Northern oblasts

Kyiv

In Kyiv, the interactive exhibition “The real causes of war, or how russian propaganda works” will be open in the lobby of the Zoloti Vorota (Golden Gate) metro station until May 24. It includes 30 posters with elements of augmented reality. They show the main methods, techniques and manipulations used by russian propaganda in the information war against Ukraine.

Kyiv Oblast

Today, explosive ordnance disposal was carried out in the Bucha Raion.

Permanent delegates of various countries to UNESCO visited Irpin. Among them are representatives of Lithuania, Canada, Estonia, Poland, Latvia, and Iceland. Foreign guests visited the Romanivskyi Bridge, the cemetery of shot-damaged cars, the destroyed Central House of Culture, and the Irpinski Lypky residential complex.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, visited the Kyiv Oblast. On her trip to the oblast, she was accompanied by Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration (KOMA), Dmytro Nazarenko, first deputy head of the KOMA, and representatives of local authorities. In Borodianka, Kaja Kallas saw the most destroyed streets and visited the monument to Taras Shevchenko, which was shot by russian troops. During her visit to Bucha, the Prime Minister visited the place of mass burials of civilians killed by the russian military, located on the territory of the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called Apostle.

French street artist C215 visited the Kyiv Oblast. The artist’s real name is Christian Guemi. He left one of his graffiti near the Irpin registry office. It depicts the artist’s son Gabin in a Ukrainian embroidered shirt. Christian Guemi first painted this work last spring near a destroyed house in Kyiv. Later it became part of the exhibition “Glory to Ukraine!”. He also left several of his works near destroyed buildings in other towns and villages of the Kyiv Oblast. In particular, he painted a bird in Hostomel and a portrait of Lesya Ukrainka and an elderly couple in Borodianka.

The Irpin City Council presented projects for the overhaul of the affected high-rise buildings on Severynivska Street. According to the projects, the brickwork of the load-bearing wall will be restored and reinforced, and the damaged part of the roof, window and door openings will be reconstructed. The facade and basement of the buildings will be insulated, electrical work will be carried out in common areas, and repair work will be carried out to restore sidewalks, parapets, ventilation ducts, balconies, and loggias. The project also includes measures to ensure access for people with disabilities.

The English-language edition of the chronology book “Battle of Irpin” has been published. According to the author of the book, Petro Shcherbyna, the English-language edition has already been presented in Washington at the Meridian Diplomacy Forum 2023 and in Dublin, and has been transferred to a number of libraries in Europe and the United States, including the Library of Congress.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Residents of the Zhytomyr Raion could hear explosions today. The authorities urge everyone to remain calm. Scheduled works are underway.

Under the Shelter program, the Government has compensated over 45 million hryvnias in housing and utility costs in the Zhytomyr Oblast. Of this amount, 34 million is aid from international organizations, in particular, from the Red Cross Society.

Goats brought by volunteers from the occupied territories in the east of the country have been living in the Zhytomyr Hydropark for more than five months. The animals have received all the necessary vaccinations, and the caretakers are expecting the replenishment in the herd soon.

Chernihiv Oblast

Yesterday, russians shelled two border villages in the Chernihiv Oblast. There were 22 hits, probably from tube artillery, in the area of the village of Hremiach in the Novhorod-Siversk Raion. Also, three hits, probably from 120-mm mortars, were recorded near the village of Kliusy in the Snovsk community.

Today, russians also fired at the Semenivka community near the village of Leonivka. There were no reports of casualties among the local population or damage to civilian infrastructure.

Today, explosive devices were destroyed by detonation near the village of Shestovytsia.

Sumy Oblast

On April 24, russian forces shelled the territories of the Esman, Myropillia, Znob-Novhorodske, Bilopillia, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda, and Yunakivka communities in the Sumy Oblast. In the Myropillia community, 3 private houses and a shop were damaged. In the Esman community, a warehouse was damaged, and a residential building caught fire.

This morning, russians shelled the village of Koreniok in the Shostka Raion, Sumy Oblast. There are no consequences of the shelling.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

This afternoon the enemy bombarded the center of Kupiansk. The building of the Local Lore Museum was hit. According to preliminary information, 5 civilians were wounded, and rescuers found and pulled out the body of a woman from under the rubble.

Over the past day, at least 18 settlements in the Kharkiv Oblast were under occupiers’ fire. In particular, Topoli, Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Fyholivka, Novomlynsk, Kindrashivka, Masiutivka and others.

The enemy also attacked the village of Dvorichna in the Kupiansk Raion. A 60-year-old woman was killed in the artillery shelling.

In the evening, Vovchansk, Chuhuiv Raion, came under hostile mortar fire. There were no casualties or serious damage.

Mine clearance in the area is underway. Over the past day, bomb squads of the State Emergency Service neutralized 87 explosive devices.

Donetsk Oblast

On April 24, russians killed 2 residents of the Donetsk Oblast – in Shakhtarske. Another 13 people in the oblast were wounded.

In total, since the onset of the full-scale war, russian troops have killed 1,483 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast and wounded another 3,436 people. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

In the Lysychansk direction, two houses were damaged in the Lymansk community: in Yampol and Torske.

In Kramatorsk, the residents of Krasnohirka are given materials to eliminate the consequences of the blows inflicted by the russians last night. Money for assistance was allocated from the city budget. 

Residents of the Kramatorsk Raion received hygiene packages from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). They were distributed both directly in the communities of the Kramatorsk Raion, and at the Support Center for IDPs of the Kramatorsk Raion “MyRazom” (WeAreTogether) in Dnipro. In total, almost 6,000 families with two or more minor children received assistance.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

Yesterday, the enemy attacked near the settlements of Novokalynove, Stepove, Sievierne and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk Oblast. There was no success. Eight settlements came under fire.

In the Donetsk direction, there were six hits of the Kurakhove community. One school, a 2-story building, and 15 private houses were damaged. The outskirts of the village of Dachne, the private sector and residential buildings of Kurakhove came under fire. The electrical networks and thermal networks of the city’s centralized heating were damaged. More than 500 subscribers remain without electricity.

A house was damaged in Novobakhmutivka of the Ocheretyne community. During the evening, Avdiivka was shelled by artillery and Grad multiple rocket launchers. There was damage to houses on 5 streets.

Over the past day, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled enemy attacks in the Marynka area, as well as near Novomykhailivka.

The students of the Donetsk National University of Technology are collecting funds for a diesel generator worth 47,000 hryvnias for the aerial reconnaissance of one of the military units operating in the Avdiivka Raion. There is already more than half of the required amount.

In Pokrovsk, the authorities concluded a tender contract for the sterilization of homeless dogs. It is about 600 thousand hryvnias. Animal sterilization will be carried out by the “ZooControl” public organization.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

Three people were injured in New York, a school in the Chasiv Yar community was damaged. The outskirts of the Illinivka community came under fire.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine sent 100 kamikaze drones to the Bakhmut Raion. Money for them was collected by volunteers.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

In the Volnovakha direction, the russians shelled Novoukrainka five times and Prechystivka three times. No one was hurt.

Luhansk Oblast

Novoselivske, Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova and Bilogorivka were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling by the russians.

Activists of the “Yellow Ribbon” movement continue to oppose the fascists in the temporarily occupied Luhansk Oblast, painting yellow ribbon graffiti on the walls.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday, April 24, in the Mykolaiv Oblast, one russian UAV of operational-tactical level was shot down by air defense forces and its means.

Also yesterday, the enemy carried out artillery fire on the water area of ​​the Ochakiv community. There were no injuries or damage.

In Mykolaiv, the Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

During the past day, April 24, the russian military shelled 20 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. In particular, they carried out five airstrikes, five from MLRS, carried out 91 artillery barrages and used drones 10 times.

This morning, explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Tokmak of the Zaporizhia Oblast. Details are being clarified.

In the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, 1,400 households were flooded. People cannot pump out the water because the russians stole the submersible pumps.

The court seized the assets of Medvedchuk’s wife, Oksana Marchenko, in Zaporizhzhia Ferroalloy Plant Joint Stock Company. Their value is over one billion hryvnias. The decision concerns 13.7% of shares owned by Marchenko through four offshore companies.

In Zaporizhzhia, the Ordzhonikidze District Court chose a preventive measure in absentia for the ex-director of “Oblvodokanal”, who fled the country back in 2014.

Odesa Oblast

Streets of Stepan Bandera, Heroes of the UPA and Ukrainian Volunteers appeared in the Dobroslav community. A total of seven streets were renamed in the community. These are the last names that connected Dobroslav with the imperial and soviet past of the aggressor country.

Kherson Oblast

During April 24, russian troops carried out 61 strikes from heavy artillery, drones and aviation in the Kherson Oblast. Kherson was shelled six times. Residential quarters, territories and the building of the kindergarten of the Novoaleksandrivka community and a public organization in the center of Kherson were hit. Four people are injured.

During the day, russian troops shelled the settlements of the Beryslav, Novooleksandrivka, Mylove and Tiagynka territorial communities. In Havrylivka, a kindergarten building and residential buildings were damaged. There are no casualties or injuries.

In the morning, the russian aviation dropped two guided bombs on the village of Kizomys of the Belozerka community. Eleven residential buildings, two shops, a church, garages and a car were damaged. Previously, there were no casualties or injuries. In the village, the electricity went out, the gas pipeline was damaged, and mobile communication is unstable. Power engineering teams are working on site.  

The police evacuated a 13-year-old boy who was left without guardianship from Beryslav. His grandmother is in the hospital, his mother is in the temporarily occupied territory. The child was taken to Kryvyi Rih. Currently, they are looking for a temporary shelter for the boy and relatives who could take him in until the grandmother recovers.

In the de-occupied part of the Kherson Oblast, two crossings were restored. They are temporary detours of two destroyed bridges on the Marianske – Beryslav road. They will simplify traffic and improve logistics with Kherson and the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

The entire Velyka Oleksandrivka community in the Kherson Oblast now has gas supply. Gas workers eliminated more than 5,000 damages and connected 13 settlements of the community to the gas supply system.

Central Oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Twice in the past day, the enemy attacked the Nikopol Raion and the Marganets community. They were hit by shells from drones and heavy artillery. In the community, 2 private houses and an outbuilding were damaged. There were no victims among the population.

The night of April 25 in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast passed without shelling.

51 private households, 28 garden houses and one city house in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast remain flooded due to spring weather. The largest number of households are under water in Kurylivka and Dnipro.

In Dnipro, there are three humanitarian hubs for internally displaced persons from the Luhansk Oblast, several centers that help Mariupol people, and a support center for those who came from the Kramatorsk Raion.

Cherkasy Oblast

Mykhailo Kupchyn, a junior sergeant from Cherkasy, received the award “For Victory” from the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The soldier serves in the first separate mechanized battalion “Da Vinci Wolves”.

In the Cherkasy Oblast, the Security Service of Ukraine neutralized the activities of two agitators who openly supported the actions of the aggressor country. The men lived in the Cherkasy Oblast and distributed destructive content from russian propaganda Internet resources to support the invaders.

The evacuation crews of the “Vostok SOS” Charitable Foundation brought people with disabilities and the elderly from the “hot” oblasts to Uman. They will be settled in institutions of social protection for evacuees, where social services of inpatient and palliative care are provided.

Poltava Oblast

On the President’s website, signatures are being collected for the posthumous awarding of the title “Hero of Ukraine” to fighter Artem Berezniuk. He served in the “Honor” company of the “Da Vinci Wolves” battalion. A 34-year-old fighter was killed near the village of Khromove, the Donetsk Oblast.

The wife of Captain Vitalii Hrytsaenko, a fallen “Azov” fighter from Poltava, submitted a proposal to the Institute of City Development to rename Pushkina Street in honor of her husband. He was the deputy commander of the “Azov” regiment and a Hero of Ukraine who died in Mariupol.

Law enforcement officers are checking reports of mining of educational institutions in Poltava. The phone of one of the city’s schools received an anonymous message about landmines. Circumstances are established.

Rivne Oblast

A coordination center for evacuated people will be created in Rivne. There are plans to equip a consultation reception room for individual assistance to internally displaced persons, a free co-working space and workplaces for employees of relocated organizations.

Eight students from the Rivne Oblast will receive scholarships from the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Such awards are given to excellent students for significant achievements in academic and scientific work. Scholarships are provided for students of the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources Use and the National University “Ostroh Academy”.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Awards were presented to the parents of the fallen defenders. According to the decrees of the President of Ukraine, the police officers who died during the hostilities, Vladyslav Klischuk and Serhii Babii, were posthumously awarded the Order of Courage III degree for their personal courage and self-sacrifice in the defense of the state sovereignty of Ukraine. A monument to soviet officers and burials from a mass grave are planned to be moved from Shevchenko Park. The monument will be put into storage, and the bodies will be reburied at the city cemetery.

A sculpture of Volodymyr Ivasiuk is planned to be installed in the Vyshyvanka Day Park. Its form will be determined at an architectural competition. Participants have to design a bust, sculpture or relief of the composer.

A tulip field was opened in Mamaivtsi. About 3 million tulip bulbs brought from Holland were planted there. On the territory there is a greenhouse with hanging flower beds, a children’s area, alleys with tulips, photo zones and a cafe. In addition to tulips, there are hydrangeas, poppies and cornflowers on the flower beds. Tulips will bloom until May 10.

Zakarpattia Oblast

Since the beginning of the year, residents of the Zakarpattia Oblast have paid more than 137.5 million hryvnias to support the army. This amount exceeds the receipts for January-March 2022 by almost 31 million hryvnias.

The project “Preparation of women for entrepreneurship in conditions of war” started in Uzhgorod on the initiative of the Uzhhorod Council Vice-Chair of the Corvallis Sister Cities Association (CSCA – Oregon, USA), Pete Bober, and with the support of the rector of the Uzhgorod National University. The project is aimed at internally displaced women, the unemployed, military wives and others. The training involves consulting and providing support in wartime conditions.

In Uzhhorod, an internally displaced woman from Kryvyi Rih presented a children’s book. One of the sections of the book is autobiographical, where the resettled author described her life in the gym. The writer Olha Kuzhdina considers this her contribution to the victory and to the formation of an educated nation, for which Ukrainian defenders are fighting.

The AUI “Active Community” team in Uzhhorod together with the Faculty of History and International Relations of the Uzhgorod National University held a simulation game in the form of a strategic session on the topic “The Future of Volunteering in Communities”. The game was played according to its own methodology “Future Modeling Technologies”. This event will help model the field of the community’s future and find a place for volunteers there.
