Ukraine in brief:

The 50th day of the heroic defense of the Ukrainian people against the russian military invasion continues.

The enemy is trying to complete preparations for an offensive operation in the Eastern Operational Zone. It launches missile and bomb attacks on infrastructure facilities and residential areas of cities and villages of Ukraine.

The situation in the Volyn and Polissia areas has not changed significantly. The threat of missile strikes from the territory of belarus on various facilities of Ukraine remains.

In Chernihiv Oblast, russian occupation troops are regrouping units with their further concentration in the areas bordering Ukraine. Troops are being moved from the bryansk and kursk oblasts to the belgorod and voronezh oblasts of russia.

In Kharkiv Oblast, the invaders are conducting reconnaissance of possible attack directions, building up the system of intelligence and medical support. Stocks are being replenished. Partial blockade and shelling of the city of Kharkiv continue.

In belgorod, russia, the enemy has deployed a unit of information and psychological operations of the armed forces of russia to intensify measures of psychological pressure on the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and the civilian population of Kharkiv Oblast. The goal is demoralization and the end of resistance.

The invaders continue to prepare for active operations in the areas of Slovyansk and Barvinkove. In Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, russian occupation troops continue to conduct offensives in some sectors with the support of aviation and artillery. The main efforts are focused on establishing control over the settlements of Popasna, Rubizhne, Severodonetsk, and Slovyansk.

Russian occupation troops attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Rubizhne, Novotoshkivske, and Maryinka. They failed. The enemy continued to inflict airstrikes on Mariupol.

In Mykolaiv Oblast, the situation has not changed significantly.

Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Ukrainian intelligence has received documents confirming russia’s intentions to seize Kyiv during the so-called “exercises”. The “Center” grouping of the russian troops, which operated in the Chernihiv and Sumy areas, had orders to capture the left bank of the capital city. The Defense Ministry of Ukraine said it was too early to return to Kyiv. Until now, there is a threat of russian missile strikes throughout Ukraine.

Due to potential danger, the Kyiv-Chop highway of national importance was closed for three days.

Kyiv Oblast

Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan visited Bucha. He stated that the crimes committed in the city fall under the court’s jurisdiction. The police of the Kyiv Oblast, together with the French gendarmes, are already recording the war crimes of russia.

In Borodyanka, destroyed by the russian occupiers, rescuers and volunteers demined the territory and dismantled the debris. In particular, 8 destroyed high-rise buildings will have to be dismantled.

Zhytomyr Oblast

There was an air alarm. Rescuers continue demining and destruction of explosive munitions. It is happening in villages that were occupied by russian troops. Yesterday in the Zhytomyr Oblast, patrol officers detained suspects at a checkpoint.

Chernihiv Oblast

Ukrainian police found an abandoned warehouse of occupiers’ ammunition in one of the villages of Nizhyn Raion.

A tractor exploded on a russian mine in Nova Basan. The driver died on the spot. According to police, the man was taking out garbage with a tractor, and when he was returning to the village through a field, he came across a site mined by the occupiers and ran into an anti-tank mine.

Russian troops shelled the outskirts of Hrodna on April 14th at about 2 p.m.

Sumy Oblast

Reconstruction works are underway in settlements that have been under occupation for a long time. The russians destroyed Trostyanets by 20-30%. The community lacks communal equipment, as the occupiers shot or stole it.

The state awarded the Okhtyrka Territorial Defense Forces for heroic resistance to the russian invasion.

Eastern oblasts 

Kharkiv Oblast

A few days ago, a group of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine blew up a bridge with enemy vehicles heading for Izyum.

The occupiers continue to fire on residential areas of Kharkiv, where there is no military infrastructure. These are brutal, deliberate attacks on civilians. Intense artillery strikes were recorded in Pivnichna Saltivka, 602nd micro-district, Kharkiv Tractor Plant, Zhukovsky village. Yesterday, four civilians were killed and ten wounded in the attacks.

Surveillance cameras recorded direct hits by enemy artillery shells in a park in Kharkiv.

Donetsk Oblast

Kramatorsk

The situation in the city remains alarming. There was an air raid during the day. The occupiers’ rocket hit the shop of one of the enterprises. No one was injured. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the Territorial Defense Forces are preparing to meet the enemy.

As of today, the evacuation by rail from Sloviansk has been suspended. The population of Kramatorsk is invited to evacuate by other means of transport. The city organized a daily evacuation bus. Volunteers continue to work. There is a problem with medicines in the city. Despite the operation of pharmacies, it is complicated to get the necessary drugs.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsky Raion

The enemy continues to fight in the area of ​​Kurakhovo and Avdiivka without success. The occupiers continue to press along the entire front line. In the morning, three airstrikes were inflicted on the village of Velyka Novosilka, and there were wounded. The AFU repel the enemy. Representatives of the Territorial Defense Forces and the police are on duty. Utility companies of Pokrovska community work in a regular mode.

There were no reports of emergencies on the territory of Pokrovska community. Pokrovsk has received more than 9000 food kits, distributed to socially vulnerable groups.

Mariupol

Southern oblasts

Zaporizhzhya Oblast

The russian invaders continue dealing with systematic missile and bomb strikes against infrastructural facilities and carrying out air surveillance to find Zaporizhzhya Oblast Defence Force units. They also try launching assaults at some population centers of the Polohy Raion.

The russian military subjected Huliaypole to yet another shelling in the previous 24 h. The shelling resulted in a comprehensive school being ruined. No casualties or wounded were reported.

Some 70 russian servicemen died of knife or gunshot wounds while at night patrols in Melitopol from March 20th through April 12th. It has been the result of the Ukrainian resistance movement’s activities in the city, the Main Intelligence Department reports. Subsequently, the invaders had to enhance control at their checkpoints.

State Emergency Service blast technicians reported a four-primer munition from a Grad rocket safely destroyed in the village of Novoyakivlivka and an artillery shell rendered harmless in the village of Hryhorivka. The Ukrainian military downed Orlan-10, a russian UAV, on a reconnaissance mission in one of the directions of the Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

The invaders continue their illegal actions against civilians on temporarily occupied territories launching checks of ID, personal belongings, and cell phones. They also conduct forced searches at premises and confiscate and steal vehicles.

The russian military in Enerhodar calls on residents to voluntarily surrender arms. In Berdiansk, the director of a local geriatric boarding house was abducted. The russian invaders instilled an artificial humanitarian disaster on temporarily occupied territories preventing the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid. They also tried establishing alternative government bodies: this time, they attempted nominating an ‘acting mayor’ of the town of Chernihivka.

Odesa Oblast

Russian occupation troops have been launching area reconnaissance from the sea. The local government says the situation in the Oblast is controllable.

Moskva Cruiser, the flagship of russia’s black sea fleet, was hit by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) yesterday. The strike reduced by 16 the number of cruise missiles at the disposal of the russian black sea fleet. There are nine russian guided missile ships in the Black Sea to date.

The State Investigation Bureau has detained the leader of the Opposition Block for Life Party faction in the Mariupol City Council in Odesa. According to the investigators, he has been promoting an anti-Ukrainian information campaign supporting russia. Five plaques with names of the five russian sister cities have been dismantled on Dumska Square. They will be replaced with names of the cities actively assisting Odesa during wartime.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The Oblast air defense downed two russian military planes over Kharkiv Oblast. The night and the day have been calm in the Oblast.

A traitor who had collaborated with the enemy in the Kyiv Oblast and tortured people in Bucha was detained in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. He was staying in Kryvyi Rih. Also, two pro-russian propagandists have been detained by police in Dnipro. According to Deputy City Mayor of Dnipro Mykhailo Lysenko, there are 1.5 thousand bodies of russian soldiers in the municipal morgues. There are also bodies of servicemen from the separatist ‘republics’.

Oblast health care professionals have discharged 33 injured during the missile attack on the Kramatorsk railroad station. 17 individuals have been transferred for further treatment to western Oblasts. 47 more wounded, among them gravely wounded children, are still being treated. One of the injured has died.

Currently, the Oblast plays host to 62 473 internally displaced persons (IDPs), of them almost 24 thousand women, 9 thousand men, 16.5 thousand children, and more than 12 thousand low-mobility group representatives and 60+ individuals. Some 4358 school children who came to the Oblast with their parents are already studying at a distance mode at local schools.

On 14 April, Andriy Bedniakov, the Orel and Reshka TV Show anchor, brought to Dnipro humanitarian aid for the “Good Morning, We’re from Mariupol” Volunteer Hub. Bedniakov hails from Mariupol and could not give the cold shoulder to his compatriots in distress. The hostilities in that city had already taken the life of his mother. Kirovohrad Oblast

There was a threat of missile strike, and air sirens were wailing. The AFU defend the Oblast limits and military facilities. The Territorial Defence Forces operate the checkpoints and patrol the city jointly with the police.

Some 7 thousand have registered with the Kirovohrad Oblast Military Administration’s Education and Science Department to sit tests for school graduates willing to enroll in universities. Among those registered are school graduates from the current and previous years and IDPs.

The Regional Centre for Service Development, a communal enterprise with the Kirovohrad Oblast Council, inaugurated an IDPs’ employment center. The center’s staff professionals will ensure direct communication with officials and employers and look for education programs for those willing to master new skills.

The MIA’s Oblast Expert and Forensic Centre has arranged training for the locals in protection from hand grenade blasts, grenade launcher operation, and demonstrated available land mines types.

17 houses for IDPs have been outfitted in the villages of Hannivka and Serhiyivka of Petrivska community, Oleksandriya Raion. The housing for those forced out of their homes in war-torn oblasts has been provided temporarily basis by the village residents. The IDPs already live in 14 out of the 17 houses prepared for them.

Kropyvnytskyi

The city is peaceful. The situation is under control. Kropyvnytskyi is ready to accept companies from other oblasts of Ukraine. The Department for Economic Development of the Kropyvnytskyi City Council appealed to the heads of enterprises located where hostilities are currently taking place to move production facilities to Kropyvnytskyi.

The Museum of Arts conducts a master class on beadwork. The master class is free, but with the condition: one product will be given to the defenders of Ukraine.

Poltava Oblast

There was an air alarm. The situation in the Oblast is relatively calm. In Poltava, according to the decision of the Executive Committee of the Poltava City Council, a humanitarian headquarters for assistance to IDPs was established.

Police handed over a portable solar panel to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It can be a power generator for electronic devices or a light source in the field. Representatives of the Territorial Defense Forces donated 63 000 kilograms of fish illegally caught in Poltava Oblast to the AFU. Also, 3598 meters of fishing nets were confiscated and transferred to make camouflage nets.

In the Oblast, farmers have completed the sowing of early cereals. Almost 92 000 hectares were sown. The final stage is the sowing of sugar beets – nearly 90% of the plan. The sowing of sunflowers and corn has started.

The Oblast employs more than 60 internally displaced health workers from areas where hostilities continue. During the Easter holidays, residents of Poltava Oblast will be restricted from being in public places without an urgent need. The relevant order was signed by the head of the Poltava Oblast State Administration and the chairman of the Poltava Oblast Defense Council, Dmytro Lunin. It is dangerous for residents in wartime.

OnTaxi in Poltava launched a free taxi “Volunteer” for the professional needs of doctors, rescuers, Territorial Defense Forces and police officers, and representatives of volunteer organizations. Poltava volunteer association raises funds to meet the needs of defenders. Volunteers have already purchased 100 thermal imagers and 40 night vision devices. 12 thermal imagers were purchased thanks to donations made by Poltava residents on the Crowdfunding platform “Zmist”.

Western oblasts

Lviv Oblast

No air alarm was heard in the Oblast for a day. Today, April 13th, in Lviv and the Oblast, the newest heroes who died in the russian-Ukrainian war were paid their last respects. In Stryi and Lviv, relatives, friends, and the public last saw off Taras Bobanych (Hammer), the deceased commander of the 2nd Battalion of the Right Sector State Unitary Enterprise. Today, the Stryi community paid their last respects to Serhiy Tymchiy and Ivan Martych, Novoyavorivsk – to Oleksandr Hoshko, Zhovkva – to Oleksandr Tkachenko and Truskavets – to Vladyslav Zadyrak. The Novoyarychiv community paid tribute to Dmytro Yaremkiv and the Davydiv community – to Vitaliy Sorushev.

The Red Cross wants to create a medical hub in western Ukraine to provide medicine to those oblasts that need it. It was announced by the head of the relocation operations department at the International Committee of the Red Cross, Katie Atfield.

About a thousand children deprived of parental care have been sheltered in the Oblast. These children came from the war zone, from infants to high school age. They were resettled in 25 institutions of the Oblast. Due to the russian military aggression, the children were evacuated from Donetsk, Luhansk, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Sumy oblasts. Also, 12 family-type orphanages and six foster families moved to the Lviv Oblast from the combat zone.

Two large Ukrainian machine-building enterprises are moving to Lviv Oblast. Thus, Lviv Oblast became the first in Ukraine to relocate two giants of the machine-building industry at the same time. The Oblast plans to build an industrial park with no analogs in Ukraine. It’s the project Agro.Food.Tech Park – a center of the synergy of breakthrough technologies in the agro-food industry. It will specialize in processing agricultural products, developing new types of products, and their production.

The Lviv Oblast State Administration and territorial communities have started to form the base of the housing stock, which will be offered for ransom for the IDPs’ needs. These can be apartments and houses that are already built and habitable, as well as apartments and homes in the final stages of construction.

Drohobych

Today, April 14th, during the regular session, deputies of the Drohobych City Council unanimously supported the decision to carry out de-russification measures. Therefore, in the settlements of the Drohobych community, the names of streets should be changed, and the memorials and memorial plaques promoting russian culture should be dismantled.

Musicians of the Drohobych Music Vocational College, named after Vasyl Barvinsky, held an artistic charity event, during which they raised 33000 hryvnias for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). A performance-action “Salvation Dove” in memory of the victims of the russian-Ukrainian war took place in the central square of Drohobych today. Drohobych community remembers and honors its heroes, including 30-year-old Ruslan Siksoi, who died in a battle with a russian horde.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

8 500 people have already registered for shooting courses in the city. Among those who want to join are both city residents and IDPs. There are currently ten shooting ranges where people are taught the basics of shooting.

The city has Ukrainian language courses and first aid courses. Mayor Ruslan Marcinkiv announced that Ivano-Frankivsk is ready to accept more IDPs. The city already has about 33 000 officially registered IDPs and, in fact, 45 000 of them. Ivano-Frankivsk can still accommodate up to 100 000 people, involving schools and kindergartens.

Rivne Oblast

Rivne

There were no air-raid warnings during the day. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) soldiers patrol the border with belarus. The Territorial Defense Forces members patrol and stand guard at checkpoints.

Today, the Head of the Rivne Oblast Military Administration inspected the fortifications around Rivne. He issued an order to build them on March 24th.

Today in Rivne, the historical self-propelled artillery art installation was dismantled. Thus, there are no symbols of Soviet occupation in Rivne. Yesterday, the profile commission decided to dismantle this self-propelled artillery in the city.

In the town of Zdolbuniv, Rivne Raion, street artists completed the “Freedom for the Free” mural. Members of the local youth space made it. Street artists painted a girl with the Ukrainian flag in her hands on the 50-square-meter wall. According to the organizer of the art event Mykola Mokryk, the idea appeared in the first days of the full-scale russia invasion of Ukraine to support the people’s patriotic spirit.

Citizens are united. They help volunteer headquarters with money and not only. Volunteer headquarters work and transfer humanitarian aid to various cities in Ukraine. In one of the volunteer centers, people gather food kits for Chernihiv Oblast. Each kit consists of 11 food products that are purchased at public expense. 60% of them are Rivne goods.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Khmelnytskyi

Khmelnytskyi residents paid last respect to two Heroes. Dmytro Hereha died on March 13th during a rocket attack on the Yavoriv military training ground in Lviv Oblast. Since then, relatives have been waiting for the results of the DNA examination. During the evacuation of people from Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, policeman Yuriy Chabakh, who came from Khmelnytskyi, died.

The Khmelnytskyi City Territorial Center for Social Services continues to distribute food kits to community residents. Those who found themselves in difficult life circumstances are the first in the line. The kit includes cereals, oil, sugar, flour, canned food, condensed milk, and stew, bought by activists and social service members (with public money). In total, they plan to give away 12 000 kits.

Every day on the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Academic Puppet Theater premises, a team of researchers from the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Museum of Local Lore actively and creatively supports forcibly displaced children with origami master classes. Museologists say that the child’s harmonious development is impossible without working with paper, which promotes the development of compositional thinking, color perception, and the ability to stylize any shapes. As of today, there are many techniques to work with paper. Some of them were invented many centuries ago, others, already forgotten, have now got a second wind, and others have become popular recently. However, they all teach how to create beautiful things using only paper.

Kamyanets-Podilskyi

Territorial Defense Forces patrol the checkpoints. Yesterday, 92 IDPs arrived in the city. Most of them are from Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk oblasts. There are several families from Kharkiv. All of them were officially registered. There are no problems with their settlement at the moment. Every day about 3,5 thousand people in the city provide food.

Kamyanets-Podilskyi continues to receive humanitarian aid from sister cities and foreign partners, including Germany, Poland, and Czechia. Lithuania and Poland are ready to help in the future. Owing to their cargoes, volunteers make aid kits for the affected cities and provide clothes, hygiene products, and two meals a day for people in Kamyanets who fled the war.

Yesterday a cargo with food products, hygiene products, clothes, and medicines was sent from Kamyanets-Podilskyi to Chernihiv and Novhorod-Siverskyi. This humanitarian aid was provided by the German school “Waldorfschule Zorsum” and by the District Council of the Polish city of Nisko. Currently, the city forms a cargo to Zaporizhzhia and waits for help from the Czech city of Kutna-Hora.

Communal workers continue to work. They arrange flower beds, clean the streets, crush branches in the park, clean up residential areas and prepare the city for Easter.

Chernivtsi Oblast (Bukovyna)

There are no active hostilities in the territory of Oblast. Since the beginning of March, 17 trucks with russian license plates and 10 trucks with belarusian license plates have been confiscated in Bukovyna and will now serve the needs of the Ukrainian army.

The Head of the Chernivtsi Oblast State Administration gave an interview to the “Luxemburger Wort” newspaper: “If we do not hold Ukraine, putin will become so dominant that it will make the peaceful coexistence of European nations impossible in the coming decades. This threat reminds a serious disease in the body of Europe. It needs to be removed and, unfortunately, with the help of surgical instruments.”

In Chernivtsi Oblast, 74 000 IDPs, including 23 000 children, found refuge. More than a thousand migrants in Bukovyna have already testified to the prosecutor about russia’s atrocities. Benefactors from Germany brought equipment and medicines worth 100 000 euros to the Chernivtsi Oblast Hospital.

Zakarpatska Oblast

Uzhhorod

The situation in the city is calm. The Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Territorial Defense Forces are preparing to repel the enemy. The city’s kindergartens will start operating on Monday. People become more and more united.
