Northern oblasts
Kyiv
At noon, up to half a hundred Kherson citizens gathered on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kyiv. They greeted Kherson and each other on the City Day, and set flags in honor of those killed in the russian-Ukrainian war.
Today in Kyiv, they said goodbye to Oleksandr Shapoval, a ballet soloist of the National Opera and Ballet Theater, who fell at the front fighting the russian invaders near Maiorsk.
Kyiv Oblast
Repairs of shelters in 22 educational institutions are ongoing in the Kyiv Oblast in cooperation with UNICEF. One of them is Bucha Lyceum No. 5. Repair work has to be completed within a month.
“Dobrobat” volunteers helped clear the rubble of 22 houses and repair the roofs of 8 houses in Irpin.
Chilean architect Cristian Wittig will help with the reconstruction of Irpin. Currently, he is already working on the development of four architectural projects.
Chernihiv Oblast
Yesterday, russian troops shelled the Snovsk community with 120 mm mortars. 14 mortar shells were fired from the area of the russian settlement of Kirillovka.
Sumy Oblast
Yesterday, russians fired at three communities of the Sumy Oblast: Seredyna-Buda, Bilopillia, and Shalyhyne. Houses and property of civilians were damaged in the Bilopillia and Shalyhyne communities.
Eastern oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
Around 1 a.m., the occupiers shelled the territory of the Chuhuiv community. A fire broke out in a non-residential complex of buildings.
During the past day, the enemy massively shelled the Kharkiv and Chuhuiv raions; also, shelling of the Kupiansk and Izium raions was recorded. Residential buildings and outbuildings, gas stations, garages and production facilities were destroyed. In Kupiansk, a 5-story residential building was damaged.
In the village of Strilecha, Kharkiv Raion, medics tried to evacuate patients of a psychiatric hospital. Medical workers tried to save patients even under fire. They managed to evacuate 30 patients out of the total of more than 600 staying in the institution. During the evacuation, the russians began massive shelling. 4 medical workers were killed, and 2 patients were wounded.
A number of civilians were hospitalized with wounds and injuries in the oblast: 5 in the Kupiansk Raion, 3 in the Kharkiv Raion, 2 in the Izium Raion, and 1 in the Chuhuiv Raion.
Investigators found a possible prison in de-occupied Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv Oblast. According to the investigation materials, the russian occupiers created a pseudo-law enforcement agency in the village of Kozacha Lopan, in the basement of which civilians were tortured. During the inspection, documents confirming the functioning of the pseudo-police department, and the apparatus used by the occupiers to torture civilians with electric shock, were seized.
Yesterday, experts of the National Police in the Kharkiv Oblast exhumed 59 bodies in Izium. Among them are civilians and the military.
The exhumation of the bodies of those killed in Izium may last almost two more weeks.
Donetsk Oblast
On the night of September 17-18, the russians fired along the entire front line.
As a result, 2 people were killed in Vuhledar, Volnovakha Raion. Explosions thundered also in the villages of Vilne Pole and Burlatske of the Komar community. The consequences are yet to be established.
In the Kurakhivka community, the russians attacked the settlement of Kurakhivka, damaging the power line. There were no casualties.
Since February 24, the russians have killed 858 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 2,153. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
In the middle of the night, the russians attacked Kramatorsk. Shells landed on the road near the hotel. One person was wounded, and the building itself was severely damaged. Utility companies promptly eliminate the consequences of shelling: they remove debris and stones scattered hundreds of meters from the crater.
In Mykolaivka, Kramatorsk Raion, the russians again hit the previously destroyed building of the Administrative Services Center. The administrative building of the Sloviansk TPP also came under fire.
The “Active Community” team contacted an organization of volunteers involved in the evacuation of the population from communities near the line of contact. They were given a batch of medicines, batteries, and other essential items to be distributed among the residents of Izium and nearby settlements.
For the children of Kramatorsk, representatives of the “Active Community” organized and conducted another class in art therapy. According to activists, this creativity-based method of psychotherapy allows young Ukrainians, whose psyche has been traumatized by the war, to overcome internal conflicts, anxiety, and fears, and find an internal resource to cope with their troubling problems.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
In the Pokrovsk Raion, the Maryinka community was shelled: Maryinka, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, and Kostiantynivka. One person was wounded in Kostiantynivka.
In the morning, the enemy carried out shelling in the Avdiivka sector, attacking Kamianka, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Opytne, and Krasnohorivka. Explosions were recorded in Avdiivka. Information about the consequences is being clarified.
The town of Rodynske of the Pokrovsk community was subjected to massive shelling: six missiles were fired. There are reports of two wounded men. They were taken to the Pokrovsk hospital in a moderate severity condition. Tentatively, the town was shelled with the S-300 system missiles. 3 buildings were damaged.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the invaders are suffering significant losses when attempting to storm the Defense Forces in the Avdiivka sector. According to the available information, more than 30 servicemen from the 1st Army Corps of the russian troops are admitted to medical institutions every day. The occupying authorities are trying in every way to restore the combat capability of the units that have suffered losses.
Bakhmut
During the last day, the enemy used tanks, mortars and artillery of various types to shell the direction of Bakhmut – Rozdolivka, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Vesela Dolyna, Zaitseve, Odradivka, Mykolaivka Druga, Maiorsk and New York.
In the Bakhmut Raion, russians shelled the Siversk, Soledar and Toretsk communities. In Shcherbynivka, three private houses were damaged, no information was received about the victims.
Mariupol
Forced mobilization began in the Mariupol Raion. Yesterday, men were caught in Mangush for the first time.
Luhansk Oblast
The head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration Serhii Gaidai said that it will not be possible to hold the heating season in the Luhansk Oblast this winter, especially in those cities that have suffered from shelling for more than four months. He also noted that the russians have destroyed almost the entire infrastructure there. Therefore, in the event of deoccupation, the authorities will ask people not to rush back home, because it is simply impossible to repair the heating system before winter.
The Ukrainian military carried out a pinpoint attack on the bus station in Svatovo of the Luhansk Oblast, where the occupiers were based.
People observe the accumulation of enemy equipment in almost all settlements close to the administrative border with other oblasts. In particular, in Troitske, Svatovo, Rubizhne, Popasna.
Due to the lack of Internet, the local population has almost no information about the front. Therefore, the occupiers do not lose the opportunity to manipulate public opinion and tell fables about their successes.
Southern oblasts
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
About 6 explosions rang out at the Verkhnii Tokmak station, which is located in the temporarily occupied territory. The railway track and related infrastructure were damaged. Now the railway route, which the russian occupiers used to supply military equipment, is damaged in two places: in Veliky Tokmak and in Melitopol. None of the local residents were injured as a result of the explosions.
Cardinal-deacon Konrad Krajewsky came under fire in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Being accompanied by priests and a military man, he went to the front line in Zaporizhzhia to deliver humanitarian aid to people who could not evacuate. There are no casualties.
Zaporizhzhia police conducted a raid in the village of Primorske, the Vasylivka Raion. In particular, they were looking for collaborators. As a result, 21 people were identified from among the residents of the settlement who could cooperate with the occupying forces or be fire adjusters.
The occupiers in Melitopol did not pay the promised 10,000 so-called “social benefits” to parents who sent their children to school to study according to the russian curriculum. Now payments are promised only in exchange for personal data.
Kherson Oblast
The Armed Forces destroyed a barge with military personnel and equipment of the russian federation. And they also destroyed the plans of the russians to restore the Antoniv railway bridge. According to the Operational Command “South”, the losses of the russian army amounted to 62 soldiers and 5 units of armored vehicles.
Yesterday, a large-scale shooting took place in the center of Kherson between mercenaries of a private military company, russian prisoners, the russian military, the FSB and Kadyrov soldiers. They shared the loot among themselves, said Mykhailo Podolyak, the adviser of the head of the President’s Office.
The russian military is checking occupied settlements. Now they are looking not only for “Ukrainian Nazis”, but also for russian soldiers who fled the battlefield, changed into civilian clothes and are trying to evacuate.
The Russian military began mass evicting residents from private settlements in Priozerne and Tryfonivka of the Kherson Oblast, as well as in the area of Chongar settlement. Under threats of death, the russians force local residents to participate in the fortification equipment of their positions.
The so-called “authority” of the Kherson Oblast created its own Novokakhovka communal service. Russians require local residents to pay for all communal services at the expense of this service. The occupation authorities also announced the “write-off” of all debts as of September 1, 2022.
Kherson activists continue to resist the russian military and the occupation authorities. They spread pro-Ukrainian graffiti and mark enemy buildings with the letter «Ї».
Mykolaiv Oblast
Yesterday, around 11:05 p.m., Mykolaiv was shelled by the russians. It is known that civil infrastructure was damaged, in particular, one of the hospitals and the garage cooperative, where the fire broke out. Also, the car caught fire due to shelling.
Enemy shelling of Ochakov was recorded yesterday afternoon. The hits were in open areas. There are no casualties. Tonight, the enemy continued shelling Ochakov. As a result, two people were seriously injured. Residential buildings were damaged. In some areas of the city there is no access to the Internet.
Also, during yesterday, the enemy struck the village of Chervone of the Voskresensk community.
Settlements of the Bereznehuvate community, located on the demarcation line, remain under constant enemy fire. Yesterday, September 17, around 11:00, the vicinity of the Bereznehuvate station came under fire.
Also yesterday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., russians shelled outside the villages of Shiroke, Chervona Dolyna, and Polyana of the Shiroke community. There were no injuries or damage.
During the day, September 17, shelling by the russians rang out on the outskirts of the village of Novooleksandrivka of the Ingulets community.
Odesa Oblast
A farewell ceremony was held in the Odesa Oblast for Dmytro Zakharchuk, a soldier who died at the front. The deceased was only 30 years old, they said goodbye to him in the Kuialnyk community.
A memorial to four officers who died on June 16 while performing a combat mission was opened in the Odesa Anti-Aircraft Brigade. The names of lieutenant colonel Serhii Mazin, captain Oleksiy Gubin, senior lieutenant Nikita Gapich and lieutenant Andriy Bosyukov are engraved.
Eight ships with agricultural products left the ports of the Odesa Oblast through the “grain corridor”. In total, ten vessels with 169.3 thousand tons of cargo are planned for the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe. However, two more are waiting for their turn and favorable conditions.
Central Oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
Last night, the Nikopol and Marganets communities of Nikopol Raion suffered from the occupiers. So, the russian army fired almost 30 shells at Nikopol at night. As a result, a 49-year-old woman and two men (26 and 82 years old) were injured. A fire broke out in the local market due to the hit of enemy shells. Several dozen high-rise buildings and private houses, farm buildings, a kindergarten, shops, administrative buildings, several cars, a gas pipeline and an electrical network were damaged.
In Marganets, 10 private residential buildings, 6 farm buildings, 2 cars, gas pipelines and a power line were damaged. 2,600 families were left without electricity. These households have already been connected to the power grid.
The Pokrovsk community (Synelnykove Raion) was also shelled. 1 person was injured.
Defenders from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast died during combat operations: 30-year-old Oleksandr Moroz from Obukhivka, 31-year-old Yulian Shlyabin, 51-year-old Ruslan Syrovyi from Kamyanske, 38-year-old Andriy Byela from Zhovti Vody, 31-year-old Artem Smirnom from Bohuslavka, 41-year-old Serhiy Lukash from Kamyanka, 24-year-old Andriy Reshetnikov.
In Kryvyi Rih, a 38-year-old employee of a utility company died during the liquidation of the consequences of an accident on hydraulic structures. To date, 2,015 cubic meters of water have been pumped out of the city.
The third charity athletics race “Together to Victory” took place in Dnipro as part of a large-scale sports project in support of the military #SPORT_наступ (#SPORT_offensive). The event was attended by more than 300 participants who decided to help Ukrainian defenders with charitable contributions. The winner of the marathon was Vadim Sapa, a resident of Zaporizhzhia.
Kirovohrad Oblast
The situation in Kirovohrad Oblast was relatively calm. The oblast is preparing for the 2022-2023 heating season. However, this is done in conditions where the russians are shelling thermal and energy infrastructure facilities. Today, local authorities work together with businesses to minimize possible threats.
In the village of Pervozvanivka (Kropyvnytskyi Raion), a charity match between the veterans of “Dynamo” (Kyiv) and the Kropyvnytskyi team “Sich” took place. About 300 thousand hryvnias were collected during the match. These funds will be used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – to purchase a car for the military.
Galina and Yevgenyi Kondrashenkos, who are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this year, bake bread for Ukrainian defenders. They live in the village of Tsybuleve (Dmytrivka community, Kropyvnytskyi Raion)t. Half a thousand loaves of bread and almost three thousand pies were baked in an old oven. Neighbors help the hostess with the dough. Galina Kondrashenko’s bread is very tasty, because she has been baking it since she was 15 years old.
Western Oblasts
Rivne Oblast
34 schools of the Rivne Oblast will receive international aid. Pivotal oblast schools will receive support from UNICEF in the equivalent of 3,000 US dollars. The funds will be used for cosmetic repairs and Wi-Fi installation. In addition, educational institutions will receive necessary things for setting up shelters: blankets, lanterns, first aid kits and hygiene kits. This program “Learning together” is an initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine. Its purpose is to support children’s education in wartime conditions and not to interrupt their studies due to cold weather.
Today, the Rivne team of the AUI “Active Community” together with partners – Youth Space “NOTA”, Rivne Oblast Library for Youth and psychologist Ludmila Odvarko – held an art therapy master class on drawing. 22 people, including internally displaced persons, took part in the event.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
Kamianets-Podilskyi
A charitable event for children and adults “Confectionery master class” was held at the City Cultural Center of Kamianets-Podilskyi. The event was supported by LLC “Ukrainian Crystal” and DJ ProBass Artem Tkachenko, the performer of the hit song “Good evening, we are from Ukraine”. 100% of the collected funds will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The coordinator of the AUI “Active Community” Slavko Polyatynchuk met with the initiative group, which included the heads of the NGO “Podilskyi Bioregion” and the publishing house “Abetka”. It was created to provide assistance, including material, to the psychoneurological dispensary, which moved from the city of Oskil (Izyum Raion, Kharkiv Oblast) to the village of Holozubyntsi (Kamianets-Podilskyi Raion). It was placed in the premises of the former Dunaivtsi tuberculosis dispensary. The initiative group enlisted the support of the “New Ukraine” Foundation, which is located in the city of Chicago (USA). So far, the activists have agreed to receive funds that will be used to purchase boilers, toilets and wash basins.
Chernivtsi Oblast
Today, Bukovyna paid the last respects to the Heroes who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. Master Sergeant Serhiy Ukrainets was ceremoniously buried in the village of Velykyi Kuchuriv, soldier Vasyl Shylypenda – in the village of Malyatyntsi.
Andriy Zaplitny from Chernivtsi won the bronze medal at the international karate competition in Azerbaijan. Traditionally, he plans to transfer the prize money to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The finalist of the show “Ukraine has talent”, the Chernivtsi music group “ZAPAL”, volunteers in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The boys perform at charity concerts and develop the cultural front. Recently, the band released the track “Oh in the meadow red viburnum”, which is now gaining popularity on YouTube.
Zakarpattya Oblast
In Uzhgorod, the movement to support the Zakarpattya military, creative volunteers of Uzhgorod, volunteers of Uzhgorod National University and caring citizens organized a charity fair. The goal is to collect at least 150 thousand hryvnias for a car for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A team of Uzhgorod doctors goes out every day on calls to patients with complex diagnoses that are not amenable to treatment. The “Hospice at Home” service aims to provide assistance to the terminally ill.
