Northern Oblast 

Kyiv

One of the victims died in the hospital during a rocket attack on the Kyiv sports complex Lokomotiv on January 23.

All-Ukrainian movement “Unite” has opened the registration of participants for a free one-month Ukrainian language course. It will start on February 5. This time, all those who wish will be able to choose a basic course for beginners – Support in the transition to Ukrainian. Or a more complex in-depth one – Ukrainian grammar course.

In the capital, one of the squares will be named after the founder of the state of Israel, Golda Meir, a native of Kyiv. Benefactors will take care of arranging the location.

Kyiv Oblast

Zhytomyr Oblast 

Today, the world commemorates the millions of victims of the Holocaust. During World War II, the Nazis shot and tortured 38,536 local residents in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr Oblast, of which almost 30,000 were Jewish.

Students of Lyceum No. 21 in Zhytomyr weave camouflage nets for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after classes. Boys and girls come to the volunteer organization “Invincible Ukrainian Girls”. Together with other volunteers, they manage to weave three nets in a day.

Chernihiv Oblast 

Yesterday, the russians shelled the border communities of Chernihiv Oblast with mortars and automatic grenade launchers.

Sumy Oblast 

During the day, the russian army carried out 22 attacks on the territories of Sumy Oblast. 100 explosions were recorded.

On January 27, the russian army shelled the communities of Velikopysarivka and Bilopillya in Sumy Oblast. 61 explosions were recorded. One residential building was damaged in the Velikopysarivka community, an apartment building, three private residential buildings and an outbuilding were mutilated in the Myropillya community.

In the morning, a russian reconnaissance and sabotage group in the Sumy Oblast shot a brother and sister from the Khotyn community, who were driving on the road between two villages of the Khotyn community, Sumy raion. Their house is located in the village of Andriyivka, which is located in the 5-kilometer border zone.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

In total, about 15 settlements in the Kharkiv Oblast came under shelling from artillery and mortars during the day, private houses were damaged, and no one was injured.

Four fires in Kupyansk and one in Vovchansk started as a result of shelling by russia during January 26. The private sector was attacked, private houses were damaged.

Ukrainian defense forces repelled 13 russian assaults in the Kupyansk direction, near Tabaivka, Kharkiv Oblast, and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk Oblast.

Firefighters rescued the dog Lada, who was found while extinguishing a fire in Kupyansk-Vuzlovy. She was brought to consciousness with the help of a breathing apparatus and returned to her owner.

Donetsk Oblast 

During January 26, russian troops shelled nine settlements in Donetsk Oblast 15 times. A school, kindergarten, hospital, shop, residential buildings and garages were damaged.

Two people in Serebryanka and Krasnohorivka, Donetsk Oblast, were killed by shelling from russian troops on January 26. Also, 6 people in Myrnograd and an 11-year-old boy in Novogrodivka, who was sleeping in his room, were injured yesterday.  

Yesterday, the russian military fired 867 times in the Lyman-Kupyansk direction and Bakhmut.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion

In the morning of January 27, the russian army hit the civilian infrastructure of Sloviansk with an Iskander missile – the missile hit a ceramic workshop, which was almost completely destroyed. Nearby high-rise buildings and kindergartens were damaged, there were no casualties or injuries.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion 

Over the past day, a nine-story building was partially destroyed by a russian airstrike in Avdiyivka.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

In the town of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk Oblast, russian occupants attacked volunteer Yevhen Tkachev with a drone as he was distributing humanitarian aid to the locals. The occupiers dropped a munition on a car that was marked as a vehicle of the Proliska humanitarian mission.

Luhansk Oblast

A 70-year-old man was evacuated from Nevske, Luhansk Oblast. The man will go to his relatives in Poltava Oblast. Also on January 26, police brought humanitarian aid to residents of a settlement in Luhansk Oblast.

Southern Oblasts 

Mykolaiv Oblast

On January 26, russian troops fired artillery at the waters of the Ochakiv community throughout the day. No one was injured or killed.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

19 towns and villages came under enemy fire. The occupants made 86 attacks. In particular, they attacked with MLRS, artillery and 19 drones. There were 7 reports of residential buildings being destroyed. There were no casualties.

Six attacks of the russian army north of Pryiutne, south of Chervone, west of Verbove and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast were repelled by the defense forces yesterday, January 26.

Odesa Oblast

There are four russian missile carriers in the Black Sea, including two surface and two submarines. The total volley of “Kalibr” is 22 missiles.

Further informatization, cybersecurity, and digital transformation of the work of city structures – these are the vectors of movement for the coming years, as the mayor of Odesa announced at a working meeting with employees of departments, offices, enterprises, and institutions of the Odesa City Hall. In the past years, a digital base has been developed in the form of tools that are already in demand among Odesa residents. Today, Odesa is ready to move on to the next stage – the creation of a unified analytical data center City as a service.

Kherson Oblast

Over the past day, russian troops fired 85 times at Kherson Oblast, launching 340 shells at its territory. They hit residential areas and a school in Kherson. One person was wounded. 

At night, the russian army shelled Mykilske in Kherson Oblast for several hours. Gas and electricity networks, water supply, and people’s homes were damaged. Stanislav was also under attack. Here, russian shells hit near private houses. The consequences are being clarified.

In the morning, the russian army dropped explosives from drones on Beryslav in Kherson Oblast. A man was killed and another person was injured.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On the night of January 27, the russian army used heavy artillery to attack Nikopol and Marhanets. The consequences of the attacks are being investigated. There are no dead or wounded.

During the Second World War, between 30 and 35 thousand Jews were killed by the Nazis in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

In Kryvyi Rih, 268 place names were changed as part of decolonization. The city has streets named after fallen soldiers, historical figures, other cities of Ukraine, famous residents of Kryvyi Rih, and so on.

Kirovohrad Oblast

At night, air defense forces shot down all four drones used by the russian army over Kirovohrad Oblast.

In Kirovohrad Oblast, the families of the two fallen heroes received high state awards. The Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III degree, was posthumously awarded to Ruslan Hryshchenko, who died in September 2023 near the village of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The Defender of the Fatherland medal (posthumously) was awarded to Vladyslav Hruzyn. He died in March 2023 in Luhansk Oblast.

Students and teachers of the Bobrynets Special School of the Kirovohrad Regional Council sew adaptive clothing for wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The collected items have already been sent to the burn center of a Kropyvnytskyi hospital. There they help wounded Ukrainian defenders recover.

A children’s volunteer kitchen has been operating in Kropyvnytskyi for two months now at the initiative of the ”Dobromyr” NGO. The children pack crackers, cut apples, and dry them. The purpose of the children’s volunteer kitchen is to educate children through volunteer work.

Kirovohrad Oblast has become a leader in terms of the number of youth councils established at the local level and the number of people involved in them. According to the analysis of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, there are 410 youth councils in Ukraine, of which 37 operate in Kirovohrad Oblast.

Vinnytsia Oblast

On January 27, the world commemorates the victims of the Holocaust. The shootings at Podillia began in September 1941 and continued until March 1944.

During the Holocaust, about 200,000 Jews were shot and murdered in ghettos and colonies in the Vinnytsia Oblast. At the same time, the Vinnytsia Oblast ranks first in terms of the number of people who saved them, risking their own lives.

Western Oblasts

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

More than 153,000 people became victims of the Holocaust in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast during the Second World War. One of the places in the region where the largest number of Jews were executed was the former Yarmolyntsi Raion.

Volunteers from the village of Pyrohivtsi handed over their own products to the soldiers at the front. At the request of the soldiers, trench candles, lighters, camouflage nets, caps and other things were made.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

With the support of the Kamianets-Podilskyi city organization of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine, a rehabilitation department was opened on the basis of the city hospital. Residents of the community with disabilities, with physical and neurological disorders, with disorders of the musculoskeletal system, patients with the consequences of strokes, injuries and operations will be able to use such services.

Chernivtsi Oblasts

Oleksandr Bordiuzhan, a serviceman from the village of Vovchynets, the Kelmentsi community, received the “Golden Cross” from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

In 2023, active work was carried out in the Chernivtsi Oblast in the direction of civil protection of the population: last year, 54 warning systems were installed, and UAH 25 million were spent on arranging shelters in educational institutions.

Zakarpattia Oblast

The development strategy of the Zakarpattia Oblast for the period until 2027 is being updated with the support of the USAID “HOVERLA” Project. The next step is to define operational goals and objectives. This was discussed at the meeting of the working group on the development of the Strategy, which took place in the Zakarpattia Oblast Military Administration.

Entrepreneurs from the Zakarpattia Oblast can take part in the competition for mini-grants from the International Labor Organization. The package of necessary documents for participation in the selection must be submitted by February 1, 2024. According to its results, 25 winners will receive financial support for the development of their own business. The mini-grant competition is held within the framework of the project “Partnership to increase the level of employment and integration in the labor market of the Zakarpattia Oblast”, which is implemented by the public organization “Nehemiah” with funding from the Government of Denmark.
