Northern oblasts

Kyiv

The Vice President of the Bundestag arrived in Kyiv on a visit to familiarize herself with the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

Also today, the President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen arrived in Kyiv, accompanied by the Austrian delegation that is traveling with a specific aid package, including the much required generators. They will meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

DTEK reported that only 350 houses in Kyiv always have electricity and cannot be turned off due to technical issues. This is only 2.8% of all buildings in the capital. At the same time, the power is turned off centrally in 11,698 (93.98%) buildings. In another 400 (3.21%) buildings, the lights are turned off manually by employees of housing offices, condominiums and other management companies.

Kyiv Oblast

Today, a gas piston power plant started operating in Irpin, which, if necessary, will make it possible to power a significant part of the city’s critical infrastructure. In particular, this includes the central boiler house, several educational and medical institutions. This power plant operates using natural gas, which significantly reduces the cost per kilowatt produced compared to diesel fuel required for generators.

Bohuslav

Heaters for the Points of Invincibility of the Bohuslav community were transferred from the raion and oblast administrations. This is reported in the City Council. The Myronivka Raion received the same kind of assistance, although, in addition to heaters, they also received blankets and peanut butter. The City Council notes that this will come in handy in the event of prolonged power outages, lack of heat, and in case of emergencies.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr, on February 1, they said goodbye to three servicemen: Andriy Stepchuk, Dmytro Balabanov, and Mykhailo Protsenko. Andriy Stepchuk received his officer’s rank at the military department of the Zhytomyr Military Institute named after S.P. Korolev. With the outbreak of the full-scale russian aggression, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed in a battle with the russian invaders in the east of Ukraine. Dmytro Balabanov, from the first days of full-scale russian aggression, began his service in one of the Special Forces units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed in the battle for Ukraine on April 5, 2022, in the Kherson Oblast. Only after the liberation of the south of Ukraine from the forces of the russian occupiers was it possible to find and identify the deceased. Mykhailo Protsenko passed his conscript service in the ranks of the 95th Detached Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He received a PhD degree and was preparing to defend his doctoral thesis. He has been a combatant since 2014 and participated in the liberation of Sloviansk from the russian invaders. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he was an active participant in the defense of Kyiv from the attacks of the russian occupation forces. He died of a cardiac arrest.

In 2022, Zhytomyrgaz allocated 3 million hryvnias to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The gas distribution company JSC Zhytomyrgaz has been actively helping the Ukrainian military since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian occupiers. In 2022, the company purchased and transferred engineering equipment, office equipment, food products, medicines, communication equipment, fuel and lubricants, and construction materials for the needs of the army. In addition, the company sent 15 vehicles, sets of winter tires, camouflage clothing, household appliances and necessary tools to the combat zone and territorial defense units. 72 gas workers are currently in the ranks of defenders.

The Zhytomyrvodokanal municipal service company received a large generator as humanitarian aid from Finland with a capacity of 888 kW. This was reported by the press service of Zhytomyrvodokanal on February 1.

Military uniforms from the Poroshenko Foundation and the ROSHEN Corporation have already begun to arrive to the defenders of the Zhytomyr Oblast. One of the raion’s military units and the 190th training center received 152 sets, and more than 300 sets were given to the glorious 95th Brigade.

Chernihiv Oblast

Today, russians shelled the Snovsk community of the Chernihiv Oblast. In the morning, the military reported two hits, probably from a 120 mm mortar, near the village of Kliusy. In the afternoon, six hits were recorded, probably from a 120 mm mortar, in the direction of the village of Yeline.

Today, Sergeant Mykola Kovalyov, who was killed in the Donetsk Oblast, was escorted on his final journey in Horodnia.

Sumy Oblast

On January 31, the russian military shelled five communities in the Sumy Oblast: Shostka, Seredyna-Buda, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, and Yunakivka. In the evening, an explosion thundered on the territory of one of Shostka’s state-owned enterprises. According to preliminary information, an enemy missile hit the industrial building. Russian soldiers were firing mortars at the territory of the Krasnopillia community since the morning. They launched 21 mortar shells. An enemy UAV dropped two explosive devices (VOG grenades) on the territory of the Yunakivka community. The Bilopillia community was shelled with artillery – one hit. The enemy also fired mortars – 11 hits. Mortar shelling of the Seredyna-Buda community was recorded – first 4, and then 3 more hits.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Today at 7:30 in the morning, the enemy shelled Kupiansk again. As a result of the shelling, a 60-year-old man sustained a shrapnel wound and was hospitalized.

Last day, the occupiers continued shelling the border settlements in the Kupiansk, Chuhuiv, and Kharkiv raions of the oblast.

Yesterday, attacks were recorded, according to the preliminary information by two S-300 missiles, on the village of Shypuvate, Kupiansk Raion. The missiles hit the ground near the House of Culture. There were no casualties.

In the village of Dvorichna, Kupiansk Raion, the shelling smashed windows in one of the buildings of the State Emergency Service and damaged a rescue vehicle.

Donetsk Oblast

Over the past day, Ukrainian Defense Forces units repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of the settlements of Yampolivka, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Blahodatne, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, and Paraskoviivka of the Donetsk Oblast.

In the Donetsk sector, the village of Dachne of the Kurakhove community came under fire, and sporadic shelling of Avdiivka and the Maryinka community were registered. There were no reports of casualties.

On January 31, the russians killed 4 residents of the Donetsk Oblast: 2 in Bakhmut, 1 in Paraskoviivka, and 1 in Vuhledar. Six more people in the oblast were wounded.

Since February 24, the russians have killed 1,339 civilians in the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 2,939. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the Avdiivka sector, Berdychi, Tonenke, Severne, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, and Pobeda were shelled.

As part of the memorandum of cooperation signed between the Pokrovsk City Military Administration and the Kimonix company, acting on behalf of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Fastiv, Kyiv Oblast, the construction of a residential building for internally displaced persons from the Pokrovsk community is underway.

In Uman, IDP women and children made trench candles for Ukrainian defenders. Specialists of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Uman City Council in cooperation with representatives of the social hub in Uman “Avdiivka. Free people. So it was, so it will be” held a master class for local women and women with children from among IDPs on making trench candles for the defenders of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

The enemy does not stop offensive operations in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions and suffers great losses. It conducts unsuccessful offensive actions in the Avdiivka and Novopavlivka areas.

In the Bakhmut direction, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Druzhba and Maiorsk of the Donetsk Oblast came under enemy fire.

In Bakhmut, two people were killed, six more were wounded. The russians fired intensively on Paraskoviivka of the Soledar community. Rozdolivka, Fedorivka, and Vasiukivka also came under fire. It was also loud on the outskirts of the Chasiv Yar community.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

In the Volnovakha direction in Vuhledar it has been clarified the information regarding one person who died in the city earlier. Vuhledar and Novoukrainka are under fire. The day before, the russians launched a rocket attack on the Komar community. Five houses in the village of Shevchenko were damaged, there were hits on the territory of Burlatske. There are without casualties.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

In the afternoon, Kramatorsk shuddered from powerful explosions. The enemy hit an industrial zone and a cemetery. “the russians shelled Kramatorsk. In the cemetery. With a rocket on the cemetery… …They loosened the graves. Moral freaks? Probably. But for them it is probably the opposite – a moral norm. There is no forgiveness, even after death.” Oleksandr Honcharenko, the head of the Kramatorsk military administration commented.

An industrial enterprise in Slovoansk was also hit today.

Mariupol

In occupied Mariupol, hot lunches are still served on the streets. And this despite loud statements of the invaders that all the houses in the city have heat and gas. In reality, hot food is still in short supply.

Luhansk Oblast

In the so-called “LNR” the retirement age is being increased to 65, the russian government announced. They are developing a draft law in which it is proposed to make a transition to the all-russian retirement age in the occupied regions by December 31, 2032. It is noted that due to the lack of unified pension legislation in the territories captured in 2014 and in 2022, the grounds for retirement there also differ, including the grounds for early retirement for different categories of workers. Until this date, regional pension supplements will be in effect, which residents of the so-called “new russian regions” will be able to receive before reaching the generally established retirement age.

A humanitarian cargo from the UKRAINE POWER charity fund was delivered to Nevske. These are electric generators, gas heaters, and gas containers.

South oblasts

Odesa Oblast

The day passed peacefully. There is still a danger of missile attacks.

Mr. Andreas Huber, director of the cooperation program of the Swiss Confederation Embassy in Ukraine, came to Odesa on a regular basis. During the meeting with the mayor Gennady Trukhanov, Mr. Huber congratulated Odesa on its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List and introduced the mayor to Mr. Hans Ulrich Salzmann, a Swiss architect who has extensive experience in cooperation with UNESCO and is ready to help Odesa in this work. “We are grateful to Switzerland for the great humanitarian aid to our city, for accepting our large families and, unconditional gratitude, for supporting us in issues related to UNESCO and we look forward to further cooperation,” said Trukhanov.

Also at the meeting, the mayor presented the project of the Priority Development Zone. “This is a free economic zone, which has not yet been implemented due to the war, but after our Victory, the work will definitely be continued!”, the mayor added.

Odesa received two more SUVs from international partners. The equipment is not prohibited for military use. One off-road vehicle has been given to a group that is engaged in searching for fallen Heroes and transporting the remains for burial with all honors. This is the second car that the city authorities have provided to the search team. The second SUV was handed over to the Odesa battalion of the National Police “Tsunami”. “The special forces battalion was formed last year at the end of March. Since then, “Tsunami” has been in the same formation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After the liberation of the Kherson Oblast, the battalion performs tasks in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Therefore, the high-speed car with high cross-country ability provided by us will be very useful for the further liberation of Ukrainian lands,” said the mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov.

People are united and active, volunteer, and take part in charity events.

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday, the enemy carried out artillery strikes on the settlement of the Ochakiv community. Infrastructure facilities were damaged. There are no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska districts, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

The russian military shelled the settlements in the Pology and Vasylivka directions again. Residential and civil infrastructure facilities, vehicles, and an educational institution were damaged. There was no information about the victims.

Ten deported residents were able to escape from the captivity of the occupiers to Zaporizhzhia. Russian occupiers closed the main evacuation route for residents under occupation 45 days ago. Instead, every week the propaganda mass media broadcast videos about how Ukrainians are deported outside the borders of the occupation.

On camera, they are sent to walk 10 km through the “gray zone” in the direction of Zaporizhzhia, which is controlled by Ukraine, with almost no belongings. But the deportees disappeared outside the cells. They were probably taken back as prisoners, forced to dig trenches, and possibly worse crimes were committed against them. And on the evening of January 31, 10 deported people still managed to escape from captivity. They walked on the “road of life”. The Ukrainian side delivered them to Zaporizhzhia. These are the first residents this year who were able to escape from the occupation. The mayor of Melitopol told about it.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

26-year-old Dmytro Musin from Dnipro died in the battle in Donbas, covering the departure of his comrades. He was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree. Vitalii Hordienko, a physical education teacher from Marhanets, also died in the fighting.

The russians shelled the Marganets community (Nikopol Oblast) again. As a result, the building of a private enterprise and the power grid were damaged. Shells hit the warehouse of the farm. More than thirty families were left without electricity. The enemy also fired at the Myrove and Velykomykhailivka communities.

In Dnipro, the police detained a 38-year-old militant of the so-called “Luhansk people’s republic”.

The Dnipro City Council delivered 25 radio stations with equipment, almost a dozen drones and other technical equipment to the Ukrainian defenders.

Volunteers of the NGO “MARTIN-Club” went around the apartments in the block on the Peremoha housing estate in Dnipro, where the tragedy occurred on January 14 (as a result of a russian missile hitting). Social workers, psychologists, lawyers, case managers from the Center for Helping Survivors, mobile brigades and the humanitarian hub workers visited nearby houses, talked with residents, asked each family about their needs for help, and compiled lists. GO “MARTIN-club” also provided psychologists’ help for children and adults, legal consultations, humanitarian and material support (products, household chemicals, blankets, clothes), and offered comfortable temporary housing (a shelter in Dnipro and a social building in the village of Orlivshchyna).

Dnipro schools received 2 Ford Transit minibuses from the city of Cologne (Germany). Among other tasks, these buses will transport internally displaced children around the city.

Kryvyi Rih inventors have created a device for people with visual impairments that helps to navigate in space. It is equipped with ultrasonic sensors that detect obstacles, and this information is transmitted to the user through vibration.

In Dnipro, with the assistance of the city council, free training courses for the manager’s secretary and operator in information processing and software were organized for internally displaced persons. The training was organized on the basis of the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution “Dnipro Oblast Vocational Training Center”. It will last three weeks.

In Dnipro, students and masters of the Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth decorate the tubes from mines with Petrykivka painting. With these mines, the Ukrainian military actively repels the enemy at the front. Such tubes can be purchased for a donation. All collected funds will go to help the 232nd Dnipro battalion.

In Dnipro, an American volunteer taught internally displaced children how to cook authentic Italian pizza. More than 76 young “chefs” have already attended the cooking lessons of a foreign volunteer. Corey Watson is a real professional, he learned to make pizza in Naples. The man came to Ukraine with a specific mission – to help people cope with the psychological consequences of the war.

Kirovohrad Oblast

There was a threat of a missile strike on populated areas and critical infrastructure facilities in Kirovohrad Oblast.

The head of the Kirovohrad Oblast Military Administration, Andrii Raikovych, called on residents to strictly adhere to the rules of energy saving, in order to achieve justice in observing shutdown schedules.

Internally displaced persons from Luhansk Oblast can apply for help at the Assistance Coordination Center in Kropyvnytskyi. Here, not only the provision of humanitarian aid is organized, but also counseling of war-affected people on urgent issues. Here, IDPs from Luhansk Oblast can contact a doctor, a psychologist and representatives of humanitarian organizations.

Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

Today, a solemn farewell ceremony was held in Rivne to the fallen soldier Oleksandr Shegera. Oleksandr Shegera, a 40-year-old senior soldier, died on January 23 while performing a combat mission in the settlement of Vodiane (Donetsk Oblast).

In the Smyha community, the Hero and countryman Vadym Kuzmych was solemnly buried. The soldier died on January 23 as a result of artillery fire while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Alexandropil (Donetsk Oblast)

The Zdolbuniv community purchased three cars for Ukrainian defenders, compatriots who are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Cars for the military were bought with the funds collected by the Zdolbuniv city council. One of the cars was handed over to the deputy of the city council, Yurii Pshenychnyi, who has been fighting since the first day of the full-scale invasion and is currently on vacation for the first time.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Bukovyna mourns for Hero, who gave his life defending his Motherland from the russian invasion: a solemn farewell to soldier Anatolii Filipchuk was held in the village of Kyseliv.

The Chernivtsi Oblast Military Administration handed over awards to the families of fallen servicemen. “No feat will be forgotten. I thank you and bow before you for your sons, husbands, fathers, brothers,” said the head of the oblast military administration Ruslan Zaparaniuk.

In the oblast center, reports about possible mining of educational institutions were checked. No dangerous objects were found.

In Chernivtsi, the Center for Helping Survivors has started its work. The center provides complex social and psychological support to people who have left the zone of active hostilities and/or temporarily occupied territories. This is a place where lawyers will help IDPs solve issues related to registration, restoration, obtaining documents, and psychologists will provide consultations. Case managers will help solve individual cases faced by war victims.

A kindergarten for children was opened in the “City of Kindness” crisis center for mothers with children. A playground and a recreation area were set up there. Residents of the crisis center can leave their children in kindergarten while they work or are on duty at the center.
