Northern oblasts

Kyiv

In the coming weeks, the Israeli missile warning system will be launched in Kyiv. This system will be able to activate sirens only in those places which missiles can hit.

In Kyiv, 300 streets, alleys and boulevards have already been renamed as part of decommunization. More than 100 others are in the pipeline.

Kyiv Oblast

Today, in the Bila Tserkva Raion, units of the State Emergency Service were busy eliminating explosive devices.

In the Kyiv Oblast, 11,784 structures and facilities have been fully or partially restored. Mykola Boyko, Deputy Head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, emphasized that there is still a lot of work to be done, given the scope of destruction. However, thanks to the joint work of all authorities and the assistance of foreign partners, the Kyiv Oblast continues to restore the damage caused by the occupiers step by step.

A 50-meter bridge across the Irpin River in the Fastiv Raion of the Kyiv Oblast is being rebuilt. It was destroyed by the occupiers in March 2022. Currently, the main package of works has already been completed. The remaining work includes the concreting of sidewalks, waterproofing of the monolithic slab, asphalt concrete pavement, and installation of barrier and railing fencing.

The American architectural firm Gensler has compiled a rating of priorities for Irpin’s restoration. It was based on the survey conducted among city residents. The residents of Irpin put a well-thought-out security system in the first place. This is stated in the video by the Voice of America.

Zhytomyr Oblast

The police seized F-1 and RGD-5 grenades with fuses from an idle farm in the village of Vyhoda, Zhytomyr Raion.

The Zhytomyr City Council plans to attract a 12,750,000 euros loan from the German State Development Bank KFW for the project of thermal sanitation of 40 public buildings.

Another train with 58 evacuated residents of the Donetsk Oblast arrived in the Zhytomyr Oblast. They will be resettled in the Hryshkivtsi community.

In Zhytomyr, acrobatic yoga classes are held for children with autism. According to the trainers, this helps the children to create the right way of conduct.

Chernihiv Oblast

Yesterday, russians dropped explosive charges from drones along the border areas of the Semenivka community. Border guards recorded three explosions near the village of Karpovychi. Also yesterday, russians shelled the Novhorod-Siversk community using tube artillery.

On April 24, russian troops shelled the Novgorod-Siversk community of the Chernihiv Oblast. Border guards recorded 13 hits in the village of Hremiach There were no reports of casualties among the local population or damage to civilian infrastructure.

In the Chernihiv Oblast, more than 18,400 hectares of fields have not yet been inspected for the presence of explosive devices. A significant part of them had been planted in the 20-kilometer zone from the border, so demining work is impossible there.

Sumy Oblast

Yesterday, russians fired mortars at two border communities in the Sumy Oblast: Khotyn and Bilopillia. A total of 11 hits were recorded. According to the military administration, the shelling caused no damage.

In the morning of April 24, russians shelled the Bilopillia and Velyka Pysarivka communities in the Sumy Oblast with mortars. No damage was reported.

In the afternoon, russian troops twice shelled the border areas of the Sumy Oblast with tube artillery. 9 hits were recorded near the village of Kucherivka, Shostka Raion. According to the State Emergency Service, a residential building caught fire there. The village of Shalyhyne in the Shostka Raion was also shelled.

Volodymyr Artyukh, the head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration, visited the border communities of the oblast. The main purpose of the meeting with the starostas of the frontline villages and towns of the Bilopillia Raion was to discuss issues related to the safety of the residents of the frontline areas, as well as the organization of work to provide the necessary resources for the restoration and development of the infrastructure of these settlements.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Yesterday, the enemy continued to attack the areas of the border and frontline settlements of the Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, and Kupiansk raions.

In particular, the territories of Hoptivka, Zelene, Neskuchne, Budarky, Milove, Krasne Pershe, Vovchansk, Dvorichna, Hrianykivka, Lyman Pershyi, Kyslivka and other settlements were under hostile fire.

No large-scale destruction, casualties or injuries among the civilian population were recorded.

Mine clearance works continue in the oblast. Over the past day, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service inspected more than 3.3 hectares of territory and defused 86 explosive devices.

Donetsk Oblast

During April 23, it became known about 2 more people killed by Russians in Donetsk region – in Bakhmut. Two people in the oblast were wounded.

Since February 24, 2022, the Russians have taken the lives of 1,481 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 3,423 people. The number of casualties in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

Russians fired two missiles at Kramatorsk last night. The shelling damaged 43 private houses, a mobile outpatient clinic, an educational institution, a religious building, and a public transport stop. The enemy continues to bombard purely civilian infrastructure.

The military recorded a missile attack in Predtechyne of the Kostiantynivka community.

In the Lysychansk sector, 10 shells hit the territory of the Torske and Zarichne communities in the Lyman community.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

The enemy continues to conduct offensive operations. Heavy fighting continues for the town of Bakhmut. During the day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensives on the outskirts of three settlements. 11 villages, towns and cities in the Donetsk Oblast were affected by hostile shelling.

The military recorded the damage to two private houses and one high-rise building in Bakhmut. Two houses were damaged in the Toretsk community. The outskirts of the Chasiv Yar and Soledar communities came under shelling.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the Donetsk direction, the shelling of Mariinka and Krasnohorivka does not stop. The russians shelled the Kurakhove community six times, damaging 6 houses: 3 – in Hostre, 2 – in Veselyi Hai, and 1 – in Hannivka. 2 more houses were damaged in Halytsynivka, the Novohrodivka community.

The russian military leadership sent a tank brigade to Avdiivka, the Donetsk Oblast, to reinforce russian units, which lost more than 200 soldiers and 20 pieces of equipment in a day. It is expected that in the near future it will be used to attack the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Myrnohrad community continues to support the Pokrovsk battalion of the Donetsk separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces, which is currently serving in the advanced positions in the Donetsk Oblast. Thus, the Myrnohrad community handed over generators, communication systems and computer equipment to the defenders. The total amount of assistance is 5 million hryvnias.

As part of the food mission, the headman counties of the Pokrovsk community received planting material – 50 kg of potatoes per household. Such humanitarian aid was provided to the residents of 8 headman counties by the East Ukrainian Agricultural Advisory Service, with the financial support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

In the Volnovakha direction, 2 people were injured in Novoukrainka. 2 private houses and an administrative building were damaged in the village.

Mariupol

The people of Mariupol continue to survive under the russian occupation. There is almost no work. Prices in stores are higher than in moscow. Therefore, not everyone can buy the necessary food.

The occupiers continue to clear the ruins of Azovstal from the side of the central passages from the Post-Bridge [a bridge connecting the right and left banks of the Kalmius River in Mariupol], and to set up military support bases inside.

Mariupol culture continues to develop in evacuation. The project “Ya Mariupol. Culture” and “Cultural Deoccupation” are already being implemented, which are designed to form a new vision of the city after its liberation. Diana Tryma, director of the Mariupol cultural and social development department, said about it.

Luhansk Oblast

Yesterday, the russians fired in the direction of Novoselivske, Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka and Dibrova.

Medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territory are full of wounded occupiers. As a result, the russians use educational institutions for their own purposes.

Southern Oblast

Миколаївська

Yesterday afternoon, soldiers of the Odesa anti-aircraft missile brigade shot down a russian reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle of the “Merlin” type over the Mykolaiv Oblast.

Yesterday morning, the enemy fired artillery at Ochakiv, the Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.

In Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Bashtanka and Voznesensk raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

During April 23, russian troops shelled the Zaporizhzhia Oblast 190 times. Residential buildings, farms, warehouses and other infrastructure of the Zaporizhzhia, Polohy and Vasylivka raions were damaged. Two people were injured as a result of the shelling.

During the shelling of Stepnohirsk, the russian military damaged the abandoned building of the enterprise. The blast wave destroyed the surrounding area. Also at night, the russian army fired S-300 missiles at a settlement in the Zaporizhzhia Raion. Several houses were damaged there. As a result of these shellings, two residents of Stepnohirsk and Novoyakovlivka went to the hospital with mine and explosive injuries.

During the last week, russian equipment exploded on the territory of temporarily occupied Melitopol and Melitopol Raion. In particular, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a rotorcraft, a portable anti-aircraft missile complex and a locomotive.

Odesa Oblast

The majority of participants in an electronic survey on the renaming of Odesa districts supported changing the name of Malynovskyi district to Khadzhybeyskyi, and Suvorovskyi to Peresypskyi. There is one week left until the voting ends.

In the Odesa Oblast, rescuers pulled out four stuck puppies from under reinforced concrete blocks. None of the animals were injured.

All children’s polyclinics and other medical facilities in Odesa received additional refrigeration equipment from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Modern refrigerators have sensors for continuous temperature registration and allow maintaining the desired temperature for several days even in the event of a power outage.

Kherson Oblast

Over the past day, the russian military has inflicted 83 hits from heavy artillery, drones and aviation on the Kherson Oblast. Kherson was shelled three times. The occupiers hit the residential quarters and the educational institution of the Belozerka community. Two people died, six were injured.

At night, the russian army attacked Kherson twice. A total of 16 shellings were recorded in the territorial community over the past day. There were lesions in the Korabel, Antonivka, Inzhenernyi, Molodizhnyi, Sadovyi and Prydniprovskyi microdistricts. Russian troops also attacked summer cottages in the island and left bank zones.

During the day, the occupiers shelled the settlements of 5 territorial communities. The cemetery in Havrylivka and Mykhailivka were hit. One person was injured in Beryslav. A car was damaged as a result of a drone strike.

Russian troops also fired artillery at the village of Kizomys, wounding a 35-year-old man.

The spouses of law enforcement officers who collaborated with the russian occupiers will be tried in the Kherson Oblast. They carried out so-called “stabilization of the criminal situation” in the region. Both face up to 15 years in prison.

In the village of Tomaryne, the mobile communication base station was restored. A total of 292 base stations and 3 mobile stations are operating in the liberated territory of the Kherson Oblast.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Yesterday, the russian military attacked Nikopol with drones once again. Dangerous projectiles were dropped. There were at least four explosions. As a result, one 33-year-old man received shrapnel wounds. Two other ones are with mine-explosive injuries and contusions. 

On the night of April 24, russian troops attacked Nikopol with heavy artillery. There are no casualties or injuries. In other areas of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast the day passed without enemy shelling.

A support center for displaced persons from Bakhmut was opened in Kryvyi Rih. Humanitarian aid is provided here and various activities for children, including educational ones, are held. Currently, 940 displaced persons have registered in the hub.

Volunteers of the Amulet of Ukraine Charitable Fund brought almost three tons of food from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to de-occupied Sviatohirsk in the Donetsk Oblast.

A memorial alley of 25 young maples appeared in Dnipro. It was planted by representatives of the Coordination Headquarters of Dnipro volunteers, the National Police of Ukraine and the families of fallen heroes as part of the All-Ukrainian project “One Million Trees of Life”. In the future, such alleys will appear in other areas of the Dnipro to perpetuate the memory of all the city’s residents who died in the war.

Kirovohrad Oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, they began to collect Ukrainian-language literature for immigrants living in Poland and Germany. The Lower Silesian Voivodeship asked the regional leadership to collect a mobile library for youth and children. Several hundred books were collected in 10 minutes. The promotion will last until May 5.

Cherkasy Oblast

Cherkasy City Council will allocate 20.4 million hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. With these funds, they plan to purchase 50 DJI Mavic series quadcopters and equipment for them. These drones will help soldiers perform combat missions on the front lines.

Cherkasy joined the international charity project “The Way of Unity”. The leaders of the city put their signatures on the largest common flag of Ukraine and Poland measuring 30 by 20 meters. To date, it has been signed by about 4,000 people. The flag was brought to Cherkasy by entrepreneur and public figure Volodymyr Netrebenko, who traveled 374 km from Wroclaw to Warsaw to thank for supporting Ukraine and draw attention to the problem of demining de-occupied settlements.

Poltava Oblast

Seven soldiers from the Poltava Oblast were awarded posthumously. In the Poltava Raion military administration, state awards were presented to their relatives. Thus, Major Igor Novikov was awarded the Order of “Bohdan Khmelnytskyi” III degree, the Order “For Courage” III degree was awarded to soldier Oleksandr Derii, sergeant Igor Kirdan, soldier Valentyn Kniazev, sergeant Igor Rakulin. Lieutenant Volodymyr Trashchynsky was awarded the “Badge of Honor”, and the family of senior sergeant Vitaly Krivenko received the medal “For special service of the III degree”.

A memorial plaque to the fallen defender Yevhenii Marchenko was opened in the Poltava Oblast. The warrior was born in the village of Oleksandrivka of the Lubny Raion, and died defending Ukraine from the invaders.

A free school was opened in Poltava, where teenagers are taught to fly drones. Training is held for students, where they are told about the operation and classification of drones, and at the end of the classes, everyone can try to control a quadcopter on their own.

Western oblasts

Rivne Oblast

On one of the military training grounds of the Rivne Oblast, the training of units continues, increasing their level of combat capability and capabilities to carry out state defense measures. Practical classes in several areas take place 24/7.

Since the beginning of 2023, for 78 internally displaced persons, 31 employers of the Rivne Oblast have received from the state compensation for labor in the amount of UAH 886,000. Expense compensation is provided in the amount of UAH 6,700 per month for each migrant for whom the employer pays a single contribution to mandatory state social insurance.

Another security class appeared in the Rivne Oblast. This time it was opened in Rokytne Lyceum No. 3. Safety on the road, dealing with fire, explosive substances, the ability to help yourself and others in critical situations are an integral component of a safe educational environment. This is already the 22nd class in the Rivne Oblast.

A first-grader from the Rivne Oblast helps the Armed Forces. The Tooth Fairy gave Kiril several hryvnias for each milk tooth. The first-grader collects this money and wants to donate it to soldiers from the Armed Forces. After Easter, the boy brought his donation again. This time it is 1000 hryvnias.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Name pendants in the shape of a heart were received today by the children of the fallen Heroes of the Kamianets-Podilskyi community from the military-civilian association “Military Brotherhood of Ukraine”. Memorial gifts will serve as charms for them. By February 24, 2022, more than 7,000 such pendants were handed out across Ukraine. However, today we still need about 50,000 medallions.

Zakarpattia Oblast

An explosives technician from Zakarpattia, after losing his foot on an enemy mine, wants to return to the army. Zakarpattia policeman Vladyslav, while clearing land de-occupied from the russian invaders in the Kharkiv Oblast, was blown up by a mine. As a result, the bomb technician lost his foot. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation in the US and learning to walk again.

The public organization “Volunteers of Zakarpattia” organized a charity event during which the most active volunteers were awarded the “Golden Heart of Ukraine” award. Benefactors were nominated in five categories of the volunteer award, covering assistance to the Armed Forces, medical assistance, vulnerable groups of the population, children and animals.

“Sakura Fest – 2023” from the Zakarpattia Military Support Movement is taking place in Uzhhorod. The program includes a handmade fair, tours of the city, in particular, places with sakura locations, a quest for children, a music marathon, photo zones, etc. Proceeds will be transferred to the needs of the military.
