Kyiv

Today, private enterprises from Munich, Regensburg, Hanover, and Zeven delivered 19 buses to Kyiv.

Kyiv Oblast

The “Bdzhilka” (Bee) kindergarten in Irpin is preparing for the new school year. Before the full-scale war, 200 children attended it. Now they are completing the work on repairing the roof and replacing damaged windows and doors. Also, the work on arranging the shelter is ongoing. 

Two groups of children brought more than 29,000 hryvnias to the Irpin City Council, which they collected for the Ukrainian Army.

The Charitable Foundation “National Humanitarian Aid Agency ‘Zdorovi’” donated the mobile X-ray machine “C-duga”, worth over 4.5 million hryvnias, to the trauma department of the Irpin Central Hospital.

Not far from the village of Zelena Poliana, Vyshhorod Raion, a tractor hit an explosive item during harvesting. The driver of the vehicle was wounded as a result of the explosion.

A cache of russian ammunition was discovered near Chernobyl. The invaders left behind two wooden boxes with five high-explosive fragmentation shells and other ordnance. In addition, an ATGM (anti-tank guided missile) system was found in the cache.

Zhytomyr Oblast

The mayor of Zhytomyr announced that a cooperation protocol was signed today with the Polish city of Plock and the Spanish city of Malaga. The mayor talked with representatives of friendly municipalities and discussed the following key issues with them: humanitarian aid to Zhytomyr; assistance to Ukrainian citizens – forced refugees – in coming back home; training programs for local self-government officials; the involvement of architects in the reconstruction of buildings and structures damaged by air and missile strikes in Zhytomyr.

At the age of 102, a resident of the village of Khodorkiv, Zhytomyr Oblast, helps weave “kikimora” camouflage outfits for Ukrainian defenders. Lyubov Yarosh has more than a century of living history of Ukraine behind her shoulders. The Holodomor, recruitment, German occupation, forced hard labor in the Donbas, and then in the local collective farm. And now – war again. At the same time, the woman is actively involved in the fight against the enemy.

Chernihiv Oblast

Residents of the Bobrovytsia microdistrict in Chernihiv received the first 40 construction kits from the Norwegian Refugee Council. The kits are designed to quickly patch up the roof and prevent further destruction of buildings.

Today, near Shestovytsia, rescuers neutralized ammunition by detonation.

In Chernihiv, 18 schools and about 8,500 students are ready for offline learning. These schools have prepared shelters that can accommodate more than 11,000 children. Those schools that do not have their own shelters will reach agreement with neighboring institutions so that children go to the shelters of neighboring buildings during air raids.

The first modular town was opened in Novoselivka for people who lost their homes as a result of hostilities. 280 residents have already received the orders for settlement. They are issued for one year, during which time new housing will be built. Living in a modular town is free for people, and they don’t have to pay for utilities either.

Sumy Oblast

As a result of yesterday’s russian shelling of the village of Studenok of the Esman community in the Sumy Oblast, the buildings of the school and the cultural center, as well as private estates were damaged.

This morning, the russians shelled the village of Pavlivka in the Bilopillia community with tube artillery. Private houses and the local school were damaged.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

During the night, the russians launched massive rocket attacks on Kharkiv. Peaceful sleeping areas with civilians were attacked by Russian terrorists.

Around 9:30 p.m., a russian rocket hit a three-story residential building in the Saltovka district. The house was almost destroyed, there was a large-scale fire. According to the latest data, 7 people died under the rubble, 17 were injured, including an 11-year-old child.

Around 4:30 in the morning, the enemy launched 8 more rockets from Belgorod in the direction of the Kharkiv region. Missile hits were recorded in the Kholodnohirskyi and Saltivskyi districts of Kharkiv. Buildings and infrastructure were damaged, fires started.

In the Slobidskyi district, one of the rockets hit a 4-story dormitory. The building is partially destroyed. As of now, 2 people have died, 18 have been injured, including 2 children.

Also today around 4 am, the enemy launched a rocket attack on Krasnograd. Residential buildings were destroyed, more than 10 buildings were damaged. 2 civilians were killed, 2 were injured, including a 12-year-old child. Information is being updated.

Fighting continues on the front lines. All previous attempts of the enemy to attack the positions of our defenders ended in retreats and losses. At the moment, the occupiers are focused on holding their own borders, shelling the positions of our military with MLRS and artillery. The enemy is mining the terrain remotely.

Donetsk Oblast

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy fired from tanks and multiple rocket launchers at the regions of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Spirne, Donetsk, Ivano-Daryivka, Siversk, Zvanivka, and Raigorodka. Made an airstrike near Vesele.

He led an offensive in the Mykolaivka-Vyimka direction, was unsuccessful, withdrew.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy fired from barrel, rocket artillery and tanks near Avdiivka, Maryinka, Oleksandropol, Piski, Pervomaiske and Opytne.

On August 17, the russians killed 3 civilians of Donetsk oblast: in Avdiivka, Netailovo, and Kurakhivka. Another 6 people were injured.

Since February 24, the russians have killed 739 civilians of Donetsk region, wounded another 1,918. 

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In Avdiivka, seven enemy strikes on the city were documented. The city of Krasnohorivka, the village of Ocheretine, the village of Zhelanne Druge, Memryk village, Netaylove village were under blanketing fire.

The past day in the Pokrovsk community was relatively calm. There are no facts about the victims and the destruction for the past 24 hours.

In the Pokrovsk community, work continues on the collection of firewood and the purchase of coal.

Novohrodivka community is one of those where the situation has been tense for a long time. But life did not stop there. Shops and pharmacies are open, population evacuation continues.

Bakhmut

In the direction of Bakhmut, shelling was recorded near Bakhmut, Soledar, Rozdolivka, Kodema and Mayorsk.

The occupiers launched an offensive in the directions of Volodymyrivka – Soledar, Pokrovske – Bakhmutske, Pokrovske – Bakhmut, Klynove – Bakhmut, Semihirya – Zaitseve, Semihirya – Kodema, and Holmivskyi – Zaitseve. The invaders did not achieve any positive results in any of the offensive directions and withdrew with losses.

Mariupol

Luhansk Oblast

Forced mobilization continues in the occupied cities – young parents are hunted next to kindergartens.

Military commissariat workers in the occupied territories are already resorting to extreme measures to replenish the russian army.

During August 17, the Russians tried 11 times to attack the positions of the Ukrainian military from different directions on the border of Luhansk region and Donetsk region.

Southern Oblasts

Kherson Oblast

The so-called “Government of the Kherson region” is trying to forcibly remove the hryvnia from circulation in the city of Kherson. They take away terminals in stores, with which you can pay in hryvnias.

In the de-occupied territories of the Kherson region, units of the Kakhovka Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine found anti-personnel fragmentation mines (POM-2). The peculiarity of this mine is that one can be wounded without touching it.

Resistance to the occupation continues in the south. The activity of the Ukrainian underground forced the russians to throw additional resources into ensuring the holding of their pseudo-referendum. “The occupiers bring young people from other regions to paint over Ukrainian symbols in occupied Kherson and Melitopol. However, these groups have no success, because the Ukrainian underground is actively painting Ukrainian symbols on the streets of the city.” This was reported by the Center of National Resistance.

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday, August 17, at approximately 10:30 a.m., one person was injured and a residential building was damaged as a result of enemy shelling in the village of Chervone of Voskresenske hromada.

Yesterday evening at 5:20 p.m. shelling of Shevchenkove village of Shevchenkove hromada was registered. There is damage to residential buildings and household structures.

Shelling of the territory and nearby settlements of Bereznehuvate hromada continues.

Odesa Oblast

On August 17, the enemy launched a rocket attack on Odesa region. Two rockets caused destruction and fires in one of the recreation centers and in several private buildings nearby. 4 civilians were injured. Operational Command “South” informs.

Firefighters of Odesa spent nearly 5 hours eliminating the consequences of rocket fire at the scene.

The city authorities report that the situation is currently under control, but the threat of rocket attacks remains.

People are stick together and active, they are engaged in volunteer activities.

Central Regions

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The aggressor hit Nikopol twice. In total, they fired 15 shells with barrel artillery. A 57-year-old woman was injured, she was hospitalized in a state of intermediate severity. 15 residential buildings, a school, a shop, a church, several farm buildings and cars were damaged. Power lines and gas pipelines were also damaged.

Kryvyi Rih Raion was fired upon by the enemy with the Uragan multiple rocket launchers. Apostolove urban hromada came under attack.

Residents of Nikopol, who have been under daily shelling of russian troops for a month, recorded a video appeal to Energoatom and the IAEA. They call on the world to stop the actions of the russian military, which are shelling peaceful areas under the cover of a nuclear plant.

Dnipro handed over 46 reconnaissance drones to Ukrainian fighters. They were purchased from the local budget — at the expense of all Dnipro residents. In the near future, Dnipro will acquire another 800 radio stations for the military.

The city authorities, in coordination with the TAPS-Ukraine charitable foundation and the Coordination Headquarters of Dnipro volunteers, continue to help the defenders. Air defense soldiers received 40 pairs of combat boots, 260 sets of uniforms, 260 T-shirts, 700 booney hats, as well as products. Volunteers also provided defenders with 100 first-aid kits. Also, the rescuers of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast received about 300 protective glasses from Dnipro.

A consultation center for military personnel and their families has opened in Dnipro. They assist in solving problems related to providing housing, discounted travel, treatment, as well as in searching for missing fighters.

The charity art auction “Beauty for the sake of peace” continues in Kryvyi Rih. More than 30 authors presented their works. The funds will be used to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Nearly 11,000 IDPs enrolled in regional schools. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast there are more than 70 thousand displaced children, almost 50 thousand of them are schoolchildren. Only 20% enrolled in educational institutions of the region.

The regional coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” compiled a list of those European countries that continue to issue visas to russians and make money from them. And also a list of those countries that refused to grant visas to tourists from russia.

Kirovohrad Oblast

An air alarm siren sounded in the community. There was a threat of a missile attack on Kropyvnytskyi. Currently, the situation in the communities is calm and under control.

The other day, a charity sale-exhibition was opened in Oleksandria Central Library. Here are presented the creative works of students of the Oleksandria Vocational College of Culture and Arts, which are made in the techniques of quilling, paper tunnel, stained glass, non-woven tapestry. In general, about 20 works were proposed for review.

Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion

Air alarm sirens sounded throughout the day. The past day was relatively calm in the Khmilnyk community.

Children from Kozyatyn collect money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and teach Ukrainians the Ukrainian language.

In Kozyatyn, the collection of creative works for the charity opening “Lavender inspires, the Armed Forces of Ukraine wins” continues. All proceeds from the sale will go to help Ukrainian soldiers.

Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

The general situation is relatively calm. There were no air alarms as of 17:00.

In the city of Dubno, “Volunteers on Kontorska” make “burzhuikas” (wood-burning stoves) for Ukrainian defenders. They are made from auto discs. Near such metal mini-stoves, people can warm up, dry clothes, and cook food. The military is already starting to order “burzhuikas”, because autumn is just around the corner. In total, since the beginning of the war, volunteers have made up to fifty such mini-stoves.

A patron from the United Arab Emirates paid for the rent of a cottage for internally displaced persons in the Rivne Oblast. These are two families – from Lyman and Kharkiv. A businessman, the owner of a chain of restaurants from the UAE, expressed a desire to pay the annual rent for them. The families were chosen according to the following criteria: damaged housing due to military actions, no opportunity to rent housing, officially employed in the oblast.

In the Rivne Oblast, as of August 18, 44.7% of educational institutions are equipped with protective structures for the start of studies. The press service of the Rivne Oblast Military Administration reported that the educational process should begin in a mixed format. The shelters in educational institutions continue to be examined. Regional commissions have already inspected 77% of such facilities in Rivne Oblast. Parents’ committees were also involved in this.
