Ukraine in brief:

In the areas of the Green Valley and Kreminna, the enemy continues to consolidate its occupied positions, regroup and prepare for offensive operations. In the Mariupol direction, the enemy continued to launch airstrikes on Mariupol and blockade our units in the Azovstal area.
In the Zaporizhzhya direction, the occupiers carried out assault operations in the direction of the settlement of Zelene Pole, without success.
In the Mykolaiv area, around the settlement of Alexandrovka, the enemy carries out defence of the occupied positions. Conducts air reconnaissance. It is possible to carry out assault operations in order to reach the administrative borders of the Kherson oblast.

Northern oblasts

Kyiv

There was an air alarm in Kyiv.
Kyiv City State Administration reported 815 Kyiv shelters connected to the Internet.
Today in the Kyiv City Hall together with a delegation of European parliamentarians and senators, scientists and public figures of Europe opened the European Working Place – European Working Place “We Europe” and raised the flag of the European Union on Khreshchatyk. The European House should become a place for meetings and discussions that will promote Ukraine’s European integration.
In the capital, public transport is still limited. The work of the subway continued. At the same time, the mayor asks Kyivites to stay in a safe place and not return to Kyiv yet.
The Kyiv office of the Active Community conducted an online training for journalists and activists from different oblasts of Ukraine “How to interview citizens affected by the war.” The experience was shared by Tetyana Troshchynska, Editor-in-Chief, Public Radio presenter, and Oleksandra Hlizhynska, Coach, NLP Master, Founder of Active Community. In addition, activists handed over medicines to the Odesa oblast and the necessary equipment to the military.

Kyiv oblast

The bodies of 1,084 victims were found in the Kyiv oblast, of which more than 300 have not yet been identified. According to Kyiv Oblast police, most of them were killed by firearms.
Yesterday, during the works, specialists neutralized 1,831 explosive objects, and for the whole time – 20,765 explosive objects.
Since April 3, when the Ukrainian military liberated Kyiv from Russian invaders, power engineers have been able to restore power to more than 83,000 families, 56 percent of all families left without electricity due to the fighting. Another 66,000 households in 109 settlements remain without electricity in the Kyiv oblast.

Zhytomyr Oblast

The situation in Oblast is calm. No air-raid warnings went off during the day.
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a soldier of one of the Zhytomyr Oblast military units, who is suspected of treason. The soldier gave russia information about fighter jets, the consequences of rocket attacks on the airfield, damage and repair of military equipment.
At weekends Masses will be held at churches before curfew, so there will be no Masses at night time.

Chernihiv Oblast

In Chernihiv, divers continue to search for an air bomb on the Desna river bottom near the road bridge. Last night, sapper divers had to blow up a part of the asphalt pavement that fell on the river bottom while bombardment. This was the only way to reach the bomb, located at 10 m depth. The rapid flow of the river, poor visibility and the remains of metal and concrete structures at the bottom obstruct the search.
In Chernihiv, at the Yatsevo Central Cemetery prosecutors recorded nearly 3,000 destroyed tombstones and an even bigger number of damaged tombstones caused by rocket fire from russian occupation troops.
Desnianskyi and Novozavodskyi District Courts of Chernihiv are ready to resume their work. Earlier, due to active hostilities, cases were heard in Kyiv and Cherkasy Oblasts, according to the order of the Chairman of the Supreme Court.

Sumy Oblast


During the day the situation in Oblast was under control, no air-raid warnings went off.
According to the order of the Head of the Oblast Military Administration, from April 26th public transport fares in the city will be resumed.
Ukrzaliznytsia resumed train travels from Kyiv to Nizhyn.
There will be no Masses at night time in Sumy Oblast at Easter.

Southern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

In Kharkiv Oblast, the biggest activity of the occupiers is observed in the Izyum-Barvinkove direction. Russia bombs Barvinkove. One resident died, and dozens of houses were destroyed.
At least five fires have broken out as a result of russian shelling in the northeastern part of Kharkiv. Apartment buildings are on fire, as well as shopping rows in one of the local markets. The shelling does not stop at night.
As a result of the shelling of the village of Korotych, warehouses were damaged, trucks burned, one person was killed and six people were injured.
The Ukrainian military destroyed three units of multiple rocket launch systems and the air defense system of russian occupation troops.
The mayor of Balakliia, Ivan Stolbovyi, was accused of treason in his absence.
The pseudo-head of the temporarily occupied Kozacha Lopan, who announced a “referendum” in the occupied territories of Kharkiv Oblast, is suspected of treason and collaboration.

Donetsk Oblast

Russian occupation troops used multiple rocket launch system “Urahan” and fired on the Oblast Dental Hospital in Lyman.

In Oleksandrivka, an administrative building was destroyed and a multi-storey building was damaged. According to preliminary information, there are no victims.
As a result of the massive shelling of Sloviansk, 20 houses, including towering buildings, private houses, a school, a shop and bus stops, were damaged. Cluster munitions were probably used for the shelling.

Kramatorsk

There was no enemy shelling in Kramatorsk. Neighboring cities of Druzhkivka and Sloviansk were under attack. 9 apartment buildings and 12 private houses were damaged.
The AFU and Territorial Defense Forces were preparing to meet the enemy. In general, the situation remains worrying, especially given the shelling of neighboring cities.
Today, volunteers who needed help a few days ago are now members of the volunteer hub. Young people actively joined the team. Thus, they formed a team of volunteers to distribute food kits on foot to people with disabilities in the city.
The mayor thanked all the volunteers for their dedicated work. Also, the order of distribution of humanitarian aid in municipal institutions of the city was published.
The Active Community AUI coordinator helped board the passengers on evacuation bus, which were organized for a large number of city residents. Also, during the day he coordinated the targeted delivery of food kits and the work of the humanitarian center as a whole.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the past 24 hours, the invaders have boosted combat activities along all the line of contact. The enemy continues artillery assault in the area of Maryinka. The shelling of Avdiyivka is relentless.
The AFU keeps fighting the enemy back. The russians have sustained considerable personnel losses (up to 250) and also lost up to ten rocket-launching and conventional artillery units.
Local TDF representatives are on duty. It has been relatively calm in the Pokrovsk community in the past 24 hours. The utility services continue operating as intended.
The Pokrovsk community received humanitarian aid from the UNICEF, survival kits and personal hygiene essentials for those hiding in shelters.
The Myrnohrad community received aid to set up bomb shelters at community social facilities and for social support of vulnerable groups of residents.
Humanitarian aid is distributed among local residents who have found themselves in dire circumstances in the town of Selydove, Pokrovsk Raion.
The local government will arrange for targeted aid delivery for the elderly and individuals with disabilities unable to personally attend humanitarian aid distribution centres.

Bakhmut

The situation is tense in the city.
A civilian has been wounded by the invaders in the past 24 hours in Bakhmut because of combat actions in the area.
The city mayor met with the elders from the starosta districts to discuss the situation inside the community.

Volnovakha

The city of Volnovakha is in dire shape: its residents are lingering in destroyed buildings without power, water or heat. The locals have neither money nor work. The individuals whose houses have remained intact are far and between; some have to engage in transportation services.
The AFU holds the lines. TDF servicemen repair vehicles and take part in military actions.
Shots and blasts have been heard in the Olhyn community.
Those who have remained on the occupied territory have no right to speak. Active Community, AUI Coordinator: ‘Early on, I could not quite grasp the dry ‘We’re fine’ from my acquaintances. Only later a girl who managed to break free from the occupied Mangush township would explain: the invaders were going door to door with searches and could snap check mobile phones any time. She witnessed cars with children trying to escape being blown: the convoy they tried to use to leave the area was shot away leaving two dead and multiple wounded. So she would go ‘okay’ until finally safe – nothing else could be reported until then’
The Active Community, AUI Coordinator used ACTED to provide humanitarian aid to 54 IDPs in a township in Trostyanets community, Vinnytsia Oblast, solved tons of logistical matters, individual plights etc. and made in-cash charity donations for the AFU and the victims.

Dobropillya

Shelling strikes dealt by the russian military have damaged an administrative building and wounded at least two civilians.

Mariupol

Mariupol and Azovstal remain under shelling and air strikes.
According to deputy Prime minister, Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk, the rf would not agree to humanitarian passage for 1,000 civilians holed up at Azovstal.

The invaders may have buried three to nine thousand Mariupol residents in Mangush township, Mariupol City Council informs. The assessment is based on the comparison with a satellite photo of the mass grave in Bucha where 70 bodies have been found: Maxar’s photos from 9 April show the mass grave area in Mangush is 20 times larger. The invaders dug up trenches and filled them with bodies on a daily basis throughout April. Sources in the city council have it bodies in such graves are being stacked in several layers.

Luhansk Oblast

Russian troops have taken out a high-voltage power line in Severodonetsk leaving the area without power, Luhansk Oblast Military Administration Chair informs.
Emergency medical aid centres have been damaged by enemy fire: a direct hit to garages and centre area in Severodonetsk; a direct hit to the Verkhnyanska centre (Lysychansk area); a direct hit to centre area in Karbonit centre. The Rubizhne and Popasna centres have been flattened for good. In spite of the lack of normal operating conditions, communication, power and water supply, the paramedics remain on duty tending to calls from Oblast area.

Southern Oblasts

Zaporizhzhya Oblast

The russians are strengthening the grouping of their troops on Zaporizhzhya direction. There are ongoing actions to ensure logistical support of the occupiers.
During the past day, the defense forces of Zaporizhzhya Oblast shot down three Russian helicopters: Mi-8, which is most used for landing paratroopers, and two K-52 “Alligator”. In addition, the Ukrainian military destroyed the “Orlan” drone.
The russian military continues to intimidate and rob civilians on the occupied territories. The case of stolen mobile phones and cars are reported. The occupiers are systematically looting the industrial facilities of Melitopol. They are taking not only equipment, but even copper wire.
There is a humanitarian catastrophe on the occupied territories. The russian occupiers are obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid and evacuation of civilians. Also, due to intense shelling by the russian military, it is impossible to restore electricity, gas and sometimes even water supply. Until now, it has not been possible to repair sewage treatment plants that receive sewage from the town of Vasylivka and the village of Stepnohirsk.
At 9 a.m. the AN-26 plane, presumable belonging to Ukraine, fell around Mykhaylivka. The aircraft was performing a technical flight. It is currently known that one person was killed and two were injured. The exact number of crew and the reasons for the fall are being clarified.

Zaporizhzhya

Yesterday, on April 21, the russian army launched two missile strikes on Zaporozhye. It became known that one of the missiles fell on the island of Khortytsya near the Preobrazhenskyy Bridge. Windows in the train and cars that were moving across the bridge at that time were blown away. In a little while the russians struck for the second time with a missile. As a result, the building of the sanatorium, which is also located on the island of Khortytsia, was damaged. Eight people were injured.
Today Zaporizhzhya received 5 medical ventilators from European partners. The equipment was transferred to the intensive care unit of the emergency hospital.
In Zaporizhzhya, food distribution centers have started distributing products from the regional humanitarian center. Both internally displaced persons and socially vulnerable residents of Zaporizhzhya can receive assistance. In 37 days, Zaporizhzhya received 106,686 IDPs from Mariupol, Melitopol, Berdyansk, Tokmak, and Energodar.

Berdyansk

Local entrepreneurs refuse to cooperate with the occupiers. Most of them will stop operations by April 30. In such a way responsible entrepreneurs try to avoid registration with the occupation administration. The occupiers are forcing this, warning that otherwise the property will be “nationalized”.
At the same time, the occupiers in the city issue special passes for cars with the stamp “Military Civil Administration, Russia, Zaporizhzhya Oblast, the city of Berdyansk.” Besides, the occupiers have established new rules for crossing the checkpoints. The russians have created a database of unwanted people who do not have the right to leave. It includes Ukrainian officials, as well as active citizens with pro-Ukrainian position.

Energodar

In Energodar, russian invaders have begun to compile lists of people who are supposed to receive 10 thousand rubles. In such a way, the occupiers are planning to obtain necessary passport data for the upcoming “pseudo-referendum”.

Kherson Oblast

The situation with the occupation is getting worse. During the shelling of the village of Nova Zorya by the russian military, two people were killed and another one was seriously injured.
Cars are not allowed in or out of Kherson. The number of checkpoints is increasing. The occupiers are getting violent, invading the homes of citizens.
Yesterday 94 people from Kherson Oblast managed to evacuate to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast by their own vehicles. Vladimir Marchuk, the head of Novovorontsove OTG of the Kherson Oblast, was released from captivity.
The russians did not let the humanitarian convoy (buses) from Vysokopillya. Despite the agreement, the occupiers sent it back, then fired on it and detained the head of the convoy.

Skadovsk

In Skadovsk, the number of enemy vehicles has increased. At the entrance to the city, one could hear the occupiers launching missiles at Kherson.
The mayor works remotely together with local authorities. Other institutions also work remotely.
People are worried about their lives, they are leaving the city en masse.
The situation is critical: there is a catastrophic lack of cash, medical supplies and food. Prices have risen significantly.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Last night, 3 missile strikes were fired on the railway infrastructure of the city of Novomoskovsk. The railway line and the contact line were completely destroyed. 5 people were hospitalized. Near the epicenter of the explosion, an explosive wave smashed the windows of apartment buildings.
The regional police detained 3 potential saboteurs and handed them over to the Security Service of Ukraine.
In Zelenodolsk it was loud from enemy shelling. There are many cluster shells on the territory. Sappers are now demining them. The city has part of the shops open, food is available. Utilities are working. Banking institutions and gas stations do not work.
The Regional Coordinator of AUI “Active Community” compiled a list of vacancies for people living in the cities of Nikopol, Marhanets and Pokrova.

Kirovohrad Oblast

Yesterday the air alarm ended positively – Ukrainian fighters defended the sky over Kirovohrad oblast from two enemy missiles. In this regard, the head of the Kirovohrad Oblast State Administration Andriy Raykovych said the following: «For the russian aggressor, there are no centuries-old Orthodox traditions. Maundy Thursday ended with the destruction of two enemy missiles by Ukrainian air defense. Thank you to the glorious Armed Forces of Ukraine for the fact that we are alive. Together we are strong».
Currently, agricultural enterprises in the Kirovohrad region need 41 workers in the professions “Tractor driver” and “Tractor machinist of agricultural (forestry) production”. Businesses expect to hire employees in the near future.
The village council of the Kompaniivka community of Kropyvnytskyi district urged local residents to join the discussion on renaming streets, alleys, squares, parks, bridges and other buildings located in the community in honor of fellow soldiers.

Kropyvnytskyi

One after another, air alarms were heard in the city – there was a threat of a missile strike.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine guarded the oblast’s borders and military facilities. The Territorial Defense was on duty at checkpoints and patrolled the city with police.
The regional coordinator of AUI “Active Community” provided IDPs with advice on obtaining IDP status in the Kropyvnytskyi Transparent Office, as well as information on available resources of employers of the oblast center and surrounding (Velykoseverynivka, Katerynivka, Pervozvanivka and Sokolivka community).

Poltava Oblast

Police found and detained 40 suspicious persons in the Poltava Oblast last night. They are tested for involvement in collaboration with the enemy.
The other day, the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down 3 missiles launched in the direction of Poltava. During the full-scale war in the Poltava Oblast, 14 buildings were destroyed by missile strikes. In total, the Poltava Oblast was subjected 8 times to aerial bombardment. This was announced by Dmytro Lunin, the head of the Poltava Oblast Military Administration, on April 21 at a briefing
The Poltava Oblast is preparing to build housing for IDPs. For this purpose, such cities of the Poltava Oblast as Poltava, Kremenchuk, Myrhorod, Lubny and, possibly, Horishni Plavni are considered. It is planned to build 3-4-storey houses, which effort will take 4-5 months this year. This will give 2000 new apartments, with an average area of 50 sq. m. each. They are also going to buy out about 500 apartments in the already built houses, Dmytro Lunin, the head of the Poltava Oblast Military Administration also said at the briefing.
In the Poltava Oblast, a database of industrial premises is being created for the enterprises being moved from combat zones. Ukrainian companies that are now in the zone of active hostilities will be assisted in finding production facilities, accommodating their employees and moving equipment to safe areas, including the Poltava Oblast. Today, the City Brass Band “Poltava” held a concert for IDPs and all comers at the Poltava Secondary School № 10 named after V. G. Korolenko.
Poltava residents donated the required 378 thousand hryvnias for a drone muffler for the Territorial Defense Forces. A total of 1042 donations were made on the crowdfunding platform.
Poltava volunteers delivered an ambulance to medical officers and special equipment to the military.
Another reanimobile from Germany was received by doctors of the 24th Brigade. Along with the vehicle, they delivered medicines from their foreign friends, and food products and belts from Poltava citizens. Volunteers also managed to deliver food and a quadcopter to a detachment of border guards, as well as food products, household items and a rangefinder to Poltava residents in the 30th Brigade.

Vinnytsia Oblast

Zhmerynka

The situation in the community is quiet. People have become accustomed to periodic air raid alerts.
The city authorities are ready to accept production facilities from the territories where the infrastructure has been destroyed as a result of hostilities. For additional information, please contact the Department of Economy of the Zhmerynka Community.
Critical infrastructure is functioning, and local businesses as well as volunteers are also working.

Western oblasts

Lviv Oblast

Another 716 IDPs found accommodation in the Oblast.
In April, the Lviv Oblast was among the top five oblasts in terms of the volume of loans attracted in the agricultural sector. Agrarians of the oblast have attracted loans in the amount of more than 516 million hryvnias. About a hundred farmers of the Lviv Oblast received humanitarian aid in the form of corn seeds. This will suffice them to sow more than 2.3 thousand hectares.
The Lviv Oblast Military Administration is working on possible options for providing housing for internally displaced persons.
Th Lviv Oblast received two ambulances from the Maltese Aid Service.
Easter cakes with blue and yellow decorations from the Stryj Raion, ham, sausages and baked bacon from the Chervonohrad area, picturesque painted Easter eggs from the Zolochiv Raion, pies with patriotic inscriptions from the Drohobych Raion, muffins and other sweets from the Sambir region, patties and diverse pastries from the Yavoriv area, festive dishes from the Lviv area – a thousand Easter sets were sent to the soldiers on the front line by the Lviv Oblast Humanitarian Hub.

Drogobich

The coordinators of the Active Community in Drohobych organized and conducted art therapy for internally displaced persons.

Rivne Oblast

The situation is relatively calm, there were no air alarms.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine patrol the border with Belarus. Representatives of the Territorial Defense Forces are patrolling and on duty at checkpoints.

The Zdovbytsia village council has launched another initiative “Together for VICTORY!”, Aimed at raising the fighting spirit, patriotic attitude and confidence in Ukraine’s victory over the invader. The initiative includes the decoration of bus stops, public buildings, monuments and architectural structures, the distribution of banners and more.
Volunteers hand out Easter cakes, delicacies, painted eggs, as well as porridge, stew, canned food and dry rations. Also, seamstresses-volunteers sew “unloadings” individually for the army, women and men.

Chernivtsi Oblast

The security situation in Bukovyna remains stable and under control. About 2,000 migrants recently arrived in Bukovyna by evacuation trains from the east of the country. Most of them were brought from the Pokrovsky community in the Donetsk Oblast.
On the eve of the holidays, Easter presents are collected in all communities of the region for the defenders of Ukraine, as well as for people who suffered from active hostilities and IDPs.
The regional coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Active Community Initiative in Chernivtsi continues to help social cuisine on the basis of one of the city’s schools. Today, for example, she was looking for volunteers to prepare holiday dinners and address humanitarian issues.

Transcarpathian Oblast

Students-journalists of Uzhhorod National University within the discipline “Principles of Documentary Filmmaking” are working on a film about the war.
Coordinators of AUI “Active Community” held an event in the reading room of the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library named after F. Potushnyak, where he presented the book “֨ City from which the war began” since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
