Northern oblasts
Kyiv
The exhibition “Mariupol. Filtration” opened in the Kyiv History Museum. The exhibition includes 9 informational posters describing the filtration process in the words of the participants of the events. There is a showcase with exhibits from the Mariupol Drama Theater. Also, paintings by artists Oleksiy Revika and Daniil Nemyrovskyi are exhibited there.
Kyiv Oblast
Prime Minister of Ireland Leo Varadkar visited the places most affected by russian aggression in Kyiv Oblast.
Allan Reagan, CEO of the American chain of unique movie theaters and breweries, visited Irpin. He came to understand how he could help in the reconstruction and development of Irpin. Allan Reagan visited the destroyed Giraffe shopping center, which became one of Irpin’s outposts during the hostilities. After hearing the story of the battles that took place here, the American businessman offered to finance the construction of a local memorial.
Reconstruction of a hostel for IDPs continues in Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka. The reconstructed building will house 19 families of immigrants. Currently, internal partitions are being built in the hostel, formwork is being installed and the floor is being repaired. In addition to construction workers, representatives of the Irpinvodokanal company also work there. They have started repairing wells and laying new utility networks to the hostel building.
Chernihiv Oblast
On the night of July 19-20, russian troops attacked the border town of Semenivka with Shahed kamikaze drones. Two private houses, outbuildings, and a five-storey building were damaged as a result of the Shahed hits.
A Russian man who tortured residents of the village of Vyshneve in the Chernihiv Oblast was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The Russian used physical force and threatened to shoot a local resident and demanded to be provided with information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of the village. When he failed to receive the desired answers, they illegally took the victim to a sawmill, where a russian soldier demanded from him a confession of “espionage” for Ukraine and threatened to kill his mother. He also beat the man with his feet, a stick and the butt of a machine gun in the abdomen, back and head. This resulted in bodily injuries of moderate severity.
Sumy Oblast
On July 19, the russian military shelled 9 communities in the Sumy Oblast; 99 explosions were recorded. Some buildings were destroyed in the Krasnopillia and Myropillia communities.
On the night of July 20, russians attacked Sumy with drones. Two of them were shot down by the air defense forces, the third hit the building of an out-of-school health care center, where a fire broke out. The nurse of the center was injured and was given medical assistance on the spot.
Eastern regions
Kharkiv Oblast
On the morning of July 20, russian occupiers once again shelled the town of Vovchansk, Chuhuiv Raion. Unfortunately, a 40-year-old civilian man was killed. Emergency services have already arrived at the scene.
Over the past day, the enemy fired mortars, tube and rocket artillery and other weapons at the settlements of the Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv, Kupiansk, and Chuhuiv raions.
Vovchansk was shelled several times yesterday. At least 4 private residential houses and outbuildings were damaged, and fires broke out in the town.
At least 11 private residential buildings were damaged as a result of shelling of Kupiansk with Tulip self-propelled mortars.
The enemy also shelled the outskirts of the villages of Ivashky and Odnorobivka in the Bohodukhiv Raion, as well as the settlements of Dvorichna, Zapadne, and Synkivka in the Kupiansk Raion, Kozacha Lopan and Strilecha in the Kharkiv Raion, and other localities.
Mine clearance continues. Over the past day, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service surveyed more than 7 hectares of territory and defused 76 explosive devices.
The Survivor Relief Center, a facility where every war victim can receive comprehensive social and psychological assistance, has been opened in Kharkiv. The Center was opened with the participation of Ukrainian MP Maria Mezentseva, Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko, and UNFPA Representative in Ukraine Jaime Nadal.
Donetsk Oblast
On July 19, one person was killed and two others were wounded in the Donetsk Oblast.
In total, since February 24, 2022, the Russians have killed 1,617 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and 3,867 people have been wounded. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
In the Horlivka sector, 2 people were wounded and 3 houses were damaged in Mykolaivka of the Kostiantynivka community. Kostiantynivka was shelled with Smerch MLRS.
In the Lysychansk sector, 3 high-rise buildings and 3 infrastructure facilities were damaged in Siversk, and 3 houses were damaged in Pereizne of the Zvanivka community.
Mobile protective structures are being put into operation in Kramatorsk. They are provided with doors, benches, and lighting. They are designed to accommodate about 100 people. Installation work is nearing completion in the shelter at the bus station, and soon it will also be available in the event of an air raid alert.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Oblast
In the Donetsk direction, in Hostre, the Kurakhove community, 6 residential buildings were damaged as a result of shelling from the russian side.
In the Pokrovsk community, flagpoles are installed at military burial sites to honor the memory of fallen soldiers. A total of 50 flags on metal structures were purchased with funds from the local budget.
Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
In the Chasovyi Yar community, a building was damaged. The city of Mykolaivka was attacked by “Shaheed” drones – as a result, a house was damaged.
Ukrainian troops are fighting near Kurdiumivka in the Bakhmut direction. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to advance north and south of the city of Bakhmut.
Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion
In the Volnovakha direction, the settlements of Burlatske and Vilne Pole of the Komar community came under enemy fire. The territory of the Velyka Novosilka community was shelled by the russians from the “Uragan” multiple-launch rocket systems. As a result, 1 person died, 1 was injured.
Luhansk Oblast
During an aerial reconnaissance in a forest area on the outskirts of a settlement near Svatove, the National Guard of Ukraine discovered a concentration of enemy forces and means, in particular batteries of 152-mm self-propelled artillery systems 2C19 “Msta-C” [M1990 “Farm”]. Also, as a result of the collection and analysis of electronic reconnaissance data and satellite surveillance information of the same area, the location of two enemy field control points was established. After fire damage to the identified targets, it was confirmed that the occupiers suffered significant losses in manpower and equipment.
Western Oblasts
Mykolaiv Oblast
On the night of July 20, the enemy launched a missile attack on Mykolaiv. As a result of the hitting, several floors of a three-story building were destroyed and a fire with an area of 450 square meters broke out, which was extinguished by firefighters. The liquidation of the debris is ongoing. Neighboring high-rise buildings were damaged. There was also a fire in three garages, which was quickly extinguished. About 15 garages were damaged and windows were broken in several high-rise buildings located nearby. In total, 19 people, including five children, were injured as a result of the missile attack. Eight people sought medical help – two were hospitalized, including a child.
Yesterday, July 19, enemy shelling was recorded in the water area of Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.
Also yesterday, the enemy shelled the settlement of the Kutsurub community. As a result, the garage was destroyed, outbuildings and windows in residential buildings were damaged. Fires on the territory of private households and outside the settlement were eliminated. There were no casualties.
In addition, yesterday and today, the town of Ochakiv was under enemy fire. As a result of hitting a five-story building, the apartment caught fire. One man was injured. The consequences of the morning shelling are being clarified.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
During the past day, July 19, russian troops shelled the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast 82 times. The occupiers dropped aerial bombs on Orihiv, Mala Tokmachka and Novodanylivka. They shelled settlements of Polohy and Vasylivka raions with artillery and anti-aircraft guns, and hit the oblast center with S-300 missiles. In total, 17 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast came under fire. A 79-year-old man died, two elderly women and a 44-year-old man were injured.
In Zaporizhzhia, the support center “Oplich HUB” was opened, where citizens and internally displaced persons who suffered from the war can receive free psychological help.
Odesa Oblast
As a result of today’s nighttime shelling and fire, the administrative building and office premises suffered significant destruction. Apartment buildings, an educational institution, a lyceum, a kindergarten and cars were damaged. Port infrastructure facilities and warehouses of a private enterprise in Odesa Raion were also damaged and destroyed due to the attack. A 21-year-old security guard of a civil building was killed. He was found under the rubble during a search and rescue operation. Eight people were injured, including three employees of the State Emergency Service.
During the night attack, the building of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Odesa was damaged.
From July 21, all vessels heading to the Black Sea waters in the direction of russian seaports and Ukrainian seaports located on the territory of Ukraine temporarily occupied by russia may be considered by Ukraine as carrying military cargo with all the relevant risks, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported.
Kherson Oblast
During July 19, the russian army shelled the Kherson Oblast 72 times. Shells hit residential quarters, the territory of a farm in the Beryslav Raion, the territory of a garden society in the Dariivka community, and an administrative building in Kherson. Four people were injured.
On the night of July 20, the russian army attacked the Suvorovskyi district of Kherson. The Kherson community was shelled 22 times during the day. Humanitarian aid distribution points and residential buildings were damaged. Two people were injured.
In the morning, russian troops shelled the village of Dniprovske in the Bilozerka community. The school and houses were destroyed. As a result of the enemy shelling, the roof of the building in Zolota Balka was also damaged. There were no casualties or injuries.
14 russian servicemen, five of whom are senior officer commanders, were informed of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war. All of them were involved in the crackdown on pro-Ukrainian rallies in Kherson in the spring of 2021. At least 11 people were illegally detained then. The issues regarding the announcement of wanted criminals are now being resolved. Other people involved in the suppression of peaceful actions in Kherson are also being identified.
Central oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
On the night of July 20, russian troops shelled the Nikopol Raion three times. Nikopol and the Marganets community were hit. In the morning, they hit the Myrove community. A nine-story building, a private enterprise, a parking lot, an agricultural firm, an infrastructure object, and four houses were damaged. There are no dead or injured.
An official of the local division of Ukrzaliznytsia was detained in Dnipro on suspicion of cooperation with the russian military. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the woman was collecting intelligence on the locations of the Security and Defense Forces in the city. She also secretly took photos of infrastructure objects.
In the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, since the beginning of 2023, more than 50,000 people have applied to the regional employment center. Because of hostilities, some of them left their homes and at the same time left their jobs.
Kirovohrad Oblast
Commemorative plaques were unveiled to four fighters from the Kirovohrad Oblast. They were installed on the school building in the village of Shyshkyne of the Novoukrainianka Raion, where the fighters studied. The installation was initiated by the village council.
In the Kirovohrad Oblast, students are taught to fly drones. Courses were opened in the agricultural lyceum. Currently, 20 young men and women have enrolled in them.
Poltava Oblast
A soldier from the Poltava Oblast was returned from captivity. Serhiy Avramenko lives in the Hrebinka community. He is currently under the supervision of doctors and undergoing rehabilitation.
15 generators were handed over from the Poltava Oblast for the needs of marines of the Navy of Ukraine. 11 of them with a capacity of 3 kW were provided by international partners thanks to cooperation with the Regional Office of International Cooperation. Four generators with a capacity of 5.5 kW were purchased for more than UAH 84,000 from the regional budget.
Western oblasts
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
A separate infantry battalion is being formed in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. People aged 18 to 55, including those who have no military service experience, are invited to the service.
Within the framework of the “Side by Side ” project, the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast is restoring housing and civil infrastructure destroyed by russian shelling in the village of Davidiv Brid in the Kherson Oblast. In particular, a kindergarten, a school, a cultural center and a dispensary. They will also carry out major repairs of the road, sidewalks and restore street lighting. The estimated cost of the works is 230 million hryvnias.
Rivne Oblast
In the event of a blackout, Rivne rescuers will be able to quickly exchange information. With funds from the regional budget, part of the city and district units of the fire and rescue service were equipped with modern means of digital radio communication and telecommunication equipment.
In the Ozhenyn village of the Ostroh community in the Rivne Oblast, children and librarians started collecting herbs to make herbal teas for the military in the local book collection. Tea will be served for the parents of those children who are on the front lines, as well as for volunteers.
Chernivtsi Oblast
Nazar Nikolaik, a soldier from Bukovyna, was posthumously awarded a state award. The senior sergeant from the Sokyriany community received the medal “For Military Service to Ukraine”.
The head of the Chernivtsi regional military administration, Ruslan Zaparaniuk, paid a working visit to the military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine in Chernivtsi. With its commander, he discussed the state of affairs, work on theoretical and practical training of National Guardsmen, and the overall security situation in Bukovina.
The eleventh-graders Hryhorii Tomin Nedoboivtsi Lyceum held their graduation party under the slogan “Donate to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, so that the victory of Ukraine becomes closer!”. As a result, schoolchildren managed to purchase Starlink, a charging station, a solar panel, and a generator. The military has already received the equipment and tested it in combat conditions. They sent thanks and a photo report to the schoolchildren.
Volunteers from the Klishkivtsi community visited compatriots in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblasts. They brought food, hygiene products, clothes, water, insect sprays, sweets, parcels from family and friends. Stanislav Ivanichyk, a resident of the village of Klishkivtsi, also handed over his own car, which he converted and improved, to the defenders.
“A knife in war is the most necessary thing”: Vasyl Isar, a craftsman from Bukovyna, made more than three hundred knives for the Armed Forces.
Zakarpattia Oblast
Fallen trees, 16 settlements completely and 26 ones partially without power, flooded basements in houses, nine damaged cars are the consequences of the bad weather that happened on the evening of July 19 in Zakarpattia. The strong wind damaged the roofs of four city infrastructure facilities and one multi-apartment residential building.
In Mukachevo, they handed over the keys to a new home for 40 forced migrants. The housing was built with the funds of the Czech Republic, in particular, the charity fund “Caritas of the Czech Republic”. The residents of the houses will live here until the end of the war and 2 years after that.
