Northern oblasts

Kyiv Oblast

From June 15 to July 27, more than 270 bodies of those killed in hostilities from different regions of Ukraine, including from the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, were brought to the morgues of the Kyiv Oblast. Most of them have not yet been identified.

During the offensive of russian troops on Irpin and the occupation of part of the city, 322 civilians died at the hands of the invaders, and a lot more were killed in Bucha.

From the first days of de-occupation, the removal of rubble and construction debris has been ongoing in the Kyiv Oblast. A few days later, over 400 tons of construction waste were removed from the village of Kukhari.

Zhytomyr Oblast

The President presented the order to the relatives of the fallen Hero of Ukraine – Major Dmytro Kolomiyets from Ozerne, who drew the fire of the russian aviation at the airfield near Zhytomyr, piloting an L-39 plane. Passing the combat group, he was shot down by an enemy aircraft.

In Zhytomyr, at the Smolyan city military cemetery, they buried soldier Oleh Pryshchepa, who died defending the eastern borders of Ukraine.

In the city, the charity event “Happy Childhood of Ukraine” was organized for the children of internally displaced persons and the children of the killed participants of the ATO/OOS. During the morning event, air raid alerts sounded and the children were moved to a shelter, where entertainment and treats were organized for them. After the alarm, the event was resumed and continued on the street in the specially arranged locations.

The coordinator of the AUI “Active Community” established contacts with representatives of the authorities regarding internally displaced persons.

Chernihiv Oblast

Yesterday, August 7, russian troops again shelled the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast.

From the russian village of Lomakovka, the enemy bombarded the Semenivka community with artillery – eight hits.

The russians fired eight 120 mm mortar bombs on the territory of the Horodnia community. The bombardment was carried out from the village of Chornozemniy gorodok in russia. 

They started to dismantle another bridge across the Desna River near Sosnytsia in the Chernihiv Oblast.

Rescuers were disarming explosive ordnance near Terekhivka and Shestovytsia today.

It is planned to rename 49 streets and alleys in the Nosivka community, the names of which are of Soviet origin.

Sumy Oblast

In the morning, the russian military shelled the village of Katerynivka, Shostka Raion. As a result of the shelling, a 52-year-old local woman received a shrapnel wound and died.

In the morning, the occupiers shelled the Myropillia community. There were no casualties; the fire of dry vegetation near the sewage treatment plant was brought under control.

The police are documenting the consequences of russian shelling of the territories of the Sumy Oblast. 

Over the past day, the enemy shelled the town of Seredyna-Buda, the villages of Porokhon and Ulanove of the Shostka Raion, Pavlivka of the Sumy Raion, Manukhivka and Pisky of the Konotop Raion.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Some of the cluster projectiles that the russian army fired on Kharkiv in the morning of August 8 exploded near a residential high-rise building on Pavlove Pole, 100 meters from the “23rd of August” metro station. One man was killed, another was wounded. 

Around 11 p.m., as a result of shelling by the invaders, the roof of an administrative building in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv was on fire in several places. No casualties.

This night, the defense headquarters recorded more than 5 missile launches from the territory of the russian federation.

One of the missiles hit Pechenihy, Chuhuiv Raion, after 1 a.m. A 72-year-old woman died in a private house that was destroyed after the strike. During the day, Chuhuiv Raion was also shelled. The roofs of private houses, extensions and outbuildings of civilians were on fire.

Over the last day, the russians shelled the Bohodukhiv, Izium, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv raions with artillery.

In the Bohodukhiv Raion, the russians destroyed 28 hectares of wheat with fire. During the day, there were several bombardments of a number of farms. Hits on open-air areas were recorded in the Izium Raion. A 72-year-old woman was hospitalized.

In the Kharkiv Raion, due to the shelling of the invaders, the cooperative’s cottages and farm buildings were on fire. A 62-year-old woman died as a result of shelling in Cherkasy Tyshky. Two more people were hospitalized: an 84-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man.

Donetsk Oblast

Over the past day, the occupiers delivered 28 strikes on 16 settlements. Most of the hits were recorded in Avdiivka – 7, and Bakhmut – 6. Also affected were Selydove, Vuhledar, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Marinka, Soledar, New York, Opytne, Karlivka, Vyshneve, Yevhenivka, Novoukrainka, Maksymilianivka, and Pivnichne. 47 civilian facilities were destroyed or damaged: 34 residential buildings, a coke plant, a depot, a garden association, and a power substation. 

This morning, Krasnohorivka came under fire In the Marinka community: 5 residential buildings, a utility company and a confectionery shop were damaged. One house was damaged in Maksymilianivka, and one person was wounded in Marinka.

At night, the russians shelled Ocheretyne, at least 4 houses were damaged, power supply was interrupted. Lastochkyne, Pisky and Pervomaiske also came under fire in the community. Information about the damage is being specified.

In the morning, the russians shelled the old part of Avdiivka using the Grad MLRS, and a bit later they launched an airstrike on the city. The extent of destruction is being clarified.

In the Bakhmut Raion, the villages of Svitlodarsk and Soledar communities were under heavy fire. Currently, one person is known to be wounded in Yakovlivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy shelling from tanks, tube and rocket artillery was recorded near Kramatorsk, Siversk, Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, and Spirne. The occupiers launched airstrikes near Hryhorivka and Ivano-Daryivka.

In order to improve its tactical position, the enemy fought an offensive battle in the Verkhniokamianske area. Traditionally, the russians suffered losses and withdrew. 

Since February 24, the russians have killed 700 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 1,798.

On August 7, the russians killed 5 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast: 2 in Soledar, 1 in Bakhmut, 1 in Marinka, and 1 in Selydove. Another 17 people were wounded.

Kramatorsk

In the city of Kramatorsk, an enemy missile hit the private sector. Houses were damaged, but there were no casualties.

In the Mykolaiv territorial community, there was a hit on the territory of the Sloviansk thermal power plant.

Evacuation of the population continues in Kramatorsk. Utility services are gradually preparing for winter – draining water from batteries in high-rise buildings.

The situation in the city remains alarming.

The coordinator of the Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” continues to work at the humanitarian headquarters. He coordinated evacuation trains to Pokrovsk.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsky district

The last day in the Pokrovsk community was relatively calm. No victims or destructions were recorded.

Today representatives of the Mirnograd City Council of the Pokrovsky District and the Pokrovsky District Police Department held an information event with large families.

The mayor of Selydivska hromada (Pokrovskyi district) Ruslan Sukov told about the consequences of yesterday’s shelling: “One person died, two were injured. Three households were completely destroyed, and another six were damaged. Several munitions fell without exploding into the homes of local residents, so the pyrotechnic unit was called. The authorities will provide financial assistance to those whose houses are damaged. People are also provided with psychological support.”

Employees of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a local resident in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region. She collected and transmitted to the russian army the information about the positions and movements of military equipment, weapons, and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for launching missile strikes against them.

Bakhmut

The situation in the Bakhmut community is becoming increasingly tense. The city and villages are under constant shelling. Only in the past day, the enemy fired dozens of shells at the civilian population. As a result, a high-rise building caught fire, private houses and city infrastructure were destroyed.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy shelled military and civilian infrastructure in the areas of Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Soledar, Zaitseve, Yakovlivka, Bilogorivka and Bakhmutske settlements. Used aviation near Bakhmut, Yakovlivka, and Zaitsevo.

The enemy continues to conduct reconnaissance, sparing no personnel. Enemy reconnaissance groups were detected and neutralized in the areas of Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, and Yakovlivka settlements.

Luhansk Oblast

In Luhansk Oblast, the occupiers are organizing the deportation of orphaned children to the russian federation.

On August 7th, the occupiers attacked seven settlements on the border of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts from the air.

Enemy reconnaissance groups were also detected and neutralized near four settlements.

Southern regions

Kherson Oblast

Skadovsk

The occupying authorities of the Kherson region are distributing leaflets with an appeal to pay for the consumed electricity to the accounts of the fake company. “Kherson regional energy supply company” called it a fraud and reported that bills for consumed energy have not changed and are available in personal accounts on the official website.

The occupation authorities are also planning to issue russian license plates.

Every other day, the occupiers create traffic accidents on civilian vehicles. They continue to visit houses in groups, break down doors, look for weapons, and take activists away for questioning.

The attack aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out 9 strikes on three strongholds of the russian military.

People are holding on, they are at home, and some are trying to work. The situation is becoming more and more alarming every day, gunshots and explosions are heard, something is constantly smoking in the city. There are practically no people left in Skadovsk except for the elderly. Banks and ATMs are not working. From time to time, the Internet and electricity supply disappear. There is a drug exchange and one russian pharmacy. No institutions work, except for the new occupation government. Prices are high in the city.

Today, the coordinator of Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” held negotiations with activists who are outside the occupation. They planned assistance to Skadovsk and found out the needs.

Mykolayiv Oblast

Yesterday, the Korabelny district of Mykolaiv was shelled with heavy barrel artillery of 152 calibers. There are no dead or injured.

In the morning, around 04:30 a.m., the enemy shelled the outskirts of the city.

On August 7th, the enemy shelled the village of Halytsynov of the Halytsynov community. One person died as a result. There was also ignition of coniferous litter and forest plantations in the forest tract.

Also yesterday, a residential building and an outbuilding in Pervomaiskyi caught fire due to enemy shelling.

At approximately 04:00 p.m. on August 7th, the village of Shiroke of the Shirokiv community came under fire. The hits were in the agricultural building of households. The garage in the household also burned down due to shelling.

Around 4:00 a.m. today, shelling took place outside the villages of Chervona Dolyna, Polyana, and Shiroke of the Shirokiv community.

Settlements of the Berezneguvat community, located on the demarcation line, remain under constant fire. Berezneguvate was shelled in the morning. Objects of civil infrastructure were damaged.

Central regions

Kirovohrad Oblast

One after the other, air raid sirens sounded in the community. There was a threat of a missile strike.

The head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, Andriy Rajkovich, said that Kirovohrad Oblast continues to receive evacuation trains from Donetsk Oblast. More than 200 people arrived on the next train. The part of them remained in Alexandria and Kropyvnytskyi. The majority were sheltered by the Kompaniiv and Novomyrhorod communities.

The volunteer defense forces of the Kirovohrad Region conduct first aid training. Currently, classes are ongoing for volunteers of the Kropyvnytskyi community.

In Priyutivka, in the Kirovohrad region, they plan to create a patriotic mural for Independence Day. The Village Council of the Shelter offers to paint the fence at the entrance to the village on a patriotic theme. A collection of ideas and artists who will volunteer to take on the painting has been announced. The village council undertakes the purchase of paints, brushes and other materials.

A fair and a concert in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were held in the village of Makarikha of the Dmitrivska community of the Kropyvnytskyi district. Local housewives sold Ukrainian dishes, pastries, and other goodies at the fair. Artistic groups and soloists of the Makaryn village club and the Dmitriv base house of culture held a concert. During the events, residents and guests of the village collected 30,600 hryvnias, which will be donated to the needs of the army.

For the sixth month, residents of the Hayvoron community of the Golovaniv district have been packing products at humanitarian headquarters, sending funds for the needs of defenders, weaving camouflage nets, preparing pastries and other delicacies for the front line, and obtaining transport and ammunition from abroad. Even children collect aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, students and parents of the 2-B class of the communal institution “Hayvoron Lyceum No. 1” organized the charity event “Children on the side of peace”.

The coordinator of the Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” provided consultations to displaced persons from Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts on obtaining documents on the status of an internally displaced person, as well as information on the available resources of employers in the regional center and surrounding communities.

Poltava Oblast 

The cause of sounds similar to an explosion, which Kremenchuk residents could hear during the air raid yesterday, was probably the work of aviation outside the district.

This was announced by the head of the Kremenchug district military administration Oleg Lednik. He emphasized that no “arrivals, i.e. hits” were recorded, and the cause of the sounds is currently being investigated. Experts in the field of aviation explain such sounds as the possible flight of planes at low altitudes and their transition to supersonic speed. It is at this moment that this sound, like an explosion, can be heard.

In Poltava, applications are accepted for the guardianship of homeless dogs living in the detention center.

The aviators of the Poltava region, who arrived from the war zone, were presented with awards for their service.

The Health Department of the Poltava City Council informs that 98 children were born in Poltava last week (from July 29 to August 5): 58 boys and 40 girls.

The Poltava team of the All-Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” held a meeting with a family of internally displaced persons who arrived in Poltava a week ago. The family has four children and needs additional attention, help with settlement and information on receiving benefits and humanitarian aid.

Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion

Air raid sirens sounded throughout the day.

The past day was relatively calm in the Khmilnyk community. No facts were recorded regarding the victims and destruction.

On August 7, the russian occupiers used Kh-47M “Kinzhal” hypersonic air-based missiles against military facilities in the Vinnytsia region. This type of missile is difficult for air defense to detect and destroy.

Educational institutions of the Khmilnyk community can apply for free Wi-Fi installation in their shelters. For this, only an application needs to be submitted.

The coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” of Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk oblast met with the displaced persons staying in the “Podillia” resort house. They talked about humanitarian aid, which is received under the legislation on internally displaced persons.

 

Western Oblasts

Ivano-Frankivsk

In general, the situation in Prykarpattya is stable and under control. As of 5:30 p.m., the air raid alert sounded twice in the region.

The Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health published that on August 8, the radiation background indicator in the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast is from 0.10 to 0.13 μSv/h. This is at a threshold value of 0.32 μSv/h.

In Prykarpattya, law enforcement officers detained the head of a charity fund and his assistant for trading in vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A deputy of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council, being the head of one of the charitable foundations of the region, imported vehicles into the country under the guise of humanitarian aid for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, after importing, he sold the car to civilians, and appropriated the money. The man involved his assistant in illegal activities. Both participants were informed of the suspicions and preventive measures were taken. Law enforcement officers detained criminals while selling an Opel Vivaro ambulance to a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk. They received $12,000 for the special vehicle.

 

Rivne Oblast

The general situation is relatively calm, as of 17:30 there were two air alarms.

A pensioner from the Rivne oblast is suspected of justifying the crimes of the russian army. This was reported in the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine of the Rivne Oblast. The woman disseminated information from pro-russian or russian sources. The sanction of the incriminated article provides for restriction or deprivation of liberty for a term of up to five years. Confiscation of property is also possible. 

In the Rivne oblast, in the village of Rokytne, a seven-year-old resettled girl collected money during a charity fair, demonstrating her mental arithmetic skills. Anastasia Velichko calculated complex sums in her mind. The girl has been studying mental arithmetic since she was five years old. According to mom, she adds and subtracts within a thousand, and mentally multiplies two- and three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. In this way, Anastasia Velichko collected 1,142 hryvnias at the fair. The collected funds were transferred to help the Ukrainian army. 

Housing for internally displaced citizens is being completed in the abandoned school in the village of Zaritsk in the Rivne oblast. Renovation of the building of the former educational institution began in June with the money of benefactors. Currently, two internally displaced citizens are already living there, they are helping to complete the works. In total, about forty people can live in the premises of the former school. 

Khmelnitsky Oblast

Volunteers from all over Ukraine are creating a camp for displaced people on the Zbruch River in the Satanivka Territorial Community. They decided to make the construction in the form of a youth camp, where volunteers are recruited from all over Ukraine, provided with housing and food.

Three hundred residents of Khmelnytskyi and guests of the city came to the rally in the center of Khmelnytskyi in support of the prisoners of war of the Mariupol garrison “Olenivka”. The event was organized by the wives, fathers and mothers of the currently captured Azov warriors.

The coordinators of the All-Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” communicated with the displaced people about the opportunities that exist in the community, and also learned about the problems in arranging their lives. Kamianets-Podilskyi

Air-raid warnings sounded tonight and twice during the day.

On August 8, the Day of Mourning was announced in Kamianets-Podilskyi as a sign of honoring the memory of the fallen military serviceman Georgy Antokhov-Khliborob, who was now being accompanied by the people of Kamianets-Podilskyi on his last journey on Earth. Another terrible news struck the community – about the death of their countryman in the battles for Bakhmut – the legendary fighter with the call sign “Dragon” – Oleksandr Popov. 

The City Department of Transfusiology (Blood Transfusion Station) informs about the need to replenish the blood bank. 

Today, local entrepreneur Volodymyr Hromey, who has already sent a car and bulletproof vests to the front, this time personally handed over tourniquets and ammunition bags to the mayor . This aid will soon go to the front line. 

The hromada is developing a new concept for the Tankmen Square, which was recently renamed the Heroes Square – to honor all Ukrainians who fought for the independence of Ukraine.

Chernivtsi Oblast

During the day, air-raid warning sounded three times in Chernivtsi Oblast, currently the situation is calm and under control.

Mykola Nyzhnyk from Kitsman Raion was awarded the Order For Courage of the 3rd class.

Head of Chernivtsi Oblast Military Administration Ruslan Zaparanyuk met with the legendary defender of Ukraine Mamuka Mamulashvili and his brothers-in-arms from the Georgian National Legion. They discussed the possibilities of cooperation and assistance. The guys talked about their plans for conducting tactical training for youth in Chernivtsi Oblast. “I welcome such measures, young people should be prepared for the challenges of the time and see what exciting warriors protect our country. We will support them in every possible way,” said the head of the oblast military administration. 

The company “Ukrledlight” moved to Bukovina. Its owner Maxim Levanets has been engaged in modern LED lighting since 2009.

Olena and her family had to flee russian aggression from Sumy to Chernivtsi. The city in the West became the second home for the woman.

Pictorial review” was opened today in Uzhhorod. 50 photos of well-known photojournalists and photographers of Zakarpattia Oblast, who recorded events in the region from the first days of the full-scale war, were placed on the picturesque stone wall of the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum named after Y. Bokshay on Zhupanatska Square.
