Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law “On Geographical Names”, which prohibits giving geographical objects names related to russia and its figures. Self-governing bodies and military administrations must free the public space from symbols of the “russian peace” in half a year: dismantle monuments, rename streets and other objects. The law will enter into force three months after its publication.

“Ukrzaliznytsia” resumes trains from Kyiv and Lviv to Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast. This is the first time since February 24, 2022 that it opens sales for regular long-haul flights to Pokrovsk. Until now, only evacuation flights regularly operated from there.

Over the course of a day, the water level in the Dnipro within the capital fell by another 16 centimeters, and in recent days the water level has fallen by almost 50 cm. However, the flooding of floodplain areas and low-lying areas of garden and summer residences and homesteads is still ongoing.

A new patriotic flower garden was created in Kyiv. It was called “We will win” and was dedicated to the victory in the war with the russian invaders.

Kyiv Oblast

An electrical substation was commissioned in the Bucha community. However, due to the accident, they do not plan to limit the supply of electricity in the Bucha community.

The Dutch will rebuild two houses damaged by the occupiers in Irpin. Such a decision was made at a meeting by the mayor of the city, Oleksandr Markushyn, and the head of the Dutch public organization Open Door Ukraine (ODU), Robert Seri. This organization supports business, representatives of civil society and other organizations that work with Ukraine.

The “Sonechko” kindergarten resumed work in Irpin. Also, the reconstruction of two more kindergartens in Irpin – “Radist” and “Vinochok” – is currently underway. The reconstruction of the “Radist” kindergarten is being carried out thanks to the financing of the Lithuanian government. The “Wreath” kindergarten is being rebuilt and completed at the same time, because the war prevented its opening. Funds for this were provided by the Portuguese sister city of Irpin – Cascais.

Chernihiv Oblast

On the night of April 22, the russian aviation dropped a guided aerial bomb in the area of ​​the village of Orlykivka, in the Semenivska community. No information was received about losses among the local population or damage to civil infrastructure.

And in the morning, russian troops shelled another village in the Semenivka community. The military recorded 14 explosions, presumably from barrel artillery. As a result of the shelling, the village was left without electricity.

Sumy Oblast

During the past day, four communities of Sumy Oblast were shelled from the territory of russia. 114 hits were recorded. As a result of the shelling, one man was injured, the school premises, three private houses, a shop, an administrative building, a car and power lines were damaged.

In the morning, the russian military shelled the Bilopillya community. Shots from mortars – 22 arrivals and artillery – 6 arrivals. Fortunately, it passed without consequences.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

In the Kharkiv Oblast, state awards were presented to the families of two border guards who died while performing combat missions. Master Sergeant Ihor Knyazev and Master Sergeant Serhiy Markov were awarded the Order of Courage III degree (posthumously) for their personal courage and selfless actions in defense of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The policemen came under tank fire in Dvorichna on April 21 when they were delivering humanitarian aid.

In Kharkiv, they want to save an architectural monument of the 19th century damaged by a russian rocket. Built almost two centuries ago, the manor survived two world wars, but was significantly damaged by the missile gift of the russians. An architectural monument can be saved by preserving it.

Donetsk Oblast

In the Donetsk Oblast, one person was killed in Ocheretyn last night, on April 21, and two more residents were injured in New York.

Since the day of russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the enemy has killed 1,479 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, wounded another 3,417 people.

Fighters of the 36th separate marine infantry brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinsky destroyed the mines of the russian military in Donetsk Oblast. They dropped a projectile from a drone.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion

On the evening of April 21 and at night on April 22, the russian military shelled Kostyantynivka. There are no casualties or injuries. The administrative building of the plant, apartment buildings and private houses, cars were mutilated.

In the Lysychansk direction, 1 person was injured in Zarichne of the Lymans community.

The russian military hit Slovyansk with an S-300 missile and damaged a five-story building.

SSU officers detained in Lyman nine local residents who are suspected of collaborationism. Also in an abandoned private building in the city, a cache of russian military equipment was discovered weapons — a flamethrower, grenades, ammunition.

In the «Sviati Gory [Holy Mountains]» national park, workers are trying to restore at least a small part of the trees after the battles and the occupation of Sviatohirsk by the russian army. As a result of the war, 80% of the forests here were destroyed, and the damage amounted to hundreds of millions.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion

The russian army struck the cities of Krasnohorivka, the village of Ocheretyne, the villages of Zoryane, Maksimilianivka, and Netaylove. Isolated shelling of the old part of Avdiyivka was also recorded.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

On April 21, russian troops shelled New York in the Donetsk Oblast, wounding two people, including a child. Six houses and an infrastructure facility were damaged in the village. 

In the Horlivka direction, 1 person died in the Chasiv Yar community. In Bakhmut, 2 high-rise buildings and 8 private houses were destroyed. 2 more houses were damaged in the Toretsk community.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha raion

In the Volnovakha direction, in the Vugledar community, Novoukrayinka was shelled from «Hrads», Bogoyavlenka – from artillery, Prechistivka – with incendiary ammunition.

Mariupol

The Mayor of Mariupol visited the border guards who defended Mariupol and survived russian captivity. Today they are undergoing rehabilitation. As part of the city’s program of support for Ukrainian defenders who escaped from «Vilni [Free]» captivity, Vadym Boychenko handed over smart sets to the border guards. They include: a tablet, power bank and headphones. 

Luhansk Oblast

On April 17, 14 trucks with wounded soldiers of the russian federation moved from the occupied Luhansk Oblast to the belgorod region. They tried to evacuate them to russia to provide medical assistance. At the border, the russians turned back the convoy, as a result of which some of the wounded soldiers did not survive.

Nine more drones will help Ukrainian intelligence at the front. The quadcopters were handed over to the military from the Luhansk Oblast and Severodonetsk city military administrations.

Lithuanians handed over household and office equipment to the Luhansk Lyceum. The educational institution with enhanced military and physical training was forced to change its location for the second time in nine years. The Commander of the Union of Lithuanian Riflemen in Ukraine, the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Ukraine Robertas Gabulas and the Head of the Lyceum, Brigadier General Valeriy Yembakov, signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Southern Oblasts

Mykolayiv Oblast

In the Black Sea, as of April 22, the russian army keeps two submarine missile carriers on combat duty with a total salvo of up to eight Calibers.

Today, April 22, two residents of the community were blown up by an anti-personnel mine in the town of Snigurivka near the former mineral water plant.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

During the past day, April 21, the russian army shelled the Zaporizhzhia Oblast 63 times. In particular, two drones were hit on a plot of land in one of the raions of Zaporizhzhia. The blast wave damaged the windows, doors and facade in the technical room of the infrastructure facility. There are no injuries or dead. In total, 16 settlements were under fire. 

In the temporarily occupied Berdyansk of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the russians seized the building of the Roman Catholic church.

In Zaporizhzhia, on the eve of memorial days, rescuers checked cemeteries and urged the citizens to stay at home.

Kherson Oblast

Yesterday, russian troops struck the Kherson Oblast 45 times with heavy artillery and drones. Shells hit residential quarters. There are no casualties or injuries.

Yesterday, the russian military dropped seven explosive grenades from reconnaissance drones on Antonivka and Beryslav. There are no injured.

Russian military abducted a 30-year-old resident of Skadovsk raion. The man was taken to the uncontrolled territory of Ukraine. Currently, the condition and whereabouts of the abducted are unknown.

In the village of Brylivka in the temporarily captured part of the Kherson Oblast, the russian military cut the local elevator to rubble.

Also, in Nova Kakhovka and Dnipriany, the russian military ordered residents of the streets of the first shoreline of the Dnipro to leave their homes urgently. Instead, they place their equipment in residential areas.

On April 21, rocket launchers and artillerymen of the Defense Forces destroyed two observation points and a field point of military supply of the russian federation on the left bank of the Kherson Oblast. They also eliminated 31 russian military personnel, four reconnaissance drones, eight units of weapons and more than ten units of unspecified equipment.

In Kherson Oblast, teams of power engineers restored power supply in four settlements. In total, almost 250 subscribers now use electricity.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

In Kryvyi Rih, relatives of soldiers serving in the 129th separate tank brigade of the Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine gathered for a protest. The protesters claim that “wounded soldiers are not taken out of their positions”, talk about “unsatisfactory conditions of service” in the brigade, and demand treatment of wounded soldiers and the return of the bodies of the dead. The participants of the action decided to prepare a list of questions and submit them to the brigade command and the city defense council to answer online.

Poltava Oblast

The President awarded three soldiers from Poltava Oblast (two of them posthumously): Oleksii Ladyhin was wounded near Vuhledar and is now recovering. This year he was awarded the medal “For Military Service to Ukraine”.

Roman Zubko, a senior soldier and mechanic with the 831st Brigade, was posthumously awarded the Order for Courage, III degree. Serhii Scribchenko was also posthumously awarded the Order for Courage, III degree.

The student of Poltava Medical University was personally awarded the medal “For Military Service to Ukraine” by the President of Ukraine. The fifth-year student Anton Sokolenko is doing his military service at the Poltava Hospital for war veterans, where he works as an operating room nurse in the surgical department.

A family of internally displaced persons from Mykolaiv Oblast was living in a tent in Poltava. Recently, they were helped with housing in the Lubny Raion. It turned out that the family with two young children rented a house in Poltava, but ran out of money. The father set up a tent on the banks of the Vorskla River. He earned money for food with side-hustle jobs. Caritas Poltava helped them with food, clothing, and accommodation. The woman and the younger boy are undergoing treatment, while the father and the older son are already settling in at a new place.

In a few months, the members of the organization “Berehynia” have made more than a thousand pairs of socks for the front. In addition, they provide underwear to the military at the front line or in hospitals.

Western Oblasts

Lviv Oblast

The Day of the First Plast Oath was held in Lviv. This action symbolizes the unity of Plast members around the world and loyalty to the ideals of the organization. This year, the National Scout Organization “Plast” celebrates its 111th anniversary.

Chernivtsi Oblast

A medical student from Chernivtsi, senior soldier Vladyslav Stoiko, was awarded the medal “For the Liberation of Kharkiv Oblast. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the guy and his family stood up to defend Ukraine.

Another medical evacuation train of the “Doctors Without Borders – Brussels” charity foundation arrived in Bukovyna. It transported 15 women, wards of the Veselivskyi Psychoneurological Boarding School of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council. The internally displaced persons were accommodated in the Petrychansk psychoneurological boarding house.

The Chernivtsi Regional Perinatal Center received charitable aid – food and baby food. The cargo came from the Chernivtsi Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.

The Chernivtsi Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital received a charity shipment. It includes 300 disposable circuits for artificial lung ventilation. The aid came from the National Humanitarian Aid Agency ZDOROVI.

Zakarpattia Oblast

Soldiers of the assault unit of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade of the Zakarpattia Oblast received awards and honors. They were presented by Colonel Dmytro Lysiuk, the brigade’s commander, on behalf of the President of Ukraine and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleh Hudash from Uzhhorod produces implants that save the limbs of thousands of wounded soldiers. Today, he makes titanium plates, rods, and screws – implants to treat all types of fractures in all parts of the body. In addition, he uses a 3D printer to create customized implants that are used to repair skull defects where there is no bone.
