The new OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Foreign Minister of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani arrived in Kyiv. The purpose of the visit is to meet with the Ukrainian leadership to discuss security issues in the region.
Kyiv Oblast
This weekend representatives of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas and President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Anatoliy Kinakh visited Irpin. Together with the Deputy Mayor of Irpin, Yulia Ustych, they held a working meeting on the reconstruction of the preschool educational institution №6 “Radist” destroyed during the hostilities in the city. The meeting of the delegation of guests and representatives of the Irpin management team took place directly in the damaged kindergarten.
The Irpin community received 4 generators with the support of the UN Office for Project Services in Ukraine and the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration.
The police of the Kyiv Oblast received modern DNA laboratories from the Howard Buffett Foundation. They will help quickly identify the dead and more efficiently record the war crimes of the russian army. The mobile DNA laboratory makes it possible to promptly conduct research and a detailed examination of the recovered biological samples at the scene of the incident.
Zhytomyr Oblast
In Zhytomyr, they said goodbye to Hero Vitaliy Pyvovarov. He was killed on January 6, while repelling an enemy attack in the east of our country. The defender never had time to start his own family. His parents and sister remained in eternal grief.
The Berdychiv Raion Military Administration reported that a resident of Andrushivka, soldier Oleksandr Pechonkin, born in 1977, was killed fighting the enemy. This happened on December 1, 2022, in the settlement of Kurdiumivka, Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast.
Chernihiv Oblast
Today, russian troops shelled the Novgorod-Siversk community. Observers counted nine hits, probably from a 120 mm mortar, in the area of the village of Obiednane.
Yesterday, in the Chernihiv Oblast, they said goodbye to servicemen Vitaliy Oliynyk and Oleh Yevtushenko, who were killed in action.
Today we also said goodbye to Captain Anatoliy Tkachenko, sailor Serhiy Yarenko, and senior sergeant Dmytro Dyatlovskyi.
Sumy Oblast
Yesterday, russians carried out 44 attacks on the border areas of the Sumy Oblast. The Bilopillia, Khotyn, Seredyna-Buda, and Krasnopillia communities came under fire. The shelling resulted in damaging a school and a kindergarten.
Russian military fired mortars at the border area of the Krasnopillia community. Also, two pieces of explosive ordnance were dropped from a drone.
Mortar fire was also opened on the Bilopillia community, there were 15 hits. A school and a garage were damaged in the village of Pavlivka.
Eastern oblasts
Kharkiv Oblast
This morning, the enemy shelled Kupiansk again. A private household and an apartment building were damaged. According to preliminary information, two people were wounded. Emergency services are working at the site.
Over the past day, the russian occupiers shelled the border settlements of Kupiansk, Chuhuiv, and Kharkiv raions with artillery, mortars and tanks. In particular, Vovchansk, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Dvorichna, Strilecha and other settlements were under enemy fire.
In Vovchansk, as a result of enemy shelling, an educational institution was damaged and a fire broke out. Private houses and outbuildings were also damaged.
Mine clearance works are ongoing in the oblast. Over the past day, 132 explosive devices were defused.
Donetsk Oblast
On January 15, the russians wounded 7 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast: two people each in Bakhmut and Avdiivka, and one person each in Velyka Novosilka, Lyman, and Soledar.
In total, since February 24, the russians have killed 1,307 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and wounded another 2,856 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Over the past 24 hours, the units of the Defense Forces have repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast, and Verkhniokamianske, Krasnopolivka, Spirne, Sil, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Novobakhmutivka, Velyka Novosilka, Prechystivka, Krasnohorivka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Maiorsk, and Maryinka in the Donetsk Oblast.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
In the east of the Pokrovsk Raion, shelling continued throughout the night in Maryinka, Krasnohorivka, and the outskirts of Kurakhove and the Ocheretyne community. In the morning, Avdiivka came under artillery shelling — without casualties.
The occupation troops of the russian federation fired on the town of Kurakhove, the settlement of Ocheretyne, the villages of Krasnohorivka, Karlivka, and Klishchiivka.
Teachers of Avdiivka, Pokrovsk Raion, received laptops to facilitate their work. This problem was solved within the framework of the initiative of the Global Business Coalition for Education (GBC-Education) and the project “Digital Asset for Ukraine” of the HP and Microsoft companies in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Avdiivka received laptops for the teaching staff of general secondary education institutions.
In the town of Novohrodivka, Pokrovsk Raion, there is a consultation center that helps schoolchildren and their parents. A psychologist there provides professional support.
Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
In the Bakhmut direction, areas of more than 25 settlements of the Donetsk Oblast came under enemy shelling. In particular, these are Spirne, Ozarianivka, Klishchiivka, Ivano-Dariivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Druzhba, New York and Pivnichne.
Today Chasovyi Yar School №17 became another target for shelling by the russian invaders. The locker room, gym and windows were damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Two more shells hit the village of Nove. 6 houses were damaged there.
1 person died in Soledar, another 1 was injured in Krasnopolivka (3 houses were damaged in the village). In Bakhmut, private and multi-storey buildings were damaged.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
In the Lysychansk direction yesterday, the russians launched a missile attack on Lyman. One person was injured. In the Lyman community, the settlements of Torske and Zarichne were shelled again. The russians also fired on Siversk during the day. There were no casualties.
Southern Oblasts
Odesa Oblast
The assistance project to provide soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with high-quality winter uniforms is ongoing. The project was initiated by the Consulate of Ukraine in the city of Aarhus (Denmark). During February and January, 7 shipments of over 2,000 kits were sent to Ukraine, each of which includes: tactical leather boots, tactical winter jacket, winter pants, long thermal coat, sleeping bag, etc. All logistics from Denmark to the front are provided by Odesa volunteers from the Odesa Charitable Foundation for the Development of Sports and Public Initiatives named after Serhii Utochkin. This assistance continues and several more deliveries will be made by the end of January.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
At night, the russian military shelled Zaporizhzhia again. As a result of the S-300 missile hitting a residential building in the city center, a five-story building was damaged by the blast wave. Windows and doors were broken, the building’s heating system was damaged. 9 people, including 3 children, were injured by debris and glass. All relevant services deal with the elimination of the consequences of a hit.
About 15 houses were damaged as a result of the nighttime enemy attack. Rescuers, utility workers and volunteers are working on the ground.
Also, the enemy hit a S-300 missile on the territory of the light industry enterprise of the Kushugum community. A fire broke out in the hangar, where products ready for sale were stored, on a total area of 800 square meters. It took rescuers about three hours to completely extinguish the fire. Fortunately, the people were unharmed.
As the General Staff reports, yesterday the russians shelled the positions of the Ukrainian troops with tanks, mortars, tube and rocket artillery in the areas of Huliaipole community, the city of Huliaipole and villages of the Vasylivka Raion. Also, the enemy does not stop terrorizing the civilian population of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. During the past day, the civil infrastructure of the Polohy, Zaporizhzhia and Vasylivka raions suffered from the criminal actions of the occupiers. As a result of the shelling, fires were also recorded in Polohy Raion. In particular, a residential building caught fire in Huliaipole.
In the temporarily occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the russian invaders are intensifying counter-intelligence and regime measures, conducting increased inspections of the local population. Special attention is paid to mobile phones. This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, 15 children have died and 72 have been injured in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Mykolaiv Oblast
Yesterday, the enemy carried out artillery strikes outside the settlement of the Kutsurub community. There were no damages or injuries.
In Mykolaiv, Pervomaiske, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.
The Mykolaiv Oblast Military Administration delivered aid to two communities – building materials for the restoration of damaged buildings. So, today the Ochakiv community received about 2,500 OSB boards, and more than 240 boards were handed over to the Chornomorsk community. Next, the materials will be distributed for the further repair of buildings that have suffered as a result of hostilities.
Kherson Oblast
Russian troops shelled the oblast children’s hospital in Kherson. About 30 windows in the neonatal building were broken. The building was empty, so there were no injuries. As a result of the morning shelling of Kherson by the russian army, shells hit an apartment building and a boarding school in the Dniprovskyi district. One death is known in advance.
In Skadovsk, explosions are heard constantly. Yesterday, there was no power supply during the day. According to eyewitnesses, the streets of the city were filled with unfamiliar civilians and russian soldiers.
Yesterday, 42 people were evacuated from the Kherson Oblast, including two children. In particular, 18 people left for Khmelnytskyi by train.
The public organization “Youth Initiative” from the temporarily occupied Skadovsk launched the “Workshop of the Invincibles” project. The participants help in the reconstruction of Stanislav and Chornobaivka communities. The most destroyed village – Oleksandrivka – was chosen first.
Central Oblasts
Kirovohrad Oblast
The Onufriivka community (Oleksandria Raion) held a solemn farewell to the military man Volodymyr Yarovyi, born in 1989. The soldier died while performing combat tasks near the city of Bakhmut (Donetsk Oblast). Eternal memory to the defenders of Ukraine.
Kirovohrad Oblast is ready to accept another 5,000 IDPs from Kherson Oblast. According to the local authorities, there are conditions and possibilities. Over the past year, the region has welcomed more than 173,000 people fleeing war-torn cities and villages. Almost 90 thousand IDPs live in the communities of Kirovohrad Oblast. In particular, 8,000 people came from the Kherson Oblast, more than a thousand arrived after deoccupation.
Kirovohrad Oblast became a pilot in the project of mandatory evacuation of the population from Donetsk Oblast. To date, 34 trains have been encountered. All citizens were accommodated.
A fair was held and funds were collected for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Haivoron community (Holovanivsk Raion). Culinary masters of the Berestiahy House of Culture organized a fair, where they sold fragrant pastries and various culinary products. Guests were treated to authentic Cossack porridge. The main goal of the fair was to raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together, organizers managed to collect 8 thousand hryvnias.
The artists of the Petrove Central House of Culture of the village of Petrove (Oleksandria Raion) collected 51 thousand 921 hryvnias during the singing shchedrivkas (Ukrainian Christmas and New Year songs). All funds will go to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Artists performed in the villages of Iskrivka and Hannivka, in the communal institution “Center for the provision of social services” and in the department of social protection of the population of the settlement council.
An exhibition of photos of fallen soldiers “My heart is steel, my blood is Azov” was opened in the Museum of Art in Kropyvnytskyi. The project presents 179 photos and personal belongings of fallen soldiers from different regions of Ukraine. These are 179 stories of heroism and self-sacrifice.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
On the night of January 16, russian troops shelled the Nikopol district with heavy artillery. In Chervonogrihorivka and Marganets communities, about a dozen residential buildings, farm buildings, two cars, electricity networks and gas lines were damaged.
Currently, 40 people (including three children) are known to have died as a result of a missile attack on the Dnipro high-rise building on Saturday. 75 people were injured, including 14 children. More than 30 people are currently missing. 72 apartments were destroyed and more than 230 were damaged. Debris clearance and a search operation are still ongoing. The entire house has no electricity, gas, or windows. More than 1,000 people were left without housing (including the neighboring blocks of flats). Psychologists of the State Emergency Service provided assistance to 98 victims. The surviving residents will be resettled in shelters, and in the future they will receive assistance from the City Hall.
Residents of Dnipro are helping to clear the debris of a high-rise building destroyed by a russian missile. Volunteers collect things for those who have lost their homes and property. People carry flowers, toys and lamps to the scene. Residents and guests of the city of Dnipro are invited to donate blood for the victims of a missile attack by russian terrorists on a high-rise building.
In Pavlograd of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, they will say goodbye to military officer Andrii Yashchenko. Dmytro Starodubtsev, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a resident of Dnipro, died in the war. Andrii Vasylchenko, a soldier from Kamianske, died in the battles in Donbas. 69 tablets for schoolchildren were delivered from the Republic of Korea to Nikopol. This became possible within the framework of the cooperation program with the Ministry of Education and Science. Tablets will be given to children from the privileged categories.
Western oblasts
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
During the last large-scale shelling on January 14, russian missiles again targeted an energy facility in Prykarpattia. Two missiles were shot down by air defense. A strong fire broke out at the place of impact on the energy facility. The area was 200 square meters. A firefighting headquarters with the involvement of representatives of the facility and four operational stations were established. The fire was contained, and firefighters rescued two people.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
Kamianets-Podilskyi
Today, the community accompanied Ruslan Dimitrovsky on his last journey. The warrior comes from the Donetsk Oblast, was orphaned and grown by his grandmother in Kamianets-Podilskyi. He defended the freedom of Ukraine on the Maidan. And then as a senior lieutenant, the commander of an engineering and sapper platoon, he courageously defended it in the war. A defender died in the Kharkiv Oblast.
In the Khmelnytskyi Oblast, due to adverse weather conditions, electrical networks were massively damaged.
Currently, 390 settlements remain without power in the oblast, 44 of them for more than a day. The communities of Nova Ushytsia, Derazhnia, Horodok and Yarmolyntsi were the most affected.
The Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council is working to identify the urgent needs of internally displaced persons for further analysis and assistance in cooperation with international donors to critical categories of displaced persons. Today, the members of the coordination council met to resolve urgent issues of displaced persons.
On January 15, children from Kharkiv came to Khmelnytskyi. They will continue undergoing rehabilitation in one of the health facilities of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Raion.
Rivne Oblast
In the Dubno Raion, they put the soldier Maksym Tishakov, who died on January 2 to rest. The last battle of the warrior took place in Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk Oblast.
In the Rivne Oblast, Uliana Petruk, an 8-year-old girl, cut her hair to help the Armed Forces. She received 1,300 hryvnias for them. They have already been handed over to the volunteer association created by the residents of Shepetyn village. Here they know about the needs of the soldiers at the front and look for opportunities to buy what they need. A girl from the village of Shepetyn in the Dubno Raion joins volunteering. Together with other scouts they make patriotic souvenirs and went caroling to raise money for the needs of the Armed Forces. But at the same time, she wanted to make a contribution by herself.
Chernivtsi Oblast
Bukovyna said goodbye to the brave soldiers who defended their native land from the russian invasion: captain Petro Kovalyuk was put to rest in the village of Chereshenka, sergeant Ivan Buzhora in the village of Kuty, senior sergeant Volodymyr Okhota and junior sergeant Valentin Motriuk – on the Alley of Glory of the Central Cemetery of Chernivtsi, soldier Ruslan Marusyk – in the village of Kadubivtsi.
In the Chernivtsi Oblast, members of the families of the fallen defenders of Ukraine received one-time assistance in the total amount of 418,500 hryvnias within the framework of the regional comprehensive program.
Bukovyna received 200 generators from the German company “Blau-Gelbes-Kreuz e.V.” with the support of the “CBG” club of entrepreneurs. They were handed over to all 52 communities of the oblast for installation in kindergartens.
Trench candles and camouflage nets are only part of what is made at the Gvizdivtsi Lyceum of the Sokyriany community. A real workshop was organized here: educators, students and their parents, as well as caring residents of the community volunteer. So far, they have handed over 100 sources of heat and light, seven camouflage suits to the Ukrainian defenders.
