Northern Oblasts

Kyiv

There was a rally again under the Kyiv CGA. People demand that 20% of the capital’s budget for 2024 be sent to help the Armed Forces.

Kyiv is preparing for possible new russian airstrikes on the energy infrastructure in autumn and winter. For this purpose, measures are being taken to protect energy facilities, a reserve of alternative power sources is being created, and preparations are being made to deploy “Punkty nezlamnosti [Points of Unbreakability]”.

Kyiv was the first city in Ukraine to create a Department for Prevention and Detection of Corruption. His task will be to assess corruption risks in the decisions of the city government and monitor the effective use of funds from the capital budget.

In Kyiv, more than 6,000 signatures were collected on a petition to ban the creation of new murals until the mechanisms for their coordination with the public are developed. The relevant initiative is under consideration by the capital authorities.

Kyiv Oblast 

Canadian philanthropists allocated 1 million dollars for the reconstruction of a children’s creative and sports hub in Borodyanka, Kyiv Oblast. At the beginning of the invasion, the russians dropped an aerial bomb on him.

A Miracle Town for elderly people who lost their homes due to the aggression of the russian federation started working in Kyiv Oblast. About 130 people in 100 apartments can live here at the same time. The first 67 people have already received the keys to their apartments. They will settle in 48 apartments. The rest will be settled by the end of the year.

Zhytomyr Oblast

In Zhytomyr, the families of four fallen soldiers were presented with state awards – orders “For Courage” of the III degree (posthumously). Among the awarded are soldier Vitaly Antipov, soldier Vyacheslav Vakhovsky, sergeant Mykola Kondratyuk, soldier Vitaly Pyvovarov.

Oleksandr from Zhytomyr together with his team assembles FPV drones for the military. Drones for soldiers are basically made for free, and they are made with the money of volunteers and donations from social networks.

Іn Berdychev, Zhytomyr Oblast, volunteer and ex-intelligence officer Nazar Dvirchenko and former company commander of the 95th Brigade, Oleksandr Surmach, created the “Palai” clothing brand. Part of the profit from the sale of things — 25% is transferred to the sports rehabilitation of defenders who were injured.

Sumy Oblast 

At night, the russian military shelled the Seredyna-Buda community in the Sumy Oblast with a mortar, 2 explosions were recorded. The information is being clarified.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast 

Lyptsi came under shelling from multiple rocket launchers in the evening of October 20: according to preliminary information, there were no wounded.

On the night of October 21, the russian federation shelled Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi with artillery: there were no wounded. Four private residential buildings and five shopping stalls were damaged.

Today, sappers detonated explosive objects near the village of Rudne, Barvinkove community. 

Donetsk Oblast 

In just one day, the russian occupiers hit the civilians of Donetsk Oblast 15 times. 

On October 20, one person was injured by shelling from the russian army in Donetsk Oblast.

Since February 24, 2022, the russians have killed 1,745 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, wounded another 4,265. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk raion 

In the middle of the night, the russians hit Kostyantynivka with rockets, damaging the school and the cafeteria.

In the Lysychansk direction, two streets in Siversk and two streets in Serebryanka came under fire. 6 shellings of the Lyman community were recorded.

In Kramatorsk, the filling of the “Heavenly Army of Kramatorsk” memory platform continues. It contains a separate section on civilians whose lives were taken by the war. Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion

In the Donetsk direction, the day before, the enemy launched a missile strike on Novomykhailivka of Maryinka community, shelled Ocheretyne. In the morning, Avdiyivka was subjected to massive artillery shelling – 1 person was wounded.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

A house and an outbuilding were damaged in the Horlivka direction in Toretsk. A high-rise building, 3 private houses and 2 non-residential buildings were damaged in the Chasiv Yar community. Rozdolivka and Minkivka are under fire in the Soledar community.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha raion

In the direction of Volnovakha, the russians hit Vuhledar with artillery, mortars, Grads and kamikaze drones — without casualties.

Mariupol

On the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, the Mariupol City Council is launching a large-scale project – “Mariupol in Ukrainian”. He will help everyone who wants to switch to their native language. For this purpose, various platforms were created: language clubs, a column for children, summer evenings, film screenings, discussion events, flash mobs, trainings, and podcasts.

Luhansk Oblast 

Four people were evacuated from the front-line village of Novolyubivka in Luhansk Oblast. They were taken to safe regions, the military administration helps with housing and household problems.

Southern Oblast 

Mykolayiv Oblast 

During October 20, the russian army fired artillery along the coastline of Ochakiv.

And on the night of October 21, the enemy launched a rocket attack outside the settlement of Voznesensky District. There are no injured or dead.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast 

Military personnel of the russia carried out 106 strikes on the Zaporizhzhia Oblast- 20 settlements were affected. Lyubitske was hit by a rocket. 20 reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities. No casualties.

In the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the russian military conducted unsuccessful assaults in the Poltavka raion, and also tried to restore the lost position in the Robotyne raion of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Almost 2,500 munitions have been defused by police explosive devices in the Zaporizhia Oblast since the start of the full-scale invasion.

“Ukraine needs help, not sympathy”: a new mural “Unbreakable” dedicated to Ukraine was opened in Vilnius. It depicts Tetyana Drobotya, a volunteer from Zaporizhzhia against the rocks of Khortytsia Island a week after the Kakhovka HPP was blown up. Lithuania, Estonia and Ukraine participated in the creation of the mural.

Odesa Oblast

During the day, the russian army launched cruise missiles from the Black Sea. Three missiles of an unknown type, aimed in the evening at Odesa, Mykolayiv Oblast, Kherson Oblast, did not reach their targets, they detonated in the air,

In Odesa, an action is taking place in support of the prisoners of war defenders of Mariupol. About forty people joined the event. A peaceful march through the city center is also planned.

Kherson Oblast

During October 20, the russian army shelled the territory of the Kherson Oblast 57 times. I was beaten in residential quarters. One person died, another was injured.

The russian army carried out 10 airstrikes in the Kherson Oblast during the day. Dropped 30 guided aerial bombs on Beryslav, Olhivka, Mykilske, Tyaginka, Mykolaivka.

At night, russian troops shelled Naddniprianske from rocket salvo systems, and Kherson from artillery.

During the day, the russian military shelled the Stanislavske community in the Kherson Oblast. A local resident was injured and was treated on the spot.

In the temporarily occupied Nova Kakhovka, Oleshki, Goliya Prystan, Gornostaivka and Ivanivka of the Kherson Oblast, the russian military is robbing local residents. Under the guise of “checks”, money, transport, valuables and food are confiscated from them. They also check the presence of russian passports.

Central Oblasts 

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast 

On the night of October 21, russian troops repeatedly struck Kryvyi Rih with missiles and drones. There is destruction at the object of industrial infrastructure. A fire broke out, which was promptly extinguished. There are no casualties or injuries. Three houses were damaged in the evening attack on the local summer cottage cooperative.

More than 20 tons of straw burned as a result of a fire near one of the households in the Sinelnyky raion of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Firefighters extinguished the fire. There were no casualties or injuries.

A man died as a result of shelling in Nikopol on October 21. Russian troops fired 7 heavy artillery shells into the city. Currently, the information is being clarified.

The action in support of the defenders of “Azovstal”, who have been in russian captivity for more than 17 months, took place in the center of the Dnipro. Relatives of the prisoners came out to remind them of them. They say that the last exchange of fighters from the Mariupol garrison was in May.

Kirovohrad Oblast

In the Svitlovodsk city community of Oleksandriya Raion, the mayor presented state awards to the relatives of four servicemen who died in the war with russia. Yevhen Oranskyi was posthumously awarded the medal “For Wounding”. Personal courage and selfless actions of Oleksandr Lozovskyi, Denys Shablii and Dmytro Horbulich were awarded the medal “Defender of the Fatherland” (posthumously).   

In the Vilshany village community of Holovanivskyi Raion, five volunteers were awarded “For Service to the Ukrainian People”.

Thanks to the partnership between Kirovohrad Oblast and the Lower Silesian Voivodeship of the Republic of Poland, medical institutions in the region were provided with medical equipment, 45 kW and 30 kW generators. Assistance was provided to IDPs.

Poltava Oblast

Poltava builders have repaired 65 houses in Chkalove and Pravdyne as part of the “Side by Side” project. More than 100 local residents are already living in their renovated homes. The builders continue to work on 124 more houses.   

By January 27, 2023, local councils must clear public space of russian symbols. To do this, they must rename streets and dismantle/relocate monuments related to communist or imperial policies. Otherwise, this will be done by community leaders or the head of the regional military administration.

An episode of the music travel show “How the World Sounds… Ukraine” was filmed in Poltava. The authors of the project, Yevhen and Natalia Synelnyk, will visit architectural monuments. Composer Yevhen Filatov will record fragments of singing by the “Drevo” folk ensemble. The story will also feature the sound of the world’s only book, The “Aeneid,” signed by the author. Vinnytsia Oblast

On Saturday, October 21, on the birthday of the “Heavenly Hundred” Hero Maksym Shymko, a traditional jousting tournament was organized in Vinnytsia for the sixth time. The tournament brought together 27 participants from different cities of Ukraine. The money raised at the charity fair will be used to buy charging stations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Western Oblasts

Volyn Oblast

A russian APC-82 destroyed by Ukrainian artillery destroyed by Ukrainian artillery was delivered to the military museum in Lutsk. The vehicle was shot down last year in the Kharkiv Oblast. A permanent place is currently being arranged for the new exhibit. This is the first such example of damaged equipment in Volyn. 

Lviv Oblast

Borys Stepaniuk, a soldier from the village of Svitaziv, Sokal community, was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, III degree. He was called up for military service in August 2022. He was killed in November in a battle near the village of Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast.   

In Lviv, the seventh picket under the Lviv Military Administration against non-critical spending “First Drones, Then Stadiums” took place.

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

Checkpoints and municipal guards will be strengthened in the Netishyn community in Khmelnytskyi Oblast: the head of the Netishyn City Military Administration held a working meeting with the management of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, representatives of local authorities, and law enforcement agencies.

More than 50 patients of a psychoneurological dispensary were evacuated from Kherson to Khmelnytskyi.

The Khmelnytskyi Regional Museum of Local Lore received russian textbooks that were to be used to teach Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories. The books will be shown to visitors in February 2024, during the presentation of an exhibition dedicated to the second anniversary of russia’s full-scale invasion.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

The St. Nicholas Goes to the Orphans campaign, organized by the Maltese Aid Service, starts in Ivano-Frankivsk on October 23. At the charity’s office, you can take letters from children from orphanages to buy a gift that the child dreams of.

Lyceum No. 10 in Ivano-Frankivsk used the money raised at a charity fair to buy gifts for 68 soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Zakarpattia Oblast

On October 20, Zakarpattia volunteers were presented with certificates of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Oksana Zholnovych came to Zakarpattia with a working visit. Together with the deputy head of the Regional State Administration, she discussed key issues related to the development of social services in the region and visited social protection institutions.

The First Mental Health Forum was held in Ukraine. Participants had the opportunity to share successful practices with their colleagues to help local people and IDPs realize the need to support mental health and learn how to take care of it.
