Northern oblasts

Kyiv

At night, russians attacked Kyiv. 40 kamikaze drones were heading for Kyiv. 15 drones were destroyed over neighboring regions, 3 in the Kyiv Oblast, and 22 over the capital. As a result of the shelling, energy infrastructure facilities were damaged. Emergency power outages are in effect in the city. Accordingly, some heat supply facilities are de-energized. Power engineers continue to work in an intensified mode. The water supply system in the capital operates as usual.

In the Desnianskyi district, the wreckage of an enemy UAV fell on the roadway. The windows in a house nearby were damaged.

Kyiv Oblast

Residential buildings and a critical infrastructure facility were damaged as a result of the night attack by kamikaze drones in the Kyiv Oblast.

Today, a bomb squad of the State Emergency Service destroyed explosive devices in the Buchan Raion.

Zhytomyr Oblast

90 % of the social institutions of the Zhytomyr Oblast are provided with generators and Starlink terminals. These are hospitals, schools, kindergartens, boarding schools, boiler houses, administrative services centers (ASCs), etc. The generators were purchased by both local self-government bodies and international partners in cooperation with the Zhytomyr Oblast Military Administration.

Nearly 70,000 internally displaced persons welcomed the New Year in the Zhytomyr Oblast.

Didukhs (Ukrainian Christmas decorations made from a sheaf of wheat), kutia (a ceremonial grain dish with sweet gravy), vitamin mixtures, and more than two and a half tons of home-made dishes – in all, about thirty items were sent to the frontline soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the residents of the Vilshanka community of the Zhytomyr Oblast. All villages of the community joined in their preparation. Stuffed cabbage rolls, cutlets, dumplings, vinaigrette, pancakes, various meat dishes, knishes, pampukhs, fragrant pies (baked in home ovens) were made in schools, kindergartens and homes.

Chernihiv Oblast

Today, russian troops shelled the area of the settlement of Yeline in the Koryukivka Raion with self-propelled artillery systems. The observers counted 16 hits.

The russians also opened fire from 120 mm mortars in the area of the settlement of Lypivka, Koryukivka Raion.

Sumy Oblast

In the border village of Iskryskivshchyna in the Sumy Oblast, the ancient wooden church, the house of culture, a monument, and the building of the starosta office were damaged as a result of shelling on January 1.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

Yesterday, the russian occupiers continued shelling the border areas of the Kharkiv Oblast and settlements close to the line of contact in the Kupiansk and Chuhuiv raions.

In particular, Kupiansk, Vovchansk, Ohirtseve, Novomlynsk, Andriivka, Kucherivka, Lyman Pershyi, Vilshana, Orlianske, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka and other settlements were under attack.

In Kupiansk, 5 private houses and infrastructure were damaged by hostile shelling. A 77-year-old woman was wounded as a result of the shelling. She was rendered medical aid on the spot.

Donetsk Oblast

On New Year’s Eve, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the base of the russian invaders in occupied Makiivka, Donetsk Oblast. The explosion destroyed the school building where the russian occupiers were stationed. The ministry of defense of the russian federation reported the attack by six “HIMARS” shells from the side of Ukraine and 63 dead occupants. 

On January 1, one civilian was wounded in Bakhmut in the Donetsk Oblast as a result of russian army shelling.  

Since February 24, the russians have killed 1285 civilians in the Donetsk Oblast and wounded 2804 more. The number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is currently unknown.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

In the Donetsk sector, Maryinka and the outskirts of the Ocheretyne community were subjected to sporadic shelling. At night, there were some hits in the old part of Avdiivka, and in the morning the city was bombarded with Grad multiple rocket launchers.

Ukrainian troops destroyed ammunition depots in the Avdiivka and Lyman sectors.

Bakhmut and Bakhmut Raion

Since the beginning of the day, on January 2, the russian army shelled the Bakhmut sector 224 times with various types of rocket and tube artillery, as well as tanks.

Volnovakha and Volnovakha Raion

Vuhledar and the outskirts of the town came under fire in the Volnovakha sector. Attacks were also recorded on the outskirts of Vodiane, Prechystivka, and Bohoyavlenka.

Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk Raion

On the Horlivka sector, the Kostiantynivka community suffered the most: a house in Ivanopillia and a house in Oleksandro-Shultyne were damaged.

In the Lysychansk sector, there were about 30 hits in the villages of Zarichne, Torske and Terny of the Lyman community. No casualties.

Southern oblasts

Odesa Oblast

Six russian warships are on combat duty in the Black Sea. There are no missile carriers among them.

A naval mine, which was washed ashore, was destroyed by detonation in Odesa. 

Ukrainian port workers received 12 high-duty generators from the American Foundation.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Yesterday, the russian military shelled Orikhiv. As a result, one person was killed and three others were injured. Houses located near the hit point were damaged.

A 14-year-old girl injured in a rocket attack on Zaporizhzia underwent surgery. Currently, she is in intensive care. Doctors assess her health condition as moderate. Let’s remind. As a result of the enemy shelling, which the russians carried out on December 31 around 2:00 p.m., 2 private residential buildings were partially destroyed, and about 8 more were damaged in Zaporizhzhia. 5 people were injured, including a child. The girl, born in 2008, was in critical condition in intensive care.  

Mykolaiv Oblast 

The forces and means of air defense in the Mykolaiv Oblast destroyed six enemy drones “Shahed-136”, another one was shot down by the soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine.

In general, no shelling was recorded on the territory of the Mykolaiv Oblast.

For the entire time of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, the Halytsynivka, Pervomaiske, Shevchenkove, Bashtanka, Snihurivka and Shyroke communities were the most affected in Mykolaiv Oblast.

Kherson Oblast

On the morning of January 2, russian troops shelled the center of Beryslav, hitting the city market. Five people are known to be injured. Three people are in serious condition. The shelling of Beryslav continued throughout the day. The russian military hit a five-story building with a projectile, probably from a tank. There is serious destruction.

As of January 2, 896 objects were damaged by russian shelling in the Kherson community. Among them are 771 residential buildings, 44 educational institutions and 34 infrastructure facilities.

In Kherson, locals are overcoming the consequences of the russian shelling of the oblast children’s hospital, which happened on the night of January 1. A fire broke out. At that time, there were 17 children, 4 parents and 38 employees in the hospital. They were evacuated to the basement. Volunteers and employees of the facility board up the windows and clear the debris from the offices and wards destroyed by projectiles.

Since the deoccupation of the right bank of the Kherson Oblast, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service have inspected 991.8 hectares of territory and neutralized 11,893 explosive objects.

As of January 2, 474 residents of Kherson Oblast remain in russian captivity. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, the occupiers have kidnapped 1,100 people in the Kherson Oblast.

One of the Kherson hospitals received two mobile medical assistance points. One of them is designed and equipped with everything necessary for giving birth, the other – for providing assistance with injuries of the musculoskeletal system.

Central Oblast

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The russians shelled the Nikopol Raion with heavy artillery. Nikopol and Marhanets were attacked four times. More than 20 enemy shells hit the city. The recreation center was damaged. As a result of yesterday’s shelling in Nikopol, a 48-year-old woman was injured.

A russian Kh-59 missile and 3 kamikaze drones were shot down over the city of Dnipro and the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. In the Kamianske Raion, debris from a downed barrage ammunition fell on a private enterprise. There was a fire.

In Dnipro, the police detained a car that was leaving the building of the diocese of the russian orthodox church. They found propagandistic russian newspapers, portraits of moscow patriarch kirill gundyaev, victory leaflets, correspondence between the diocese and the russian orthodox church, and brochures of the banned Party of Regions.

On December 31, about 230,000 subscribers were urgently disconnected from electricity in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. They had no electricity all day. There was also no heat and partial water supply in the city.

The Dnipro City Council and volunteers handed over 25 sets of night vision binoculars to the Ukrainian military. They are waterproof, with a strong body, but at the same time light and compact. Also, 245 laptops and almost 200 other computer equipment were provided to various units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The TAPS-Ukraine Charitable Foundation, the Coordination Headquarters of Volunteers and the Dnipro City Hall gave the defenders warm clothes, berets, flashlights, and batteries. A large amount of products was also handed over: canned vegetables, canned fish, stew, pasta, cereals, sugar, coffee, tea, juices and hygiene products. Also, the CF “TAPS” together with the city authorities handed over a surgical, electro-hydraulic table and two syringe deposits to one of the city hospitals. Modern medical equipment was purchased with grant funds from the partner organization Direct Relief.

Dnipro volunteers prepared more than 12,000 hot meals in Snihurivka near the front line. This charitable project was organized thanks to the cooperation of the Ukrainian foundations: CF “K12” (Dnipro), CF “UACOM” (Sloviansk), partners from Sweden (“OperationAid” foundation), Hungary (volunteer Oleksandr Naypaver, CF “Warm Touch”) and Poland (volunteer Arek Malytskyi).

In the Magdalynivka community (Novomoskovsk Raion), educators prepare healing tea for defenders. It is a mixture of linden, chamomile, mint and rosehip. In general, educators have handed over more than a hundred tea bags. They plan to prepare a healthy treat – a nut-honey mixture. They also sent handmade decorations to the defenders: little angels, red boots, Christmas trees, amulets.

Cherkasy Oblast

Yuliia Chepurko, a doctor from “Azovstal” who was a war prisoner, was returned to Ukraine. She is originally from the city of Uman. The girl was captured by the Russians together with her husband Oleksandr Chepurko, whom they married on Azovstal. However, on September 21, only Oleksandr was released.

In the Cherkasy Oblast, a man who planned to join the kadyrov combat unit was sentenced. The man is a resident of Sievierodonetsk. In July 2022, he moved to Cherkasy under the guise of a displaced person from eastern Ukraine.

During 2022, the Cherkasy Oblast became a refuge for about 150 thousand displaced people. 105,000 of them remain in the oblast. Currently, more than 315 tons of humanitarian aid have been transferred to the Novovorontsovka territorial community in the Kherson Oblast, which is under the care of the Cherkasy Oblast.

Poltava Oblast

In the Poltava region, they will say goodbye to the deceased Yuriy Stepanenko from the village of Petro-Davydivka of the Dykanka community. The soldier served in the position of service number of the mechanized battalion of the A 7014 military unit . The soldier died on December 27 from injuries incompatible with life in the Luhansk Oblast.

29-year-old Roman Yaremenko died. “Poet” had the rank of the chief sergeant and served as a grenade launcher in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Black Zaporozhians. He was awarded the Order For Courage of the III degree. Roman was born in Lubny and began to defend Ukraine in 2016. He died on December 29 in the Donetsk Oblast.

36-year-old Valentin Kurinevskyi was a junior sergeant. A military man is from the Reshetylivka community. He fell in the Donetsk Oblast on December 25 during a tank fire.

A marauder from the “DPR” in the Poltava Oblast was sentenced. He stole jewelry and coins worth 393,000 hryvnias from Ukrainians. In March, in the Kharkiv Oblast, a militant received an order from the military of the 25th motorized rifle brigade of the russian federation to break into someone’s house. It belongs to the man who gave the coordinates of the location of russian troops to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The criminal, together with other russian military personnel, stole the owner’s belongings. He will spend the next 9 years behind bars.

The creation of a medical town is underway in Poltava. At the first stage, a children’s ward was added to the regional hospital, which became the Center for Specialized Pediatric Care. In the next stages, a regional hospital for war veterans and a skin and venereological dispensary will be added to the hospital.

Western oblasts

Khmelnytskyi Oblast

A girl who was injured by a russian missile hit Khmelnytskyi on December 31 has died. A total of 8 civilians were hospitalized. Then a military facility in Khmelnytskyi was hit. Some equipment was damaged .

The Iziaslav city-territorial community lost a serviceman. It was the ensign of the material support platoon of the reserve mechanized battalion, Stroiuk Mykola Vasyliovych, a 53-year-old resident of the village of Soshne . Eternal glory to the Hero.

Kamianets- Podilskyi

The “Mozhemo-Pomozhemo”charity foundation held the patriotic campaign “Warm a soldier” in support of the Armed Forces, namely with the aim of providing the men with the chemical warmers they need so much. In total, the amount of funds raised for the needs of the army amounted to UAH 5,804.

On the eve of the New Year, young participants of the “Children of War” project received greetings and wishes for a speedy Victory and Peace from children from Italy. They received juice, Coca-Cola, fruit, yogurt, and honey and lemons to support immunity from their Italian friends.

The staff of the Lyceum No. 12 started the first working day of the new year with the small candle factory for the production of “trench candles”. More than a hundred ready-made products will go to the front on January 6.

Rivne Oblast

On the first day of 2023 in the village of Ostrozhets, a defender Yuriy Us was said goodbye. The 24-year-old Hero died on December 28 while performing a combat mission near Klishchiivka of the Bakhmut Raion in the Donetsk Oblast.

Mykola Sydoruk, Vasyl Gonta, and National Guard soldier Oleksiy Anulia returned home from captivity.

In the Rivne Oblast, gifts were prepared for more than 200 children whose parents were taken away by the war. New Year’s “magicians” were benefactors from Ukraine and abroad. Parcels came from the USA, Canada, Poland, Slovakia and other countries. On the eve of the holidays, children prepared letters describing what gifts they would like to receive. This action for the children of fallen,, missing and captured Ukrainian soldiers was organized by volunteers and employees of the “Veteran’s Space” communal institution. The gifts like clothes, toys, tablets, phones and much more, have already been sent to the addressees.
