About us: The Active Community Initiative, launched by activists of the Respublika Institute after the Euromaidan (2014), focused on activating and involving Ukrainians in the decision-making process. The goal for 2025 is to activate and involve at least 1% of citizens in decision-making and promoting reforms in Ukraine on a systemic basis for the well-being of Ukrainian communities. Today we work in 30 communities in Ukraine.
Ukraine in brief:
43rd day of the heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the russian military invasion.
The enemy continues to prepare for the offensive in eastern Ukraine. The invaders are regrouping troops to complete the formation of the offensive group.
In the Volyn direction, there is a possibility of enemy missile and bomb attacks on the military and civilian infrastructure from the territory of belarus.
In the Zhytomyr and Kyiv oblasts, the enemy did not conduct active operations. The units of invaders, withdrawn to the territory of belarus, carry out demonstration actions to prevent the transfer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine units from the specified area to other areas.
It is quiet in the Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts. The enemy completes the regrouping and restoration of combat capabilities of military units in certain areas of bryansk and kursk oblasts. The possibility of further re-deployment of these units to other operational areas, including combat operations in the Donetsk and Luhansk areas, is not ruled out.
In the Kharkiv Oblast, up to five battalion tactical groups of the enemy continue to blockade the city and bombard it using multiple rocket launchers, tube artillery, and mortars. The invaders hold the town of Izium, trying to continue the offensive in the direction of Slovyansk and Barvinkove.
In the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts (south) and the Kherson Oblast, the enemy continues firing and assault operations. It inflict missile and bomb strikes, and conduct artillery fire on the civilian infrastructure of settlements. Russian occupation troops use the port of Berdyansk for the transfer of weapons, military equipment, and personnel. Likely, the invaders will soon try to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian troops in the Severodonetsk, Avdiivka, and Kurakhove raions.
In the Mykolaiv Oblast, the enemy conducted artillery fire and, in some areas, used army aviation. Russian occupation troops are trying to continue offensive operations in the direction of the village of Oleksandrivka.
Enemy naval groupings in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov continue to carry out the tasks of launching missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine, isolating the area of combat operations, and conducting reconnaissance.

As a result of yesterday’s artillery shelling in Balaklia, three people were killed, and many houses were destroyed. At night, the russians fired rockets at Lozova; no one was injured.
The occupiers are concentrated in the eastern direction from Kharkiv. The AFU are always ready to defend and hold positions.

The battles for Donbas are approaching. In a speech to NATO, Ukraine’s foreign minister said that the fight for the Oblast would be reminiscent of World War II, the intensity of the fighting and the amount of equipment involved. They were excited.
There are fights. The russian occupiers retreated a little. In addition to the military, the locals expelled them with improvised means and on their own. The Ukrainian military recaptured four settlements. The Territorial Defense Forces also entered the battle, and there were wounded. Yesterday, the occupiers shot dead civilians while receiving humanitarian aid. Everything was planned, as enemy troops fired simultaneously at Vugledar and Novotroitske. Two people were killed and wounded in Novotroitsk. The situation is tense.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsky Raion
During the night and today, the hottest spots were Avdiivka, Marinka, and Ocheretyne. The enemy fired on civilians from Hail multiple rocket launchers, tanks, artillery, and small arms. The military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) repulsed enemy attacks.
Together with the police, the Territorial Defense Forces were on duty. Russian occupation troops have shelled a residential area in Marinka. Many people could not leave and stayed at the railway station. The evacuation has been canceled so far. The administration is waiting for the end of the shelling to clarify the situation. Passengers of blocked trains remain at the station.

The situation in the city is very tense. The mayor handed over his powers to the military and called on everyone to evacuate the city.
Mariupol
The russian occupiers forcibly removed the staff and patients of the city hospital to the territory of russia and the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR). It is unclear what will happen to these people in the future. The Mariupol City Council is forming a single base of illegally deported people to return every Mariupol resident to Ukraine.

During the past 24hrs, the energy supply was restored in Berdyansk, 6 settlements of Orikhivska, and 4 settlements of Yakymivska Community. It is currently impossible to carry out work in Huliapole, Vasyliv, and Orikhiv raions due to active hostilities and inadmissibility by the russian occupiers.
Traffic is blocked in the russian-occupied territories. Many settlements were left without gas and water supply. It is not possible to restore them at this time. The situation is tense in Polohy, Melitopol, and Berdyansk raions.
The russian occupiers continue to terrorize the civilian population, including detaining and capturing residents. Kherson Oblast
Skadovsk
The Kherson Oblast and the city of Skadovsk have been fully occupied. The russians want to hold a fake ‘referendum’ and hence, mistreat the local government. They visit the military homes to talk to family members; they break in when they do not open the door. The Territorial Defence Forces patrol the city and villages.
The mayor appeared on social media to inform locals he had to leave the city because of a tough choice of either collaborating with the russian orcs or being sent to the dungeon for torture. He further assured Skadovsk citizens he is in 24/7 contact with the local government and the Territorial Defence Forces and called for calm. The locals are united but panicking. The city is not in its best shape. No Ukrainian flags can be seen in Skadovsk. Food stocks are drying out. The locals engage in volunteer activities. Pharmacies and banks are closed; the residents have been left without medicines, and their children have no infant formula or diapers. The bakery makes bread, though.

Yesterday the law enforcement officers in the Oblast checked more than 1400 vehicles and upwards of 2400 suspects. Of the latter, 14 are currently being checked for collaboration with the enemy and involvement in subversive activities.
