtsi Oblast Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support invites officers of the reserve trained in topography and geodesy to join one of the Oblast military units.

In Chernivtsi, entrepreneurs donated four jeeps, a thermal imager, and medicines to the AFU. 50 enterprises from different regions have already moved to the Chernivtsi Oblast. Another 20 are in the process of relocation. Almost 70 Chernivtsi residents who sheltered IDPs will receive compensation for utilities.

In Chernivtsi, on the Soborna Square, a large humanitarian base has been launched, taken care of by benefactors from the Remar S.O.S organization. Juvenile police officers from Bukovyna shipped relief supplies to children from the Chernihiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

Zakarpattia Oblast

Today in Uzhhorod, they said goodbye to junior sergeant Valentyn Derevenskyi who was killed in action defending Ukraine. About 200 IDPs found jobs in the Zakarpattia Oblast.

The Uzhhorod Humanitarian Center has organized an aid distribution point near the Regional Music and Drama Theater on the Kyiv Embankment. Here, IDPs can get free clothes and toys.
