Kyiv

The Lavra Art Gallery presented more than 50 paintings by Ukrainian and international artists dedicated to Mariupol and its insubordination. During the year, the exhibition visited Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany.

Kyiv Oblast

On the eve of Independence Day, Kyiv OMA held a prayer breakfast in Irpin. The event united everyone who works for the good of the country, for the good of people. Representatives of various faiths, authorities and businesses of our Oblast gathered to pray for Kyiv Oblast and Ukraine. The head of Kyiv OMA, Ruslan Kravchenko, thanked the military, who are on the front lines defending independence and territorial integrity, as well as international partners for their support in the fight against the russian enemy.

Today, on the eve of the Crimean Platform, the Crimean Tatar flag was raised in the central square of Irpin. It was raised by the permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Tamila Tasheva, and Timur Bektimirov, a native of Crimea and a resident of Irpin. The event was attended by: Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, Metropolitan Epiphany, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov and other distinguished guests.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved an experimental project for the construction of the National Military Memorial Cemetery – it should be built in the village of Gatne, Fastiv raion, Kyiv Oblast, by July 30, 2025. At first, the memorial complex was supposed to be located in Kyiv on Lysa Gora, and later in Bykivna, but the projects were stopped twice.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Soldiers of the 30 separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Konstantin Ostrozky from the Zhytomyr Oblast were awarded with awards, prizes and gifts for bravery and valor.

On August 22, Zvyagel will open a photo exhibition of the Zhytomyr writer and volunteer Martyn Yakub «The Living Shots». It will present photo portraits of Ukrainian Renaissance artists destroyed by the soviet regime. The exhibition is timed to the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Chernihiv Oblast

On the night of August 22, the administrative building of the city council was partially destroyed in Semenivka, Chernihiv Oblast, as a result of an enemy strike by «Shakhed». The roof, floor, windows were damaged. Opposite is the cultural center, a couple of windows were blown out. A few more houses suffered minor damage.

In the Chernihiv drama theater, they began to dismantle the rubble after the missile strike. The roof of the theater suffered the most damage, the auditorium and foyer were also damaged, 90% of the windows were broken. More than 150 residents of Chernihiv, theater actors, and volunteers came to clean up the debris and the auditorium, which was covered with plaster. Also, the singer Onuka and her husband Yevhen Filatov joined in sorting out the debris.

Sumy Oblast 

During August 21, the russian army carried out 12 attacks on the Sumy Oblast. 86 explosions were recorded. Previously – without human losses and destruction of civil infrastructure.

During the night and morning of August 22, the russian military carried out 8 shellings of the border areas of the Sumy Oblast, 24 explosions were recorded. The communities of Esman, Druzhba, and Velyka Pysarivka were shelled.

On the afternoon of August 22, the russians shelled Seredyna-Buda. A russian projectile hit a four-apartment house. Facades of private houses were cut by debris and vehicles were damaged. Four people are injured.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

That night, the enemy shelled the city of Vovchansk, Chuguyiv raion. 4 residential buildings were damaged and destroyed. Rescuers unblocked the owner of one of the houses – a 56-year-old woman – from under the rubble. The woman had no serious injuries and did not require hospitalization.

On the night of August 22, as a result of shelling in the town of Kupyansk-Vuzlovy, a private house was damaged and a fire broke out.

During the yesterday, the enemy shelled the settlements of Kharkiv, Chuguyiv, Kupyansk and Izyum raions of the Oblast. In particular, Chervona Zoria, Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Kupyansk, Dvorichna, Berestove and other settlements were under enemy attacks.

Residential buildings were damaged in Kupyansk, there was a fire. In the village of Cherneshchyna, Izyum raion, a private house and power lines were damaged.

In the morning, a tractor blew up in the village of Shestakove, Chuguyiv raion, during work on an unknown explosive device. A 51-year-old man was injured and was hospitalized in a moderate condition.

Demining continues. Pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service inspected 8.8 hectares of territory and neutralized 51 explosive objects in a day.

Donetsk Oblast 

During the past day, the russians shelled 10 towns and villages of Donetsk Oblast.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion

Russian troops fired artillery at a private house in Podilske, killing a civilian resident.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion 

In the Avdiyivka direction, under heavy fire from the enemy’s aircraft and artillery, our defenders continue to hold back the advance of russian troops in the Avdiyivka area of ​​the Donetsk Oblast. The settlements of Oleksandropil, Stepove, Avdiyivka, Severne, Pervomayske, Nevelske, Donetsk Oblast were hit by artillery fire.

In the Maryinka direction, defense forces continue to hold back the advance of russian troops in the Maryinka and Novomykhailivka raion of the Donetsk Oblast. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka. The settlements of Zhelanne Druge, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobyeda, Elizavetivka, and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk Oblast were hit by artillery fire.

Avdiyivka was hit by two tank attacks.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the Klishchiivka area of ​​the Donetsk Oblast. He carried out airstrikes in the Vesely, Pryvilly and Kurdyumivka districts of the Donetsk Oblast. More than 20 settlements, including Pryvillia, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, and Klishchiivka of the Donetsk Oblast, were damaged by enemy artillery fire.

In Toretsk, 4 houses were damaged as a result of enemy shelling.

Mariupol

On Druzhba Street in the Left Bank district of occupied Mariupol, local residents found a shell. It remained from the period of the blockade of the city by the russians last spring. For more than a year, the occupiers have not removed it. City residents have found such “gifts” from the “brotherly people” more than once – in parks, on playgrounds and in the sea.

More than five thousand additional russian soldiers appeared in the temporarily occupied Mariupol. In addition, a new mark was noticed on the equipment of the occupying forces – a white rhombus.

On August 21, the so-called “DPR” court sentenced three Ukrainian military prisoners of the “Azov” regiment to 20 years in a high-security penal colony. Andriy Klementovych, Ivan Melnykovych and Artur Syvitskyi are accused of participating in the fighting in Mariupol and allegedly blocking the evacuation of civilians.

Luhansk Oblast 

The russians opened artillery fire in areas near Karmazynivka, Nevske, Kreminna and Bilogorivka.

Residents of the Luhansk Oblast submitted more than 40,000 claims about damaged or destroyed housing due to the full-scale invasion of russia. Most of the messages came from the Severodonetsk raion — 36,000.

Southern Oblasts

Mykolayiv Oblast 

Yesterday, August 21, the enemy launched artillery strikes on the water area of ​​the Ochakiv community. There are no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanka raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast 

Fighters of the 47th separate mechanized brigade fought their way into the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhya Oblast, in the direction of Melitopol, and organized the evacuation of civilians.

During the past day, the russians fired 96 times on the towns and villages of Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

On the night of August 22, the russians launched two missile strikes on the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia and used UAVs three times over open territory. As a result of the blast wave, 4 multi-story buildings were damaged. There are no casualties or injuries.

Also, as a result of shelling, a fire broke out at one of Zaporizhzhya’s enterprises. 14 cars were on fire, including 4 trucks, as well as packing containers on the site. The total area of ​​the fire is 200 square meters.

In the temporarily occupied Tokmak of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, russian servicemen are taking away housing from residents who do not have ownership documents.

A slight decrease in the water level was recorded in the cooling pond of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. Today, August 22, it is 16 meters 14 centimeters.

Kherson Oblast 

During the day of August 21, the russians shelled the Kherson Oblast 71 times. They targeted a summer cottage cooperative in the Kherson raion, a farm and a national park in Berislavske. Four people are injured.

During the past day, the russians carried out airstrikes in the Dacha and Zimivnyk raions of the Kherson Oblast. More than 20 settlements were also under shelling. In particular, Kherson, Stanislav and Poniativka.

On the night of August 22, the russian army shelled Kherson with mortars, and Sadove with artillery.

In the afternoon of August 22, the russians shelled the Komysh in the Kherson Oblast. A 71-year-old woman died, a man was injured. Residential buildings and a gas pipe were damaged.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On August 21, the russians struck Nikopol and the Marganets community of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with heavy artillery. There are no casualties or injuries. Information about the destruction is being clarified.

At dawn on August 22, the russians launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih. 20 private houses and a power line were damaged in the city. One person is injured.

In Dnipro, divers cleaned the bottom of the pool, which was damaged by a russian missile strike on August 15, from glass and stones. During the shelling, the windows of the facility were partially broken, the ceiling and walls were mutilated. The pool was cleaned for more than three hours.

Kirovohrad Oblast

The Kropyvnytskyi Museum of Art opened an exhibition dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine, “Art Born of War.” The vast majority of paintings are works by members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine: Andrii Khvorost, Oleksandr Demydenko, Feliks Polonskyi, Liudmyla Demydenko, Anatolii Komitnyi, Iryna Kukharenko, Oleksandr Kirianov, Anastasiia Plitina, and Olha Kolomiets.

Poltava Oblast

Since August 21, mass events have been banned in the Poltava Oblast. This decision was made by the Regional Defense Council in connection with the possible intensification of enemy shelling. The date for lifting the restriction will be agreed at the next meeting. 

Poltava Oblast has prepared schedules in case of power outages for six categories of consumers, businesses, and public utilities. Last year, Poltava Oblast had different schedules of power restrictions for 3.5 months, so there is a risk this year as well. Currently, Poltava Oblast has prepared two blackout schedules that can be applied in case of a power shortage

The fifth rotation of architects and builders returned home from Kherson. This time, employees of the Kremenchuk, Poltava, Dykanka, and Tereshkiv communities, the Local Roads Agency, and Poltava State Agrarian University traveled. They documented the consequences of flooding in the city due to the occupiers’ undermining of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. In total, more than 60 specialists from Poltava Oblast have already worked in the districts of Kherson. They inspected more than 200 objects. About 190 relevant acts were drawn up. Based on the data collected, checklists are being prepared. They are the basis for the victims to receive financial compensation for the destroyed real estate. A new team of specialists has already been formed and will soon go to Kherson.

Vinnytsia Oblast

The Vinnytsia Museum of Local Lore presented 15 photographs of military wives. The exposition was called “Come back alive. I am waiting for you”.

Western Oblasts

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

The mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Mykhailo Positko, held a meeting with the heads of social protection, healthcare, and financial management to discuss the establishment of a ”Veterans Hub” at one of the city’s medical facilities. The launch of the hub is essential for the rehabilitation and social support of our soldiers returning home. 

An exhibition of destroyed russian equipment has been organized in front of the city council. This was done to remind citizens that the war is brutal and not over yet.

Children from the frontline Donetsk Oblast (Selydivske and Bilozerske), Sumy Oblast (Konotop) and children evacuated from the war zone to three rehabilitation centers in Mykolaiv Oblast arrived in Kamyanets-Podilskyi. Thus, at present, more than 120 children with war trauma are undergoing psychological rehabilitation under the “Children of War” program. The comprehensive program includes not only sessions with psychologists but also excursions, sporting events, discos, swimming in the pool, and other summer activities.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Ruslan Zaparaniuk, Head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration, presented awards to the border guards of the 31st Detachment named after Major General Oleksandr Pylykevych, who are celebrating their unit’s Day.

As part of the “Eye for Eye” program of the “Come Back Alive” Foundation and the Okko gas station chain, the 107th separate brigade of the Bukovina Territorial Defense Forces was provided with large-caliber DShK machine guns. 

Humanitarian aid was sent to the de-occupied village of Zarichne in the Kherson Oblast by residents of the Mahalska community. People collected food, including canned meat, rice, and pasta. They also sent bedspreads, blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, gas heaters, and medicines.

IvanoFrankivsk Oblast

The police reported that they had caught a collaborator from Kupiansk in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. When the russians captured Kupiansk and appointed their “Gauleiter,” the woman went to work for him as a personal secretary. And when the Ukrainian army liberated Kupiansk, the collaborator found a place of refuge in Ivano-Frankivsk and stayed there for almost a year. It was there that she was found, detained, and notified of suspicion.

Zakarpattia Oblast

On August 22, the President of Hungary, Katalin Novak, arrived in Zakarpattia on a working visit. She visited the region on the eve of the third International Summit of the Crimean Platform. According to the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, they are to discuss humanitarian support, assistance to refugees and IDPs in Zakarpattia, and the organization of summer vacations for Ukrainian children in different parts of Hungary.
