About us: The Active Community Initiative, launched by activists of the Respublika Institute after the Euromaidan (2014), focused on activating and involving Ukrainians in the decision-making process. The goal for 2025 is to activate and involve at least 1% of citizens in decision-making and promoting reforms in Ukraine on a systematic basis for the well-being of Ukrainian communities. Today we work in 30 communities in Ukraine.

Ukraine in brief:

The one hundred fifteenth (115) day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to a russian military invasion continues.

The situation in the Volyn and Polissya areas remained without significant changes.

In the Siverskyy direction, the enemy continues to demonstrate the presence of its troops in the border areas of Bryansk and Kursk regions.

In the Slobozhansky direction, the enemy is holding back the defense of the previously occupied borders, using the available means of fire destruction and trying to prevent the advance of units of the Defense Forces in the direction of the state border of Ukraine.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy carried out artillery shelling in the areas of the settlements of Dementiyivka, Pechenigy, Korobochkine, Bayrak, Verkhniy Saltiv, Kharkiv, Kapitolivka and Tsyrkuny.

In the Slovyansk direction, the enemy used mortars, artillery and rocket-propelled grenade launchers in the areas of the settlements of Hrushuvakha, Dolyna, Morosivka, Pryshib and Chepil. It is trying to create favourable conditions for the continuation of offensive operations in the direction of Izyum – Slovyansk.

In the Krasnopillya area, Ukrainian soldiers inflicted heavy losses on the enemy when it tried to conduct reconnaissance by combat.

In the Lyman direction, the occupiers used artillery near the lighthouses.

In the Siverodonetsk direction, the enemy continues to fire from barrel and jet artillery in the areas of the settlements of Metolkine, Bila Hora and Ustynivka. It tried to carry out assault operations in order to establish full control over the city of Siverodonetsk, but was unsuccessful.

As a result of fire damage and assault, the enemy has partial success in the village of Metolkine, trying to gain a foothold. Our soldiers repulsed the assault in the direction of Syrotyn.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy launched an air strike near Berestove.

In the Avdiivka, Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, the enemy continues systematic shelling in order to prevent the regrouping of units of our troops in other directions. It used barrel and jet artillery in the areas of Zhelanne, Orlivka, Opytne, Vodiane, Novodanylivka, Shcherbaky, Malynivka and Temyrivka.

In the South Buh and Tavriya directions, the enemy fired artillery at the districts of Oleksandrivka, Novohryhorivka, Shiroke, Kvitneve, and Pervomaiske.

In the waters of the Black and Azov Seas there is a relocation of the ship-boat composition of the Black Sea Fleet.

The enemy continues to suffer significant losses during hostilities on the territory of Ukraine.

Northern Oblasts 

Kyiv

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted in favor of ratifying the Istanbul Convention.

The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal banned the Opposition Platform for Life political party. The property, funds and other assets of this party will be transferred to state ownership.

Kyiv Oblast

6 Centers for Provision of Administrative Services of Kyiv Oblast affected by russian aggression received computer equipment and support from the “PROSTO” project “Support for Access to Services in Ukraine”. Such assistance is needed because the number of applications in the centers is increasing every day and specialists need the necessary equipment to provide services to the population as quickly as possible. Currently, there are 56 Centers for Provision of Administrative Services, one territorial subdivision and 109 remote workplaces in the region. The Center for Provision of Administrative Services of the city of Irpin, the village of Borodyanka and the Polissya village council partially resumed their work.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Zhytomyr Oblast Police, together with servicemen and local Territorial Defense units, are carrying out intensified measures at checkpoints to control entry and exit to settlements. Police in Zhytomyr have exposed another admirer of the aggressor state.

Soldiers from the Romaniv Raion were given a car trailer, earlier cars were handed over to the same unit.

Students of Polissya University, who are defending the country as part of the 95th Brigade, were awarded state prizes.

The United States has donated more than 16 tons of cancer drugs to Ukrainian hospitals, and the Zhytomyr Oblast has already received some.

Almost 500 roses were planted on the territory of one of the kindergartens in Zhytomyr to psychologically support children during the war. Both educators and children take care of the flowers.

The regional coordinator provided consultations for internally displaced persons and liaised with representatives of the Zhytomyr City Council.

Chernihiv Oblast

Today, the Semenov direction in the Chernihiv Oblast was shelled by the russians. Recorded 15 parcels from the barrel artillery. Previously, no one was injured. Earlier, the head of the Chernihiv Oblast’s Military Administration warned of possible missile strikes by russian troops on railway facilities in the region.

The Chernihiv Oblast’s Hospital began repairs after the fighting. As a result of the shelling of the city, 213 windows in the hospital were damaged. Surviving windows are sometimes covered with wood, others are sealed with film.

In Chernihiv, the Central Park of Culture and Recreation plans to open attractions.

Sumy Oblast

There is an air alarm during the day.

The russian military remotely mines the territory of the Bilopillya community. The chairman of city council reported about it. These are PTM-3 and PTM-4 mines. They respond to the replacement of the electromagnetic field.

There are almost 10 teenagers in Sumy hospital who were injured by explosives. Information on the exact number of injured children is limited to outsiders while investigations are ongoing.

Eastern Oblasts 

Kharkiv Oblast

The russians continue to terrorize the civilian population of Kharkiv Oblast. During the past 24 hours in Kharkiv, the enemy was beating on the outskirts of the city and in the Kholodnohirsky Raion. The morning in the city also began with the beatings.

In Lyubotyn, the enemy fired a missile at an educational institution. In Bohodukhiv district, the village of Baranivka was shelled, and a private house was damaged. Mala Danylivka came under fire.

A total of 8 people were injured in the russian shelling in the Oblast. In addition, a 74-year-old man exploded on a russian mine in the village of Tsirkuni.

In the Izium Raion, the fire at the oil refinery, which was hit by the russian occupiers on June 18, is still being extinguished.

On the line of contact in the Kharkiv Oblast, the enemy is mainly focused on defense. Defenders of Ukraine hold their ground securely.

Donetsk Oblast

On June 19, the russians killed two civilians in Donetsk: Maksymilianivka and Zaitsevo. Another 12 people were injured.

Since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine as a result of shelling and bombing in Donetsk Oblast, 512 civilians were killed and 1,331 wounded.

Kramatorsk

The situation is alarming. Explosions were heard in the city, but no damage or casualties were reported.

The city authorities announced the second wave of applications for humanitarian aid from the Humanitarian Headquarters of the Kramatorsk City Council. Water supply points have been published in Krasnogorka and Yasnogorka, Shabelkovka and other settlements of the city.

The mayor also shared his impressions of the process of issuing humanitarian aid. In particular, it is very difficult to get humanitarian aid for residents who work at enterprises that provide for the city’s livelihood. Separately, the mayor gave a detailed interview about the situation in the community. 

Instead, the situation with fuel and medicines has improved somewhat.

Computer equipment was received and adjusted from the Novokramatorsk Machine-Building Plant, which will be used at humanitarian aid points.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion 

The enemy did not take active action in the Avdiivka and Kurakhiv areas. In the Avdiivka direction there is an increase in the intensity of artillery shelling of our positions, as well as the russians were beating with artillery and tanks in the city of Avdiivka.

Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to inflict significant losses on enemy troops.

Representatives of the local Territorial Defense units conducted patrols in the Pokrovsky community.

The past day of the Intercession community was relatively calm.

The Pokrovsky community received 23 laptops for schools that were damaged as a result of russian aggression. 15 units were transferred to the Educational Complex №2, another 8 – to Sribne Educational Institution. All equipment was received with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, the international organization UNICEF, the leadership of the Department of Education and Science. Thanks to these laptops, teachers will be able to restore a full educational process and make distance learning more effective.

The Red Cross regularly supports the communities of Donetsk Oblast, especially the frontline cities. This time the help was received by migrants mainly from Avdiivka and Ocheretyn communities.

Myrnohrad community of Pokrovsk Oblast received another humanitarian cargo. The diesel electric generator from the Luhansk Regional Human Rights Center “Alternativa”, as well as medicines and solutions for medical institutions of the community came from the NGO “Center for Environmental Initiatives” Ekodia “within the Platform for Sustainable Development of Coal Cities of Donetsk Oblast.

Bakhmut

In the Donetsk direction, the enemy continues to focus its efforts on the Severodonetsk and Bakhmut directions. Intensive use of aviation.

In the Bakhmut direction, during the day, the enemy fired artillery and rocket-propelled grenade launchers in the areas of Orikhove, Zolote-3, Mykolayivka, Berestove, Belogorovka, Yakovlivka, Pokrovske, Klinove, Zaitsevo and New York. The enemy launched an air strike near Yakovlevka and missile strikes near May, Dolomite, Zaitsev and New York:

In the city of Bakhmut from June 20, the movement of trolleybus № 8 on the route Svobody Street – Opytne village will be resumed. Electric transport will run on two flights. Trolleybuses on routes № 2,3,5 and 8 will also depart.

The regional coordinator registered people in need of humanitarian assistance.

Mariupol

The head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, said that Azovstal defenders who had been captured are alive. It is unknown under what conditions they are being held. He assured that the Central Intelligence Agency is constantly monitoring the situation, they have a connection with some of them and the process does not stop.

The occupiers continue to hide the equipment among the residential districts of Mariupol. They do it even now when there are no active hostilities near the city. The Ukrainian human shield is russia’s only tactic.

At one of the schools, the russians drew a graffiti with a russian soldier standing on the body of a Ukrainian soldier.

Luhansk Oblast

The most difficult military situation in Ukraine is in Luhansk Oblast. The russians are using creeping tactics: they are destroying Oblast with all kinds of weapons, including banned ones. Fierce fighting continues in Severodonetsk. The russians cannot capture the city completely and suffer heavy losses. The occupiers deport residents from the entire neighbourhoods of the city and placed heavy weapons there.

In addition, hostilities occur in many villages around Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. Ukraine has lost control over the Metolkine village near Severodonetsk.

Yesterday, the russians tried to make a breakthrough in the area of Toshkivka. They were defeated due to the work of Ukrainian artillery. Lysychansk is under Ukrainian control, but the city is under constant fire from russian occupation troops.

Over the past day in Luhansk Oblast, the russians damaged 26 houses in Hirske and Vrubivka. Several administrative buildings were shelled in Lysychansk.

Enemy russian soldiers have attacked three times from the air in the areas of Bila Hora, Myrna Dolyna and one of the destroyed bridges connecting Lysychansk and Severodonetsk. Bridges unfit for relocation are regularly shelled by the occupiers, so that the remnants of infrastructure are compleyely destroyed. The villages of Pavlohrad and Synetskyi were once again attacked. Also in Severodonetsk, the territory of the Skloplastyk plant and the rescue polygon area came under enemy fire.

On June 19th, Luhansk residents received 4 tons of humanitarian aid, mostly food, and 32 tons of water.

Southern Oblasts

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

During the past 24 hours, there have been 36 reports of the destruction of houses and apartments, as well as other infrastructure facilities in Zaporizhzhia Oblast as a result of shelling by russian soldiers.

In particular, the russians fired on the village of Burlatske from the multiple rocket launch systems BM-21 “Grad”. The village of Mali Shcherbaky was hit by Su-25 attack aircraft. The russians also fired artillery at the Yuliivka village school in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The missiles hit the roof and walls of the building.

As a result of the russian shelling, rescuers put out two fires (a car fire in Yuliivka, Zaporizhzhia Raion and fire in the warehouse, Polohy). The information was given by the State Emergency Service of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

During the day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Zaporizhzhia Oblast destroyed one armored personnel carrier, one BRDM, one BTLB, one observation post, and one base of the enemy platoon and one dugout.

The State Bureau of Investigation reported in absentia on suspicion of treason to six law enforcement officers from the temporarily occupied Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, who collaborated with the russians.

Kherson Oblast

Skadovsk

The russian occupiers are holding people captive. The biggest number of such cases are recorded in Kherson Oblast. The russians are transporting more and more of their military equipment into Oblast. 

Collaborators continue to riot in Skadovsk. The occupiers mined the beaches. They are preparing provocative shelling of residential buildings. People cannot leave the territory of Oblast as all exits are closed again. The russians are robbing farmers, they want 70% of the harvest to be allocated to Crimea.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are located 10 km from Kherson Oblast.

The mayor of Skadovsk works remotely and informs about the explosions in Skadovsk and their consequences. The first explosion Skadovsk residents heard was caused by the Russian air defense systems. Witnesses say they saw a rocket that destroyed non-residential premises near the Skadovsk port. It caused another powerful explosion, which was heard even in neighbouring villages. Information about the destruction is being clarified. There are no victims.

Unfortunately, an employee of the local State Emergency Service (SES), Serhiy Boychenko from Skadovsk, who was inspecting the site of the explosion, died under unknown circumstances. According to the SES, occupiers took him away from his home immediately after he returned from work. Late in the evening he was found dead and taken to the Skadovsk hospital. An investigation continues.

People are waiting to be liberated, they are volunteering and trying to stay calm.

The situation continues to be tense, there is nothing Ukrainian left in the city. There is still no mobile connection in Skadovsk and only some people have the Internet at home. There is one russian pharmacy and drug exchange. The new military “government” dictates its rules in Skadovsk. Prices are rising every day. Neither banks nor ATMs work, there is no way to withdraw cash.

Mykolayiv Oblast

The occupiers continue to chaotically shell the territory of Mykolayiv Oblast. Bashtanska and Mykolayiv Raions still remain under the threat of attack. Yesterday, the russians fired on the territory of the Bereznehuvate, Shyroke, Halytsynove and Voskresenske communities. Due to the shelling, a field of winter wheat broke out and some settlements have problems with energy and water supply in some settlements.

The russians fired on Ochakiv with the aircraft. Private houses were damaged.

For the past 24 hours, 10 people were injured in Mykolayiv Oblast.

Odesa Oblast

The situation is very tense. There is a danger of rocket fire in Oblast. Air-raid warnings sound more frequent. Enemy missiles were shot down again today.

Territorial Defense Forces continue to strengthen the defense in Oblast.

About 80 windows were damaged by the blast in the morning. According to the mayor of Odesa, Hennadyi Trukhanov, local municipal utilities work at that place from the very morning, eliminate the consequences and make all necessary repairs.

People are united and active, they volunteer and take part in charity events.

The AUI Active Community regional coordinator provided information on how to obtain psychological, social and humanitarian help.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Rescuers found the body of another victim of an attack on an oil depot in Novomoskovsk Raion. Rescuers have not been able to completely extinguish the fire for more than 45 hours.

The enemy fired artillery at Velyka Kostromka. A private house was set on fire. The russians shelled the territory of the Zelenodolsk and Apostolove communities.

The Dnipro city authorities, together with the TAPS-Ukraine Foundation and the Dnipro Volunteer Coordination Headquarters, continue to help the military, IDPs, and hospital workers. Dozens of packages of medicines, bandages and disinfectants were handed over to one of the city’s medical institutions. A city residents has bought a functional bed for the hospital. Also, thanks to the support of the TAPS-Ukraine Foundation, 7,000 first aid kits and 11,500 turnstiles have already been handed over to the Ukrainian soldiers. Thanks to these funds, Ukrainians managed to buy fabric and sew 2,000 T-shirts for defenders.

In Novokodatskyi Park, Dnipro, the IDPs planted ten paulownia trees. This is a manifestation of their gratitude to the city for providing the shelter. Pavlovnia trees grow quite quickly and bloom beautifully.

An English club based in the Central Library operates in Kryvyi Rih. Classes are free of charge and take place every Saturday and Tuesday at the Central Library.

Kirovohrad Oblast

The situation during the day was quiet, there were no air-raid warnings.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi awarded the title of “Honored Doctor of Ukraine” to Lyudmyla Kruhlenko from the Onufriyivka village community, Oleksandriia Raion. Lyudmyla Kruhlenko is the chief physician in the Center of Primary Health Care of the Onufriyivka Village Council.

The curfew in Kropyvnytskyi is being reduced. Now it will last from 11 pm to 5 am.

Owing to charitable funds received from the residents of the Pishchanyi Brid community, the organisation “Patriots of the Pishchanyy Brid community” purchased a car and donated it to the soldiers. The car was loaded with products and necessary equipment.

The AUI Active Community regional coordinator gave IDPs advice on how to obtain IDP status documents, as well as information on the available vacancies from regional employers and in the surrounding communities.

Poltava Oblast

Wounded soldiers who are being treated in hospitals of the Poltava Oblast, and soldiers on the front line need medicine – fundraising for the purchase of medicines continues.

Training shootings are held in the Myrhorod community. Authorities are asking residents of the community to remain calm if they hear gunshots or explosions.

Also today testing of the new equipment – a mower is carried out. Thus, in order to create additional employment opportunities for internally displaced persons, they not only launched a public works program but also worked to provide these people with the necessary equipment with the support of the German government.

Authorities are considering the possibility of introducing a Spanish telemedicine system in the Poltava region. Several Home doctor telemedicine boxes have already been received from volunteers for testing. The device allows the doctor and the patient to conduct primary research remotely. This equipment is very easy to use, and it is well suited for residents of remote areas.

The Active Community of Poltava oblast team visited the book exhibition “Constitution of Ukraine – the way to the establishment of Ukrainian statehood” in the department of reading rooms of Poltava to talk to Poltava residents during the exhibition.

Vinnytsia Oblast

Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion

There were only a few air defence signals last night. The day in the Khmilnyk community passed quietly.

The wounded National Guardsmen, including Dmytro Finashyn from Koziatyn, were greeted with applause at the capital’s railway station.

During the day, the coordinators of the Active Community of Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion were preparing for the next event.

Western oblasts

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

In general, the situation in the oblast is stable and under control. The day passed without air alarms.

The volunteer front continues to work. Thus, an aid truck weighing 11.5 tons with humanitarian aid and ammunition from the Hunting Precinct and the AUREA POLONIA Foundation (Poland) arrived in the community. Food was provided, as well as hygiene items, first aid kits, turnstiles and helmets for the military.

Social canteens continue to work.

Rivne Oblast

There were no air alarms during the day.

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine patrol the border with Belarus. Representatives of the Territorial Defense units are patrolling and on duty at checkpoints. The oblast continues to strengthen its borders with Belarus and improve fortifications.

Another educational institution was relocated to the Rivne oblast – Kharkiv Institute of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Children from the Zdolbuniv raion bake cookies to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the village of Stara Moshchanytsia, a master class for children on making ginger-honey cookies was organized. Participants diligently baked and decorated delicacies. All for charity. 

Today the coordinators conducted a master class “Drawing in the summer” – children who currently live in Rivne, depicted their summer associations with different forms and techniques – applications, three-dimensional applications, and drawing. Participants shared their impressions and thoughts about summer, which were united by the fact that summer is heat, vacation and rest.

Zdovbytsia

The general situation in the oblast is calm. There were no air alarms. Representatives of the local defence forces continue to stand guard at checkpoints.

The Zdovbytsya Lyceum weaves nets for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zdovbytsia village council continues to provide humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons. This time people received food kits. In particular, it is oil, butter, pasta, cereals, rice, sugar, and tea.

Local deputies from the European Solidarity joined the formation of assistance to paramedics of one of the combat units in eastern Ukraine. They also transferred clothes for soldiers, wet wipes and gloves to different parts of Ukraine.

The regional coordinator of the Active Community of Zdovbytsia organized a march of newly arrived citizens and residents of the community to the Zdolbuniv Museum of Local Lore and the quest room.

Khmelnytsky Oblast

Khmelnytskyi

A patriotic charity race “Ukraine run” took place in Khmelnytsky. The initiators of the start – the organizers of the running club Flash Run – raised funds to purchase a car for our military. The asking price is 90 thousand hryvnias.

Khmelnytsky communal workers returned from Chernihiv, where they helped rebuild houses after the russian shelling. Roofs and windows had been repaired for two weeks. They did even more than their Chernihiv colleagues asked. So they had to buy or borrow additional materials for repair work.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

This weekend the mayor visited military units where the people of Kamianets-Podilskyi serve. Delivered aid, gifts from the community, and cars to perform combat missions. The guys thanked and said that they would defend our land until victory.

The mayor appealed to the heads of gas stations in the city with a request to provide fuel in the first turn to people with disabilities due to the war, participants in hostilities and persons equated to them. 

In the last three days, from Friday to Sunday, the community sheltered 23 more people who had fled the war and provided nearly 8,800 lunches and dinners. Local authorities inform that the funds in the budget accounts are enough to pay for services for the nutrition of migrants, procurement and other expenses. The Department of Accounting, Distribution and Privatization of Housing form a register of housing for free temporary accommodation of internally displaced persons. Prerequisite – IDPs must be registered with the local social security department.

It is planned to check all the shelters of educational institutions to start training offline from September 1.

The city archives have started creating a fund of personal origin with the working title “Kamyanchany – Heroes of the russian-Ukrainian War”.

Kamenets-Podolsky Historical Museum-Reserve announces new free tours dedicated to Constitution Day. It will be about the history of Ukraine, Podillya, Kamianets-Podilskyi from ancient times to the present in the language of exhibits, architectural monuments, works of art, and numismatics.

Chernivtsi oblast

It is currently safe in the Chernivtsi oblast. Representatives of law enforcement agencies are guarding the peace of Bukovynians and guests of the oblast around the clock.

Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a series of large-scale sabotages on the railway, detaining an enemy agent during a multi-stage special operation in Chernivtsi. According to the investigation, he was detained on the basis of intelligence services of the russian-controlled special services of the so-called “DPR”, has a passport of a citizen of Ukraine and a Kyiv residence permit, but was “conserved” in one of the Middle Eastern countries.

Bukovyna said goodbye to the Heroes who laid down their lives in the struggle for freedom – senior soldier Volodymyr Martyniuk and soldier Ivan Lyakhomsky spent their last time at the Sadhir Cemetery in Chernivtsi, junior sergeant Vadym Vynnychuk in the village of Brusnytsia.

Anesthesiologist of Chernivtsi Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital Konstantin Koutsun became an honoured donor of Ukraine. The decree conferring an honorary title on him was signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zakarpattia

In the Zakarpattia oblast, 74 locations have been identified where children will have a rest this summer. The first children’s camps opened in Zakarpattia. According to the director of the department of education and science, youth and sports of the regional military administration Maryana Marusynets, a total of about 4,500 people will be in the camps on the basis of schools.
