Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko met in Davos with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso and First Vice President Jürgen Rigterink. They discussed further cooperation between the bank and Kyiv and the financing of the construction of an emergency hospital on the right bank of the capital.

Kyiv Oblast
Today, a helicopter of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine crashed near a kindergarten and a residential building in the city of Brovary. At the time of the tragedy, children and the staff were on the premises of the kindergarten. The crash killed the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, First Deputy Minister Yevhen Yenin, and State Secretary Yuriy Lubkovych.
A total of 14 people have been reported dead, including 9 who were in the helicopter and one child. Twenty-five people were injured, including 11 children.
Yesterday, 60 residents of the Kyiv Oblast received state awards from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. These are doctors, drivers, entrepreneurs, volunteers, employees of public utilities, and those residents of the oblast who, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, have been holding the civilian front and fighting back the enemy side by side with the military.
WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has joined the restoration of Irpin. He launched a fundraiser together with UNITED24 for the reconstruction of an apartment building in Irpin. This will allow 40 Ukrainian families to return to their homes. He personally donated UAH 8,000,000.
The community of Irpin’s Portuguese sister city, Cascais, collected and delivered humanitarian aid to the residents of Irpin. The donation includes 50 gas heaters, wheelchairs, as well as clothes, toys and a generator for one of the medical facilities.
Bohuslav
The team of the “Portal Through the Centuries: Bohuslav Koliada” project is completing the cycle of winter holidays, and thus generous giving and caroling in the Bohuslav Raion. The carolers visited 16 hospitable locations, bringing local caroling customs and wishes for a generous evening and a victorious year. They sang carols asking for generosity in private homes at the invitation of people, and for employees of the City Council, in cafes and restaurants, at local businesses and in the villages of Semyhory, Deshky, and Rozkopantsi. Almost 12 thousand hryvnias were collected, which will be transferred to the Bohuslav volunteer headquarters.
The “SmArt Step” children’s educational and development center will soon open its doors for the residents and guests of the Bohuslav Oblast. It was organized by the team of winners of the training course “From ideas to action”, which is being implemented with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) as part of the Safe Harbor initiative. Meanwhile, a debate club organized by the Active Community team in Bohuslav will start functioning at the institution in the near future.
Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr, students of various educational institutions of the city joined the “United” action on the occasion of the Day of Unity of Ukraine. 44 kindergartens, 32 secondary schools, and 5 vocational schools joined the “chain of unity” in their respective institutions. Lyceum students held national flags, which will be handed over to the military at the front line in Bakhmut tomorrow.
Military personnel of the 95th Detached Air Assault Brigade visited the Palace of Culture. The defenders were greeted by the orchestra, because it was thanks to the funds raised during the charity concert of the “Surmy Polissya” brass band that the most necessary things for the military were purchased. In particular, the 95th Air Assault Brigade received camping tents, gas cylinders and fire starters from the cultural “front”.
In Zhytomyr, the results of the “Cup with a Child’s Drawing” project for the year 2022 were summarized. The project started in September last year. While implementing the project, 106 cups were ordered for UAH 5,400. Currently, UAH 50 from each sold cup is donated to help the volunteer workshop “For our own kin”, which is involved in making camouflage nets for our military. The project will continue in 2023.
Chernihiv Oblast
Today, the russians shelled the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast, namely, the Novhorod-Siversk community. The military recorded 11 hits from an 82 mm mortar near the village of Buchky.
Today, explosive devices were destroyed by detonation near the village of Shestovytsia.
Today, in the Chernihiv Oblast, they said goodbye to serviceman Oleksandr Laputa, who was killed in action near Bakhmut.
In Staryi Bilous, the lyceum, which was damaged by hostilities in early March, is being repaired. Artillery shells hit several buildings, damaging the roof and floor slabs and smashing the windows. Currently, the educational institution is being restored with the funds of philanthropists.
Yesterday, on January 17, two modular towns were opened in the villages of Staryi Bilous and Rivnopillia. Each can accommodate 88 people. They were built for families who lost their homes during the full-scale russian invasion.
Sumy Oblast
Yesterday, the russians shelled three communities of the Sumy Oblast: Bilopillia, Nova Sloboda, and Krasnopillia. There were no casualties or damage.
Eastern regions
Kharkiv Oblast
Last day, the enemy massively shelled the populated areas of the oblast along the entire line of contact. Kupiansk, Vovchansk, Dvorichna, Starytsia, Novomlynsk and other settlements of the Kupiansk, Chuhuiv and Kharkiv raions were under fire.
Dvorichna has some private sector arrivals. At least 4 private houses were damaged in Vilcha, Chuhuiv district.

Donetsk Oblast
On January 17, the russians wounded two civilians in Bakhmut and Orlivka of the Donetsk Oblast.
Since February 24, russian weapons have killed 1,309 civilians in the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 2,859. It is still not possible to establish the number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha.
Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion
In the Avdiivka direction, Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Ocheretyne, Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk Oblast came under enemy fire.
One person was injured in Orlivka of the Ocheretyne community. Six private houses were damaged in the village. Three more houses were damaged in Kurakhovo. Periodic shelling of the outskirts of Marinka community was recorded.
The russian army hit Avdiivka the most. It was bombed 14 times, and there was no information about the victims.
Employees of the Avdiivka city military administration, together with members of the voluntary formation of the territorial defense of the city and volunteers distributed large packages of humanitarian aid (food, hygiene, warm things) from the GEM (Global Empowerment Mission) organization to residents of Avdiivka.
Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion
The situation in the Soledar community remains tense in the Horlivka direction. Paraskoviivka, Rozdolivka, Fedorivka and the outskirts of Soledar were shelled. There is no information about the victims.
Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion
In the Lysychansk direction, it was loud in Siversk and on the outskirts of the Zvanivka community. In the Lyman community, a house in Terny was damaged, and almost 20 hits were recorded in Torske and Zarichne. According to preliminary information, there were no victims.
In the liberated Sviatohirsk of the Donetsk Oblast, the pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service are demining the areas around power lines. More than 11,000 explosive items were found in the city after de-occupation.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast
This morning, the Tavriiske community came under enemy fire.
Yesterday, the russian military carried out 171 shelling of 26 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Stepnohirsk, Orihiv and Huliaipole are the communities on the line of fire that suffer the most, as before. 22 reports were received about the destruction of houses and apartments of civilians as a result of shells and rockets.
As part of the USAID international project “Energy Security of Ukraine”, the Zaporizhzhia Oblast received six generators with a capacity of 9-10 kW. The equipment relevant for difficult times was transferred to those who need it most, to the regional Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine.
Energoatom informs: Ukraine will need at least two months to resume operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP after deoccupation. This time is needed to defuse all explosive devices. After all, the russian occupiers are purposefully turning the largest nuclear power plant in Europe into a military base, mining everything around because of fear of the Armed Forces. Time is also needed for the Energy Agency specialists to check the condition of the equipment and buildings of the nuclear plant and the surrounding area.
Odesa Oblast
The comprehensive greening program of Odessa continues. The next step was the planting of 63 sophora saplings in Peremogy Park by the employees of the municipal enterprise “Miskzelentrest”. Yesterday, saplings were planted on the territory of the former rotunda, so in a few years this wasteland will become a picturesque meadow. Among all the trees of Odessa, sophora has the highest survival index. This species is the least sensitive to the arid climate.
Mykolaiv Oblast
Yesterday, the enemy carried out artillery strikes on the Kutsurub community. The hit was recorded outside the settlement. There were no damages or injuries.
Also yesterday, the enemy attacked the water area and the settlement of the Ochakove community with multiple rocket launchers. As a result, several private residential buildings were damaged, windows were broken in an apartment building. There are no casualties.
In Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.
Today, a temporary bridge across the Ingulets River, built thanks to the State Special Service of Transport, was put into operation in the Snihurivka community. The work started only on December 20 and has already been completed. The construction of the bridge is the result of cooperation between the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration and the military.
Kherson Oblast
The aggressor’s army shelled the Kherson Oblast 83 times, Kherson — 26 times with artillery, MLRS, mortars, tanks, and UAVs. Four people were injured.
Russian troops shelled the building of the Kherson Maritime College of the Fishery Industry. The premises of the facility have broken windows and a damaged roof. The administration of the utility company also came under fire. The occupiers targeted the building of the oblast puppet theater and the printing house.
Last day, Beryslav, Novooleksandrivka, Mylove and Tiahynka communities of Beryslav Raion came under the fire of the russian army. Shells hit an educational institution and houses. A person was injured in the village of Dudchany.
At night, the russian military shelled the temporarily occupied city of Kakhovka. Two people died, a child was injured.
In the temporarily occupied settlements of Zavodivka, Hornostayivka and Cayiry (Kherson Oblast), the russian invaders completely blocked the broadcast of all Ukrainian TV channels.
A temporary crossing over the Ingulets River was opened in the Kherson Oblast near the village of Natalyne. The bridge connects the settlements of Kochubeivka community with Vysokopillia and Velyka Oleksandrivka.
The exhibition “Together [we are] Invincible” opened at the railway station in Kherson. Eleven photo artists presented their works, which showed how Ukrainians lived during the war.
Central Oblasts
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
The russians shelled Dnipropetrovsk Oblast three times with heavy artillery. More than two dozen enemy shells hit Marganets and Chervonohryhorivka communities. Homes and power lines were damaged.
At least 97 apartments were completely destroyed as a result of a rocket attack on a high-rise building in Dnipro. Currently, 12 dead people remain unidentified. Also, 17 people are considered missing. It is known about 80 wounded. At present, 25 people are in the hospital, 10 are in serious condition. In total, as a result of the rocket attack, 45 people were killed, including 6 children. Residents take surviving things from mutilated apartments, utility workers sort through the debris.
25-year-old senior soldier Stanislav Bohenko and 29-year-old Mykola Klokov from Kamianske were killed in Donetsk Oblast. In Apostolove, a solemn farewell was held for 26-year-old defender Oleksandr Popov. Also, 42-year-old Serhii Stepanov and 28-year-old Artem Zvizdun, fighters of the Kryvyi Rih battalion of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, were killed by russian shelling. Eternal glory to the Heroes.
“PrivatBank” directs 15 million hryvnias to support those who suffered in the tragedy in the city of Dnipro. In particular, this amount will be used to purchase critical equipment for the Emergency Medical Care Hospital of Dnipro. Another part of the funds will be sent by the bank to strengthen the rescuers of the State Emergency Service in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, who have been continuously eliminating the consequences of the terrible tragedy for several days in a row.
In Dnipro, football fans organized a raffle for the T-shirt of Roman Zozulia, a former player of football club “Dnipro”. To participate, you need to make a donation of UAH 250 or more for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kirovohrad Oblast
In the town of Bobrynets (Kropyvnytskyi Raion, Kirovohrad Oblast), a hostel is being built for internally displaced persons. It is being created on the basis of a lyceum dormitory. After the renovation, half a hundred people will be able to live there.
Kateryna Dorosh from Kropyvnytskyi took 14 animals from the villages of Katerynivka and Bohorodychne (Donetsk rOblast). According to her, she took dogs and cats from abandoned homes. Over the past six months, the woman has visited Donetsk Oblast three times. In August, she brought 32 homeless animals from Kramatorsk.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
Two servicemen from Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Mykhailo Choronopyskyi and Ihor Ageev, were killed near the village of Prechystivka (Donetsk Oblast).
Stepan Vychivskyi, a serviceman from Ivano-Frankivsk Raion, died during enemy artillery fire near the city of Bakhmut (Donetsk Oblast). He lived in the village of Byshiv. The soldier fought in the ranks of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade.
On January 18, the hundredth of the Ukrainian insurgent army (UPA), the Hero of Ukraine from Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Myroslav Symchych, died. On January 5, 2023, he turned 100 years old.
Since the beginning of russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast have exposed 42 collaborators who voluntarily went to cooperate with the invaders. The investigators informed all of them about the suspicion. 14 indictments were handed over to the court.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast
Kamianets-Podilskyi

Reception and resettlement of internally displaced persons continues. Today, food packages were issued to IDPs again. The “Children of Heroes” fund helps to provide people with the necessary things.

Rivne Oblast
A permanent mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has started work at the Rivne NPP. The mission team arrived at the site of the station consisting of experts from 13 countries, led by Raphael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the IAEA, and accompanied by Oleh Korikov, Acting Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine. The purpose of the presence of the IAEA experts will be continuous control and monitoring of the nuclear and radiation safety of the power plant. Members of the mission will report on any threats that may be posed by military action, and will also liaise with the IAEA regarding the station’s needs.
UNICEF Ukraine handed over 35 boilers for internally displaced persons living in the Rivne Oblast. This was reported in the Main Department of the National Social Service in the Rivne Oblast. These necessary household appliances have already been received in 7 places of compact living.
In the Dubno Raion, caroling continues in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Kozyn, Tarakaniv and Radyvyliv communities participated in the fundraising. The carol singers managed to collect more than 270 thousand hryvnias. With these funds, they plan to purchase quadcopters and other necessary items for the military.
Chernivtsi Oblast
Taras Stakhiv, an 18-year-old student of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, a well-known athlete, died during a combat mission near Bakhmut. The young warrior with the call sign “Stakh” was an athlete of the Ivano-Frankivsk Zendokai karate-do federation, a champion and prize-winner of oblast and all-Ukrainian karate competitions, a black belt holder. In October, he joined the “Khartiya” [“Charter”] unit, where he was an assistant grenade launcher.
For 70 days, criminologists from Bukovyna documented the war crimes of the russian occupiers in the Kherson Oblast. They saw the burial of civilians in the yards of residential buildings, destroyed infrastructure, blown up bridges and a completely mined territory.
The Jewish temple in Chernivtsi has become a refuge for internally displaced persons. Over the past 10 months, more than 2,000 people from different cities of Ukraine have been sheltered in the synagogue.
In the Chernivtsi Oblast, 60 ambulance drivers became emergency medical technicians. Now they can provide pre-medical care in emergency situations.
By the day of remembrance of Сyborgs [Ukrainian military – defenders of Donetsk airport], an event was held in the oblast library for children, during which participants learned about the feats of Ukrainian Heroes in 2014. In addition, the children helped those who defend the Motherland now: they made “chimeras” [masking nets] and trench candles for soldiers.
