About us: The “Active Community” initiative was launched by activists of the “Republika” Institute after the Euromaidan (2014), which focused on the activation and involvement of Ukrainians in the decision-making process. The goal for 2025: to activate and involve at least 1% of citizens in making decisions and promoting reforms in Ukraine on a systematic basis for the well-being of Ukrainian communities. Today we work in 30 communities in Ukraine.

Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, the head of the Committee of the German Bundestag, arrived in Kyiv today.

A UNESCO Office is to be opened in Kyiv by the end of 2022. Its functions should include monitoring the situation of damaged cultural heritage sites and coordinating immediate assistance.

The residential high-rise building in Pozniaky district, which was shelled by russians on the night of February 25, has already been restored.  

30 buses will be sent as aid from Kyiv to Dnipro, which will run on the routes of public transport. 10 of them will be sent to Dnipro loaded with humanitarian aid.

Kyiv Oblast

The infrastructure of Bucha raion was significantly damaged because of the russians. The housing sector, including high-rise residential buildings, has also been damaged. Currently, more than 100 such residential buildings have been restored, and repair works are undertaken on more than 100 more in Bucha raion.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr oblast, the representatives of the local authorities together with the National Security and Defense Council, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and border guards inspected the fortified defense lines of Zhytomyr oblast from the Ukrainian-Belarusian border deep into Zhytomyr oblast.

The medicines, food, baby food, hygiene products, thermal underwear, and generators were sent to Kupiansk and Shevchenkove which are the two de-occupied cities of Kharkiv oblast, from Zhytomyr.

There is no electricity supply in Kharkiv, so there is an acute need for these goods.

The trench candles for the military are being made in Zhytomyr City Center of Registration of the Homeless. Almost two hundred of the trench candles were made during the week. The first set of them has already been handed over to the volunteers.

In Zhytomyr, children and youth with disabilities are making baked goods for soldiers in the military hospitals, at a social workshop. During two hours, children and youth are working with dough under the guidance of the social rehabilitation specialists. The young bakers say they are happy to help those who protect them.

Chernihiv Oblast

Yesterday at about 18:00, the border guards recorded 15 explosions, tentatively from the self-propelled artillery, near the village of Kamianska Sloboda in Novgorod-Siversk raion.

In Pryluky, Sergeant Ruslan Semyrozum, who perished in Donetsk oblast, was said goodbye to.

Sumy Oblast

The defender of Ukraine from Romny raion was said goodbye to in Sumy oblast. Vitalii Malysh was killed on October 2 while performing a combat task in Kherson oblast.

Eastern Oblasts 

Kharkiv Oblast

At night, the occupants struck several industrial sites in the Osnovyansky district of Kharkiv. They have used kamikaze drones. Fires broke out, there is partial destruction of non-residential buildings. There were no casualties. 

In the Kharkiv oblast, the occupants shelled Kupiansk and Vovchansk raions, as well as settlements of Bohodukhiv and Kharkiv raions: Udy, Veterynarne, Strilecha, and Krasne.

During the day 3 men were hospitalized who were wounded as a result of shelling in Kupyansk raion Kharkiv oblast.  

At the recreation complex which is in the village of Novoplatonivka of the Borivska community, investigators found the bodies of two handcuffed men with gunshot wounds. According to preliminary data, the men were killed by russian special forces, which during the occupation of the settlement were stationed at the stated base consisting of 250-350 people with periodic rotation.

In the de-occupied village of Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi, law enforcement officers found two bodies of men with their hands tied, approximately 60 years old. One of the victims had bruises on the neck and chest, the other one had a gunshot wound on the chest and groin area.

The Izyum raion is gradually returned to life. Units of the State Emergency Service are actively demining and dismantling the rubble of buildings to be restored, including high-rise residential buildings. For this purpose, additional units from the western regions of Ukraine were involved. The restoration of the infrastructure, in particular road and transport, continues. The humanitarian headquarters is working, where food, clothing and hygiene goods are evenly distributed.

Donetsk Oblast

Over $26 billion – this is the minimum amount of damage caused by russia to Donetsk oblast as of June 1. The Ukrainian government conducted a preliminary assessment of the damage together with a group from the World Bank and the European Commission. Housing (40% of the total destruction), transport (31%), trade, and industry (10%) suffered the most from the Russian invasion. A quarter of all damage caused to Ukraine is in Donetsk oblast. 

On October 5, russians killed 4 civilians in Donetsk oblast – 3 in Torske and 1 in Zarichne.

In addition, 10 more civilians killed by russians during the occupation were found in the liberated cities: 5 in Sviatohirsk and 5 in Lyman.

In total, 937 civilians in Donetsk oblast have been killed by russian aggression since February, and another 2323 have been wounded. The number of casualties in Mariupol and Volnovakha remains unknown. 

Kramatorsk

The enemy continues shellings in Kramatorsk direction – near Verkhnekamianske, Ivanivka, Serebryanka and Spirne.

A mass burial was found in liberated Lyman. There might be bodies of the soldiers and civilians. Now law enforcement officers and forensic experts are working at the site. Currently, the exact number of buried people cannot be stated.

The President posthumously awarded the medal to Ruslan Glushych, the defender of Ukraine from Kramatorsk, who died on March 22, 2022.

The private joint-stock company Donetskoblgaz begins the process of resuming gas supply to household consumers. Applications are still being gathered using the application form. This application form is necessary for the formation of registers of household consumers who needs to restore gas supply for further work on the actual restoration.

This Saturday, the second territorial center of social services, the department of social services “Our Kramatorsk” opens its doors in Kyiv. It will work from Monday till Saturdays. It will provide humanitarian, social, psychological and legal assistance to Kramatorsk residents who were forced to move to Kyiv and Kyiv oblast.

The regional coordinator of the “Active Community” took part in the meeting on the evacuation of the local population and the supply of humanitarian aid to the de-occupied territories. However, for security reasons, there is no free access to the communities for everyone.  

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion 

There is one wounded in Pokrovsk raion – in Kostyantynivka of Maryinka community. Also, there were explosions in Kurakhove, Avdiivka, and Ocheretyne communities, there were no casualties.

In the Kurakhove community, russians shelled Hostre – 1 detached house was destroyed, 2 high-rise residential buildings were damaged. At night, there were sporadic attacks on Avdiivka, and in the morning – tank shelling of the old part of the city. In the Ocheretyne community in the morning, russians shelled Kamyanka.

In honor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a sambo competition took place in Dnipro. The competition among children and young men was attended by 50 wrestlers from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

Donetsk oblast was represented by Dmytro Larin, who is an athlete of Sport Club “Bars” and Sports Complex “Olimpiyskyi”, from Pokrovsk. According to the results of the individual competition in the weight category up to 42 kg (age group – born in 2011-2012), he took first place in the section “sports sambo” and first place in the section “combat sambo”.

Bakhmut

In the direction of Bakhmut, the russian aggressor opened fire on such settlements as Bilogorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Odradivka, Mayorsk, New York and Yuryivka.

On the Horlivskyi direction, Toretsk, Soledar and Svitlodar communities came under fire – no casualties.

Kurdyumivka was shelled in the Toretsk community at night – at least 6 private houses and 1 two-story house were damaged. In the Soledar community, two houses were destroyed in Paraskoviivka. Odradivka and Mayorsk stations in the Svitlodar community were also shelled at night.

There were several shellings of Siversk in the Lysychansk direction – without casualties. The extent of destruction is being clarified.

Firewood and coal for heating high-rise buildings and private houses will be distributed free of charge in Bakhmut. Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Marchenko informed about this. Now the authorities are solving the issue of delivering coal and firewood to the city, because there are not many people willing to go to Bakhmut.

The coordinator of “Active Community” Lilia Dudnyk held 3 lessons in Cherkasy schools on anti-bullying. They took place within the framework of the “Vilnohub” project.

Luhansk Oblast

The Ukrainian military liberated six settlements of Luhansk Oblast, reported the head of the Oblast Military Administration, Serhiy Gaidai.

During the forced mobilization in the Luhansk Oblast, the occupiers no longer ask about health and marital status: they take away both the sick and those with many children.

The occupiers started partial mobilization in Starobil Raion and Kreminna Raion. Partially, because supposedly these territories are already part of the russia, and a partial mobilization has been announced there.

Southern Oblasts 

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

The russian military attacked Zaporizhzhia with missiles. Rockets hit residential buildings, fires broke out. Rescuers are working on the spot. The bodies of three residents were recovered from under the destroyed structures. 13 people were injured. Among them is a three-year-old child. They are in medical facilities. In total, the rescuers managed to pull out 21 people from under the rubble. 

Kherson Oblast

As a result of the mass shelling of the russian troops from rocket salvo systems and artillery, there are dead and injured people in the villages of the Berislav Raion. Destroyed private houses, garages, power lines. Residents of the de-occupied villages report that in their absence, russian soldiers lived in the houses, looted property and staged a pogrom. The police opened 7 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes. 

Russian soldiers destroyed an orchard and farm property in Bilozersk community. In Kherson, the russian military stole two passenger cars that were being repaired there from a service station. Two grocery stores were robbed in Nova Kakhovka. Trade equipment and products worth hundreds of thousands of hryvnias were taken away, according to the police of the Kherson Oblast.

In the Kherson Oblast, leaving the settlements, the russian military destroys infrastructure facilities and private residences, forbids any movement of local residents.

The armed forces of Ukraine liberated more than 400 square kilometers of the Kherson Oblast from the russian military and are advancing further. 8 settlements were de-occupied: Lyubimivka, Khreschenivka, Zolota Balka, Bilyaivka, Ukrainka, Velika Oleksandrivka, Mala Oleksandrivka, and Davydiv Brid.

Air defense units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed two “Orlan-10” drones in the Brusky district of Beryslav Raion.

Police officers of the explosives service cleared 10 hectares of the de-occupied territory of the Kherson Oblast and seized 88 units of explosive objects. 

The so-called “village head” of Beryslav Raion was charged with aiding the aggressor state. The suspect assisted the russian occupation forces in searching for pro-Ukrainian public activists and business representatives in order to rob them.

Mykolayiv Oblast

Yesterday, the settlement of Pervomaysk community was under enemy fire. As a result, residential buildings and farm buildings were damaged, and an infrastructure object was also hit.

Yesterday, there was shelling on the outskirts of the settlement of Berezneguvate community. Enemy shelling of another settlement of the community was recorded today. There are no casualties.

Also yesterday, the enemy shelled the Shiroke community, hitting open areas and agricultural lands.

Odesa Oblast

At night, from October 5 to 6, the russian occupation forces once again attacked the south of the country with “Shahed-136” kamikaze drones. Nine kamikaze drones were destroyed by the forces and means of air defense of the Southern Air Command.

On the morning of October 6, two enemy kamikaze drones “Shahed-136” and one attack drone “Mohajer-6” were eliminated by the forces and means of air defense on the approach from the sea to Mykolaiv Oblast.

The leader of the band “Ocean Elsa” Sviatoslav Vakarchuk gave a concert to soldiers from the Odesa 28th mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign. 

Central Oblasts 

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The russians bombarded Nikopol Raion all night long with rocket launchers and heavy artillery. A fire broke out in a house in Nikopol. A dozen private houses, an enterprise and power lines were damaged. Several private houses and farm buildings were mutilated in the Myrove community.

Fighters from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast died in the battles for Ukraine: Ivan Yashchenko, a resident of Kryvyi Rih, Ruslan Tereshchenko, a resident of Pavlograd, Serhiy Stolbtsov, a resident of Dnipro, Andriy Maistrenko, a resident of Marganets, Roman Zolotonog, from Zhovty Vody, and Stanislav Dudoladov, from Pershotravensk. Two policemen from the Oblast, Mykola Dzidza and Petro Andriichenko, also died in the fighting in Donbas. Two more women, injured as a result of a rocket attack on Zelenodolsk, died in the hospital.

Soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine from Kryvyi Rih installed the Ukrainian flag on the building of the village council in de-occupied Zolota Balka, Kherson Oblast.

A shelter was opened in Dnipro for women with children who were forced to leave their homes to escape the war. The premises were converted from one of the offices, beds, wardrobes and kitchen appliances were purchased. The “100% LIFE” charitable organization opened a shelter for displaced women in Dnipro. It is designed for 12 people, who will be able to stay in it for up to six months.

A social cafe was opened in Dnipro on the initiative of the “Caritas” charitable foundation. Every day, a hundred people are fed with dinner here – all the needy. During the full-scale war, benefactors prepared approximately 15,000 portions.

In the Lykhivka community of the Kamianske Raion, military personnel and displaced persons are helped with food. Local farmers share their potato and watermelon harvests. Residents fill bins with winter supplies. In the cellars – potatoes, preserves, sauerkraut. The vegetables were grown in the local “Gardens of Victory”. In total, 20 tons were collected. The land was provided by a local farmer. Another farmer planted watermelons on his farm.

The premiere of the film “Oles Honchar. The word is a weapon” by director from Dnipro Kateryna Strelchenko. In seven months, the film was shown in 15 European countries and collected more than 10,000 euros for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army (UVA).

 Kropyvnytskyi Oblast

During the war with russia, 8 defenders from Kropyvnytskyi Oblast died. Soldier Oleksiy Husakov from the city of Novoukrainka, Oleksandr But from the village of Nova Praha, Oleksandria raion, Yaroslav Barannik from Oleksandria, Ivan Mykhailiuk from the village of Petrove, Oleksandria raion have passed away. Vitaly Kucherenko from the town of Znamyanka in the Kropyvnytskyi raion, Roman Grabovskyi and Serhiy Suprun from the Onufriivka community, and Andriy Perebytyuk from the village of Smoline in the Novoukrainka raion.

The Kropyvnytskyi Oblast Military Administration handed over four thermal containers for food, as well as a set of lids for food containers, for the needs of servicemen. Thanks to them, food will keep its temperature for a long time. Thermocontainers and lids were purchased at their own expense (30,000 hryvnias) by the trade union of employees of the Kropyvnytskyi Oblast Military Administration.

During the two months of mandatory evacuation, the communities of the Oblast sheltered almost 3,500 residents of Donetsk Oblast, including 810 children. In total, almost 170,000 IDPs have passed through Kropyvnytskyi Oblast since the beginning of the full-scale war. 92 thousand of them remained to live here.

A mural was painted in Pryyutivka, Oleksandrivka raion, Kropyvnytskyi Oblast. So they wanted to decorate the entrance to the village. The mural is 60 meters long and covers an area of ​​120 square meters. The girl’s blue eyes and flowers in her hair symbolize Ukraine’s bright future. Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

Another humanitarian cargo was sent to the Kharkiv Oblast from the Rivne Oblast. In particular, it has 50 window units and 70 sleeping mattresses. Separately, 239.8 tons of food products were delivered. Among them are oil, sugar, condensed milk, cereals, cookies, coffee. 80% of the products are purchased from a local producer.

Volunteers of the International Charitable Foundation for the Revival of the “Ostroh Academy” organized a fundraiser for the purchase of a car and military equipment for one of the special purpose regiments where a teacher of the academy serves. A total of 428 benefactors contributed to this. Altogether they collected almost 239 thousand. These funds were used to purchase a four-wheel-drive Toyota bus that was prepared for military purposes, a DJI Mavic 3 drone, and 10 sound moderators (silencers for weapons).

In the city of Dubno, IDP women bake goodies for servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They plan to cook dumplings this week. They buy all the products themselves, they often donate what they receive from charity funds. Along with goodies, warm clothes, bed linen, and medicines are sent to the front.

In Tarakaniv, Dubno raion, students of the Jura Cossack-Knight Education Circle make trench candles for the military. The children joined the initiative almost a month ago. During this time, about 800 candles were made, some of which were already sent to the front line.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

This morning, during an air raid alert, the enemy struck the Shepetivka raion of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast. One rocket fell near an infrastructure facility. There are no destructions or fires. The other fell on the wasteland. There are no dead or injured. There was also a train stop. As a result of the rocket impact, the tree fell on the railway track. Train movement has resumed.

The paintings of the Mariupol artist Andriy Kutan, rescued from the occupied city, were presented in Khmelnytskyi. Volunteers with the support of patron Anatoliy Boyko helped take out more than a hundred canvases. 15 of them are exhibited in the exhibition hall of the art school. Activists of the YaMariupol center helped organize the exhibition.

Communication coordinator of “Active Community” Serhiy Tolstikhin spoke at the forum “Investment attractiveness of communities in conditions of war and post-war reconstruction”. He talked about the development of green tourism during a full-scale war based on the implementation of the “Active Community” project in Stara Ushytsia community, in particular, about the relocation of businessmen from large cities to small communities for the further implementation of their projects.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Together with the charity foundation “World Central Kitchen” in Kamianets-Podilskyi, targeted food aid was provided to families of the community raising children with disabilities.

The NGO “Cooking Hundred of Podillia”, which prepares dry rations for participants of territorial defense of Kamianets-Podilskyi, received a large, powerful vacuum as a gift from foreign friends through the head of the raion council. Now the packing process will be 4 times faster.

Slavko Polyatynchuk, the coordinator of “Active Community” in Kamianets-Podilskyi, handed over 1,800 hryvnias to the NGO “Cooking Hundred of Podillia”, which he collected in a box among his friends. The funds will be used to purchase products.

Chernivtsi Oblast 

Bukovyna conducted the final journey of the Hero who died defending Ukraine from the russian invaders: farewell to soldier Vitaly Filipets took place on the Alley of Glory of the Central Cemetery of Chernivtsi.

With the help of the Red Cross of Ukraine, the Samsung company delivered household appliances to the places of compact residence of the forcibly displaced people. Washing machines and microwave ovens were delivered to Novoselytsia, Vyzhnytsia, Vashkivtsi, Beregomet, Ispas and Korytne. PHOTO – 

With the support of Chernivtsi OMA, construction materials were transferred from Bukovyna to Kharkiv Oblast. It is about two wagons of bricks. It will be used to restore the infrastructure of the Oblast, which was damaged by the invaders. Assistance was provided by “Granit” LLC and the Dobrynivtsi brick factory. Cargo transportation was provided by “Budtorginvest” LLC.

Pupils of Novodnistrovsk IGSE II-III st. in Bukovina collected more than 35,000 hryvnias for the Armed Forces. Children, together with their parents and teachers, organized a charity fair in the school.

In Chernivtsi, the “Occupied Heritage” exhibition dedicated to the stone embroidery of Nova Kakhovka is underway on Cathedral Square. The main idea of ​​the project is to unite people who were forced to leave Nova Kakhovka and to tell as much as possible about the art of the Ukrainian artist Hryhoriy Dovzhenko, who recreated the elegance of the city’s architecture.

Zakarpattia Oblast

About 60 names of military ammunition are sewn by the relocated sewing enterprise in Mukachevo. It started working in Kyiv in 2014, when hostilities began in Eastern Ukraine. And this year, at the end of February, it was transferred to Mukachevo. Medical carriers for wounded soldiers, belt-shoulder systems for machine guns are sewn here. Young athletes competed at the Uzhhorod “Avangard” stadium. About 200 students from 17 schools of the city took part in the competition. Winners were determined in both individual and team competitions.

A wildlife photo exhibition was held in the Synevyr National Park in Zakarpattia. Animal Protection Day is another reason to remind people of their responsibility, to raise public awareness of the need to protect animals regardless of where they live.
