Northern Oblasts 

Kyiv

As of the 18th of December, all heat sources of CE “Kyivteplonergo” and heat networks are working normally. The capital’s heat supply was stabilized in the shortest possible time.

The country’s main Christmas tree lit up with yellow and blue garlands on Sofiyivska Square in Kyiv. The Christmas tree shone in test mode for several minutes. The official opening is scheduled for the 19th of December. It will be powered by generators.

Kyiv Oblast 

The Kyiv Oblast Military Administration (OMA) reported that the city of Bila Tserkva was the most affected as a result of the latest rocket attack in the Kyiv Oblast. However, according to the head of Kyiv OMA, electricity has already been restored there, and heating was provided at night. Oleksiy Kuleba added that there are emergency shutdowns due to bad weather in Boryspil and Bucha raion.

Oleksiy Kuleba, head of the Kyiv OMA, met with the Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine, Anka Feldhusen. During the meeting, assistance to the Kyiv Oblast during the winter period and establishment of regional ties were discussed.

A modular town for temporary residence was opened in Gorenka, in the Gostomel community. Mykola Boyko, deputy head of the Kyiv OMA, attended the opening. In total, the modular town consists of 2 sections, each of which contains 22 rooms for living. It is designed for simultaneous temporary accommodation of 176 people. The rooms are equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. There is furniture, basic necessities.

Zhytomyr Oblast 

Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, together with the management of Zhytomyr OMA, checked how the children from the Dubrovtsi family settled down. They recently lost their parents in a car bomb explosion. 8 children remained orphans. From the very first day, the social services of Zhytomyr OMA took care of their fate. Everything was done to support the family in a difficult time for them, provide everything necessary and do everything possible so that the children continue to grow up in one loving family. Now their grandmother is taking care of them.

In Malyna, Zhytomyr Oblast, volunteers organized a two-day fair “Think Victory for Christmas” – raising funds for the needs of the Ukrainian military. The campaign was attended by ordinary people who brought their products for sale – goodies, embroidered items, New Year’s and women’s jewelry.

Sumy Oblast 

During yesterday’s day, the russians shelled three communities of the Sumy Oblast- Znob-Novgorodske, Seredina-Buda and Shalygine. People were not injured.

At night, there was no shelling from russia in Sumy Oblast.

Today, 16 explosions were recorded in the Hlukhiv community. The russian military fired, probably from a 120 mm mortar.

Eastern Oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

In the Oblast, the occupiers carried out artillery strikes on settlements in the border areas of the Oblast, in particular: Strilecha, Hlyboke, Staritsa, Vovchansk, Volokhivka, Chugunivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, and others. In the Kupyansk direction, the raions of Berestove, Yagidne, Kotlyarivka, and Krokhmalne were under fire from the russians.

This afternoon, a 31-year-old paramedic was wounded in the village of Kivsharivka as a result of enemy shelling, the man received shrapnel wounds, doctors provided the necessary assistance. There is destruction of the hospital, broken windows.

In the village of Grakove, in the Chuguyiv raion, a 32-year-old employee of the State Emergency Service was blown up by a mine, and was hospitalized in a serious condition.

The occupiers mined a huge number of territories in the Kharkiv Oblast, the demining process continues every day. Since September, pyrotechnicians have destroyed almost 47,000 explosive objects.

Donetsk Oblast

The night in Donetsk Oblast passed relatively calmly, but isolated russian shelling was recorded in various areas of the front.

In the Lysychansk direction, numerous shellings of the Torske and Zarichne Lyman communities have occurred again – without casualties.

Since February 24, the russians have killed 1,265 civilians of Donetsk Oblast, wounded another 2,753. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

On December 17, the russians killed 1 civilian of Donetsk Oblast — in Chasiv Yar.

1 more person in the Oblast was injured.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk raion

The occupiers launched five fire attacks on Avdiivka. The village of Ocheretyne was also affected – Police of Donetsk Oblast.

Today, 1,640 sets of food products and hygiene products, 100 packages of toys for children, and 720 blankets were issued to the residents of the village of Dynasovyi Zavod of the city of Pokrovsk and the Hryshinsky starosta district of Pokrovsk community.

Such humanitarian aid for the needy was provided by the American organization Global Empowerment Mission and NGO «Yakist zhyttia [Quality of Life]».

The main task of the GEM organization is to deliver the largest amount of aid to the largest number of people in need in the shortest period of time and at the lowest cost to donors.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut raion

On the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions, more than fifteen settlements came under enemy fire. In particular, these are Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Bilogorivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Opytne, Mariinka and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk Oblast.

Yesterday morning, in the direction of Horlivka, a projectile hit a vegetable garden in Ivanopil of the Kostiantynivka community — no one was injured.

Southern Oblasts 

Kherson Oblast

In Kherson russian military shelled the city center, and three people were wounded. They received shrapnel wounds, and one of them is in serious condition.

In Kherson’s direction, russians shelled Kozatske, Tiahynka, Mykilske, Kherson, and Dniprovske with tanks, mortars, cannons and rocket artillery.

The russian army is withdrawing some troops from Nova Kakhovka and Kakhovka to the area of Nyzhni Sirohozy. The occupiers are also spreading information among the residents of Kakhovka that they will leave by the end of the year. However, this information may be part of a hybrid war. 

Yesterday the russian army shelled Kherson oblast 27 times with artillery, MLRS, and mortars. One person was killed, and three were injured. In Kherson, russians hit a school, an enterprise, power lines, and private and multi-apartment buildings.

Pyrotechnic units neutralized 212 explosive devices in the de-occupied settlements of Kherson oblast over the day, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.

Mykolaiv Oblast

Yesterday the enemy struck the water area of the Ochakiv community with MLRS. There were no casualties.

The day and night were relatively calm in Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Voznesensk, and Bashtansk raions.

Central Oblasts 

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The number of dead and injured from russian missile shelling in Kryvyi Rih has increased. A total of 19 people were injured. Three of them – a young couple and a 1.5-year-old child – died on the spot. Another 33-year-old man died in the hospital.

In Dnipro, the main water supply and heating facilities, which did not work after the missile strikes, resumed their work. However, part of the city is still without a water supply. There are emergency power cuts in oblast. 

On the night of December 18, russian troops shelled three communities of Nikopol raion – Nikopol, Marhanets, and Chervonohryhoriska. A 59-year-old man was wounded in the shelling of Nikopol. Private houses, outbuildings, and a gymnasium were damaged in the city.

The Charitable Foundation “TAPS-Ukraine”, the Coordination Center for Volunteers together with the mayor’s office of Dnipro continue to help the military and civilians. This time they delivered to the defenders 1,000 trench candles, 1,000 pairs of socks, and 1,000 sets of underwear. The military in the other direction received food, juice, sleeping bags, trench candles, and medicine.

In Dnipro, the NGO Duit engaged over 30 volunteers this week to make trench candles for the Ukrainian military. This tool not only serves as a heating and a source of light but also works as a small “stove” on which it is possible to cook and heat food. More than 400 trench candles were made, of which: – 72 units were transferred to the Kharkiv direction, and 250 units will be transferred to the Donetsk direction. Dmytro Chernyshov, Regional Coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” in Dnipro, helped to attract journalists to the event. 

Kirovohrad Oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, Christmas trees were decorated on Maidan Heroes Square. The trees symbolize 10 cities-heroes of Ukraine. They were decorated by people who were forced to leave these cities and found shelter in Kirovohrad oblast and in Kropyvnytskyi. Two other trees symbolize the Armed Forces and volunteers.

Vinnytsia Oblast

Khmilnyk and Khmilnyk Raion

Yesterday at 14:30 pm, a town meeting was held in Khmilnyk, where the citizens paid tribute to the fallen defender Anatolii Syvak. 

For more than seven months, women of Koziatyn of Khmilnyk raion, have been weaving camouflage nets for our soldiers. They have already made more than four dozen of them and with the help of volunteers have sent them to the front line. 

Western Oblasts

Rivne Oblast

10 generators were delivered from Poland for the needs of children and local residents of Rivne. They have already been delivered to children’s libraries and the Puppet Theater. So that children, in case of a power outage, could stay warm, acquire knowledge in comfortable conditions, and could distract from emotional stress. Also, several generators were sent to the “Points of Invincibility”.  

In Kostopil raion, the fallen defender Mykola Vitoshko was paid his last respects. The warrior was killed in a battle near the village of Kreminne in Luhansk oblast. In the village of Nemyrivka, the Radyvyliv community said goodbye to Mykola Marukha.

Zakarpattia Oblast

The “holiday of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker” was held in Mukachevo for IDPs and orphans. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Charitable Foundation for Dignity. The event was organized for more than 400 children from the occupied and de-occupied cities of Ukraine. A program with performances of animators and gifts was prepared for the children.

The volunteers from Zakarpattia are holding the campaign on the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays: they are collecting gifts for orphanages.
