Kyiv

He was killed in action on September 8, defending the country’s eastern borders from the aggressor.

The Estonian city of Narva plans to allocate almost 16,000 euros in aid to the Zhytomyr Oblast. The Association of Estonian Cities and Municipalities initiated the fundraiser back in June. The aid will be transferred directly to the Zhytomyr Oblast. And this aid will not be financial, but in the form of necessary goods, vehicles, etc. 

Evening Anthem of Ukraine on the banks of the Sluch River in the Zhytomyr Oblast. A brother and sister from the Mykolaiv Oblast, who were forced to travel to and settle in the Zhytomyr Oblast, perform the National Anthem of Ukraine every evening on the banks of the Sluch River. In this symbolic way, the musicians thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for another day they have lived and support the patriotic spirit of local residents. The latter respond to the melody of the Anthem with the slogans “Glory to Ukraine!” and applause.

Chernihiv Oblast

After 3 p.m. on September 16, russian troops shelled the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast. On the territory of the community, border guards recorded one explosion of an artillery projectile. The russians fired from the direction of the russian village of Skachok.

A fighter with the call sign “Buffalo”, who lost his leg during the battles for Mariupol, and 8-year-old Serhiy, who sings on the Rampart, became friends. As a sign of friendship, the boy gave the fighter a pink panama hat and hugged him tightly. 

Yesterday, the Chernihiv Oblast said goodbye to 20-year-old defender of Ukraine Yaroslav Maksymenko.

Sumy Oblast

Russian troops shelled the Seredyna-Buda and Khotyn communities of the Sumy Oblast.

Volunteers bought equipment for the military with the money of a Sumy pensioner who donated $35,000 to the army. To donate to the armed forces, the pensioner sold his own apartment.

QR codes for finding shelters have appeared in Sumy public transport. At the same time, there are also informers that allow passengers, upon hearing an air-raid alarm signal during a trip, to navigate to the nearest shelter on a particular route – the visualization is available both in printed form and downloaded into the application that displays GPS navigation.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Around 2 a.m., the occupiers attacked the Industrialnyi district of Kharkiv; 2 missile hits were recorded. As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out at one of the enterprises, later rescuers extinguished the fire. During the inspection of the explosion sites, the type of 5V55 missile of the S-300 air defense system was established.

Today, the invaders launched missile attacks on Chuhuiv. The hits caused damage to critical infrastructure, the private sector, an enterprise, and a gas station. An 11-year-old girl was killed.

450 bodies of civilians with the signs of violent death and torture were buried by the occupiers in a forest belt in Izium. Today, the law enforcement officers started the exhumation. Most of the graves don’t even have names on them. There is only a mark with a number.

The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission group will go to Izium. It may be followed by a war crimes investigation team.

The bodies of three unknown Ukrainian fighters were found in a dump in the forest of the de-occupied village of Velyki Prokhody.

Donetsk Oblast

Last night, in the Donetsk Oblast, the villages of Vilne Pole and Burlatske in the Komar community came under artillery fire. There were no casualties, the extent of the damage is being established.

In Soledar, the russians damaged a private house – there were no casualties.

On September 16, the russians killed 2 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast: in Sviatohirsk and Bakhmut. Another 11 people were wounded.

In other sectors, the enemy fired from tanks, mortars, and artillery, namely: in the Bakhmut sector they shelled Bilohorivka, Rozdolivka, Vyimka, Odradivka, Soledar, Mykolaivka Druha, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Yakovlivka, Vesela Dolyna, Vesele, and Maiorsk.

This morning, russian occupiers fired at the Sloviansk TPP. The equipment at the power plant was damaged. The fire caused by the shelling was put out by rescuers.

Because of the shelling in the city of Mykolaivka, interruptions in water supply began. The occupiers are deliberately targeting the infrastructure facilities in the oblast, trying to cause as much damage as possible, primarily to the civilian population.

Today, the enemy heavily fired at Kostyantynivka. As a result, 5 people were wounded, including one child.

From now on, unauthorized entry into the territory of the de-occupied territorial communities of the oblast is prohibited in the Donetsk Oblast. The ban will be in effect until the completion of stabilization measures in these settlements. The corresponding order was signed by the chairman of the oblast state administration, the head of the oblast military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, in pursuance of the order of the Commander of the operational-strategic grouping of troops “Khortytsia”. According to it, from September 16, 2022, the corresponding measures of a special regime for entry and exit, the movement of vehicles to the de-occupied territories are introduced.

Kramatorsk

The vicinity of Kramatorsk was hit by a missile. As a result, a private house in the village of Vasylivka was destroyed. 31 private houses were damaged. At least five residents were injured, one of them is a minor.

HUB “Nash Kramatorsk” [“Our Kramatorsk”] representative office opened in Dnipro. Registrars record the needs of internally displaced persons from Kramatorsk, advise them and provide the necessary assistance. While the adults take care of their business, their children are entertained by specialists. There is also an office of a therapist from the Kramatorsk Center of Family Medicine №1. All Kramatorsk people who are in Dnipro and the oblast can apply to the center.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

That night, the villages of Avdiivka and Mariinka (Pokrovsk Raion) came under artillery fire. There were no casualties, the extent of the damage is being determined.

The Selydove community (Pokrovsk Raion) was subjected to large-scale shelling yesterday. In 20 minutes, at least 23 high-rise buildings, kindergarten, 3 educational institutions and administration buildings were damaged. Russian shells killed and wounded civilians.

In the last day, four more residents of Selydove were injured as a result of shelling. 

Mariupol

Preparation for the heating season continues. The occupiers are bringing 4,500 heaters to Mariupol, and this is only the first batch.

Luhansk Oblast

Occupiers are demolishing houses in Severodonetsk. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, 90% of the territory in Severodonetsk has been damaged. More than 60% of residential buildings were damaged by russian artillery and airstrikes. Most of the housing has critical damage and cannot be restored. The units of the russian ministry of emergency situations were instructed to “finish off” the buildings that were not completely destroyed by artillery fire.

Guerrillas in Luhansk Oblast cut the wheels of “people’s militia” [occupation police] cars.

Many collaborators were not let through the border with the russian federation. They are located in settlements all around and are waiting for the moment to break out abroad.

Southern Oblasts

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Last day, russian troops conducted shelling in the areas of 25 settlements in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. As a result, the police received 37 reports about the destruction of civil infrastructure objects.

5 explosions were heard in the village of Bogatyr near the Molochnyi estuary. According to Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov, the russian occupiers have relocated part of their military equipment and personnel there.

On the night of September 16-17, the russian military launched a rocket attack on the village of Tavriyske. As a result, the “Perspektiva” gymnasium, a sports club and a local cultural center were destroyed. There were no casualties. Also, high-rise buildings in the city of Stepnohirsk were shelled. No one was hurt there. One person was wounded during shelling in the city of Orihiv.

Guerrillas blew up the railway in occupied Melitopol, which the invaders used to deliver weapons and fuel for military equipment from Crimea.

“Zaporizhzhia Oblast Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” informs that the radiation background in Zaporizhzhia Oblast remains unchanged and does not pose a threat to the life and health of the population.

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday at 03:50 p.m., enemy shelling of the coastal zone of Ochakiv (Ochakiv community) was recorded. There were no casualties. Also, at night, September 17, from 00:10 a.m., the enemy continued to attack Ochakiv. As a result, some areas of the city lacked electricity and water supply. 

At night, September 17, at 02:50 a.m., the village of Dmytrivka (Kutsurub community) was shelled by the enemy. One person died. Water treatment facilities and a power substation were damaged. There is no electricity in most of the community’s settlements.

Villages of the Berezneguvate community located on the dividing line remain under constant russian fire. Yesterday, September 16, at 09:10 a.m. the vicinity of Murakhivka village was shelled, at 09:15 – the vicinity of Berezneguvate station. Today, September 17, approximately from 00:05 a.m. to 00:12 a.m., enemy shelling of the outskirts of the Berezneguvate village was recorded.  

Also, last day, September 16, at 07:00 p.m., enemy fired on the village of Shyroke (Shyroke community). Non-residential premises were destroyed. On September 17, at 05:00 a.m. and 06:00 a.m., Shyroke was once again attacked by the russians.

Odesa Oblast

The night before, during an air alert, the enemy directed a sea-based cruise missile “Caliber” from the Black Sea towards Odesa. The Anti-aircraft defense forces destroyed the enemy projectile in the air. The situation is currently under control, but remains tense due to the threat of missile attacks.

Odesa Mayor Gennadyi Trukhanov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba. The main topic was the strengthening of international cooperation and the “grain initiative”. According to the mayor, the interaction of local self-government bodies with diplomatic institutions for the development of cooperation between Ukrainian cities and foreign countries has played a special role since the first days of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In Odesa, the preparation of the nomination file for the inclusion of the historical city center in the Main List of UNESCO World Heritage has been completed. The final online meeting was held at the City Hall. It was attended by the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, the head of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, Emine Japarova, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Kateryna Chuyeva, and specialists who made efforts to complete this work. “We have 196 objects of cultural heritage in our file, including 30 of national importance. The only chance to protect them is to include the historical center in the UNESCO World Heritage List,” said Odesa Mayor, Gennadyi Trukhanov.

Central oblasts

Kirovohrad Oblast

Air alarms sounded one after the other in the oblast today. The population of the Kirovohrad Oblast was warned about the high threat of a missile attack.

Another evacuation train from Donbas arrived in Alexandria. The mandatory evacuation of the civilian population from Donetsk, which began in August, continues. Citizens who have lost their homes due to the war or do not want to remain without heat and water due to the destroyed infrastructure are transported to more peaceful parts of Ukraine by free trains.

The “Velta” mining enterprise in the Novomyrhorod community provided soldiers-compatriots with more than ten expensive thermal imagers. Also, together with the “Prykhystok”public organization, the company’s employees prepared the urgent seasonal needs of defenders in clothing, special tents, oilcloth, shovels, axes. And in order to ensure the mobility of delivery of what is necessary for soldiers on the front lines and displaced families temporarily living in Pancheve of the Novoukrainka Raion, the mining company handed over a car to the volunteer organization.

The team of the AUI Active Community of Kropyvnytskyi took part in weaving camouflage nets, which the Ukrainian military uses to disguise their positions and equipment.

Western oblasts

Rivne Oblast

Today on the Independence Square of Rivne, the townspeople said goodbye to the two Heroes who died on September 12 in the Kharkiv Oblast – Anton Kravchuk and Mykola Shevchyk.

The Security Service of Ukraine in the Rivne Oblast exposed another supporter of propaganda, who campaigned for the return to the USSR. The man systematically spread propaganda narratives and was an active member of many pro-russian groups, including a membership of the “Journalists of Stremousov” closed group. Currently, the issue of notifying the perpetrator of a suspected crime under part 1 of Art. 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of up to 5 years of imprisonment.

50170 hryvnias were collected by “Run to Victory”, which took place on September 17 in Rivne. 129 participants joined it. The run was organized by the Rivne Running Club to raise money for generators and heaters for the military.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets- Podilskyi

Among 50 enterprises relocated to the Khmelnytskyi oblast, 27 of them are in Kamianets-Podilskyi, which is 54%. Among the main reasons are transparency for business, comfortable conditions, and prospects.

In the community, people with disabilities are provided with free sanatorium-resort treatment. 405200 hryvnias are provided for that in the state budget. As of todat, 34 residents of Kamianets-Podilskyi have received permits.

The European Mobility Week has started in Europe and will last until September 22. This is a week of activities to improve safe and ecological ways of movement and urban space. The mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi called on the townspeople to join it: to walk more, switch to bicycles and, if possible, avoid driving.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Since today, the time of the curfew has been changed in the Chernivtsi oblast. It operates from 00:00 to 05:00. The situation in the oblast is calm and under control, and travel is safe.

The territorial defense men from the Chernivtsi Oblast took part in the liberation of the village of Velyka Komyshuvakha in the Kharkiv Oblast, which is 30 kilometers from the strategic Izium. According to them, there are almost no local residents left in the village. During the inspection of the settlement, defenders discovered dozens of headquarters with russian equipment and weapons.

Senior Sergeant Christy Dumitrash was awarded the third grade Order of Courage. He signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine back in 2017. He fought in the area of ​​Stanytsia Luhanska and Shchastia, and defended Shyrokyne. He received a high award for the defense of this settlement. Currently, the man is defending his native land as part of one of the divisions of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade.

Humanitarian cargo from Bukovyna was delivered to the Mykolaiv Oblast: baby food, hygiene products, food and sweets. All this will be handed over to local residents.

Zakarpattia Oblast

In Zakarpattia, unknown persons reported about the detonation of all schools in the oblast yesterday. Police officers inspected 626 educational institutions. The information turned out to be false.

Mariupol Drama “came to life” on the stage of the regional drama theater in Uzhhorod. In early September, the occupiers held a “concert” at the ruins of the Mariupol Drama Theater, which was bombed by russians, burying hundreds of Ukrainians alive. And on September 16, on the stage of the Shereghiiv brothers Zakarpattia Academic Oblast Musical Theater, the premiere of the Donetsk Drama Theater about people who survived the bombing and were able to leave took place. For the first time, the actors did not create images, but showed themselves in that tragic time.

An exhibition of works in the style of ancient technique – cyanotypes was presented in Uzhgorod. It was called “At the level of the clouds. Hutsulia”. Its author is Andriy Aftanas, the prior of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine from the village of Shchyrets. The photos are made in the technique of an ancient method of monochrome photographic printing. The works of art are a continuation of the priest’s sermons.
