Ukraine in brief:
The ninety-fifth day of the heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the Russian military invasion continues.
The enemy does not stop conducting offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone in order to establish full control over the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts nd block Ukraine’s maritime communications in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
In the north of Ukraine without significant changes.
The aggressor continued shelling the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy Oblasts.In particular, the settlements of Senkivka, Hirsk, Hrinivka, Gasychivka of Chernihiv Oblast and Bachivsk, Seredyna Buda, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Manukhivka of Sumy region.
In order to clarify the position of our troops, the enemy conducted air reconnaissance using UAVs.
In the Slobozhansky direction, the enemy focused its main efforts on maintaining its occupied positions.
In the Kharkiv direction, the russian occupiers used barrel and jet artillery to fire. Conducted air reconnaissance. In addition, they launched an airstrike on the village of Prudyanka.
In the Slovyansk direction, the enemy, with the support of artillery, carried out assault operations in the direction of Pasik – Bogorodichne, had no success, retreated to previously occupied positions. He fired several artillery and mortar shells at the settlements of Velyka Komyshuvakha, Dovhenke, and Vernopillya.
The occupiers waged active hostilities in the Severodonetsk, Bakhmut and Kurakhiv areas. The main goal of the enemy is to surround the Ukrainian troops in the areas of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk and to block the main logistics routes.
The enemy is actively using aircraft, forces and means of missile forces and artillery, electronic warfare. In order to make regular attempts to force the Seversky Donets River in certain areas, it replenishes ammunition and fuel and lubricants.
In the Lyman direction, some enemy units were withdrawn from the Lyman settlement.
In the Severodonetsk direction, in order to support the actions of ground forces, the enemy continues to fire on our troops with the use of artillery and jet artillery. The enemy struck an air strike by operational and tactical aircraft in the area of the village of Ustynivka. He is trying to gain a foothold on the northeastern outskirts of the city of Severodonetsk, conducting assault operations in the direction of the city center.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy prepared for assault operations, fired mortars, artillery shells, and multiple rocket launchers in the areas of the settlements of Komyshuvakha, Dolomitnoye, and New York. Inflicted an air strike by operational and tactical aircraft in the areas of Berestove and Pokrovske. He fired four missiles at the settlements of Verkhnekamyanske, Vrubivka and Soledar.
In the Avdiivka and Kurakhiv areas, the enemy fired intensively at the positions of our troops, inflicting air strikes with operational-tactical planes and helicopters of army aircraft.
In the Kryvyi Rih direction, the occupiers fired at our troops with mortars, jet and barrel artillery in the areas of Trudolyubivka, Mala Shesternya, Dobryanka, Knyazivka, Tokareve, Shiroke, Pervomaiske, Novomykolaivka, Kotlyarevo, Novohryhoriivske, Tavrykivskyi, Povogryskerivske and Tav.
In the Mykolaiv direction aggressors carry out movement of reserves for restoration of the lost positions in areas of the settlements Andriyivka, Belogorka and Bila Krynytsia. In the area of Staro-Bogdanivka, the enemy used a strike UAV.
Ukrainian defenders inflict losses on the russian occupiers in all areas where active hostilities continue.
Northern Oblasts
Kyiv
Today is the Day of the city. The holiday is celebrated according to the rules of martial law. Most of the events took place online and partly offline and were patriotic in nature.
The National House of Organ and Chamber Music of Ukraine prepared a special greeting to the city.
Kyiv Oblast
Modular villages for locals will be built in the settlements of Kyiv oblast which were affected by the russian offensive. In Borodyanka such a village will receive 350 people.
For the past 24 hours, 259 explosive devices have been neutralized in the oblast. In total, during the period of active hostilities in the Kyiv oblast – 39772.
Zhytomyr Oblast
Yesterday, pyrotechnicians found and destroyed one cluster element of the Hurricane multiple rocket launcher and three anti-tank mines in various settlements of the Korosten region.
“Ukravtodor” announced the resumption of cargo traffic on Zhytomyr highway. After the destruction of the bridge over the Irpin reaver near Stoyanka, a temporary crossing was constructed, but only cars could pass it. Currently, the left side of the bridge is equipped to carry trucks. In autumn, Ukravtodor plans to open the right lane of the bridge.
Bus routes from Narodychi to Ovruch and Korosten will be resumed on Monday.
More than 25 and a half thousand hryvnias were raised at a charity football tournament in Berdychiv. The money will go to the needs of the 26th artillery brigade. Joined teams of the city sports schools and lyceum-boarding school of sports profile participated in the tournament.
Chernihiv Oblast
An air alarm has been sounding in the region since the evening.
On the night of May 28th, the Chernihiv border was again shelled by the russian military. In particular, there were shellings near the Senkivka checkpoint.
Today, the russians fired mortars in the Semenov direction.
Ukraine’s cyberpolice has identified a russian soldier who, along with his comrades, robbed a Chernihiv resident’s home in March this year. He was informed of the suspicion in absentia.
Volunteers from Ivano-Frankivsk donated more than 1,600 books to the Chernihiv oblast.
Sumy Oblast
Russian troops continue to terrorize civilians in Sumy region.
Yesterday they fired two missiles at Sumy district. Several civilian objects were damaged: kindergarten, church, and private houses. One woman was wounded by a rocket fragment.
Today at about 13:00 the russians opened fire with mortars on the outskirts of Bachiv.
Eastern Oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
More than 2,000 houses have been destroyed in the Kharkiv oblast since February 24.
Donetsk Oblast
During the past 24 hours, seven enemy attacks were repulsed at Donetsk and Luhansk directions, one tank and six enemy vehicles were destroyed. Air defense units shot down an enemy UAV Orlan-10. The enemy has losses at the other directions as well.
Since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine, 444 civilians have been killed and 1,177 wounded in shelling and bombing in the Donetsk Oblast.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsky region
Along the entire line of defense, the enemy uses combat aircraft, multiple rocket launchers, large-caliber barrel artillery, tanks, mortars of various systems, and launches missile and bomb strikes on civilian infrastructure and residential areas.
During the day, the occupiers fired rockets, “hurricanes”, tanks, and heavy artillery at Avdiivka and Maryanka. There are dead and wounded civilians. Residential buildings and a coke plant were destroyed.
The past day in the Pokrov community was relatively calm. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repulsed the enemy. Representatives of the local Territory defense were on duty in the Pokrovsk community.
The city authorities continue to receive appeals from private homeowners to record the facts of damage caused by the shelling on May 25th, 2022.
Representatives of the city authorities of the Pokrovsk community handed over overalls to employees of enterprises involved in the city maintenance, community journalists and territorial defense. In addition to bulletproof vests, the patrons received overalls, plates and a thermal imager. This became possible thanks to the support of Metinvest, which has been deploying a humanitarian front since the very first days of the war.
Bakhmut
The invaders are trying to improve the tactical situation in the Bakhmut sector. With the support of mortar and artillery fire, the enemy conducted offensive and assault operations in the areas of the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Vasylivka, Komyshuvakha and Myronivka. Russian troops were unsuccessful, suffered losses, and retreated. The enemy’s army aviation inflicted air strikes near Yakovlivka.
Due to the tense security situation, the movement of buses on city routes has been temporarily suspended.
On May 28, the russians killed two civilians in the Donetsk Oblast: in Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Three more people were wounded.
The coordinator of the AUI “Active Community” provided consultations on receiving humanitarian aid.
Mariupol
The invaders dump the bodies of the dead in Mariupol in supermarkets. The adviser to the mayor of the city shared information that a dumping ground for bodies was arranged in the premises of the Shchyryi Kum store.
All the streets are filled with garbage that has not been taken out since the beginning of the war. Garbage clogs storm drains, so light rain turns into rivers and carries garbage further through the city. Civilians collect water from dug wells. All these factors can provoke an epidemic collapse in Mariupol.
At the same time, the invaders plunder the city. Metals are exported from the port of Mariupol.
Luhansk Oblast
The fighting for Severodonetsk continues.
Over the past day, 60 houses were damaged in the Luhansk Oblast as a result of russian shelling. Two people were killed in Lysychansk and Severodonetsk.
Southern oblasts
Mykolaiv Oblast
Over the past day, russian shelling caused three fires in the Oblast.
In the morning, russians fired at the city of Mykolaiv. A man was killed while walking in the street in order to get some water.
In the Mykolaiv Oblast, the number of unemployed increased by 40% compared to the same period in 2021. There are also fewer vacancies in the oblast.
Central oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
The enemy shelled the Zelenodolsk community. The church building was damaged.
A missile attack was launched on the city of Kryvyi Rih. As a result, a factory was destroyed.
Kirovohrad Oblast
An air raid alarm sounded signaling a threat of a missile strike.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine guarded the oblast’s borders and military facilities.
The Territorial Defense fighters kept watch at checkpoints and patrolled the city together with the police.
The situation in the community is under control. The community lives a peaceful life.
Today, on May 29, hosted the “I Open Oleksandria” Charity Table Tennis Rating Tournament dedicated to the 276th anniversary of the founding of the city and the second anniversary of the opening of the Tornado Table Tennis Club sports complex. The tournament was attended by 38 contenders from 10 cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Kremenchuk, Kryvyi Rih, Odessa, Cherkasy, Poltava, Zolotonosha, and Oleksandria. The winners were received cash rewards, cups and certificates. Upon completion of the competition, part of the membership fees and charitable donation from the president of the Tornado TTC and the organizer of the tournament, Oleh Hushlevskyi, in the total amount of 10,500 hryvnias were transferred for the needs of the army.
More than 24,000 hryvnias were raised for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at a charity concert-auction in Oleksandria.
Commuter train № 6334 resumes its full-fledged running on the route Pomichna-Znamianka-Oleksandria.
The coordinator of AUI “Active Community” took part in weaving camouflage nets.
Poltava Oblast
It is calm in the oblast. There was no fighting.
Volunteering is very active in the city. “Defense of Poltava” is one of the most powerful centers. There, volunteers weave camouflage nets, sew “kikimori” (camouflage suits), complete individual first aid kits, hand out food and medicine to soldiers, create military merch, and much more. The oblast administration works closely with the “Defense of Poltava”.
Dmytro Lunin handed over 5 generators to the volunteer center “Defense of Poltava”. Volunteers will send them to the front. Autonomous power supply to deployment sites is very important for defenders.
Volunteers continue to raise funds for thermal imagers for Poltava soldiers, who are currently fighting in the east, south and defending Kharkiv oblast. More than UAH 1’042’000 have already been collected, a little less than UAH 400’000 remain.
Vinnytsia Oblast
Khmilnyk
The past day in the Khmilnyk community passed quietly. There were single air alarms. Utilities work in a regular mode.
Today Kozyatyn (Khmilnyk raion) paid last tribute to Artur Turlyak, one of the Heroes of the special unit “KORD” (Corps of operative-sudden action), who died in the Zaporizhzhia oblast from a missile strike.
Vinnytsia Oblast Puppet Theater prepared a puppet show for children, which took place in the city house of culture. After watching it, a group of specialists (practical psychologists) of the communal institution “Inclusive Resource Center of Kozyatyn City Council of Vinnytsia Oblast” worked with the children.
Coordinators of AUI “Active Community” of Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk raion O. Tanenok and N. Mashir talked to IDPs, who moved from hot spots and settled in Khmilnyk, regarding financial assistance. Internally displaced persons can receive financial assistance with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the framework of the Multi-Purpose Financial Assistance Program for Ukrainians who are forced to flee the war. 1,200 families (more than 2,200 people), who are internally displaced persons and live in the community, are registered to receive assistance. 1,650 people have already received such assistance through Ukrposhta.
Western Oblasts
Rivne Oblast
The general situation is relatively calm, there were no air alarms.
Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine patrol the border with belarus.
Representatives of the local Territorial Defense unit patrol and are on duty at checkpoints.
Luhansk Oblast Clinical Oncology Dispensary has moved to Rivne oblast. The medical facility was relocated to the oblast due to russia’s military aggression. It is currently located in local hospitals.
Today in Rivne the last honor was paid to the soldiers of the special unit “KORD” (Corps of operative-sudden action) from Rivne oblast, who died while on duty. Five courageous soldiers who have repeatedly defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the ATO/JFO zone gave their lives in the fight against the russian aggressor for the Motherland.
Instead of flowers for the Last Bell holiday – tactical first aid kits for the military. Graduates of 9th and 11th grades of Klesiv Lyceum on their own initiative raised funds to sew bags for military tactical first aid kits. They also bought medicine for 50 such kits, which will go to the forefront. The village council helped to complete them.
Chernivtsi Oblast
A short-lived air alarm sounded in the oblast last night, and the situation is calm and under control.
In the war against the russian occupiers, brave Bukovynian soldiers died – senior sergeant Oleg Kholyavchuk, chief sergeant Yuri Nesteryuk and soldier Petro Shkuta.
Within three months, the Sokyrian City United Territorial Community sent 16 cars of various types and purposes to the front line.
In Chernivtsi, the French distribute humanitarian aid to internally displaced persons, as well as take aid to Mykolayiv. They say they could not watch the war on television, so they came to help.
Chernivtsi oblast is one of the most popular for business relocation: more than a hundred companies have already moved here.
Zakarpattia Oblast
More than fifty IDPs who took refuge in Uzhhorod, including schools №№2, 3, 8 and 19, as well as NVK “Harmony”, went today by three buses to the sanatorium “Polyana” in Svalyava. There they will be provided with free comfortable living conditions, food and other services provided by the sanatorium.
Camouflage nets are woven in Uzhgorod at 4-5 locations, but volunteers sadly note that productivity has decreased. If earlier 3-4 nets were woven at the location at the same time, now only one. People began to return to their main job, and many of the settlers who helped weave the nets returned to the liberated cities.
On the building in Uzhgorod, four artists are painting the mural Girl, which symbolizes Ukraine. Work on the mural began on May 27 and they are doing it for free. There are plans to paint two murals: on Leo Tolstoy Street and on Svobody Avenue.
The Inspiration cafe educational hub for IDP children has been operating in Uzhhorod for about a month.
86 students are already studying before studying on the platform licensed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and under the supervision of teachers. In addition to lessons, children play sports, implement interesting mini-projects, and participate in volunteer work. Immigrant teachers are also employed here. Training is provided for free.
