Northern oblasts

Kyiv

For security reasons, no major public events will be held in Kyiv on the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine and on Independence Day. However, a number of state and local celebrations will take place. On August 22-24, it is planned that the capital will host a ceremonial hoisting of the State Flag, presentation of Ukrainian citizen’s passports, and an exhibition of samples of russian weapons and military equipment. There will also be concerts, themed cultural and artistic, informational and educational/ as well as sports events.

Kyiv Oblast

Today, explosive ordnance disposal was carried out in the Vyshhorod Raion.

In the Hostomel community, 900 structures and facilities have already been restored, 887 of which are residential buildings. 3,250 structures in the community were damaged as a result of the russian invasion, including 3,166 residential buildings.

The German charitable foundations Helferkreis Arnstein and People for People, together with the Ukrainian NGO Voluntary Association of Resistance Forces of Ukraine, will open a social shop in Irpin. Representatives of the foundations discussed its opening with the mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn. In this shop, IDPs, people with disabilities, low-income or large families, children without parents, and lonely elderly people will be able to get the necessary aid package for a small fee. It can include food, clothing, hygiene products, household chemicals, kitchen utensils, etc.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In the village of Tsarivka, Zhytomyr Raion, the bridge over the Dubovets River, which was damaged by enemy air strikes, is being repaired. The contractors have already waterproofed the bridge. The next step is asphalting of the bridge.    

In Zhytomyr, benefactors from foreign partners brought an ambulance and equipment for it. This “combat” ambulance will be delivered to the military.

Chernihiv Oblast

During the day of August 15, russians shelled the border areas of the Chernihiv Oblast nine times from their territory. The attacks targeted the Snovsk and Semenivka communities. No information about the dead or wounded among the local population has been reported.

On the morning of August 16, russians again shelled the Semenivka community. There was no information about casualties or damage to the infrastructure.

On August 15, the residents of Pryluky solemnly welcomed the fighters of the territorial defense forces who returned from the combat zone. The soldiers marched in a column down the main street to Soborna Square. They carried portraits of their fallen comrades in their hands. About half a thousand soldiers, residents of Pryluky and the raion, who formed the 164th Territorial Defense Battalion, returned home.

The Cabinet of Ministers allocated 363 million hryvnias for the construction of military engineering and fortification facilities in the Chernihiv Oblast.

Sumy Oblast

On August 15, the russian army shelled 9 communities in the Sumy Oblast. 172 explosions were recorded. A private household was damaged in the Mykolaivka community.

During the night and morning of August 16, the russian military carried out 50 shelling attacks on the border communities of the Sumy Oblast. The Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Yunakivka, and Seredyna-Buda communities came under fire.

A fallout shelter is being built in the Komyshi community. This is an anchor facility. Currently, thermal modernization is underway here, for which more than 19 million hryvnias have been allocated from the state budget.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Last night, the enemy attacked the village of Pisky-Radkivski, Izium Raion, with Shahed drones. The warehouse of an abandoned agricultural enterprise was damaged. There were no casualties.

Over the past day, the enemy massively bombarded settlements of the Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Izium, and Kupiansk raions of the oblast.

Several private houses and outbuildings were damaged as a result of shelling of the town of Vovchansk, Chuhuiv Raion. 

In the village of Petropavlivka, Kupiansk Raion, 3 houses were damaged by shelling, and fires broke out there.

In one day, bomb squads of the State Emergency Service inspected more than 5 hectares of territory and defused 67 explosive devices.

On August 15, another 92 people were evacuated from dangerous communities in the Kupiansk Raion, among them 17 children, 50 women, and 6 people with disabilities.

Donetsk Oblast

On August 15, russians killed 4 residents of the Donetsk Oblast. Another 7 people were wounded in the oblast over the day.

Since February 24, 2022, russian weapons have killed 1,661 civilians of the Donetsk Oblast, and another 4,009 people have been wounded. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

Late yesterday evening, air defense forces were busy in Kramatorsk. No casualties or destruction.

On August 15, the Russian army attacked Kostiantynivka with Smerch MLRS, damaging houses, a gas pipeline, and power lines.

The enemy fired 4 volleys from Smerch MLRS at Kostiantynivka, destroying 9 houses, a gas pipeline and 2 power lines. 

In the Lysychansk sector, one person was killed and three wounded in Siversk, also an administrative building was destroyed and two houses were damaged. In the Lyman community, one person was killed in Yampil and another one was wounded in Torske.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the morning of August 16, the russian military shelled two streets of Avdiivka with tanks.

An agricultural enterprise in the Kurakhove community was shelled with Uragan MLRS.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

In the Horlivka sector, in the Toretsk community, 2 people were wounded and 5 houses and an administrative building were damaged in Pivnichne; also a house was damaged in Druzhba.

In the Chasiv Yar community, four houses were destroyed. Several buildings were damaged in Rai-Oleksandrivka of the Mykolaiv community.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

In the Volnovakha direction, an economic building in Bohoyavlenka was damaged. Maksymivka and Vuhledar were under fire.

The Defense Forces liberated the village of Urozhaine in the Donetsk Oblast. It has been occupied since March 2022. Ukrainian soldiers are entrenched at the borders, offensive actions continue.

Mariupol

In occupied Mariupol, the russians destroyed unique mosaics. The invaders destroyed the railway station, and now began to dismantle it. Together with it, they destroyed the mosaic “Metallurgists” by Valentin Konstantinov and Lelia Kuzmynkova. It is also possible that Viktor Ponomariev’s mosaic “Tourism and recreation” in the exterior of the Tourist Hotel was destroyed.

Luhansk Oblast

Residents of cities and villages captured last year, in particular residents of Sievierodonetsk, began to complain about closed and empty pharmacies.

120 citizens remain in the de-occupied villages along the front line, who are always persuaded to evacuate. Food, water and other essentials are regularly delivered to them.

Southern oblasts

Mykolaiv Oblast

At night, during a mass attack, two enemy drones were destroyed by anti-aircraft defense forces within the Mykolaiv Oblast.

Yesterday, August 15, anti-aircraft defense forces destroyed a reconnaissance UAV on the territory of the Voskresenka community. As a result of falling debris, bushes and dry grass caught fire on an area of ​​four hectares in the field. The fire was quickly extinguished by units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv Oblast. There are no casualties.

In addition, no shelling was recorded on the territory of the Mykolaiv Oblast.

In Mykolaiv, the Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanska raions, the day and night passed relatively calmly.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

The russian army fired 100 times on almost 20 towns and villages of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast over the past day, August 15.

Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited various places of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, visited the advanced surgical department, and talked with brigade commanders and combatants about the needs of soldiers.

Zaporizhzhia reservoirs still remain dangerous for swimming. Monitoring shows deviations in microbiological and sanitary-chemical indicators. Experts urge people to refrain from swimming in the Dnipro River and other water.

Odesa Oblast

russian troops attacked the port infrastructure of Odesa with attack drones of the Shahed-136/131 type, which were launched in several waves from the southeast direction. The military managed to destroy 11 drones over the Odesa Oblast. As a result of the shelling, the elevator, warehouses, granaries, administrative premises and agricultural machinery were damaged and destroyed.

The first container ship “JOSEPH SCHULTE” under the flag of Hong Kong left the port of Odesa through the temporary corridor. It has been in Odesa port since February 23, 2022. The container ship is heading for the Bosphorus, with more than 30,000 tons of cargo, including food, on board.

Kherson Oblast

On the night of August 16, the russian military launched an artillery attack on the Darivka community in the Kherson Oblast. A private house was hit, and a fire broke out. Two people were injured, they were hospitalized.

In the morning, the russian military attacked an educational institution and a hospital in Kherson. Three people were injured. Two men were injured in Zelenivka and Khreshchenivka and a couple in Mykilske.

Today at noon, russian servicemen shelled a village in the Beryslav Raion with artillery. A man who was on the street at the time of the shelling was killed.

In the temporarily occupied Kozachi Laheri in the Kherson Oblast, the russian occupiers are shooting official videos about their “successes”. It is about a plot called “Destruction of 150 servicemen of the Ukrainian subversive reconnaissance groups in a local village cultural center”. However, according to the headquarters, the mentioned cultural center is occupied by personnel of the occupying forces: about 25 servicemen of the russian army from former prisoners.

In the Kherson Oblast, the academic year will begin in 190 educational institutions, and preparations are currently underway. Last year, 166 educational institutions worked online.

Central oblasts

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

On the evening of August 15, russian troops fired a dozen shells from the Grad MLRS and heavy artillery at Nikopol, and in the morning of August 16 at the Marganets community. The 18-year-old boy died in hospital. Four people were injured, including a two-year-old girl. An agricultural enterprise is on fire.

Dnipro City Hall handed over six Jeep cars to the military. The defenders also received thermal imagers, sets of batteries for the radio station, as well as signal amplifiers and a number of computer equipment.

The charity foundation in Dnipro is calling to join the collection of russian books for waste paper. The money is transferred to help the Air Force of Ukraine. Residents of Dnipro have already handed over 10 tons of books for recycling.

Journalists of the publication “Informator” held an event on Naberezhna Street in Dnipro. Citizens were offered to squat with military plate carriers on for a donation to the Armed Forces. 2,800 hryvnias were collected during the campaign.

In Dnipro, the first person with a disability received a driver’s license as part of the “Driving school for people with disabilities” project. It functions on the basis of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs. Three more students are currently studying at the school.

Olesya Beldiy, an illustrator from Dnipro, creates author’s drawings with the adventures of fictional characters Zaia and Kotia. Illustrations are printed in the form of postcards, calendars, eco-bags and clothes. People can buy things for a free donation. The funds are transferred to charitable organizations.

Kirovohrad Oblast

The volunteers handed over the “MAVIC 3 CLSSIC” drone and the automatic reset system for it to the rescuers of the Kirovohrad Oblast. The drone will be used by sappers to detect explosives and demining territories. These specialists are engaged in the search, recovery and destruction of explosives and ammunition, including in the de-occupied territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv oblasts.

As part of the “Side by Side” project, builders from Kropyvnytskyi repaired 20 houses damaged by the russian military in the village of Mala Oleksandrivka.

Poltava Oblast

The Annunciation religious community in Lokhvytsia transferred from the Ukrainian orthodox church of the moscow patriarchate to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. From tomorrow it is planned to accept the property and documents of the religious community and begin the description of the exhibits. After that, the first service with the new rector will be held.

On August 22, the pre-premiere screening of the documentary film “Searchers of Lost Souls” will take place in Poltava. This is a film about the Pavlohrad search and rescue canine unit “Antares”. Cynologists with dogs work in any weather, despite mines and the threat of shelling, to return the bodies of soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine.

Vinnytsia Oblast

The musicians of the amateur brass band TeNeT performed for the residents of Zhmerynka and collected UAH 10,000 to purchase a car for the military comrades of the fallen soldier Roman Tsymbal from the 37th brigade of the airborne assault troops. The funds were transferred to his wife, who is now raising two children by herself.

Volyn Oblast

After yesterday morning’s missile attack in Lutsk, the hotline received three complaints about the shelters closed during the air raid.

Lviv Oblast

In Lviv, the survey of 48 buildings that were damaged as a result of the russian missile attack on the night of August 15 was completed. In total, 81 front doors and 830 windows were damaged. And in 76 apartments, cracks were recorded on the walls. The amount of compensation will be known after determining the amount of damages.

Four out of six people who were hospitalized after the missile attack remain in medical facilities. Two are in the hospital with a hypertensive crisis, one with a fracture, another one with a closed craniocerebral injury.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

The Khmelnytskyi Oblast transferred a dental clinic on wheels to the front line. The car was bought and the necessary equipment installed in it with the money of benefactors. Several groups of doctors agreed to treat the teeth of soldiers on the front line in a mobile office. Doctors will go there in turn.

Since 2014, 250 parishes and only twenty priests of the Ukrainian orthodox church of the moscow patriarchate have transferred to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Community police officers were presented at the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council. The community will be divided into 17 police stations. A police officer will be assigned to each of them. In the department, the sector of combating domestic violence, juvenile prevention and protection of public order during mass events will function.

Chernivtsi Oblast

Builders from Bukovyna are rebuilding the village of Zarichne in the Kherson Oblast. The main works are in a hurry to be completed before the start of the heating season. It is necessary to restore 108 residential objects. There are 35 residential buildings in operation.

Bukovyna received humanitarian aid – 26 washing machines and 31 electric boilers. The equipment came from the International Organization for Migration, within the scope of the IOM project: “WASH – water, sanitation and hygiene”. The total cost of the provided equipment is over UAH 500,000.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

In the village of the Kolomyia Raion, the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a fragment from a downed russian missile pierced the wall of a residential building and fell on a bed. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

A shelter for internally displaced people was opened in the village of Shevchenkove, in the premises of the cultural center. This is the first shelter in the Vyhoda community.

Zakarpattia Oblast 

As part of the “Community Police Officer” project, two more police stations became operational in the Zakarpattia Oblast. They will be staffed daily by police officers who have already undergone special training.

Almost UAH 6,500 were collected in Uzhhorod at a charity concert by the “Emilia” string quartet in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The repertoire includes well-known popular music arranged for string quartet. The funds will be transferred to the Public Organization “Movement of Support of the Zakarpattia Military” for the purchase of 68 drones for the 68th Battalion of the 101st Zakarpattia Ground Defense Brigade.

The coordinators of the AUI “Active Community” held the “Active Community Club” for Uzhhorod residents. The theme of the event is the priorities of spending budget funds in the community. The participants were taught to identify priority needs, create initiative groups and defend the interests of the community.
